Activation of SSH on N2000

Hello

I'm looking to enable SSH/telnet to my Dell PowerConnect N2048 management. Currently I get timeouts when connecting to one. I followed the instructions on several forum posts and this guide:

However, at this stage, I am completely puzzled. I generated the RSA and DSA keys, and the SSH server has been successfully activated. I've linked the VLAN 1 to a static IP address, which I suppose worked correctly (see IP in show run) I also created a user with the privileges of level 15. Currently, I am only able to access the console via a serial cable. SSH connection does not require a user name and expires instead. Here is the result of intellectual property see the ssh:

SSH server active. Port: 22
Levels of Protocol: Versions 1 and 2.
SSH connections in use:... 0
Maximum number of SSH Sessions:... 5
SSH Session Timeout:... 600
RSA key has been generated.
DSA key was generated.
SSH public key authentication is disabled.

Active inbound sessions.

User name of the IP address of the session idle time
--------------- --------------- ------------ ------------

Am I missing something?

Everything seems good. I sent you a friends asking for additional information from the switch. The request of friends includes my email address. Additional information will help me to get a better look at the switch. I look forward to your email.

Thank you

  • Difference between Shell ESXi and active with SSH PuTTY?

    Hello

We used to activate SSH and PuTTY to connect to 5.5 ESXi host.

However, a consultant suggested allow ESXi Shell and access it via DCUI.

Would just like to ask you what is the difference between these 2 methods of access?

    Thank you

Accusing Shell of ESXi is available by using two different ways.

    (1) local access to the shell of ESXi is available turning and by using directly from DCUI (Alt + F1), safer, since it is connected locally

    (2) remove access to the shell of ESXi is available by activating SSH Shell and using the SSH Client such as PUTTY etc to access. Since it is remote access, security is a bit of a cause for concern.

This is the reason, the suggestion to use locally DCUI is given.

  • Active but cannot access SSH

I activated the SSH on ESXi 5.1.0 host, but I can't access it. No open port 22 is visible via nmap unlike other hosts I can access. Is any other how to activate SSH? I can't restart the host in the moment.

Hope that you enable ssh as mentioned below

  • Did you come out ssh and now cannot use ssh - this had to happen one day

    Pro2 OS6 v 6.4.0

    SSH

I logged in ssh [email protected]

No files were open, but before I "exit" the session that the unit did a stop/delayed. I had completely lost track of time.

Now, I can't ssh in. I've disabled the ssh, rebooted, activated the ssh and tried again.

It happens just to expire without asking for my password.

Is there one solution other than a reset of the OS or the factory re - install?

    Thank you very much

I don't know if everybody looked at it but he came good again after a few days.

I have no idea why he decided to ask for a password... but it works.

  • SSH...

    Hello

I activated the ssh ver 1 to my router, and when I run the command "sh ip ssh" is the result:

    Active SSH - version 1.5

Authentication timeout: 20 seconds; New authentication attempts: 5

I now use "putty" to access the router. His request to connect as and password. My understanding is that password is the one I've settled on vty lines, is not? What should I use in the connection like? If anyone can help please? Thank you.

You have configured the following on your VTY lines: input ssh transport

You can also check your config with the example here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk583/tk617/technologies_tech_note09186a00800949e2.shtml

    I hope this helps.

  • Creating a Clone VM of model VM using SSH console error DiskLib_Check()

    Hi all

I'm now using ESXi 3.5 u4 and I activated the SSH connection.

in a PuTTY console, I run the following command:

    1. vmkfstools-i/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/WinXPProSP3vmxp00_ md3000i/vmfs/volumes/MD3000iVMFS/WinXPProSP3_vmxp01_

to copy the virtual directory WinXPProSP3vmxp00_ in my SAN-VMFS, but then I got this error:

    * DiskLib Check() has failed for disc source the specified file is not a virtual disk (15). * _

is there a best way to do without vCenter license?

    or just use ishall

    _CP - r

    / vmfs/volumes/datastore1/VM_Templates /& lt; SOURCE & gt;

    / vmfs/volumes/datastore1 /& lt; DESTINATION & gt; _

    Instead?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

    AWT

vmkfstools only work with the drive.

