ACS 5.3: Data Repository on Tapedrive

Hello

It is prossible to create a repository of data on the tape drive and use it to perform: -.

a. incremental backup

b. configure the view incremental backup

c. configure the backup of database view

Also if the backup can be taken on the tape drive and used for recovery.

According to the information NFS staging of Url is used if the size of the database is large and low disk space on GBA.

Kind regards.

Satish,

Here are the protocols that are supported by ESA with regard to backup and restore. I don't think (or know) if the tape drives using one of these protocols.

  • type of data repository more quick vi

I inherited a large application LV that, in some cases runs VERY slowly. It is almost exclusively due to the transfer of data between the application and the database or between a few screws to access the data in the repository live. First time data are necessary, it is read from the data base (via ODBC) and stuck in a LV repository with an identification number associated with (i.e., it is a version stripped of a class of porridge). This repository was written to be as simple (and effective?) as possible and is essentially a reentrant vi with a shift uninitialized register which contains an array of clusters. You can create, delete, read and write data in the repository as a Variant. Some of the groups of data are quite large (> 100 controls) and may contain subgroups or tables of channels and telephone numbers (I know, I know...).

There are about 10 different repositories running. Each folder can contain data for items up to 30. The repositories as a whole are available on 1000 times and the 200 times database for a given operation (which therefore ends up taking about 20 seconds!)

Because I don't have the luxury of rewriting the entire application from scratch, I need ideas on how to speed things up. So: Is there a quicker way to store/retrieve data as the repository I described? Are the massive parallelism and a 8-core chip my only Savior?

I am running LV 7.1 on XP. I have attached a JPEG of the repository.

    Thanks for any ideas

  • Can I install OBIEE 11.1.1.7 under Windows and have located on Oracle on Linux data repository

    Hello

As a point of Contact for my client, we need to install OBIEE 11.1.1.7 under Windows, but we are not allowed to install Oracle database on Windows (very strict regulation of the client) machine.

My question is if possible install OBIEE 11.1.1.7 (server, Installation of the company) on Windows 2008 (R2 Standard 64-bit SP1) and use as a support for (UCR and everything, including data dashboards) Oracle database (11 g) installed on a Linux machine?

Thank you very much for your answers!

As I'm on a time pressure, I thank you very much once again for quick answers.

    Yes.

As long that you can reach this DB OBIEE server it's OK.

In addition, you can run the RCU to any other box as well (or the box of OBIEE).

  • Upgrade ACS 5.1 to 5.3

    Hi all

I need to upgrade our ACS 5.1 to 5.3 after I see this cisco Dockment this Doc is more complex

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5.3/installation/guide/csacs_upg.html#wp1199421

I don't understand any help please think of me answering my question

    1. we have 2 primary and secondary, with which we have to start to upgrade?

-at the top, Doc started with

    Upgrade a deployment ACS 5.1 to 5.3

2 - sholud I start using this method ACS upgrade deployments or sholud I use only a 5.1 to 5.3 ACS server is upgraded ?

3 - frist I must save my server how to back up the two page server web ACS server or should I use ony command line?

    -This command

Step 1 Save the ACS since the ACS 5.2 Server data.

Step 2 Enter the following backup EXEC mode to perform a backup and place the backup in a repository.

backup backup-name-name of the repository repository

    4. What is the name of a repository and how do I find

    5. also

ACS, install patch patch - repository name.tar.gpg repository-name

    -Idon't know whatever that means

    Note

Before upgrading a secondary server, you must cancel the registration of the primary server.

    6. what it means, what strike?

    7. I can take this update of the page Web directors of ACS

    8. If I need to upgrade our CMD ACS must install FTP server? How to install the FTP server in ACs or how to talk about this ACS server FTP

Thank you all for the help

    AHA

    Tarik, great answer + 5

    Hello Abdullah Hashim

You start by secondary. If he's a collector of newspaper and then move it to primary school for a while, once the upgrade has completed, bring it back to secondary, and upgrade of the main box.

He recommended latest patch on the current version (to avoid known problems) before you upgraded to 5.3 or 5.4 GBA

You are already using the latest patch of ACS 5.1 (IE patch 6) so you do not need to install another patch. ACS patches are cumulative, so no need to install the previous patches. The last being should have correct all defects.

Let me know if you still have any questions.

