Activation after starting "Repair" work not

Working on my friend's computer:

Replaced power supply, motherboard, processor and RAM... Hung existing HD and DVD.
Would start only welcome screen and then it would automatically restart.
Didn't have its authentic OEM of XP disc with me so jump in mine instead.
Started on the disc.
A ran a repair mode.
He installed it asks for key, so I used mine.
It loaded and I was relieved that his info and files were still intact.
He produced a large number of updates.

Problem is now the activation window will not come to the top. The Web page telling me this isn't a copy valid the fact but no ability activation.

Issues related to the:

First OFF... should I have NOT used my copy due to the fact I have a race it also on my computer?
Do I have to get his copy and re - launch 'Repair' again so that I can put in his keys when invited?
Why is the window of Activation not to come when I go to start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > activate Windows?

Hello. If the CD that you used for the first repair isn't the real original then you might run into problems like this with the activation. If find you the original CD then try doing a repair with that and see if it works, then try to activate the product.

Otherwise, I suggest you back up all the data and do a clean install with the original CD.

No, it isn't the original CD.

I have the original CD from him. The product key is on a sticker on his case, so it will be pretty easy.

A ran a small freeware called: XPPID.exe
He got to the wire to Softpedia.

After uninstalling, I run an application to delete the caches and temporary files and even remove manually the keys to register HKLM\SOFTWARE\Mozilla and HKCU\SOFTWARE\Mozilla. I restart and make sure that the installation folder is deleted after uninstalling.

    Results are the same: after installing Firefox 31, the initial settings for migration, IE or Chrome pop up and after having clicked on the button finish, Firefox starts but does not display the home page of the new user, only a blank page. By clicking on the Options (3 bars) button does nothing. Right click in the appropriate box, the shortcut menu appears, so I can choose to customize, but which opens another tab with subject: Customize the URL and the page is blank. In the right click context menu, I can activate the menu bar and get options from that.

    There is no file with this name in Windows XP.  It was probably part of a virus or spyware infection that has been partially removed. Run a full scan for virus/spyware.  If the problem persists, use the free Windows Sysinternals Autoruns tool to find and remove the reference to the file.

    When I turn on my laptop, it brings me to a screen titled "Windows Error Recovery" which means the following:

    "Windows did not start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. »

    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

    tried, nothing worked so I uninstalled office and re-installed from disc. Explorer 8 still does not work, but I uninstalled a with explore 7 updates and automatic update started and explore 7 worked. Thought I'd try installing explore 8 new. It worked, even if it failed with the Download Manager. Now all back to normal. I would be careful about the use of EMET, unless you know exactly what you are doing. Not a lot of faith in either the Download Manager.

    Do not have access to Safe Mode if you ignore the system restore and click on the button on the Start Menu?  Your initial problems are repeated in this case?

    If you can access Safe Mode things, see if it will help you create another user, and it will allow to test this new user in Normal Mode of loading.

    Also, if you can in Mode safe, download and run this program in mode safe mode and let it scan your computer for malware.

    Try this mode safe too.  Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click on your drive icon / properties / tools / error checking.  Try first by checking do not each box (that it will run in read-only mode) to see if it reports any problems file or hard drive.  If so, restart it by checking both boxes and restart to allow him to attempt to fix any problems found.

    You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel - device
    Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - then right click
    on devices and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

    Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure)
    CTRL + ALT + DELETE and on the tab process EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - then
    on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is reached
    by tapping F8 as you start several times.

    Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all patch is usually on a base hit or miss.
    That there is no information on a black screen as it is on a blue screen just adds to the
    Difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect. You can try a
    Google to see the proposed repairs, whom some have worked however these cover a wide
    field efforts.

    You have a Vista disk? You can try restoring the system to it. If you do not have your system disks
    manufacturer will sell them at low prices. Or try in safe mode if you can get there.
