Adding a NETWORK card to an existing server of BB

I just added a 2nd NIC to my long-term BB Server (v4.6 on Win2008R2). I added a separate management and become LAN to my company and BB need to monitor the speed on that subnet. I stop, added the NETWORK card and reboot, BB server does not start - gives a license error - 2. When I turn off the new NIC, BB server starts. When I re-enable the NETWORK card it does not start. I can disable the NETWORK card, start server BB, and then re-enable the NETWORK card and BB works as I would like, but when the server restarts, BB will not work.

I've already messed with NIC link and changed the old NIC to get a higher priority than the new one, but BB continues to operate as stated above.

....

Do I really need a new license file when adding a NIC or there is something simple that I'm missing?

Jim Graczyk

PS - I know that this is probably a question for a DELL/quest/BigBrother assistance team, but I'm confused out of proportion about how we'd actually do that. I was lost when we just had to deal with the quest nonolithic support system. Now that DELL has added that it is much less clear. I posted something about licensing, but I think it was a mistake.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jim

Hi Jim,.

Send your linfo output to support of BB. Cut it a new license for you.

Kind regards

My Pavilion 6650z only has an integrated ethernet card that seems to have problems. I lose network connection every two days or more and when that happens the performance of open applications become sluggish. When I try to restart Windows or restart the PC, the process takes if for a long time I've just been turned off. Lost connections took place over time by using two routers different and many cables. Problem continues with the new gateway Xfinity Technicolor TC8305C that Comcast just sent me. Supported, it had no value. Unless someone can suggest other possible solutions, I intend to buy a separate Ethernet interface card. In this case, should what features I use?

Downloaded the latest driver, but that didn't fix the problem. I have instaled since a network card and - fingers-crossed, after that more than a week of no drop-outs, it seems that solved the problem.

  • Can I group more than 2 network cards on a single server with Windows 2008?

  • Configure the 2 network cards in a VM for MPLS LAN and the other for internet

    Dear all,

I have a HP Server with 2 NIC cards. ESXI 4.0 is installed and 3 VM was created in it. Initially that a NIC card was connected to the path of the LAN MPLS switch and another card NETWORK was not connected to the internet switch port.

Each VM only had a single NIC in it. So I assigned MPLS IP LAN to ESXI host and VM 3 and everything worked perfectly.

Now, I wanted to have the internet connection for my 3 VM. So I plugged the 2nd NETWORK card with internet port and added the second NETWORK card to the ESXi using the Vsphere client - & gt; configuration - & gt; Networking option. Now the two nic cards are ponting to the network of the virtual computer.

I've added 2 network card to all 3 VM and assigned to the internet IP addresses to all of these NICs. order of MPLS and internet work at the same time, I removed the card NIC MPLS entry door and manually routed through route add command. After this MPLS and internet worked well in 1 VM.

I tried the same thing in 2nd and 3rd VM but it failed. whenever I have add 2nd network card in the virtual machine, the first of this virtual machine network adapter does not work.

I'm after the right approach? Help, please...

    Kind regards

If I understand correctly your installation, you connected the physical NIC to two different IP networks.  Then you connected these cards in the same switch-v on the server.

This essentially fills two different networks at the layer level 2 layer 3.

You want rather than the two networks remain separated inside the host.

    • create a new v-switch on the host

    • move the internet NIC v-switch

    • Move the second NIC on each virtual machine to this switch

    • Make sure that access to internet VM NIC is one with a default gateway on a virtual machine OS

    • remove the default gateway of the NIC MPLS

    • creating persistent static routes to the NIC MPLS for any affected networks it beyond the same subnet as the NIC itself.  Addresses on the same subnet will be automatically accessible. Just roads for those outside this range.

  • Laboratory of network of production using rdp Server 2 NICs (1 connected to prod vswitch and 1 single vswitch)

    Hi all

I have a copy of my DC prod and a few servers on the host esx5 I created a single vswitch (no assigned network card). Besides all the vms on the isolated vswitch laboratory has no (empty) assigned default gateway ip address. Security measure. Let me explain briefly... everything is good so far... .but to access virtual machines on isolated vswitch, I need to connect to vcenter console to virtual machines. It's ok but very slow heavy and slow ...

I thought to create that a virtual machine allows to call him my rdp Server I'll rdp on prod, then this machine virtual, I'll rdp on vms on isolated network lab. configuration of the server rdp as follows.

I assigned 2 network cards to the rdp Server (to connect to prod vswitch network and another vswitch isolated), now my question is this secure?  which means in any way I want my isolated vms on vswitch lab test connect to servers of prod, this woulkd be a nightmere. As I am unable to ping test prod servers from computers virtual lab, and I wasn't expecting to. remember as a precautionary measure, I do not use a gatewate desktop virtual lab and I can only ping the server rdp... .so far so good

Please let me know thoughts or maybe someone has put in place in the past...

