Add a Windows 7 VM in a virtual domain

Hello

I would add a Windows 7 VM in a virtual domain, that I created.

Server: Windows Server 2012 R2 - ADDS the role and the DNS have been installed.

Workstation: Windows 7 Professional

Both have an IP address which is 192.168.182

I can ping the machines between them...

The AD account for the computer is created.

If anyone has an idea...

Thank you

  • How to add "Add to Windows Media Player list" to the context Menu of the specific file types

I use Windows XP Professional 64-bit and I can't understand how to do this, even after hours of reading on google.

When I right click. MP3 files or. AVI files, they give the option to context menu "Add to Windows Media Player list" but other files that I wish it would show for such as. MKV or. AAC, I can't show him for. I have searched everywhere in the windows registry and cannot for the life of understand me this.

It works perfectly well and appears on our windows vista computer and the old 32-bit windows xp computer, but it does not appear on my new current.

How I'd go about adding this choice "Add to Windows Media Player list" when I right click on. MKV and. AAC files?

  • Add/Remove window has a big empty space (hole)

XP Pro SP3. When I opened the Add/Remove window, and after that it populates the list of programs, there is a large white space (hole). Well, AutoCAD would come after AVG (in alphabetical order).

BurrWalnut was probably right, but there are actually several things that cause this problem if AutoCAD is involved.

Supposedly, people AutoCAD fixed ths some time ago and my notes are a little old, but here's what I have:

Before making any changes to your registry, save it with this free and popular tool:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

According to me, the problem is the index of the icon for AutoCAD is wrong or the file icon is missing and we can deal with either.

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Regedit

Click OK to open the registry editor.

Navigate to where is all the stuff to add/remove programs:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

Find what I think is the entrance of AutoCAD:

    {5783F2D7-0101-0409-0000-0060B0CE6BBA}

You can be sure, by looking at the entry DisplayName on the right side to be sure it's AutoCAD. I hope that you don't have to hunt for him.

Check the value of Exposeicon on the right side and if it is - 1, double-click the value and change it to 1 and then exit regedit. If it is not - 1, tell me what it is.

    Restart and test.

Hello im trying to find the parameters (or file) for the universal plug an Interface Play (UPnP) anyone know where I can find this file and how to get there?

    Thank you for your time

UPnP has changed its name to Vista and really did not all other parameters only on or off.  It also works different in Vista than XP.  It is practically necessary only for ICS and thus more/stop toured.  Other changes to port settings that were once controlled by uPnP must now be done through the router or Windows Firewall.  See the following:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/02/12/turn-on-and-enable-upnp-or-network-discovery-in-windows-vista/.  The following thread can also shed light on the situation:http://help.wugnet.com/vista/UPnP-Framework-Vista-ftopict109931.html.

To answer the other question, add /' remove Windows components.

Turning on or turning on components Vista Windows (from http://www.real-knowledge.com/vistacomponents.htm):

    1. Click the Start button located in the lower left corner of the Windows Vista desktop.
    2. Then click on Control Panel.
    3. In the Control Panel, click programs.
    4. Now click on Windows to enable or disable features to show all the features.
    5. To activate a feature of Windows Vista, select the check box next to the feature.
    6. To disable a Windows Vista feature, clear the check box next to the feature.
    7. Now click on the button OK to have Windows Vista save and apply your changes.
    8. Then, close the Panel open windows to return to your Windows session.
    9. Depending on what features you turned on or off, Windows may ask you to reboot.

    I hope this helps.

  • Conversion from a physical to a virtual domain controller domain controller

    Hello everyone!

I was wondering if you guys can help me. We are running a physical server Proliant DL 360 Gen 8 as our physical domain controller. The host runs HP VMware 5.5 Update 1, and the domain controller running Windows Server 2012

I am looking to convert it to a virtual DC as a backup. I would like to add it to a host computer currently running three VM. I have a few questions.

    (1) is there a way where if the physical domain controller goes down, that the virtual server is brought online automatically?

