I need a laptop for use in the library of my church. That I'll be using iWorks 9.0 on. This will be used for presentations, the topics of discussion paper, etc. on a television screen.  I'm looking at a MacBook Pro 2010.  Have a desktop at home. Don't want to spend a lot of money.     You should be able to double-click the Lightroom catalog that you copied from your Mac, and Lightroom should open. But do you know that you need copy images as well?

  • Sync Palm TX with MacBook

    I recently changed my Dell (Windows) to a MacBook laptop.  On the Dell, I didn't have no problem my TX with Palm Desktop synchronization for several years and then had problems towards the end (my entire obtained calendar deleted... twice... on the desktop and the TX).  The problem was the motherboard of Dell.  So I thought that it was time to switch to a Mac.

    Yesterday, I downloaded the Palm software on my new MacBook and was therefore void of address book, calendar, notes, etc..  I then tried to sync the TX with Palm Desktop.  Because I had problems with my downloads on the Dell I have configured the parameter to have the alternative Pocket Office (I didn't run the risk of having empty Palm desktop on the deletion of MacbBook information on my TX).  Synchronization worked for notes and the address book (although some of the notes of the addresses did not carry).  For the calendar, that little information has been copied to the MacBook and I got this note: "the calendar synchronization failed,"Calendar"is not (error = there not enough memory.).  How is it possible that there is not enough memory?  I have almost nothing on my MacBook, and there are 80% of free space on my TX.

    While for most of the dates on the calendar that no information has been copied from the TX from Palm desktop, for a few dates some calendar information has been copied, but not all.  I wonder if the system is only to copy the calendar data as it was several months ago and not the current calendar on the TX information.

    Can anyone help?

  • Time Capsule no longer works in conjunction with the ISP modem

    Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any help you can provide, and my apologies if similar topics have already answered - rushed for this post, so I did not have too much time to browse the forums - please point me in the right direction if other threads exist!

    I'm in the United Kingdom and Virgin like my ISP... I had my Time Capsule for almost a year now and if it had connected to the Virgin Super Hub (dial-up Modem mode), without any problems. A few weeks back, I started to notice the drops intermittent in the Internet, until it finally went down all together without apparent reason. Now I can no longer use the Network Time Capsule using a Macbook, laptop computer Windows, Smartphone, Tablet, or Console games (I can always connect to the network, but there is 'no internet'). After talking at length with Virgin they basically blame the Time Capsule and say they cannot help me because it is not their technology. Since cutting the Capsule and turning back on the Super hub wireless, everything works again. I tried the simple things like rebooting, check connections etc., but to no avail.

    I have a lot of backups on the time Capsule (I use it for work purposes), so I'm afraid to play with things too in case they are deleted, but now desperately need to get operational new... Should I look for to reset the Capsule of time and/or remove/reset the wireless network I created when the first set up (if everything resets is possible without deleting the stored files)? Any help or advice would be much appreciated... Sorry for the long post!

    The first part is to ease your mind... the TC is perfectly ok with reset... nothing can be deleted by using the reset button or reset everything in airport utility... the only way to erase the hard drive is to clear its contents through the disk tab in the airport utility.

    We noticed a lot of problems with the WAN port on the TC... And a bunch of modems... This can happen a day or day 366... but once it starts, it doesn't go away.

    Connect the TC in the Virgin hub working in router mode full... you're going to fill the TC.

    1 factory reset the TC.

    Universal factory reset

    Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

    NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

    2. make a new configuration of your Mac or iOS devices.

    With the wan of the TC plugged into the hub of Virgin by ethernet it should choose default wire bridge... If this isn't the case, manually change the configuration.

    3. once it is bridged leave the connection of the Virgin hub since the LAN of the TC port WAN... and see how it goes...

    If it works ok for the backup then continue to use it... If it's still questions... Please post screenshots... or consider to resume to apple... in the United Kingdom, you should have a legal guarantee of a couple of years... much longer warranty Apple offer directly.