    Thank you

Yes it's course - internal traffic only network is isolated from the network of productin you - that traffic will come out is if place a router between the two networks

  • How to get 2 virtual NIC works when there is only 1 physical NETWORK card?

    Hello

    Running VM Fusion 2.0

I want to create a Virtualversion of Ubuntu that will have 2 virtual network cards which is both connected to my NIC physical 1

I added the network cards successfully, but when I run ifconfig eth0 only arises

I edited the vmx file by adding the lines below, but without success

    ethernet1. ConnectionType = "custom" ethernet1.vnet = 'vmnet2'

Someone knows how to do this?

    See you soon

    Tom

I guess that you configure additional virtual networks in Fusion by using something like: Advanced Networking Configuration - Tokamak Networking Scripts for VMware Fusion , since vmnet2 does not come configured out of the box with the merger and there is no way in the GUI to do.

I interpret what you're trying to do like the creation of two virtual network cards in a time filled with the same physical NETWORK card in the Mac VM. Can you explain what you are trying to accomplish by doing that? This configuration can cause two interfaces with an IP address on the same subnet, including many UNIX-like (and Windows) nuclei do not take very kindly.

You may also check the Ubuntu network configuration (to ensure that the new NETWORK adapter is enabled and configured).

  • Adding a second NETWORK card on the server HP Proliant ML 350 G5

I have a new HP Proliant with a guest of Windows 2008.  HP came with two network cards on the MB.  I need double-home this box on both networks, at least for a while, and this server will be the only road between subnets.  It's just a stand-alone installation inset.

I looked in the settings of the BIOS on the HP and it's a little confusing, but I'm sure that the second network card is active (it lights up when it is plugged).  When I try to add a NETWORK adapter to the configuration of the host, it is as if the second NETWORK card is not present.

My question is what is the best way to add this second NETWORK adapter and how do I do that?

I'll need access to the host of the VI Client on both networks - at least for a while.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to configuration-card network in the vSphere client is the 2nd NETWORK card that there are listed?  If ESXi is able to recognize the NETWORK adapter (or other people that you add) they should appear in this list without any config changes and be ready for use.

What kind of networks are you fill?   If one is considered not secure you could be better not add a management on this network port and prefer to have access via a VPN VM or a secure hosted VM / dual.

  • Can the server PowerEdge T110 II add a network card?

    Hello

I need an additional NETWORK card for my T110II but it does not detect a TP-LINK TG-3468 PCI-express card.

Start the server, but I do not see the screen of boot rom (bios Integrated NIC) and Windows do not detect the new device.
The T110II do not recognize a card RAID SATA AS-Rock with boot rom too.

I think that the problem comes from the boot of these PCI-e cards rom. Is there a solution to detect these cards?
Or you know a network card compatible cheap gigabit?

I already asked my country DELL support, and I have no answer.

    Thank you

Sorry for the questions in the NETWORK card getting to work.  The system will certainly take additional network cards, the T110 II 4 PCIe slots:

    Two x 8 slots (one with x 16 connectors)

    One x 4 slot (with x 8 connector)

    A x 1 slot

The integrated port is the Broadcom® BCM5722 gigabit Ethernet card.  When it comes with Dell servers and 3rd-party cards, questions may arise if you have a network adapter that is certified to work with the device.  Dell cannot support the cards that are valid and tested within the server.

A very common that we see added to the system is the Broadcom 5709, NIC PCIE4 Dragonfly.  The card is popular because it can be associated with the on-board.

About your SATA RAID card, questions are the same it regarding uncertified maps.

Lastely, I would make sure you have cards in cracks, here is the link to the manual, System 68 page has details about the locations specific PCIe priority and system information

  • Network card works no-Windows home server on VMWare server 2.0.1

I installed Windows Home Server on VMWare server 2.0.1 and the card in Device Manager Ethernet OS says "this device cannot start (code 10)". Device Manager shows AMD PCNET Family PCI Ethernet Adapter and the current drivers are also installed. I installed the Home Server by selecting other 32 bit OS in the virtual machine. Also, I removed the network card and reinstalled the adapter in the control panel of VMWare. It shows connected and I fixed it to connect at power on, it is also a bridge connection. I don't know what to do or check. I thought to reinstall the operating system by choosing server 2003 32-bit for Windows Home server is based on this. It's probably something simple. Anyone have any ideas?

Close the comments.  Edit the vmx by hand file and change the line ethernet0.virtualDev = "vlance" to "e1000" (add the line if it does not exist).  Back-light the prompt and install the driver for Intel E1000 network map.

