Activation keys problems

My son's Acer laptop crashed big time, unable to save anything. I loaded a copy of the same OS from my other son computer but the existing OEM ACER key will not work with it. What can we do?
Acer will be my best hope?

You can't do it.

You need the correct recovery Acer support.

https://secure.TX.Acer.com/rcdb/main.aspx?brand=Acer

Contact Acer and ask them to send a set of recovery Vista disk/s for this particular model.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

See you soon

  • Activation of Windows 8 key problem!

    Dear Microsoft and readers,

Laptop: DELL Inspiron. Started with Windows 8, never updated to 8.1.

Background: I have a serious problem. You see, my laptop crashed a few days ago on me. I had several have crashed in the past with this blue screen popping up, but it was something very new. The Blue Screen of Death popped up while I was watching something on the Internet, my laptop started to reboot just like the screen popped up again. Eventually he went into that mode, and I was able to restart. ... Failed. I was forced to go to a local technician, and after several attempts to try to restore backups, we decided all of this screw and install on a disk, a Windows 8 Professional installation. Have downloaded successfully, but there was a problem. I had lost my original key for Windows 8, and it keeps telling me to activate my Windows key.

Question: Now don't get me wrong, I am against digital piracy, but I was ready to use activation keys already out there, to realize it wouldn't work. You buy a new Pack of Windows? Oh come on, 80 pounds for a key? That is absolutely ridiculous! I can't find my old key as it is erased from my laptop now, I don't think it's on the BIOS. Is it possible to recover if? I mean, I'm not sure if it is displayed correctly, but are there? I need help with this, maybe there is a way to get a new one without having to pay for it even ONCE? What do I need to contact someone, such as Microsoft? Or Dell? I could do pretty much on my Service tag using dashes, it is 76c9JV1, there may be a way to get on Dell and find it from there? Please help me here.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Miron.

With Windows 8, Microsoft changed stickers that have the product key that the user must type in during the installation of the operating system of new embedded BIOS product key. The idea is that by eliminating the tile, you eliminate one of the easiest ways for nefarious users get a legitimate product key. The sticker also eliminating product key removes any concern that the vignette could get damaged while at the same time eliminating the long and irritating the process of typing in various letters and numbers in the installation of the operating system.

If the user has to reinstall the operating system on a computer with Windows 8, the installation process automatically captures key software product of the motherboard BIOS without input from the user. This means that these stickers familiar windows product key will no longer appear on Windows 8 computers.

In the user s manuals document clearly described how you can do so before you swap HDD create recovery disc in first.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

Windows 8/8.1 computers have their keys Win grouped in the BIOS. They do not come with WCC tights and distinct keys. Once you make an HP system recovery, system will get his key and will be activated. HP and every seller is entitled to share the key.

Now, the problem occurs because you seem to fail to make the recovery of the system.

Please, read this detailed article = > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03489643/ and read the right way to do system recovery. If something happened, and the hidden recovery partitions are destroyed, you may need HP drives recovery or your own recovery discs.  Where you need to buy HP recovery discs, you can contact the HP Support for this request:

    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/contact-HP/WW-contact-us.html

Please, feel free to post again if something is not clear. I'll do my best to help you.

If the copy you have came preinstalled on your laptop, then contact the manufacturer of your computer for a replacement key. If it's a touch of detail, you can call the Microsoft Customer Service for a replacement key:

Visit the Microsoft Solution Center and antivirus security for resources and tools to keep your PC safe and healthy.  If you have problems with the installation of the update itself, visit the Microsoft Update Support for resources and tools to keep your PC updated with the latest updates.

I moved a drive and it says my activation key has already been used is anyway I can get it back to keep it active

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft community!

  • Windows activation key is do not qualify

Previous post stated that I could not locate Windows Vista activation key. I found the key, when I enter it I get the message "Software Licensing Service reported that the license evaluation failed. Suggestions please.

