Add LUNS pre-formatted

I have a server iscsi with some database LUN and VM files on them.  When I had to rebuild my ESX servers, I am now unable to add these old LUNs to the system.  ISCSI HBA sees the ok, bu lun Eelle does not show storage under available devices, and it gives me only the possibility to the foramt, them who, obviously, I don't want to do what they are already in VMFS format and contain configured VMs.  How can I re-add-the to my host ESX without having to reformat?

Thank you

You will probably will those LUNs. I haven't done on ESX4 yet, but it should be an advanced named EnableResignature parameter you have to value 1 then Reanalyze the LUNS (and set the parameter to 0). It worked in the past when you have, for example, moved hard disks with VMFS volumes between the hosts.

See the following article for a detailed explanation of the process:

http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=9453805&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=22247066&StateID=0%200%2022245143

It should work like this with ESX4 as well, but I have not tested myself yet.

Also, some nice information on this one and another parameter:

  • How to add a LUN VMFS format without formatting? in vSphere 5.1

Hi people, we need to mount a store of data that was previously seconded.

Is it supposed to be an option called: EnableResignature or > DisallowSnapshotLun but is not present in vSphere 5.1.

Can someone has a workaround for this? We just need to set up a data store without formatting!

We use vSphere 5.1 Ent.Plus Lic.

    Help, please!

    Concerning

You can always re - mount an individual to a host data store if he is always aware that the data store was just disassembled.

Options EnableResignature or DisallowSnapshotLun is relevant only if you present a new LUN with the VMFS volume to a host that already has a volume mounted by the same UUID of VMFS (for example a volume snapshot of SAN-side).

Since few releases ESXi, you don't even have to set the options manually beforehand. It comes when you add the data store in the vSphere Client will ask you what to do, whether it is the will of the volume. Will simply means just assign another name VMFS UUID and the data store, that's all.

He does not reformat the LUN. So that you can move forward, then up the LUN.

  • Failed to add LUN storage

HI, I am trying to add a new storage and after selecting the LUN, I get the following message:

Call "HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreCreateOptions" of object "ha-datastoresystem" on ESXi '10.212.77.30' failed.

The LUN is 465 GB in size and it's hosted on a HP MSA60, I recreated the LUN several times and still not the same error, what could be the cause for it?

    Resolution:

VMware cannot format some LUNS but windows can and once the logical unit number is in the format Windows, vmware can reformat

Create a virtual Windows machine test and fix a new hard drive and select the LUN as a raw device Mapping...

    Connect to Windows VM Test

    Open disk management

and re-run the analysis for the new drive

    Format the new drive

VI - change the settings of the virtual machine and remove the new drive

Now, try to add it as a new storage device... This works.

  • Add element pre/post text

    Hi all

I need to define pre / post text element using oracle sql. I did create a report region and add items of apex dynamically using sql queries.

now, I need set items pre/post to one of these question. Assume that the question is - this

    apex_item. Text (3, C." (DAYS', ' 10', ' 10',' attributes).

Is this possible? If possible how do I do this. Very grateful for your support.

    Thank you and best looks

What does that mean? What part of pre/post text? Why is it necessary? What SQL?

I did create a report region and add items of apex dynamically using sql queries.

Why a comparison of the region? Why not use a standard form where text pre - and post-element are built-in options?

now, I need set items pre/post to one of these question. Assume that the question is - this

    apex_item. Text (3, C." (DAYS', ' 10', ' 10',' attributes).

The obvious answer is simply to concatenate text required to control generated dynamically in the query:

    ...
      ' ' || apex_item.text(3,C."DAYS",'10','10','attributes') || ' ' ||
    ...

Better would be to separate concerns, retrieving data in the query:

    ...
    , pre
    , apex_item.text(3,C."DAYS",'10','10','attributes') ctrl
    , post
    ...

and the construction of supplement appropriate HTML in the column Expression of HTML:

    #PRE# #CTRL# #POST#

Even better would be a full explanation of the requirements so that we can determine if it is a question of XY, and if there is a better implementation...

  • Y at - it a plugin or something that can insert pre-formatted objects?

    Hello!

I'm a fan of science fiction journal. I write and design.

When I say 'object' I mean a group of components that work together. For example: A title, signature of the journalist, the text and other elements (like the graphic elements for some special objects, such as reviews or illustration).

I keep these objects to a master page, but as new formats are appearing, it gets a little crowded. I thought about opening a new master page and copy - paste the new formats it.

