Adding 2nd NIC in Vsphere Client

Hello

I have 3 VMs at all using the same physical NETWORK adapter and to split these to the top. They are all using vmnic0, I can see under network adapters, he sees 2 physical NETWORK adapters, but vmnic1 says "down".

How can I activate and for example do one virtual machines use this physical NETWORK adapter?

Do I just go vSwitch0 properties and network adpaters tab and add the unused? then what?

Thank you

Hello

According to the guidelines of your entry, 'Said VMNIC1 down' - Please check if the network cable is connected to this network adapter. You can use this NETWORK adapter only if it is enabled.

As much as possible to use two cards available network by configuring the collection of NETWORK adapters. Your virtual machines will be able to communicate if or the other of the NIC fails.

Navigate vSwitch0 properties, network adapters available add-on (2 cards network will be well) together the NETWORK card must be under cards active and select Load Balance teaming.

VSphere will be dynamically allocate the bandwidth of the network for each virtual computer.

Kind regards

Balu

  • Adding 2nd NIC killed ESX Server

    All,

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Here are the environment and then my question.

    3 - DELL R510 - Dual Core Quad - Intel systems

The area has "2" Integrated NIC

as well as "2" QUAD Port - PCI Intel network interface cards

NIC 0 - integrated NETWORK card is a system where installed- and it is plugged into a standard Switch CISCO GIG, the tag VLAN 108

NIC 1 - integrated is configured for iSCSI connectivity

LOCATION 0 - Port Quad PCI NIC

Port # 3 is connected to a GROUP of CIRCUITS on a CISCO SWITCH with VLAN 108, 104, 107 and 110 on it

Port # 1 is used for the 2nd iSCSI connection

LOCATION 1 - Port Quad PCI NIC

    # 7 port is connected to a different GROUP of CIRCUITS on a CISCO SWITCH with VLAN 108, 104, 107 and 110 on it

All three servers are installed with ESX4 update 1

When I go into vCenter to one of the three servers and go to the primary Switch virtual networking, if I add #3 NIC or Port #7 NIC to the virtual switch (it currently integrated NIC 0 in) the system disconnects the network and to connect to vCenter losses and the entire network. If physically I reboot the ESX Server, it is NOT on the network. I have the tag VLAN in NIC0 defined 4095 to accept all the VLANS as well. (I tried with and without the tag of VLAN 4095 - same result)

    Here are my questions:

1 - Why is - what happens? How it should be configured?

    2. is there a way to get NIC0 to return to the network without having to re - install ESX?

I reinstalled the boxes several times now and tried many variations of combinations of nic, and they all end up with the ESX Server disconnected from the network and does not.

Really looking for some common sense here... Please and thank you.

Hmmmm, shooting a little in the dark, but I think your next 2 steps are:

    (1) get the SC (vswif0) MAC and check your MAC address table switch to fly throughout of ports

    (2) on the console, use esxcfg-vswitch for uplink associated with the Group of port SC the first list, and then delete the 2nd network card.  This should get your SC direct return and leave the new map available NETWORK the vswitch, simply not group ports SC.  (And you don't have to reinstall :-).)

  • logging of errors in vsphere client with the domain credentials

I need enable a domain user to be a power user on the host, but don't have access to other hosts managed by the vcenter, so I added their domain account to the permissions tab on the host as a power user.

I want him connect directly to the host by using the client Vsphere and Vcenter not connect at all.

However, when he tries to connect to the host using the host name, it gets the error:

"cannot complete the connection due to a bad user name or password"

I added myself to the host as a power user and I get the same error

I have added my name from AD domain host, added an entry in my DNS, more I added a domain suffix to the host.

    No change.

I can log in as root to the host through the vsphere client.

I had already joined the domain of the host and adding the user directly didn't work.

    Hello

I just downloaded new version of Kali Linux to do some tests with my free version of ESXi update 5.5 2, the problem is that I can't change the settings of the virtual machine in vSphere Client.

It's so good because of the independence of Web OS Client vSphere but what about the free version? Everyone knows you need a vCenter running successfully and a license for the vSphere Web Client.

There is no free version of VMWare vCenter.

  • questions of vSphere Client Web - (noob)

Hello! I'm not sure if this question goes here or not, if not could someone move it to the right forum? Thank you

IM pretty new to VMWare, but have a number of hosts running ESXi 4 and 5.0, each is a separate host managed by the vSphere client. We recently received a new server and installed ESXi5.5 to findout we vSphere Web Client to manage the virtual machines. My question is can I use a web client of vSphere to monitor multiple physical hosts?

Our facility is 4 physical hosts all versions the ESXi running, all independent - nothing fancy. We also have a San with two physical hosts in a cluster off site in another data center (a different IP address connected via WAN). This host is configured with the Id like to, at least temporarily, where I want to manage the new vSphere web ESXi5.5 Server client. Is this possible? I get errors when adding it.

    Thank you!

You can manage everything from a single Web Client vSphere since all hosts are added to vCenter and hosts are compatible with your server vCenter... you must ensure all the required ports are open through your WAN link. To configure a new Web Client vSphere you still need a compatible version of vCenter.

  • How to configure NTP between Virtual Machines without using Vsphere Client

I have a group of 8 virtual servers of 5.5 ESXi without an Internet connection. There are virtual machines on each of these 8 virtual servers.