Before this AM, I had no problem, the computer is almost 4 years now. This AM, I received a disk error message and the computer "repaired" himself. Now I get the message that Windows is not activated.

The key on the COA sticker on your computer is not really designed for activation. It's just a technical formality. Computer manufacturers main Windows installations come pre-activated by using what we call 'SLP' aka the pre-activation locked system. This system uses the computer's BIOS, a special OEM key and a special certificate of OEM to activate the computer. If any of these items are deleted, corrupted, damaged, or changed... Windows may ask to reactivate, as he lost his pre-enabled state.

Without recover your computer to a factory State, it can be difficult to get the system re-activated. Using the HP Recovery Manager or HP recovery to the recovery disks, the computer will be solove this question, but you will need to re-install all your software-at the factory, the updates of Windows and also back up and restore your personal data.

  • Windows Vista activation key is invalid.

We've had this laptop for about 3 years now.  We recently had to take in our repair guy and he re-installed Windows Vista for us.  The laptop worked great since then (several weeks) until the end of last week.

We started getting a pop up notice to activate Windows.  I was hesitant to click on it until I could talk with our guys from the computer.  In the meantime our wallpaper would disappear anytime we stop or restart the machine.  Then this morning when I started the computer upwards the lower right got the message: "Windows Vista (TM) Build 6002 this copy of Windows is not genuine".

I called our repair guy and he said that happens sometimes with a re - install.  He said to go and activate Windows.  When I do, before I even get to a place to enter the activation key, the box that opens shows "Windows Vista home premium product key you typed is invalid for activation".

It follows with the options: "Buy a new product key online", "Type a different product key" or "Contact Microsoft to help solve this problem."  I chose the second option, using the product key on the bottom of our machine and got the message "the product key you entered is not a valid Windows Vista product key.  Please check your product key, and then type it again. "I checked the key and spruced up and got the same message.

Can someone help me please understand what is the problem and how to fix it?  Or at least provide a way to talk to a living person as the "Contact Microsoft to help solve this problem" option in my head of activation window me to a page that had me trying to activate, which opened in the same window that I had already opened.

So, after all the time that I spent to fight with this problem and check and recheck the product key, it seems I should actually check the prescription of glasses - I was confused with a 'B' for '8 '.  Once I typed the key * correctly * everything was fine.  I even restarted my computer twice to be sure that all "stuck".  Sheesh, I feel stupid.

    Thanks for your help. :-)

  • Request activation key (added vista gamer)

I installed windows vista adding gamer in my system about a year ago.

Recently, some malicious programs attacked my system.

From that moment during the boot process, it is asking for the product key, but it gives me a button 'Activate' later then that if I click on it windows starts normally.

Please help me out here whether it's because of the malware attack or really she asked the product key for activation.

If it is for activation please someone give me an activation key if you

If she asks you to reactivate Vista you need to do this by using the product key for the program Vista is preinstalled or that you have purchased.  If you don't know it and can't find it on the label on the underside of your laptop or on the sides or the back of a desktop computer, then download the following program; http://www.Belarc.com/free_download.html and run it on your system.  It will give you the 25 character alpha-numeric product key that you must reactivate.  If you can't do it automatically (Start / computer / system and Activation properties at the bottom), then do it manually.  The message you are getting is going to change to something like "you have 5 days to activate your system" or something like that.  Then when the time is up, you'll be able to do much except activate the product.  Do not wait - fix this now.

To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country and press Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain the situation, but it's the same PC and only installed on this PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate Vista.

If activation is somehow for the player and not Vista itself, please repost your question in Forum games: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistagaming/threads where the specialists of game should be able to help (but you may be able to do the number above and if you have the product key for the addition of live gamer Vista.)  I don't know if I posted above will provide this code but it could.

No one can provide you with an activation code because it useless on their own system and cannot be installed on multiple systems at the same time (and it would be illegal anyway).  If it's for the player, you'll just have to find the product key (maybe it's in an old e-mail if you obtained by download).  Otherwise there are no real options.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