Where I work they have software customized as you enter a "figure" (it's what they call it) and pasted the object required with everything in place. For example: if I need a 5 column title, I must type "title5col" on the software and it should paste this object formatted meadow, the box title, subtitle, the signature box and the text box, with the right size and the spacing between the boxes.

Is there a plugin or other who does something like that? That contains my items and I can call them when I need them, instead of copy - paste every time masters?

I hope that I was clear. Any question, ask away. Thank you very much.

Sounds like a good option for you would be to Snippets.

This means 50 mintes of 00:50

    This means 59, 00:59 minutes

00:146 the total should be 146 minutes and in the format: 00000 IE total field should show 00:146 which means of 146 minutes and if the total is 10000 minutes it should as 00:10000

  • After formatting main HD and reinstall Vista 64, it cannot access a hard drives he could access format pre

I can't access a secondary SATA disk on my Vista 64 installation.  Here's the context: I have two SATA HD in my office.  I use one for the OS and the second as storage device.  Now that I'm done with a format and reinstall, I have Vista 64 back up and running and fully implemented to date.  Now that it is operational, I noticed that I can not access the 2nd HD (the storage disk).  The computer knows that it is attached and it can read technical information.  The BIOS sees the drive, device manager sees the drive, Disk Manager sees the drive, and I have a program 3rd party (Everest) that I use to monitor its use and the time he sees too much.  I can see the size of the disk, manufacturer, etc. but I can not access the information on the disk.

What can I do to remedy this situation?  He worked before (pre format) without problem, why it is not working now?  No physical connection have changed, so I don't see why it would be unavailable.

  • Cannot add the iSCSI storage unless it is formatted

    Hello

I have therefore 2 boxes of ESX 4.0 and I migrate all the machines to a new box of 5.5 ESXi.  Box 5.5 cannot see one of iSCSI targets that can the other 2.  The only way I can add by using the application client vSphere to add storage, where I can see it, but I'm not able to add without formatting.  Of course, this is not desirable.  Why this storage can be used without formatting?  All iSCSI targets are the same machine, they all were created the same way I can say, so why is it a unable to add without a format?

Well here is the solution to my problem:

I had to mount the storage using the CLI instead of the vSphere client.

  • What format should my files?

before that I am committed to the purchase of this product, if I want to take a pre-existing song and break up into individual instruments so I can manipulate them (as in a remix of an existing song to store some items, but change or add others), what format should my file?  is it important?  Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.

    richardk93343850 wrote:

I think I might have exaggerated what I really want to do. I want essentially to take existing songs and making them flow with the same beat that underlies each of them in a scope, a trail mix of several pieces. I know I should be able to adjust the tempo/BPM so that they are consistent, too, right?

So, if you think I'm capable of doing these two things with hearing, is there a certain file format that would be better than another?

Yes, you can do mixdowns which do quite easily - it is just a matter of butting places them on a track and adjusting how they go through. It is Visual and intuitive to do. And yes there are tools to change the speed of tracks, although it should be a little more careful with this, that the people are often very sensitive to changes in the titles they already know. The good news is that a lot of titles that are suitable for this kind of treatment are consistent in the choice of tempos, but with all these things, experiment a little will get you quite a long way.

As for the formula that you save the results in - it's actually not really a problem if you stick to the default values. The principle is quite simple; you mix the results down to the internal format of the hearing which is uncompressed wav files. Having done this, you can make a distribution of copy as an MP3 player if you want to. The reason to do it like that, is that whenever you create an MP3 file, you will lose information - in order to become an MP3 of an MP3 file is usually pretty bad news. And this also has implications for the way in which you build your tracks in the first place - try to not start with MP3s, but good CD imported directly or whatever. If you want to start with vinyl, then save as files wav, for exactly the same reason. Bottom line is that MP3 is a distribution format and not a production one!

  • How to add a second hard drive Ubuntu Server, that runs on vmware workstation 9

    Hello

I am running vmware workstation on windows 9 8, and I installed Ubuntu 12.10 as a virtual machine on my SSD. I installed a second hard drive in the machine and use the "Add a HDD" feature on vmware workstation to add and pre-allocate space. The problem is that the drive does not appear in Ubuntu. I have checked/Media and / dev, I expected to see something like /sda *. It is a procedural step, I missed it, please help!

Do I have to mount the drive in a special way? How can I check if it is properly attached?

    Thank you!

What you said so far, it's like adding a second physical drive to a physical computer and the operating system cannot access until it was partitioned and formatted, and then it can be mounted.  To do the same thing in a VM!