    I have always used a desktop computer.  Now, I need to be mobile.  Should I buy an iBook or a Tablet?  What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?  Which is more compatible with the iMaC OS X 10.10?

    I own both an iPad and a MacBook laptop, so it's something I can answer... sorta a little. First of all, so that the Apple iPad is compatible with OS X 10.10, which does not mean that it works the MacOS. The iPad and the iPhone run a variant of the Mac called iOS operating system. So if you want to run Mac software you have buy a Macintosh laptop. An iPad is compatible with Yosemite in the sense that given that you create on the Mac, for the most part, can be used and even edited in a software similar on the iPad. I use Microsoft Word on my MBP and can change those files (or even start new Word) on my iPad. But the iPad version of Windows has all the features of the Mac version. It is fairly typical of Mac/iOS software. Mac programs are richer in functionality than the versions of the iPad.

    The iPad shines in portability. I use mine all day for 12 to 14 hours before it needs a recharge while my MBP Gets a little longer than half that. The iPad is smaller and weighs much less. I took on the TRIPS Agreement without my computer and missed the computer not at all, or only a few. But there are some things that are simply more easy to do on the computer. In short, I might not do an iPad replace my computer entirely but it's a great complement to it.

    I need a copy of safari 6.1 or 7.0... I can't find a copy of anywhere. The reason why I need is for my wife uses a software which is only compatible with former apple software, but all the stuff for windows. They don't do much with the Mac. : /

    I've just updated this computer of Lion in Yosemite. Should I go back to Lion or another operating system to return to one of these versions of safari?

    I spent more than 4 hours with the I.T. people to his work trying to get the software/service online to work on this computer. It works on the iPad, but does not work on the Macbook laptop. The last thing the I.T. specialist said was trying to find a copy of a people or these two versions of this safari to try all their measures to get on their online service.

    It loads a VPN through a Web site online... It is not policy of the company to inform the VPN to install on a computer of the company no. (I asked because a smaller hospital I.T. service helped me to install their VPN on to their remote connection on my computer).

    any way, any help or suggestions on how to find these versions of Safari would be very appreciated!

    You can no longer download Safari 6.0 or 7.0 of Safari.  The latest version of Safari is 9.0.3 any link that you will find on the Internet meant to allow download you or the other of these two versions should be considered suspicious and dangerous for your computer.  You can return to Lion, if you want, but you need a Time Machine backup of when you use Lion first.

    I'm a little upset, I received an e-mail from Netgear, that my router security can be compromised by the remote password management process. Get answers to Netgear is a bit tedious and difficult.     I must say that documentation that accompanies my desire 5532 was pretty non-existent.  I use the printer with a HP Pavilion laptop wireless, an Apple MacBook laptop and an Apple iPad.  I have several questions about printing with my Envy 5532 printer:

    (2) can I toggle back and forth between tradional 1 sided print and print 2 sides?

    I see you're wondering how to set up printing double-sided with your HP Envy 5532. I'm happy to help you!

    To set up duplex printing, I recommend you to go through this guide, print on both sides of the paper (duplex) for HP ENVY 5530 e-all-in-one and Deskjet Ink Advantage 4510 e - all-in - One Printer Series, such that it has instructions for Windows and Mac. Also, here are some tips for you to follow:

    Include the following can help you to avoid potential problems when printing on both sides of the page.
    Do not print on both sides of the following types of paper, or jams may occur:

    • Transparencies
    • Envelopes
    • Photo paper
    • Glossy paper
    • Paper lighter than 60 g/m2 (16 lb).
    • Heavier than 105 g/m2 (28 lb) paper.

    Several kinds of paper require a specific orientation when you print on both sides of a sheet. It's letterhead, preprinted paper and paper with watermarks and pre-perfores holes. The printer will print the first side of the first book. Load paper with the top edge first and the side to be printed facing downwards.

    In addition, this post, Vista / Win 7 Duplex printing Troubleshooting Guide, by @Bob_Headrick. Maybe some answers for you as well.

    In the print dialog box (after selection file and print), you will see a box next to duplex printing, which can be checked or unchecked, to toggle between the two functions.