  • Question of Exadata ORACLE_HOME

    Hello
I would like to know if there is a best practice concerning ORACLE_HOME exadata machine.
If we have 3 databases on the quarter molding machine.
a database will serve as a staging database.
The second will serve as a database
    the wire we use repository.

    A question:
    ============
I would like to get your advice if I should have only a single ORACLE_HOME for all 3 the RDBMS
or ORACLE_HOME have for each of them.

    Second question:
    ============
Regarding ASM disk groups, do I need to create only one disk group named DATA for example, or for each database to its own diskgroup

    Best regards

    Hi Yoav,

I should have only ORACLE_HOME for all 3 the RDBMS
or ORACLE_HOME have for each other?

Use an ORACLE_HOME to your dbses. Just to keep things simple.
BTW current Exadata of deliveries by FAC have the following oracle homes.

    /U01/app/11.2.0.3/grid
    /U01/app/Oracle/product/11.2.0.3/dbhome_1

    ..

Should I have a single disk group named DATA for example
or to have to each its own diskgroup database?

By default, ACS will create DATA, RECO and groups of disks just DBFS_DG you put data in DATA files and use IORM to control the use of resources
    between databases.

  • Apple health blood glucose - fasting indicator

Didn't know where to post - but healthy Apple, glucose monitoring would be useful if he offered a flag to indicate whether the test was on an empty stomach, because these partitions are most important when evaluating records. It is much more convenient to enter the phone rather than a book, and that one extra flag would be very useful for diabetics.

    Submit your Apple here:

    http://www.Apple.com/feedback

Meanwhile, you might want to look in the app store for glucose tracking apps that synchronize with health. Health seems really more designed as a data repository and a conduit to synchronize these data to other applications and devices rather than as a stand-alone analysis tool.

  • How to decrypt the backup file

    Hi all

I need to know how to decipher the backup file (ACS 5.3) on the desktop. Below is relevant for once you import the file to restore. However, my problem is to extract the file to your desktop

    ============================================================

    GBA backup encryption

Backup of the ACS is now encrypted using a password of dynamic encryption. The user is prompted for an encryption password when executing a backup operation. ACS encrypts only the ACS data by using a dynamic encryption key. CARS and the ACS view data is encrypted using a static key. That is why ACS invites to enter a password for encryption when you perform a backup that contains the data of the ACS. The user is prompted for a password for decryption while restoring a backup that contains the data of the ACS.

When you run a backup in ACS, ACS uses the static to encrypt key the CARS and the ACS data and actually a file of .gpg while GBA backup data is saved inside this file as file separate .gpg .gpg using the dynamic encryption password. When you restore the full backup, ACS invites for the decryption password decrypt the backup ACS data. ACS decrypts the data from CARS and display ACS data using the static key.

    The encryption password must have:

    • a minimum of 8 characters
    • no more than 32 characters
    • letter at least one capital letter.
    • at least a tiny.

«Special characters are allowed except "'", "$", "(" et "") "» ACS displays the password strategy if the entered password does not meet password requirements.

    ===========================================================

for people who would ask "Why I want to do this": it's policies related audit password standards

    Hello

I can't think about a way to recover your files, it's to restore the file to a temp ACS server can generate a backup that is not encrypted.

I would say we can decrypt the file on your desktop if we know the method that was used to encrypt it. I think that this information is not provided anywhere in the doc of cisco.

    Has anyone seen this problem?

Can you join the newspaper except that you get.

There could be lots of things, most likely the second server IaaS does not approve the IaaS certificate you configured. Most likely, it happens when he tries to access the Data /Repository. service Did you follow the installation steps when you deploy the IaaS shild (point 15 - if you install components additional Web site behind a load balancer, do not generate self-signed certificates.) Import the IaaS Webservers main certificate form to ensure that you use the same certificate on all servers behind the load balancer. )

I see that there are 2 elements scripts containing "Extract information from the virtual machine - SL" Workflow "/" ("' Get CPU / memory ' and ' Get network / IP '").

You can try to rename to something without ' / '.

  • Create an ODBC/OIC OBIEE server connection.

    Hello

I look at if there is a way to create an ODBC connection to a remote server in OBIEE or a way to get the data repository by other means (perhaps OIC?). The OBIEE server is on a remote windows computer and I am trying to create an ODBC data source in my windows machine local with the drivers of the instant_client without success.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I found that the problem was the odbc driver that I used. I had to use the one that is installed with the tool Oracle BI Admin of 32 bits (not DB client instant one).

