  For some reason, I can't find an answer to this anywhere.  I know that you can add more storage to a computer by changing the internal hard drive, but I'm not good with electronics and will attempt rather than.  Is it possible to attach an external hard drive to my iMac (21.5-inch, late 2009, OSX 10.11.3) and have it work as if the computer itself has more storage?  I'm not interested to move the files to the external drive to clear up space already a resident, I want the storage that is already 'the annex'.

  I want to copy a folder to an external hard drive with the file already on it and not having to replace all the files each time. I just want to click and drag the folder to the external hard drive and have it add new files I've added in the folder on my pc over time on the external hard drive.   When a drive is not connected, you can still perform most of the functions in the library Module (such as research, discovered the thumbnail, add/edit metadata).

When I connect the drive via a usb cable, the disc sounds as if it's hunting and is never recognized by the laptop.  The external hard drive has its power supply on so I won't try to power it through the usb port. • Why LR4 shows me two folders to an external hard drive?

  So I don't know that I can explain so I tied this screenshot. LR4 shows two external hard drives 'ESF-PHOTO' when it's really only. It has the same folder on the two 20120523_straight_down called on each, but in each case there are 4 images even though it says 3. Two of these images are reversed, and I think that's why it says 3. I tried the update folder location. I tried to synchronize the folder. I tried to remove the top folder, called 20120523_straight_down, which then gets rid of the ESF-top PHOTO. After that I try to add the image missing fourth to the different 20120523_straight_down folder and it adds just this second ESF-mystery PHOTO by car.

  

  All this happened after I moved the catalog and images on this external hard drive and run Carbon Copy Cloner to support up to a second disc. Once this is done, I restarted LR4 and began working on an image in PS6. When I closed this image and returned to find the Edit version in LR4 I couldn't find it. Once I found it after searching all pictures with its file name that I saw that there were two ESF-PHOTO files.

  When I have tried all the above troubleshooting I unplugged the backup drive.

  It is a difficult question. Any one guide me through on this one can.

  I transferred my iTunes library on an external hard drive (Seagate).  I would like to transfer CDs to laptop so that I can do it again on one of my iPod tunes.  There is no option for ' send to ' iTunes from the external hard drive.  I tried several times and failed.  I can listen to the music stored on the external hard drive but playing something other than iTunes.  I installed Win 10 (big mistake, but too late now) so I guess it's to play through their music app.  I also tried to send to the device Bluetooth drive external hard, but that no longer works.

  An iTunes library is an index of media stored on your computer that has been added to the library. iTunes has to know where the files are located in order to transfer them to your device.   Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled)

  3 press and hold the option (or alt) key while launching Photos. In the menu that appears, select "Choose Library" and navigate to the new location. From there it will be the default location of your library.
