  I'm looking for more help on SRM 5.1 with recoverpoint instalation.

  I have instaled SRM 5.1 on two sites and two matching sites now. I'm confused about the Recoverpoint version works with MRS 5.1.

  I'm looking for someone who uses EMC RecoverPoint devices for replication of table based in a VMWare 5.x environment.

  Recently, we've been through an update of our VNX5700 EMC we use with VSphere 5.1.  As part of the upgrade, we bought two devices EMC RecoverPoint to replicate the LUNS/data warehouses on our D/R facilities.  Previously, we used the EMC MirrorView product but went with devices to reduce the load on the processors VNX.

  We got about 18 guests on the main site, all sharing a group of 19 stores of data (each data store is in its own logic unit number).

  The Recoverpoint appliance has LUNS per consistency groups.  All LUNS in a given consistency group is replicated as a unit and are recovered on D/R site
  set.

  When the provider/reseller (not EMC) has done the initial Setup, he said that, since all guests see all 19 stores of data, all LUNS must be in the same
  Group of concordance.

  The problem we see with that is that when we need to add a new logical unit number, when we add it to the consistency group, we are basically losing the replicas on the remote site until the new lun is replicated.

  In almost all cases, a given virtual machine is all on the same LUN. We don't generally distributed VM on several data stores.  I understand now all the VMDK to a VM in the same consistency group, but should we really all LUNS that all VMWare hosts see to be in the same consistency group?

  Is there a problem if we create a series of small groups of consistency, as long as we do not have VM "span" in different groups?

  We have VMWare SRM for our D/R site, but we are still in the process of implementation and was not gone live with her and have not reconfigured it since we changed the MirrorView to RecoverPoint.

  We use a VNX5400 EMC and virtual appliances RecoverPoint on vSphere 5.5. We have 9 guests with 20 stores of data that reproduce us. We have 18 consistency groups. Consistency groups unique LUN or multiple LUNS according to which servers are protected.

  I think that your provider gave you the wrong information that need to have all the LUNS in the same consistency group regarding.

  I have two hosts ESXi 5.5 with local storage and VMware vCenter device which manage them. Everything worked well until that time.

  Now when I try to make the host migration and storage, processing or power off the virtual machine, I get the error message:

  Could not complete the network for file /vmfs/volumes/.../path/to/file.vmdk copy

  The situation is the same when I try to deploy VM on ESXi-2 model that is on ESXi-1.

  All with the network configuration is correct. I have ping between the hosts on ESXi and ESXi and vCenter. No firewall hosts ESXi and vcenter. No physical firewall between hosts.

  The network latency is less than 1 ms. No packet loss.

  I read this VMware KB article: Storage migration fails with the error: could not complete network file copy and I tried solutions explained here, but the results are the same.

  You have ideas where the problem may be?

  I finally found the problem.

  ESXi servers are configured with MTU 9000, but the switch where the hosts are connected was a bug documented with frames. I found the problem after finding this article http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1003734

  I run the command of ESXi-1:

  vmkping - d-s 8972 192.168.10.12 where 192.168.10.12 is the ip address of ESXi-2

  The result was:

  3 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

  as a workaround, I reduce the MTU to 1500, then I patched the problematic switch.

  If you choose to go to CC Photoshop with Lightroom, Photoshop Elements would not be replaced.

  CC of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements are different programs, so the two will remain separate on your machine and catalogue items would not hit at all.

  We have two implementations of VMware with ESXi Standard edition licenses installed on the two site. A site has vCenter Server Foundation edition while the other has vCenter Server Standard Edition.

  The problem is that the site with vCenter Std and vSphere 5 Std doenst allow storage vMotion (see image below)

  

  While, on the other hand, site 5 Stnd vSphere with vCenter Foundation allows storage Vmotion (see image below)

  

  How is it so that vSphere Stndard this edtion of different characteristics in different places?

  I had recorded the call and found the solution... VSphere 5.0 and 5.1 gives really different set of features with the same Std license vSphere.   Take a look at the link for options available with vSphere 5.0 and 51 below.

  After watching a few google links, I want to sum-up rule for the design of Tablespace:

  1. always create tablespace locally managed (management of the measure).

  2. never create tablespace with hundreds of small data files to avoid a slower recovery.

  3. the types of segments that are used in the same way must be stored together.

  4. the system must be designed for the most common usage.

  5. the regions should be exceptions.

  6 feud among storage space should be kept to a minimum.

  7. the data dictionary must be isolated.

  8. always give a name to the tablespace; so it may be easy to know what contains this tablespace.

  10. all names are uppercase. Or at least unimportant in which case. Ignoring this rule usually leads to making reference to the tables and the columns very clumsy because all names must be in double quotes.

  11. the first character of the name must be a letter.

  12. keep meaningful names, but at the same time, do not use long_names_describing_every_single_detail_of_particular_object.

  Consider this scenario for a typical daily load of an intermediate table

  1. Empty the table of yesterday's data - TRUNCATE it
  2. Load the table with today's data - INSERT 
  

  If you load a large number of records it takes time for Oracle to allocate storage for records
  When you use Oracle TRUNCATED must return the storage allocated to the pool.
  Then when you INSERT new records, that oracle has to allocate the space that he could have used, but returned to the pool.

  If you use TRUNCATE... RE-USE of STORAGE Oracle truncates the table but keep the storage and it will reuse the same storage
  When you do the INSERT instead of having to take the time to allocate new storage.

  So, there are two options to speed up ETL processes like that.
  1. use TRUNCATED... RE-USE of STORAGE and a standard INSERT query

  2. use TRUNCATE and INSERT / * + APPEND * / and make the table NOLOGGING to INSERT it. This will make a big
  load. Oracle must allocate space, but the load mass will make them more effective than a standard INSERT.

  Storage of back to the pool takes time, so REUSE STORAGE of coding may be faster. The real advantage comes with the next load of data, however if you use a standard INSERT (and not in BULK or direct load) because Oracle failed to reallocate storage.