  • How to dynamically change the last part of the url inside the body HTML in e-mail send to Apex process

    Hello

I need to change the last part of the URL sent by post in the apex dynamically. I have a requirement that a person can register itself with a new user name and other details. When the user clicks on the button register after you have entered all the required values in the page all values will be inserted into the user_details_repository table in the database. At the same time an email with a url link is sent to the user admin for the assertion. When the admin user, click on the link it is redirected to a page where all the details submitted by this particular user is displayed. The admin user can confirm or reject the new user registration. If the admin user says, all the data repository of this particular user table will be inserted in a main table named user_details and data will be deleted from the repository table. Yet once if the admin user rejects, all the data repository of this particular user table will be deleted.

For this, I have created two pages for this and all of the features mentioned above works correctly except change the link url each time a letter is sent to the admin user when a new user register itself. To send email, I created send e-mail process. I need to change the last word/part of URLs within html body according to the username provided by the new user.

for example, the url to another user will be like this:

    http://localhost: 8080/apex/f? p = 103:9:3849261906471:NO:USERNAME:Namrata

    http://localhost: 8080/apex/f? p = 103:9:3849261906471:NO:USERNAME:Madhura

    Help, please.

If there is another way to achieve the same thing please answer.

    Thank you

    Nilesh

    Hi Nilesh,

You can use a Page element as a substitution variable in the body of the HTML message.

for example, blah blah blah & P123_MY_PAGE_ITEM. blah blah blah

The syntax is an ampersand in front of the name of page element and a point after the name.

    brgds,

    Peter

  • Enterprise Manager Newbie Q

    Hello all,.
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    Windows 2008 R2
Last night one of the production users received an ORA-01652: unable to extend segment temp by 128 in tablespace TEMP error.

Therefore, my manager asked that I
“Please configure our database servers to notify us via email when critical thresholds are exceeded.

This is a standard config option within enterprise manager”.
I have very little experience/exposure with EM. In fact, I found several terms that, in my view, all refer to the same thing (correct me if I'm wrong please), for example: "OEM Database Control", "OEM Grid Control" and the so-called capabilities of "The Business Service Management (BSM) of Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Are these different products/tools, or the different implementations of the OEM?

We are not a CAR shop. Is the term THAT GRID is also used to indicate a RAC environment?

I'm looking for a few good sources of 'How to use/configure OEM' information. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I am looking to buy the following books, recommendations on these projects or others?

Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Handbook (Oracle Press) - Gruyter Werner
Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11g R1: Business Service Management - Ashwin Kumar Kinihira, Govinda Raj malika

It seems that there is a repository of data for the OEM. Is it necessary in general? Can I configure things such that I can get notifications by e-mail when tablespace (s) exceed a certain threshold of use without the repository?

I know that I've rambled on some, thank you for your patients.

    Thanks for your time,
    Bob

I can answer some of your questions...

"OEM Database Control" is essentially "Oracle Enterprise Manager for a single data base". "OEM Grid Control" (or the current version, "OEM Cloud Control" is essentially "Oracle Enterprise Manager for several databases", as well as the possibility for the host of the server monitor, web applications and quite a few other non-base of data.) They are similar but different products. Control of database gets usually installed with the database software itself, while the control of grid/cloud is a completely separate a stand-alone product installation. I don't know what the BSM forest made reference to.

Control of the database uses the monitored database as its data repository (in the SYSMAN schema). Grid control also requires a repository, but you are allowed to install a separate, free of charge license database to serve as a repository for the grid control as long as you don't use for something else (other than as a catalogue of RMAN recovery). If you don't want to install a different database to serve as a control of the grid/cloud, you can use an existing database, but it is generally not recommended.

Control of the database or grid/cloud control can operate without a repository. One of them will allow you to set up alert notifications when tablespace (s) exceed your thresholds configured, or when several other events happen (DB stops, complete file system, CPU too high, too many sessions, load what you want).

The term 'Grid' is used in 'Oracle Grid Infrastructure', which is part of the collection package that supports the CAR. 'Grid' is just a marketing term, RAC and Grid Control are orthogonal concepts, nor requires the other but they can also be used together.

I can't comment on the books.