    To change the print quality, you want to go through this guide, the series e-all-in-one HP ENVY 5530 and series of e-all-in-one HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4510 - Print Documents (Windows).

  • OfficeJet Pro 8610: No desktop Windows 7 printing and Officejet Pro 8610

    I bought and installed a new 8610 Officejet Pro about a month ago.  My desktop computer is a unit of HP Windows 7.  The printer is wireless.

    Until a few days ago, everything worked fine, but now I can't print anything from my desktop computer.  Printing from my computer MacBook laptop works very well.  Printing from my iphone is fine.  Digitization of the desktop computer is fine.  Webprinting is fine.  The printer icon has a nice green checkmark in the devices folder.

    I ran printing HP and doctor Scan, which claims to solve a problem of port, but does not solve the problem.

    I use windows to troubleshoot the connection, claiming to make the printer available to my homegroup, but it does not solve the problem.

    I tried to change the security settings for the spooler.  Has not solved the problem.

    I can not manually stop and star the spooler via prompt back.  Said system 5, access denied error.

    It's maddening.  I got rid of my old printer (which must be printed from the office) so that I could have a capacity of wireless printing, and now I have the ability wireless, but impossible to print from my desktop.  Aaaaggghhhhhh!

    Thanks for getting back to me on this subject. Now I'll have to charge you another Officejet driver on your product. Because the network connection is fine, and scanning is still fine, I do not think that the problem you are experiencing is connectivity or related software. This driver replacement, I'll have to charge you will work exactly the same way as the e-all-in-one printer driver Officejet Pro 8610. Therefore, you won't lose all the features by this fix. Please, try the following steps.

    Step 1: Clear the temporary files:

    1. Click on the Start menu
    2. In the box "search programs and files" located just above to start after you click on it, type %temp% , and then press enter on your keyboard
    3. When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will highlight now.
    4. Select the "delete" button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains the temporary internet files. None of the actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting Temp files. A Temp file should you will automatically get the pop up to 'jump' this point.
    5. Close the Temp folder when it is empty
    6. Right-click the recycling bin on your desktop and select empty recycling bin

    Please proceed to the next step.

    Step 2: Load driver replacing:

    1. Please click hereto download the Officejet driver
    2. Once the download is complete, you can get a command prompt to run the download. If you see the prompt run, please let it run.
    3. An extraction should now take place. When the extraction is complete, an install window can jump open. Please close windows install everything. You do not want to run a facility.
    4. Then, click on the Start menu. In the box "search programs and files" type folder and press enter on your keyboard
    5. When the Temp folder opens, find the file 7z. Click this folder to open it. It should include files that say OJ860
    6. At the top of this file, you will see a file path bar. It may show something like "computer - disc Local C - users - AppData - Local - Temp - 7z... " Left click on the right side of this path to file on the top bar. The path should now highlight.
    7. Right click on the highlighted file path and select copy
    8. Close the Temp folder
    9. Click on the Start menu
    10. Select the devices and printers
    11. Right click on your HP Officejet 8610
    12. Left click on printer properties
    13. Left click on the Advanced tab
    14. Left-click on new driver
    15. When the new window opens driver hit please 'Next' until you see a list of manufacturers and Printers
    16. Click the "disk" button at the bottom right
    17. When the "install from disk" window opens, we simply right click on the file path bar and 'Paste' in the path to the copied file previously.
    18. Click OK
    19. When prompted choose the HP Officejet 8600 printer and click "Next" until the driver window add farm
    20. Under printer properties , select apply, but don't hit not OK
    21. Select the general tab
    22. Rename your printer in HP Officejet Pro 8610
    23. Click OK

    Now that the other pilot Officejet was responsible, please test print in order to confirm if the printing problem is resolved.

    Thanks for the suggestions, none of them had however.  The solution was to allow the width of the channel must be set to Auto 20 or 40 mhz, selecting only 20 mhz or individually selecting the 40 mhz would not so much my son computer macbook laptop and my IBM thinkpad to connect. But the default configuration which is set would not work.
