Add vcenter chargeback

Hello

I want to add vcenter server to load in return, but it is stated that by default Databas URL: IP address\SQLEXP_VIM

and default database name is:VIM_VCDB

in the image attached: [email protected] is my user with access to vcenter.

I should place above (default DB) information for chargeback. but I have the problem. WHY?

Hello

I think that your question is similar to http://communities.vmware.com/message/2171090#2171090

Can you please check the suggestions available here?

Let me know if this does not help.

    Hello

I'm trying to adds a server vCenter ChargeBack.

I get the following error message:

The invalid vCenter Server database. The vCenter Server database must have the following views: VPXV_HIST_STAT_DAILY, VPXV_HIST_STAT_WEEKLY, VPXV_HIST_STAT_MONTHLY and VPXV_HIST_STAT_YEARLY

On this post, (https://communities.vmware.com/thread/236730) say that the sql account must be db_owner on the vCenter database, I have that and say that we create the views.

In SQL management Studio, I see these views, but exactly. I have the same names, but like this: VMW. VPXV_HIST_STAT_DAILY, VMW. VPXV_HIST_STAT_WEEKLY...

    Is this normal?

  • Add vCenter fails with CertificateChainValidator - vCO 6.0.3

I had a running off vCO 5.5 self-service portal using a bunch of users.  I deployed a 6.0.3 vCO device VM and imported the config.  I finished the configuration, and all radio buttons are green on the site Configuration port 8283.  When you try to add vCenter using the workflow 'Add an instance of vCenter server', it does not immediately in the workflow "Import a certificate" with "ReferenceError: 'CertificateChainValidator' is not defined."  I have imported the SSL certificate of the vCenter and the PSC under Network-> SSL Trust Manager.   All certificates are self-signed because MRS. 6.0 would not work with CA Cert on vCenter has signed at the time where we deployed SRM.  I have not touched the CERT on vCO 6.0.3... trying to take the path of least resistance to maintain vCenter and SRM running and get the vCO online.  I checked vCenter MOB and there are no extensions of vCO.  How can I get vCO 6.0.3 is registered correctly with vCenter?  My vCenter is a VCSA and 6.0 build 2656761.

VMware support was able to understand this.  For some reason, not all the workflow was available even though I deployed a new 6.0.3 camera and imported the config of my old 5.5 instance.  So we went into the Web of Orchestrator Configuration page-> troubleshooting and click 'Reset the current Version' for plug-ins.  Bounced, she and the missing workflow was there.  Back then in the Web Configuration Orchestrator page-> vSphere Configuration under general and enter IP address of our vCenter PSC and [email protected] used.  The appearance of the data worked, I checked most of the boxes and could see vCenter in vCO thereafter.

  • Add vCenter Server 5.5 to vCO 5.1

    Hi all

is maybe stupid question, possible to add vCenter server 5.5 to 5.1 vco.

I tried, but it threw me an error

Error: Cannot register or update the extension of vCenter Server - com.vmware.vim.vmomi.client.exception.SslException: com.vmware.vim.vmomi.core.exception.CertificateValidationException: server certificate chain not verified (I tried to Setup page)

If I tried to import the ssl certificate, it has been imported successfully, but are not not in the ssl Trust Manager.

    Thank you.

Sorry, my mistake - I have not paid attention to the versions. Generally, is not a supported configuration, and you will need 5.5 plugin to connect to 5.5 VC. As the error is in the code that uses the inventory Service and it is recommended to not use it, you can try to install Version technical overview of VMware vCenter Orchestrator plug-in for VMware vSphere 5.1.x and disable IS vmo.properties.

8281 is the correct port. Probably, you must use Basic authentication and insert the credentials of the user that you use to sign in to the vCO client.

  • What vCAC hook in vCenter Chargeback?

I know vCAC a showback simple feature built into the product.   However, it only calculates chargeback based on the resources allocated, not the use of resources.

VCAC integrate with vCenter Chargeback still?   It would be useful for vCAC to send its users/resource chargeback information and then run the reports of actual use.

Assuming that there are no integration yet, I guess I could have Chargeback work with my implementation of vCD.  VCD I could configure DCs Org that match vCAC users, and then run reports on these DCs Org to get valid Chargeback #s?

    Thank you

    -Matt

    Matt,

vCAC is currently not crochet in vCenter Chargeback.  It's something we are considering for a future release (TBD).

  • vCenter Chargeback Config Maximums

Nobody knows of any maximum configuration in vCenter Chargeback. Planning of a facility at the present time and need a hierarchy to support children of 400-500 and 3000 VMS records.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you

    Tom (DSG)

    Hello

Maximum number of CB 1.5/1.6 support for virtual machines by hierarchy is 1000. You create multiple hierarchies to more than 1,000 virtual machines by the hierarchy. We are working on improving that number in the next version.

    Kind regards

  • Map ID between vCloud Director and vCenter Chargeback by API

I currently have a configuration where vCenter Chargeback automatically imports the hierarchies of vCloud Director by a data collector. I find difficulty in mapping a vCloud Director ID entity in a vCenter Chargeback one.

    I'll give a practical example:

I vCloud Director organization ORGNAME and VM VMNAME.

I want to generate a chargeback for the entity VMNAME report. How do I tell me what ID of entity should I spend in the report query if the only information I have comes from the vCloud Director?