The best solution is using VC.

    Converter also works very well.

But if you use the copy of files (like cp) you MUST regenerate vMAC address (when you turn on the computer virtual don't say keep!).

The virtual machine should be also customized (new name, new IP, new SID), but in any case.

  • Impossible to download the package to the ASDM

    Hello team,

I have an ongoing problem here. Initially when I bought the Cisco ASA 5505 other guys IT registered who on their own ID of ORC. Now that they have left the company and person have no contact with them.

I activated the SSH and I am able to login via putty/tera term, but when I access my device IP that is https://192.168.35.1 it gives me an error which and the page does not load. After continued research, I found that it has no ASDM package in flash player. When I went to downloads on Cisco's Web site, he asked me the Cisco ID and I have created a new and attached the device S/N and the device was attached to my CCO login. When I download it after that, it shows that I don't have a "valid service contract.

Is there a way I can download it?

Or I'm sued for my life by my boss?

You can try to look on some of the biggest Web retailer sites like CEP, but unfortunately I have no idea about the cost.  It can vary according to the statements of the feature and the level of support you are looking for.

That's it, please add any combination of encryption by using the command "ssl encryption" algorithms, please add them in one line next to each other, and you can use '? ' to check available combinations.

  • VMware Esx 5.1 close Script

    Hi guys.

I wonder if someone could help me.

We have several power outages here in South Africa and I am faced with having to close our servers regularly.

I had all our windows servers stop automatically via our software UPS (Riellio)

I tried to download the Vmware software from our support UPS page but they say that it won't work on the free version of Esx 5.1.

In turn what I've done is to create a script that runs through Plink and I'm hoping to use it on another machine to windows as a shuhtdown script.

Thus, when the windows box stops he will run the script and closed to turn the ESX I anime.

I activated the SSH on the Esxi server and when I run the stop script it stops the server very well but I read that the server must be in Maintenance mode during extinction.

I want to just make sure that it stops the Esx server with elegance.

    The script is below:

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Text of script as follows:

Plink - ssh [email protected] - pw mypassword poweroff d 10

    Vmware.pngPlink - ssh [email protected] - pw mypassword poweroff d 10

    Hello

While studying the possibility to do it via the device, you can change your order to do the following:

Plink - ssh [email protected] - pw MyPassword "esxcli system set to true maintenanceMode EI; . poweroff d 10 "

in this way the host will enter first mode of maintenance and the next order via; will be stopped.

Assuming that mean you the yellow-grey console, type dcui on the command prompt and press the Enter key.

... and also the "shell of ESXi.

It is the command-line (Tech Support Mode) you get by pressing ALT - F1 on the console.

  • vSphere cannot connect after time on the host change

I am a relative noob when it comes to virtualization.  I did a lot of research for the response, but can't find it.  Maybe you guys can help.

Connected to the host (VMWare vSphere for ESXi 4.0) management console, I changed the time on the host because he was distant.  After that, the vSphere console has become very slow, and when I clicked on another tab it has expired.

I closed vSphere and tried to reconnect and now I have a message that says:

vSphere could not connect with the server vCenter Server "[host IP address] '.

Details: A connection failure has occurred (unable to connect to the remote server)

I went directly to the physical console machine and press F2 to enter the system setup.  I restarted the management agent.  I can ping the IP address.  I can not connect via puTTy, but I do not think that I never activated the SSH access.

Has anyone ever encountered this?  What should I do?  I can't restart the host right now because the production servers are running on the VMWare.  If I have to restart later, what is the correct procedure for this? (close the BONES of the VM, and then restart the host?)

I had this happen before. I was unable to restart the services or navigate from the console. I waited until hours off-peak and connected directly in the less critical guest OS and stop them. I had to stop several before I could get access again vcenter. Once I had access i vMotioned the rest of the guests to other hosts and restarted the ESXi host. It's a risk, because if you cannot close machines you have to powercycle. You seem to have access, so you can be able to stop them from the CLI on the host.
