  Having finally decided to take the plunge to upgrade to Windows 10, I discovered that my Officejet 6700 Premium previously peripheral work will scan is no longer.

  My connection to the device is via a wired connection with a static IP address on the printer. It all worked perfectly under Windows 7, but now, I can only print to the printer to win 10.

  I tried to uninstall the previously working software (under Win 7) and downloaded the latest version of the HP (OJ6700_1315 - 1.exe) software, which BTW is not a patch on the previous software that I'm used to using - but it did not help. Still no joy with the scanning feature.

  I tried to uninstall all software, so I tried to launch the Wizard installation HP which seemed to re - install the last set of software (as above) with the same results - I can print it, but if I try to scan using the Officejet 6700 App it appears a dialog box saying "inaccessible Scanner. Scanner communication cannot be established. Make sure that your product is powered, check the connection and esnure that your network runs correctly. ...".  Amazing result given that the application displays all levels of printer ink, and I can print - every time!

  I tried disabling the firewall - no difference, still do not see the scanner.

  Tried using other windows applications; Paint, etc. - no joy.

  I also tried the "HP Print Scan doctor and" nothing does - even, he gives up and says to contact HP support, with no details about what to tell them!

  I hope someone else out there could have had the same problem and found a way to make it work?

  In case anyone is interested, I bit the bullet and did a new install of Windows 10 on a formatted drive. I then installed the same software that I had tried on the "upgrade to Windows 7" windows, 10, and everything works as expected.

  Therefore, there is definitely something wrong with the upgrade process, and the removal of the HP scanning software & resettlement never did his job correctly.

  I look closely at the list of DLLs etc., charged by the printing software, but could not detect anything immediate.

  Then, certainly in my case, a new facility was to solve this problem.

  On my officejet 6700 Premium, I have had trouble since the magenta cartridge was missing.  I'm unable to print even if you select using black only, it appears on the screen that gives me the choice to order or cancel, it gives also this pop up if I try to scan documents to save to my computer and even trying to fax.

  I am currently using Windows 7 Ultimate service pack 1

  I am at a loss on it and a plan to buy a cartridge, but in the meantime all that I need is to use black and also to scan documents.  Is there a way around this issue?

  I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue.

  You will not be able to print WITHOUT this magenta cartridge. Some printers (older models) can print certain colors without another cartridge in the printer. The reason why it is not printing because this magenta blends in with all the other cartridges to perform a true black.

  So if it was another cartridge, it would give you the same error message and do not print.

  Your new scanner does support TWAIN correctly or does it use a custom driver? It's al lthat questions. Acrobat uses only TWAIN sources and the old scanners are still because their source info has been cached.   I bought the HP 6700, I tried to scan for the last 2 days! It works very well with my husband's computer (a PC), but it won't work with my MAC 10.9.2! When I try to activate the scanning to computer it just says "communication error".

  1 restart the printer, computer and router

  2 re-install the drivers (3 times).

  3. repair disk permissions

  any other ideas?

  Try scanning from your Mac. Use Image Capture app in your Applications folder.

  Click once on the scanner on the left side, and then click Show details on the background. Along the right side you will see MANY options for scanning and recording.

  One idea I've heard is to close Photoshop, perform a context-click on the Photoshop CS3 application icon, and choose "Get Info" and "Run under Rosetta" check, then restart. Rosetta is maybe on your OS 10.6 DVD as a separate installation if you have never installed.

  You really need to learn how to scan using the stand-alone software provided with the scanner or use 3rd Party software like VueScan.

  Photoshop has no capability of scanning in and of itself, but the two pilot that activates the stand-alone software and Photoshops TWAIN.plugin. When you scan using Photoshop you use a $1,000 as a user interface application to use your $100 scanner. Be a productive use of the stand-alone application so you can continue working while you are scanning.

  If you can just wrap your head around this concept, you will find the TWAIN.plugin in the goodies folder. The reason why it was removed was because that scanner manufacturers continue to write drivers that conflict with Photoshops TWAIN.plugin.

  Suddenly the scanning (on my desktop) module see the / not allowed to add pages more when I scan a PDF file or any other provision. I can only click on "Done" and have to restart again. I already have non-installed/re-installed it.

• HP 1536dnf MFP - scanner does not work in Win 8.1

  I just bought a new Dell with Windows 8.1 desktop and then discovered that there was no pilot or ful feature scanner for my HP 1536 dnf MFP software.  The printer is less than 2 years and I think he's only had a couple of cartridges of toner in it.  Frankly, I like the scanner function better than the print quality.  If there is no work-around, I'll have to pick up my new computer to the Sam Club and get a refund.  I have always used HP printers and recommended to others, but I never thought that I would lose support for a product less than two years.  Is there a work around that everyone knows, or should I return to the computer and get a model of Windows 7?  Money is not the problem it's the hours I put in configuration the thing before I stumbled upon this question.  I don't want to buy a scanner any printer plus another.

  trying to get my Canon iR4570 multifunction copier to work as a scanner.  I installed print drivers (UFRII) and it works like a full service printer but the scanner does not appear.