    (2) are there caveats to a physical domain controller in a virtual domain controller?

    (3) is there a step by step guide on the process of conversion from a physical to a virtual domain controller domain controller?

    (4) what should I stop all services on the physical server during the conversion?

    (5) that I would be able to take the virtual domain controller and make like a secondary domain controller?

    Thank you

No, you misunderstood. For additional availability, you must implement a 2nd DC as a virtual machine now and leave this race. Don't bother to put something automagic, just the 2nd DC easy running.

Backups should always be done on a regular basis, because they might be useful if two domain controllers fail for some reason any.

  • How to connect my virtual domain to the Internet through my host?

    Hello

I set up a domain with a network bridge windows environment. My problem: I can not connect to the internet. This is my setup:

    Env of the HOST:

    IP: 192.168.178.x (DHCP)

    Gateway = 192.168.178.1

    DNS = 192.168.178.1 Server

    VM (Briged):

    IP address: 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.x.x

    Subnet: 255.255.0.0

    Gateway: 192.168.178.1

    DNS: 10.0.0.1

The DNS server for the virtual network must be set to 10.0.0.1 cause I have a windows with the running dns server domain controller and clients that connect to it.

When I change the dns on the VM to 192.168.178.1 server while everything works. But when I change it back to 10.0.0.1, and then it doenst work.

How I do that my virtual network can connect to the internet? Whats wrong here?

    I'm not a networking expert, I am a developer

Assuming you're running Windows 2008 R2, open your server DNS 'properties' and add your router address physical 192.168.178.1 (which I assume is a DNS redirector too) to the "Forwarders" tab Also, check the box for indications of root on this tab.

  • Virtual domain controllers

We have a Windows 2003 domain controller physical and a virtual domain controller. We are in the process of upgrading our domain to Windows 2008. We plan race for prep AD this weekend stuff. However, we are seeking emergency plans in case there is a problem and we must return to how the area looked before execution of the preparation.

A plan is that if there is a problem that brings us back we close the physical DC and restore the virtual domain from backup controller, clean the virtual domain controller and then rebuild the physical DC. It has also been suggested that we just instant the DC before we do the preparation and then return back from the snapshot (physical DC could be rebuilt). My thought is that we do not want to go back to a snapshot on a domain controller, but I can't get people to accept this without being able to explain why. I have been asked how it's different from restoring a backup VMDK.

Can anyone help with a good easy to understand explanations of why we do not want to come back from a snapshot and how restoring a VMDK backup is different than using the snapshot? Someone at - it the right best practices documents from VMWare that could explain it better? I found a document that talks about Virtualization ActiveDirectory and I read that but I'm looking for as much information as I can get.

    Thank you.

  • The host of windows 7, Linux on a virtual machine as a guest

    Greetings:

I want to install Virtual box with Linux as a guest on my laptop with windows 7 ultimate.

I have almost 2 GB of Ram.

What is a locked memory? in other words, even when I don't use VB with linux as a guest, host system can still not use full 2 GB of RAM?

also when I use (windows 7 ultimate) host and guest (ubuntu), I might add to virtual memory to keep the machine running slowly?

and one last question, then the installation of Virtual box I lose the internet connection after installing, everything will be fine? no problems?

  • Add copied hard disk (VMDK) on a virtual machine

I'm new to PowerCLI and can't seem to find information on this "new" process

I'm looking to automate the addition of a cloned hard disk (VMDK) VM (1) to an another VM (2) existing.  I figured out how "Hard drive copy" VM1 VM2 data store, but can't the formula to VM2.

To copy the disc, I use the following command:

    $vm1 = "name of vm1.

    $vm2 = "name ofthe virtual machine 2 .

