Adapter WUSB100 won't save a WEP key

I installed 3 times this adapter in Win XP Pro, but every time that I reboot, I have to start the entire process. It does not record the WEP key for some reason any. Does anyone else have this problem?

Uninstall the Linksys software/Monitor and re-install the adapter and utility (wzc) of winxp use to connect to your wireless network...

After uninstalling the card, remove the adapter and just put the cd in the cd-rom... When you get the Welcome screen, you must click exit... Now connect the adapter and look for the detected hardware new message... Click on install software automatically (recommended) and click Next. It will install the drivers for the cards... Once completed, right click on the wireless connection icon is displayed in the right corner of your computer screen and select view available wireless networks. Select your network from the list and click on connect, you should get a prompt to enter your network key... Enter your WEP key and confirm that and click on connect... It needs to connect to your network and the internet, both... This will automatically create your wireless network profile and your WEP key will be saved...

Salvation; on my satellite p20 there is not enough space to enter a wep key of 26 characters (only 24 places) can someone advise how to configure to accept the 26 characters
    Rgds david

    Hi David

When you enter your password, only 24 points will be displayed. Please enter the set password and save. When you open it again the number of points will be different again. It is a kind of security features and do not show the actual password length.

  • Problem: WEP key 13-digit

I am trying to get my (wpc54g v3) Wireless PCMCIA card I use in my old laptop working on another.  Both are running Windows 2000 SP4, both set up correctly and that you can see their networks.

The problem is that, on this new machine, I connect to a network that uses a configuration WEP opened with a 13-digit hexadecimal WEP key.  All the WinXP / computers laptops Vista connect properly, asking for the WEP key on trying to connect, and their properties reported as open WEP (no WPA - PSK or one of those).

However, since it's Win2k, I use the Linksys software to connect, and it only accepts the key WEP 10 or 26 digits.  The end result is easily finds the network, she will not receive any data from the router because it cannot validate.

    I tried:

1 put the WEP key in the "passphrase" box and leaving it translates into a 64 - bit WEP key

2 put the WEP key in the "passphrase" box and leaving it translates into a 128 - bit WEP key

    3. put the first 10 digits in the box of 64-bit WEP keys

4 put the last 10 digits in the box of 64-bit WEP keys

5 put the 13 figures in the 128-bit WEP key, 0 to end padded box

    5. put the 13-digit in the 128-bit WEP key, 0 padded box initially

6 export a profile, manually editing with a hex editor to replace all four locations of the WEP keys generated by the 13-digit key that is used by the router, then in important profile

8 using the WEP key in all other available modes 13-digit (WPA - PSK, etc.)

So far, none of this has resulted in the NIC authenticate correctly, and the monitor of the package confirms the network card not getting any info from the router.

The network is a network of schools, so I don't have permission to change the password to a key WEP 10 or 26 digits. If I remember correctly the router is a Netgear router.  I use the v3.1 software available for download on the site, corresponding to the type of adapter that I have.  Briefly tried the v7 software after all this testing, but determined that it was for a different product (a USB adapter, more precisely).

    Any ideas?

I finally figured it out on my own, so this can be marked as resolved.

I'm assuming that the 13-digit WEP code was a hexadecimal key because it contained only numbers and letters from A to F.  However, during this dismantlement of its hexadecimal ascii pairs 2-digit values (for example, a = 65, b is 66, 0 = 30, 1 = 31, etc.) I found myself with a 26-digit hexadecimal value that worked.

Unfortunately the Linksys Setup does not have to enter codes of 26 hexadecimal digits 128-bit WEP encryption as their 13-digit ascii code equivalent, thus the confusion.  I hope that this capacity will be added to future versions, if these cards support continues...

This means that a different password was in effect at this point, even if your daughter thinks otherwise. There are a lot of options built into Windows to help you out of this situation:
    • Log on to your account admin to spare, and then reset the password for your existing account (works only if you set up an alternative admin account).
    • Log in as administrator mode without failure, then reset the password for your existing account (the password is usually empty).
    • Insert your flash drive USB with the password key file (only works if you have taken the time to create such a key file).
    • Use the password indicator (only works if an indicator was created and if it's good enough to allow you to guess the password)
    • Check your paper files (works only if you threw down the password somewhere)
The most important point would be: run a machine without a spare admin account is about as risky to have a house key. Sooner or later, he is at risk for any number of reasons.