  • Tecra A10 - 12O: installing the driver network card in Windows Server 2003 R2 Std

    Hello

I received 6 laptop Tecra A10 - 12O, and we need to install Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition with SP2 in all these six machines. Windows Server 2003 has been installed perfectly, but now we have only the network LAN card to work but we are unable to install its driver. When I installed Windows XP from the supplied DVD for Toshiba, it says Intel 82567V Gigabit network adapter. I tried to download the drivers for this adatpor of drivers Toshiba, Intel Web site, but it will not install in Windows Server 2003. I also tried manually force to choose and install a driver from the list, I choose that it will install but shows yellow question mark in Device Manager means that it does not work with this driver.

I also tried the same Intel 82567V drivers from some sites non-Toshiba, of these models using the same network card, but is not truck drivers at all.

I understand these laptop computers does not support Windows Server 2003, but these were ordered to be used as servers with Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and I am required to make the Installer only with activated and installed network adapter.

I try last week and exhausted all means to get the installed network adapter driver, but all have failed. Can someone please help with this? All support will be highly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy

If I m not wrong Windows Server 2003 uses the same drivers as Win XP and I guess that it s driver problem not a LAN, but perhaps also the problem of Windows Server 2003 installed.

You are right; the LAN chip seems to be Intel 82567V and the LAN driver downloaded from Intel page should work 100%.

In your case, I would recommend installing the chipset driver.
Remove the LAN card from Device Manager, then restart the laptop.
Then go back to Device Manager and update driver in pointing devices Manager to the place where the driver downloaded LAN was stored on the HARD drive.

  • need for server 2008r2 Pavilion p7-1000 network card driver of (tried win7 drivers N.G.)?

    Hello

I'm trying to install the server 2008r2 on the HP Pavilion p7-1000, has four cores amd 64 bit cpu, 8 GB ram, 1 TB hard drive.   For some reason I can't seem to locate the drivers for the NIC realtek.  Of course, I'm pressed and trying to accomplish something in a single day.  And many other things at the same time.  I never thought that this Server 2008 would have a problem with a common network card.

Someone has a direct link to a kind of driver that works with this?  I tried to go to the realtek, and perhaps I simply downloaded the wrong software.  But what I 'As' on their part, did not work.  I tried a "auto-install" program, but also what I THOUGHT it was the real Server 2008 drivers for the network card.

    Thanks for advice and guidance

    Hello:

Have you tried this one directly from Realtek site?  a 3rd on the list... According to this record in the series, they have 8105E card.

  • Adding a new NETWORK adapter to the ESX Server

I have an ESX 3.5 server that has two NIC onboard.  I decided that I will join the ESX Server to the SAN, so I need these two NICS for iSCSI.  I'm going to install a NETWORK card in the PCI - X slot.  Unfortunately, without GUI, I'm confused as to how it will work.  Can someone give me some advice on how to add a new NETWORK card?  I checked esxcfg and I don't know if that's what I'm trying to use.  Any help would greatly be appreciated.

In the VI client, you should be able to go on the tab network management under configuration see the NIC it to add them to the correct vSwitch.

  • "Your computer could not renew its address from the network (from the DHCP server) for the network card"?

I saw this question posted several times here, but I can't find someone who has exactly the same problem I have.

This problem started a week ago. Basically, my computer loses its connection ethernet once per hour to around the same exact time. which is only for about 5 seconds, but it's enough to get Skype and other things while I'm working, and it's very frustrating because I use Skype to talk with customers, and it looks unprofessional when my calls fall every single time. my computer can also use wireless (which does not go down), but he's too unstable for my work.

now on the error message I posted. I get this error in my observer of events in about 30 minutes until my ethernet goes down, so I don't know if they are interlaced or not, because I don't get any errors when my ethernet really crashes.

Here's what I've tried so far without success:

-temporarily disable the firewall and antivirus

-updated driver for both my wired network cards and wireless (both were UTD)

I don't know what to do because I've never had this problem before.

Here is some information on my computer if that helps all:

    OS: windows 7 Home premium (x 64-bit)

    computer model: gateway DX4870

Look on the side of the router and make sure that the DHCP lease time has not set to 60 minutes.  As a simple solution you can just assign a reserved DHCP or a static address to the computer (in the router).

PS: You'll find the DHCP lease on the map with the command ipconfig/all command at a command prompt

  • CMS OVA, adding the second NETWORK card breaks the first NETWORK card

I'm testing CMS 2.0 and when I try to add a second NETWORK card in VMware, he immediately interrupts the first network card.  As soon as the loading of the image, the first NIC fails.  Even if I disable iface b, it will allow all traffic where iface one.  If I stop the application, remove the NETWORK adapter and run it back again, it works very well to the iface one.

I want to test the public face with box feature, but I can't if I can't add a second network card.

How do you add the second network interface and interface you add?

You should add 'VMXNET3' type if you use VMWare, if you chose something else, you invalidate your license, see section 3.3 of the virtualized CMS 2.0 Setup Guide for deployments.

If you need assistance, you must move this thread to the section of telepresence of forums, where this device is actively discussed.  You can change your question and change the categories at the bottom of the page.