I did one of these 5.5 virtual ESXi host a NTP server by editing the file /etc/ntp.conf with below configuration and

started the ntpd daemon. He began to take the time to its local clock, here's the output of ntpq Pei

    IP server 10.108.190.14

ip address of the client 10.108.190.15

    Server /etc/ntp.conf

    | ==============================================================
    | * LOCAL (0). LIUX. 10 l 2 64 377 0.000 0.000 0.001

Then I edited the file /etc/ntp.conf on customers with below configuration but the customer would not synchronize with the server. He

wouldn t get response from the server. Here is the output of ntpq Pei

    Customer /etc/ntp.conf

Now, when I configure NPT Client/Server on virtual machines through the Configuration Option under Option Configuration time

in Vsphere Client everything works fine and the client and the server to synchronize with each other. I checked the file /etc/ntp.conf on both the client

and the server and it has a couple of restrict 127.0.0.1 and restrict the lines added by default kod nomodify etc.

So why NPT Server featured when enabled via Vsphere Client works very well, but it does not work when it is configured manually

    in the virtual servers directly.

I was connected to a vCenter Server Appliance through the VSphere Client and enabled the synchronization of time of the NPT.

I really need to know how to configure the NTP server without using the Vsphere Client so that I can automate the

task by writing a python script that would connect to each virtual server and NTP Client/Server configuration.

Any help in this issue deeply appreciated!

    Thank you!

You can configure the ntp server without using viclient.

  • VSpher client connection?

    Hello

To make clear that I am a novice.

I installed, ESX5.1 (bare metal), [VCenter Server, VSphere Client and client VSphere Web]-> Windows 2008R2.

It is the second facility from scratch.

In my first attempt, when all them above were installed, when I tried to log in using VSphere client, I could use the AD ID and I think what he connecterd me to ESXi through VCenter.

In my second installation, I can connect via Vcenter using the Web client, using my username AD (ID of the administrator group). Everything works fine, I created data center and added ESXi.

However when I click on VSphere Client, it does not accept my AD account and it only accepts the ID of the root for ESXi

I don't know if this is what is supposed to happen?

    So the questions:

    1. in order to access ESXis using VSphere Client through VCentre, what should I do? I mentioned, that if I try to open a session using the client it does not accept AD ID

    2. How can I use webclient and no client (via VCenter)

< added some information: I renamed localhost in ESX01 ESX and he joined the field in the context of troubleshooting and client NTP is configured on ESXi, not Windows 2008R2, but Jet lag is less than 30 seconds if not less >

As I said I am new, however I am giving the foregoing experience of logical explanations.

    Thanks in advance.

    1. in order to access ESXis using VSphere Client through VCentre, what should I do? I mentioned, that if I try to open a session using the client it does not accept AD ID

    Hello

I hope someone can helpme or guide me on this one.

I already create two VMs on ESXi5 and their spouse on my domain, I can controlit from the console on esxi (via vsphere client)

but... If I try to connect directly to the vmachine of my office via vsphere client I had a conection error

I try with my domain user and the password

I try with the checkbox "use the same windows credentials" and still the same...

I thought maybe I give permmits to the vmachine directly from Esxi5, but I noticed that does not show in my area and I can't add my name of user or groups. I wonder if theres some how to join my esxi5 welcome to my domain and then can show my domain name such as an option to choose some users of group or individual userid

    (see attached)

Thank you and have a nice day of departure (sound almost 07:00)

You can join your ESXi your unter AD-> authentication services configuration.

But that can only be allows you to assign permissions to allow users to connect to your server ESXi with the vSphere Client and do things over there, like create virtual machines or use its console your AD.

To access the operating system inside the virtual machine remotely, use RDP, VNC, XDMCP, etc as a.p. said

  • PowerCLI equivalent to vSphere client "Detach" memory card?

I'm trying to find the PowerCLI equirvelent to disconnect an adapter of the ESX host storage device. Preferably using the LUN ID.

For reference, in the vSphere client GUI I have run the command by selecting a host configuration tab, then select adapters and storage in detail looking at the peripheral view, I can right click on a device and have the ability to "unpin".

I've been watching the cmdlets Get-ScsiLun and Set-ScsiLun.

I have also been watching the ScsiLunPath together and wonder if Active the parameter false, that's what I'm looking for?

I am also looking to hard drive Set and remove hard drive but these commands seem to be relevant to VM and hosts no.

Any help or hints would be appreciated.

This new feature in the vSphere client 5 is not taken in charge by a cmdlet PowerCLI AFAIK.

But you can get the same result by using the DetachScsiLun method.

2 following functions (I added a function to fix as well) will allow you to detach and attach the lun.

I chose to spend the LUN target via its canonicalname, but you can easily adapt the functiosn to use another LUN property.

    function Detach-Disk{
        param(
            [VMware.VimAutomation.ViCore.Impl.V1.Inventory.VMHostImpl]$VMHost,
            [string]$CanonicalName )

        $storSys = Get-View $VMHost.Extensiondata.ConfigManager.StorageSystem
        $lunUuid = (Get-ScsiLun -VmHost $VMHost | where {$_.CanonicalName -eq $CanonicalName}).ExtensionData.Uuid

        $storSys.DetachScsiLun($lunUuid)
    }

    function Attach-Disk{
        param(
            [VMware.VimAutomation.ViCore.Impl.V1.Inventory.VMHostImpl]$VMHost,
            [string]$CanonicalName )

        $storSys = Get-View $VMHost.Extensiondata.ConfigManager.StorageSystem
        $lunUuid = (Get-ScsiLun -VmHost $VMHost | where {$_.CanonicalName -eq $CanonicalName}).ExtensionData.Uuid

        $storSys.AttachScsiLun($lunUuid)
    }

You can call the function like this

    $esx = Get-VMHost MyEsx $name = "The-canonical-name-of-the-target-LUN"

    Detach-Disk -VMHost $esx -CanonicalName $name