    Thank you in advance,

    Marco

    Hi Marco,.

To get the Id of the virtual machine in the entity report request, you have the following option: -.

    • Go step by step to VM, in this approach, you have to call according to API
    1. Get all the hierarchies, GET hierarchies--> this response API, get the id of the hierarchy based on the hierarchy name (name of the hierarchy will be same as the name of the Organization to vCloud Director)
    2. Hierarchy of browse, GET /hierarchy/ {hierarchyId} / browse--> this the API response, you get the id of the entity of the root of the hierarchy
    3. Entity to browse, GET /entity/ /hierarchy/ {hierarchyId} {entityId} / browse--> this response from the API, you will GET the ID of the entity for immediate children of the entity of the root of the hierarchy
    4. Go by calling the entity API browse recursively until you reach your desired VM (or entity).

Please note that travel entity API returns very few details about the entity (name and entity id). If you want to filter your VM (or other entity) based on the name, this might be enough for you.

But if you want to filter your VM (or other entity) on other criteria, you may need to call ' entity Get GET /entity/ /hierarchy/ {hierarchyId} {entityId} "API for more details on the entity.

If you to filter the VM (or other entity) based on the attribute custom, you can use the API ' get the attributes of an entity, GET /hierarchy/ {hierarchyId} /entity/ {entityId} / attribute.

    • If the size of your hierarchy is not great (you don't have too many entities in the hierarchy), you can follow the following approach: -.
    1. Get all the hierarchies, GET hierarchies--> this response API, get the id of the hierarchy based on the hierarchy name (name of the hierarchy will be same as the name of the Organization to vCloud Director)
    2. Get hierarchy, GET /hierarchy/ {hierarchyId}--> this response API returns you all entities in the hierarchy with a single blow. Once again very little detail of the entity is returned (name and entity id), if you want to refine your entity on other criteria rather than by name, then you need to use 'Get entity' or 'Get the attributes of the entity year' as explained above.

Please note that if Director vCloud in vCenter Chargeback hierarchies that are filled automatically, there is a named "vCloudEntityId" located on the rebilling of entities corresponding to entities vCloud Director of custom attributes. The value of the custom attribute "vCloudEntityId" represents the entity type id and the vCloud vCloud Director entity.

For example, if a TIME named "helloVapp" has id 123456 into vCloud Director. Then in vCenter chargeback the value of the custom attribute "vCloudEntityId" will be "VcloudVappEntity-123456"for this "helloVapp" TIME."

    I hope this helps.

  • Add vCenter Workflow error: unexpected status code: 404

    Hello

I am trying to add a vCenter vRO 7.0.1 host using the plugin existing VC (ver. 6.0.2.3435085) and I run a strange question.

If I choose NO for the option ' will you orchestrate this instance "then the workflow completes successfully.  This does allow me to run workflows against the vCenter.

When I remove the existing vCenter and re - run the workflow of vCenter Add, this time by choosing YES, the workflow fails with error validation process: unexpected status code: 404 (Workflow: Add a vCenter server instance / validate (item2) #1)

Any ideas why check YES causes this?

    My entries:

    Host: fqdn.servername.com

    Port: 9443

    Path: /sdk

    Ignore the Cert: Yes

    Thank you.

    Hello

This error probably means that the port number is incorrect.

Are you sure 9443 is the correct port number? Usually, the port number is 443, not 9443 (port 9443 is where vSphere Web Client is available). Could you re-run the workflow with port 443?

I recently downloaded the latest version of view 7, when I was configuring the servers, I couldn't add the vCenter, I have an error that says "possibly a server vcenter no valid certificate. • Cannot add vCenter, error 'server not verified certificates chain '.

    Hello

After the upgrade to VCO 5.5.1 I can't add a vCenter which was previously registered reports the following error:

    Error

Impossible to register or upgrade to vCenter server extension

com.vmware.vim.vmomi.client.exception.SslException: com.vmware.vim.vmomi.core.exception.CertificateValidationException: not verified server certificate chain

I re-imported the cert of the Victoria Cross, but still no luck. I also license server failed and had to add manually. There is no restriction of firewall in place, so I don't know what else could happen. Any ideas appreciated. Thank you.

We've been through this process with all 6 of our vCenters. It turns out that it was the only one with a problem. I suspect it's because the old length of cert has 512 MB, while the others, who were an installation vCenter fresh and not upgrades, created a cert 2K.

Remove and then reinstall vCenter 5.5 only fixed the problem.

  • Add vcenter - I see all esx hosts too?

    Hello!

I added our vcenter at VMAs, but when I do a 'vifp' mailing lists I see only the vcenter. Should I see all the ESX servers managed by the vcenter too or have to manually add all ESX host?

You must add'em manually, or search for scipt to do.

  • Can I download VMware vCenter Chargeback Manager logs to record an overview to analyze manually?

I want to analyze VMware CBM connects using loginsight. Should I implement a syslog server or manually download the insight journal server logs and if we can do what is the procedure for the same?

Log Insight can manage all messages sent via the syslog Protocol. Technically, this means that log Insight focuses on execution logs. That said, you could configure a syslog agent to monitor a directory or a file logs CRB and transmits to the Insight Journal for analysis.
