  I'm new to this game and that you have installed Windows 2000 in my VMWare Player, who continues trying in vain to download "VMWareTools for Windows 2000 and later versions - version 8.4.5".   To manually install VMware Tools on a Windows host download just unzip the archive and run the .exe which result and that will create the windows.iso file and will be available when you select install VMware Tools.

  On a Linux host unzip archive and then in a Terminal, for example, run the following command:

  sudo vmware-installer --install-component=vmware-tools-windows-8.4.5-324285.i386.component
  

  This opens the installer GUI and then you just follow the instructions.  When the windows.iso is available when you install VMware Tools

  I have a computer that is running windows 7 I've had for about a year and a half.  Yesterday, he started telling me that my copy of windows is not genuine.  The only thing I did recently was to install Ubuntu on a separate partition.  It is around this time that the problem started.

  I have a new job, but wanted to keep exclusively for development.  So I discovered that RDP with multiple monitors does not work with Windows 7 Pro, only Windows 7 Ultimate/Enterprise.  I have an active subscription to CARDS that gives me at least a Windows Ultimate license.  I have RDP'd in the new workstation to perform an upgrade of Windows.  I entered the license key of CARDS, but the process completes successfully.

  So, I switched gears and decided to upgrade the old machine to Windows 7 Ultimate using the same process, but connected directly (no RDP).  It works beautifully.

  * PROBLEM * now my new machine requires activation, and it won't work with Windows 7 Pro license. In my opinion, he thinks that he himself has upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate.  How can I fix it.   I bought a HP All in One 21 around a year ago. It came with Windows 8.1, which took decent. I upgraded to 10 Windows some time ago and apparently unstable (as my driver wifi not working after an update).

  Angered by instability, I wiped the entire drive and installed Ubuntu. Now, I want to share this computer with my father and I need to reinstall Windows again, but I have no installation disc or activation code.

  Is - this there anyway I can get a genuine Windows running on my machine? I have received, purchase date, etc.

  HP computers equipped with Windows preinstalled (aka OEM Windows) have some recovery partitions that can be used for recovery of factory default state - example, they can wipe a few partitions and reinstall Windows which is preinstalled.

  If you have Windows, it was possible to create a recovery media for the reinstallation of Windows. If it had not done before installing Ubuntu, you need a recovery media now.

  Your options are:

  -1 - continue to use GNU/Linux > Ubuntu (or download Linux Mint) and give it to your dad. I don't know it will be great operating system like Linux -. Linux Mint www.linuxmint.com is based on Ubuntu, but is regarded as easier to use, a bit more stable and similar to Windows desktop experience.

  -2 - contact HP support for recovery (DVD or USB pen drive) media. HP may send you a recovery media that can be used to reinstall Windows (e.g. Windows 8.1) and your computer will be returned to the State it was when buying - factory default.  More information:

• Audio driver for windows XP problem

  Ideas: I can not load my driver for audio. Windows has apparently a patch called audio function UAA for HD driver. Can I download it from the internet, but I don't know how to install it in the zip file

  What brand/model computer do you have?   What type/model of your audio card/chipset?

  I recommend that you get Microsoft OS patches only from the Windows XP Update tool:

  1. Beginning
  2. Control Panel
  3. Look in the see also group
  4. Click on Windows Update

  If you get the OS patches from anywhere other than:

  1. The MS Windows XP Update Site
  2. Your computer manufacturer Web site
  3. or
  4. Your card device or Web sites

  you run an unacceptable risk for malicious software.  As far as I know, Microsoft puts all its pilots on the "Windows Update" site, which should be accessible from the control panel.
