Our VPN 3000 Concentrator admin password has been changed by someone in order to reset the password using directly by serial cable, now the problem is it allows me to connect with admin console but not via the web administration or telnet interface. I have activated access telnet and http, but always without success. Concentrator uses the internal database so no AAA server is configured.

  The console password should be the same as the telnet and HTTP password.

  The problem doesn't seem to be on the password.

  Please check under: Administration--> access--> access control list--> and check if your IP is in the list. If this isn't the case, please add your IP address/subnet to the list for you HTTP access to the VPN concentrator.

  The RAID is a software RAID using mdadm. If you have a Linux system, it should be easy to mount hard drives SATA or eSATA or (at most) a USB to SATA converter. If you define for the journaled file system, the NAS200 uses XFS. It uses ext2 for not journaled.

  If you connect the disks on a Linux machine, you will find 3 partitions on each disk: (1) the data partition, (2) a configuration partition, and (3) a swap partition. I do not recommend making any changes to the configuration partition unless you know what you're doing.

  Connect the drive on a Linux system is going to allow you to recover things MUCH faster that to do with the NAS200 (who is actually a PC 133 headless of 486 MHz which feels like it is clocked at 100 MHz).

  If you insist to leave readers in the NAS and you wish to SSH or Telnet access, you can install my firmware . It will not affect your configuration or your hard drives, it will always be like the Linksys firmware (I only added additional features and didn't touch any of the Linksys stuff) and you can easily put the original firmware if you don't like it or don't need more.

  There is no telnet or SSH access in the default firmware.

  But I found the link interesting it specifically shows run telnet from the CMD prompt.   I am not able to do, the mistakes, I have indicated in my original post.

  So, I clicked on "Start", "Run" and type cmd and press ENTER.  I then typed in telnet you press on enter, and wow, this has worked.  So, what is the difference?

  I looked at the properties of the shortcut, I always click to open a command window.  I see that it does the following:

  C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cmd.exe

  I even clicked on start, run and then type the full path and the name "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cmd.exe".

  I typed in telnet again and it failed!  Hmmm so my computer run when I enter cmd versus C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cmd.exe?  and why is there a difference anyway?

  I find these two files and I perform a checksum on each of them, the files are the same:

When they try to connect to an FTP server that is located behind a Cisco PIX firewall, they are not able to transfer data: the connection is established, the authentication to follow, but at the stage of the 'LIST' the connection 'freeze' and the user must close the FTP client.

  Users are facing this problem ONLY in Active mode: passive mode works very well. Turn passive mode FTP client isn't acceptable workaround for most of my clients.

  The problem seems to be related only to the firewall Cisco PIX and active FTP.

  Please, what is someone encountered the same problem?

  Yes it is a (global) problem, even with the last checkpoint firewalls. What happens with Active FTP, it's that each command (get, list, etc.) causes another log on the client (source port) to the server on port 21. If you run netstat from the customer you can check this for yourself.

  What normally happens, with HTTP, FTP, telnet, which have are, it's that the client makes a connection to port 21, 23 etc then returns with a port source such as 1936, 1980, 3000, etc..

  Connect problem with statefull firewall is they do not allow multiple sessions control port number on a destination, as well as a source port can be bound to a destination port, in this case, 21 for FTP. I Don t see it changed, an extreme security risk any time soon, since it s, someone else might be hopping session and block this type of traffic, it's what the stateful firewall are all about and FTP servers are problably the machines more pirated on the planet.

  You´ve mentioned the workaround solution, unfortunately that s the only way, change your passive customers, I think that Unix/Linux customers have a problem with this, change your FTP server can also help, there are multiple servers that can be configured to disable Active FTP, I wouldn know exactly, I only network & firewall... maybe someone else can move on this...

• Enable Telnet in Cisco SF 300

  I have more than 20 SF 300 - 24 p 10/100 switches managed switch deployed and running in my business network. All these switches have activated the web configuration utility. We want to activate telnet too. But for this I know I have to visit a site, connect the switch manually with a laptop computer and enable the telnet option.

  I'm looking for how can I activate telnet in these swithches using the switch web-based configuration utility.

• Windows 7 system does not receive activated shows 20 days remaining for Activation

  We have the KMS server in our environment for activation. I am able to Ping on the KMS server with the host name and IP address. I am able to telnet to the port as well. Suite of things I tried, kindly help to get the fixed number.

  (1) deleted last updates and then tried to activate again.

  (2) uninstalled KB971033.

  (3) I tried to run slmgr.vb /ato (with elevated command prompt / run as administrator). It displays error: failed product activation.

  (4) I tried to run Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool, it shows the State of Validation as authentic.

  (5) I tried to run the other commands of slmgr as well, but no luck.

  OS version: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit

  Kindly let me know if there are other measures that I can follow.