    $ds = "datastor" e

    Get-disk hard - VM $vm1 | Where {$_.} CapacityGB - lt 10} | Copy-hard drive - DestinationPath ' [$ds] vm2 $/ $vm2 - 2.vmdk '-Force

In fact, here is what it looks like:

    Get-disk hard - VM System1. Where {$_.} CapacityGB - lt 10} | Copy-hard drive - DestinationPath "[NFS2] System2/System2 - 2.vmdk '-Force

MISTLETOE we do today via vCenter is - change the s parameter > Hardware tab > Add > hard drive > use an existing virtual disk > Browse > check the virtual device node (SCSI 0: (x) - and it works.)  I can start VM2 and the Windows operating system works very well and everyone is happy.

To set the hard drive via PowerCLI, I use the following command:

    New-disk-hard - VM $vm2 - DiskPath "[$ds] $vm2/vm2 $-2.vmdk»

In fact, here is what it looks like:

    New- hard drive - VM System2 - DiskPath ' [NFS2] System2/System2-2.vmdk '

When I run the command, I see vCenter 'work' and then error with Incompatible device support specified for the device '0'.  I have ready many forums reporting the error when you perform a RDM or tries to add a secondary SCSI controller, I don't want to do.

    A few things to note:

Must be on the default 0 (Virtual LSI Logic SAS) SCSI controller

Virtual device node must be SCSI 0:2 (it would be a third drive on the system)

The data store is a different data store that the other disks attached to VM2 (discs 1 and 2 are on NFS1, new drive would be on NFS2).

When I first copy the disc, it indicates the persistence as unknown, do not know if this is a factor. Any help would be appreciated.

    Lol, I'll type slowly

No, I'm afraid that we cannot change the API, or the coding behind the cmdlet.

But we can call the APIs directly from PowerCLI, something like this for example

    function add-HD { param($VMname, $Filename, $Controller)

      $dsName = $Filename.Split(']')[0].TrimStart('[')

      $vm = (Get-VM $VMname).ExtensionData $ds = (Get-Datastore -Name $dsName).ExtensionData

      foreach($dev in $vm.config.hardware.device){ if ($dev.deviceInfo.label -eq $Controller){ $CntrlKey = $dev.key } } $Unitnumber = 0 $DevKey = 0

      foreach($dev in $vm.config.hardware.device){    if ($dev.controllerKey -eq $CntrlKey){      if ($dev.Unitnumber -gt $Unitnumber){$Unitnumber = $dev.Unitnumber}      if ($dev.key -gt $DevKey) {$DevKey = $dev.key}    }  }

      $spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineConfigSpec  $spec.deviceChange = @()  $spec.deviceChange += New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualDeviceConfigSpec  $spec.deviceChange[0].device = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualDisk  $spec.deviceChange[0].device.backing = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualDiskFlatVer2BackingInfo  $spec.deviceChange[0].device.backing.datastore = $ds.MoRef  $spec.deviceChange[0].device.backing.fileName = $Filename  $spec.deviceChange[0].device.backing.diskMode = "independent_persistent"  $spec.deviceChange[0].device.key = $DevKey + 1  ## The UnitNUmber SCSIID 7 is reserved for the Controller - so ignore it and skip to 8.  if ($Unitnumber -eq 6) {$Unitnumber = $Unitnumber + 1}  $spec.deviceChange[0].device.unitnumber = $Unitnumber + 1  $spec.deviceChange[0].device.controllerKey = $CntrlKey  $spec.deviceChange[0].operation = "add"  $vm.ReconfigVM_Task($spec)}

    Add-HD -VMname "System2" -FileName "[NFS2] System2/System2-2.vmdk" -Controller "SCSI Controller 0"

I created a function called Add - HD, which will do more or less the same thing, just as the cmdlet New-hard drive when it is used with the name parameter file, but instead to call the cmdlet, the function calls the API ReconfigVM_Task directly.

The downside of this is that we will have to compile the parameter passed to this method.

In fact, most of the PowerCLI cmdlets do exactly the same thing, they call the API methods.

You can view these calls when you draw a cmdlet with the tool of Onyx .
