  I bought a HP Pavilion Slimline PC (HP S3500z) with AMD Athlon Dual core, online from HP in the United States during the year 2008, which is preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. I did the recovery also disks at this time.

  When you change the motherboard, you lose all rights to the OEM installed Vista OS.  It is called "tattoo" by HP and is a license agreement with Microsoft. Your only solution is to buy a version of the OS and sure, format the drive to lose all data. The only other alternative would have been to contact HP and ask questions on a refurbished motherboard, or a Board that is in the same group family who would accept the OEM license.

  I upgraded my card motherboard and CPU yesterday. After starting my PC I got the message->

I waited 2-3 minutes and the call has been disconnected. A dozen times more it's the same thing, I tried to make this process using another phone but it's the same thing.

  There should be a Microsoft COA 25 character sticker attached to your system.

  Try the product on the certificate of Authenticity number.

  You will need to contact HP for the service if there is no COA sticker.

  It seems that HP did not tattoo the BIOS on the new motherboard with the correct information to auto activate the operating system.

  I bought a new motherboard and chipset, leading to a new installation of my Windows 7 operating system.

  When I try to turn it on but it tells me that I can't activate windows on this computer with this key.

  Can you advise what might be the cause of this. I have the OS provided with Microsoft tag to give the key to the original packaging, and I tried several times without success.

  So I've updated to windows 10 easily and smoothly, but after only a day degraded to win7 due to trouble with networkadapters. I really liked windows 10 However and thought that's what I use on my new build, but of course I didn't for an OS completely new with material because that would be too simple to remember :)

  I don't know if my question is in the subject of law.

  You must create first recovery after upgraded media to Windows 10 on your existing system.  Right click on the Windows Logo on the taskbar, select Control Panel.  Then go to "all elements of control panel"->"recovery" and click on "create a recovery drive.  Then follow the prompts.  Adjust according to paragraph 4(b) of the LICENCE Windows 10 agreement, you can restore the operating system on the system after replacing the motherboard and processor.

  Note: You must have at least a 4GB flash drive inserted before clicking 'create a recovery drive.  And make sure you don't need anything on the flash button because it will be completely removed.

  PS: I did not myself, but according to the EULA, it is permitted, as long as Windows is removed from the old system, to transfer a purchased retail installation from one computer to another.  Someone let me know if I'm somehow wrong interpretation of this section of the EULA Windows 10 which is presented during the upgrade and also available on the system properties page in the file Explorer.

  I know this has probably been asked before, but I can't find the answer anywhere. Recently, I built my first PC and bought a copy of windows 7 OEM. After the first day that I discovered that my motherboard was faulty and is not working properly. I'll send the motherboard for a replacement, but I understand that an OEM license is only allowed for a motherboard. Really, I don't want to have to pay a new license as I just activated my first on a couple of days, and I have to change because of a broken mobo that wasn't my fault and had to be changed.

  It shouldn't really matter in your case. The bottom line, it's your new motherboard was faulty.

  If it Windows is not activated by line, use the phone activation and explain your situation to the person you are talking about. Microsoft is to understand in situations like yours.