  • Why my iCloud won't save my photos

I bought more storage but iCloud won't save my photos, I have 50 GB of data and its available 49.1 says. I'm afraid that if I restore it I won't lose all my photos and videos.

What makes you think that iCloud is not back up your photos? If you use iCloud photo library, the photos are "stored" in iCloud, but not in the backup.

The problems are gone now. However, I'll never know exactly what that caused them. When I restarted the computer in safe mode problems continue. But when I tried to restart my computer does not recognize the hard drive in safe mode or in normal mode.

It is possible that the Firefox problems were caused by a faulty hard drive.

I was able to rebuild the directory with Disk Warrior and transfer my files, but the disk would not boot. Fortunately, I had a spare hard drive. I installed and reloaded all my software and data from scratch. I also downloaded the latest version of Firefox. Firefox works fine now.

Thanks for all your suggestions. They may not have fixed this particular problem, but I learned a few new tricks from you to solve other problems.

  • Why is the box to remember password is gray? It used to work now it won't save them.

Why is the box to remember password is gray? It used to work now it won't save them.

This could be because you have set Firefox not remember the history. Who did you intentionally? It is defined in the Options dialog box:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > privacy

Maybe it would work if you choose "Use the custom settings for history" and not to turn off specific things that you want to disable.

    A little luck?

  • Why do I get an incorrect WEP key during the installation of my printer?

    Product - specific document

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00772798

    I worked for HP.

This work also (well) with the J6480 printer.  I was using a Linksys router Wireless 'G' which creates 4 WEP keys, allowing you to choose which use.  I sent #2 key and it would not accept.  The only way I could make it work was to disable wireless security, is not my idea of a good option.  After numerious emails and 1 appeal to support with no ideas that I decided to seek out here and finally managed to do accept the WEP key.  I ended up completely uninstall/reinstall to get everything to work 100%, but now it works like a charm.  For those of you with a similar problem, when using a router that generates more than 1 WEP key, try using (sending) key #1

HP Note: your support by e-mail/voice should be as good as your online forum support

    Thanks to DaniW-now I'm a happy camper

  • Printer all in one HP3520 - how to select the wireless network and enter the WEP key?

According to print my wireless network is detected.

How to connect the! @# % printer $ fo the wireless network and enter the WEP key?

Instructions on the HP site tell me to selet NETWORK on the printer control panel.  Well, there's a way to select the NETWORK from the control panel.  It is not an option for him.

I downnloaded and installed the latest drivers.

I have restored the default settings.

How to select the wireless network and enter the WEP key?

All of HP's instructions seem to be for a newer printer with a touchscreen.

I want that the printer is connected to my main computer via the USB port.  I want to be able to print wireless phones and tablets.

My 3520 is not a 'touch Screen' and it has wifi.

    However, the following work:

Try to open the HP Deskjet 3520 icon, open the utilities tab, click on convert USB wireless, by following the steps on the screen.

This leads me to believe that ONLY the wireless doesn't work.  I know now that the part of the sentence "Convert USB to wireless connection" is supposed to mean "works like USB and wireless.

  • I am unable to adapt both the screen saver is activated

I am unable to adapt both the screen saver is activated, I put the link, but it acts as if it was before progrmmed?

Also is there a way to avoid to connect every time?

The problem with these parameters is that they overlap.  The screen saver setting is perhaps not the one place to look: you should also watch your 'screen time out", as well as waiting times"lock screen ".  In addition, it could be the energy saving sleep timer.  From the point of view of the user, they all look the same (the screen turns off), but to get the desired exact situation, you may need to check up to 4 places.

    1. Right-click on the desktop > personalize > screen saver
Even if you do not use a screensaver, this timer value is used to lock the screen.  The value 'none' and make sure that the check box is disabled, it does not require a password.
