• Captivate 5 gel problem trying to add subtitles to the video

  Hi there-

  I try to add subtitles to a video (.f4v) I inserted as "Video Slide" on a slide in a presentation of Adobe® Captivate® 5.  I click on the video to select, go to the properties panel, select 'Edit video synchronization' and then click on the Panel of captioning to try to add captions and then Captivate completely freezes and crashes so not only can I not to add captions to video, but I have to use the Windows Task Manager close.

  I've seen this process shows a tutorial from Lynda.com, and the instructor doesn't seem to have this problem with Captivate 5.

  Any thoughts?  Other users have found a work around at all?  I mean, I know I could audio from the video, then attach it to the slide and make the captioning in this way, but it would be much easier (and much more logical) to add it directly to video, especially since that's what you are supposed to be able to do.

  I use Captivate 5 on Windows 7.  I also have Captivate 5 on a personal Macintosh and you have not yet tried to see if the problem occurs on this platform, as well.  Has anyone experience this problem?  Sorry for the length - this is my first forum of validation, so I'll try to provide as much information as possible.

  Welcome to Adobe Captivate Forums.

  You can try to add the subtitles to the video after the removal of the preferences.

  Follow these steps to remove preferences

  1. close Captivate so momentum already

  2. go to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Adobe

  3. find a folder named "Captivate 5.

  4 delete the folder

  5. now launch Captivate and try your workflow

  Let us know if this solved the problem.

  Turning on the closed captioning is the same for all types of live TV: in Media Center, go to tasks, settings, TV captioning and change the legend display option you like.

• First I cannot manually add subtitles/Screen Shots attached

  I imported a .mov project in Premiere Pro.

  The video is 29.97 FPS, 640 x 480.

  I can't manually add captions to my project.  In this photo attached to this post, you can see where there is no other choice.

  The only option I have is by clicking on the key tool and allowing captions, but nothing changes as soon as I did this.  Not that that is important.

  Can someone help me?  Legends of manuals are only enabled by certain presets and/or codec for a project?

  OK, so looking, it seems that you can not manually legends of component snap to Premiere Pro CS6.  This seems to be only an additional feature in first Pro CC.

  Can anyone confirm this?

  I have a question multiple choice quiz that plays a sound file when the user selects the correct answer. Because the audio file is defined using a ' success' action, it is not placed on the timeline. Is there a way to add captioning in audio file even when it does not exist in the timeline?

  

  Audio slide can easily turn into CC CC should be synchronized with the audio, and this is not possible in this case since you have no idea "when" the user will submit the answer. Way to go is to create a container of text (legend or form) with the text that you want to appear as CC) and use a tip (or shared if you're on CP7/8) who will play not only audio but also displays the text container.

  Use a word processor such as app Apple's Pages application.

  Of course, I guess that you are referring to the addition of subtitles to a document.

  If you want to say, for example, add subtitles to an application name, which cannot be done.

  Deakin Uni, we use EtherDVB (www.etherdvb.com) to take the public channels TNT and multicast them via the network.

  To view these on our DMP of 4305G Cisco, we essentially have a playlist with the URL in the form udp://multicastipaddress:1234

  This generally works well, and we have a minimum of audio/video synchronization problems.

  These waterways using something like VLC, we can get the subtitles that go with the channel, but seem not to be able to have to show by the DPM (our firmware varies between 2.x and 5.1 on the DPM).

  Our ultimate goal is to have access to the television channel shown on the DMP with subtitles for use in DMP facilities with significant background noise.

  My (limited) research shows what may be something to do with the SRT files - IE how subtitles are broadcast with the audio and video streams in the transmission of DTT.

  Does anyone have advice on how this can be done?

  Unfortuately, the DMP does not support flow incorporated for Closed Caption or subtitles

  in a stream of multicast at the moment.  If the CC or subtitles were part of mulitcast video

  flow then the DMP would be displayed to them.   A possible solution would be to

  Cisco SA encoders or other encoders where you can add subtitles or CC to video

  stream itself (using a text file or other formats) before transmitting on the DMP.

  I want to tell you that subtitling must be available for the video you're watching. You can follow the steps to add subtitles on the video app:

  a. open the video application
  b. right click on the video you want to play
  c. Select playback options.

  If closed captioning is not available, you will see is not available.

  Note: You will get the subtitles only if the video has it.

• Problem with subtitles

  I use 12 EP with Windows 8.1.

  Someone told me to deliver my movie with optional subtitles for the hearing of the visually impaired. I was told to choose between CAP, 890 respectively SMI. After that another person was told that Subtitle Workshop is freeware that can create subtitles that follow these technical standards. And Yes, I was able to create two files of .smi och.890.

  But there is a problem. I also want to import subtitles in EP 12 so I can create a version of my film with subtitles included. This would be suitable for community television. So I've discovered that 12 PE uses .prtl. Who cannot export the free software. In practice, I assume that it also works with the .psd files but the freeware cannot export that is.

  So what is the best solution?

  I have to add more than 100 kilobytes with subtitles, it would take probably more than 100 hours of extra work to write the same text a second time.

  I see no way that Premiere Elements only should be involved in what you want to do except if you create CTR titles text for her. Alternatively, you can export your Timeline first of elements to the file supported by a 3rd party closed captioning video editor creator.

  You can make the background with the recktangle tool in the title first in adobe designer.

  Make it black with an opacity of 30 or what you think is correct.

  The font is Arial. Size can be adjusted easily!
