Configure the 2 network cards in a VM for MPLS LAN and the other for internet

Dear all,

I have a HP Server with 2 NIC cards. ESXI 4.0 is installed and 3 VM was created in it. Initially that a NIC card was connected to the path of the LAN MPLS switch and another card NETWORK was not connected to the internet switch port.

Each VM only had a single NIC in it. So I assigned MPLS IP LAN to ESXI host and VM 3 and everything worked perfectly.

Now, I wanted to have the internet connection for my 3 VM. So I plugged the 2nd NETWORK card with internet port and added the second NETWORK card to the ESXi using the Vsphere client - & gt; configuration - & gt; Networking option. Now the two nic cards are ponting to the network of the virtual computer.

I've added 2 network card to all 3 VM and assigned to the internet IP addresses to all of these NICs. order of MPLS and internet work at the same time, I removed the card NIC MPLS entry door and manually routed through route add command. After this MPLS and internet worked well in 1 VM.

I tried the same thing in 2nd and 3rd VM but it failed. whenever I have add 2nd network card in the virtual machine, the first of this virtual machine network adapter does not work.

I'm after the right approach? Help, please...

Kind regards

Ashok doriane

If I understand correctly your installation, you connected the physical NIC to two different IP networks.  Then you connected these cards in the same switch-v on the server.

This essentially fills two different networks at the layer level 2 layer 3.

You want rather than the two networks remain separated inside the host.

  • create a new v-switch on the host

  • move the internet NIC v-switch

  • Move the second NIC on each virtual machine to this switch

  • Make sure that access to internet VM NIC is one with a default gateway on a virtual machine OS

  • remove the default gateway of the NIC MPLS

  • creating persistent static routes to the NIC MPLS for any affected networks it beyond the same subnet as the NIC itself.  Addresses on the same subnet will be automatically accessible. Just roads for those outside this range.

  • An iSCSI hardware network card can be used for ordinary IP traffic?

If I have a hardware iSCSI HBA card, it's a NIC where ESX could unload all iSCSI handling to, this card could be used for something other than iSCSI or it will only be dedicated to iSCSI traffic?

In other words, for example, could vMotion or VM traffic more than NIC go too? (It obviously wouldn't be a good thing to do, but I'm curious to know if it is possible).

If you mean an HBA full offload iSCSI, then the answer is no. The HBA actually operates all the management of the TCP/IP Protocol and presents the iSCSI LUNS to the host as direct-attached storage. If you go to the QLogic website, you can find a few whitepapers that explain unloading as well as certain patterns showing the CPU load with a THAT HBA full offload compared with active TOE NIC (such as HP/Broadcom).

  • Extend my extreme network with another extreme - waiting for internet access

Hello - I have a new generation Airport Extreme (let's call it Extreme1) connected to a Comcast modem and it works very well. The extreme will be the router that the modem has no router function. I'm trying to expand my network to another room with another extreme (let's call it Extreme2). I have a connection cable between two rooms. Extreme1 has an ethernet cable from one of its LAN ports connected on port WAN Extreme2. When I try to create a new network with Extreme2 (in aid of the same name, passwords, etc.) it does not work. He was suspended at the end when he is looking for a connection ("Waiting for internet access")-I did the following things based on what I read here:

    1. Changed IPv6 link local parameters
    2. Tried the whole upward on my Macbook and tried on my iphone
    3. The Wan first and then tried to change the configuration after you done for Extreme2 by creating a network
    4. Tried to create a network with Extreme2 connected directly to the modem
    5. Extreme2 factory reset after every attepmt

And nothing works. Kicker is, I also have a reasonably new airport express and the same thing happens to her as well.

Do I need to adjust some parameters of network that I'm not aware of? Is it possible that my LAN ports are disabled on Extreme2? It is brand new.

    Thanks for any help.

Have you used the Apple Setup Assistant?  If you did, it had notified you that the extreme second was being configured "add using Ethernet. The wizard will automatically configure the second airport with the appropriate settings for you.  All you have to do is enter a name of device for the second AirPort Extreme.

Here I'm assuming that you reset the second extreme to parameters by default until you set it up again and that your second Extreme is the current version of the "tower" or that of previous versions "flat or square.

The example below shows an AirPort Express as the device which is the extension of the network, but you will see the name of your network and AirPort Extreme on your configuration screen.

Post back if you need some tips on using the "Wizard" for your configuration.

  • Grouping of NETWORK cards causing the ESXi to retransmit ethernet frames received.

I had an HP Proliant DL380 G5 ESXi 5.1.0 connected to a Cisco 3750 Switch stack.

All by performing a tcpdump on a host without a report, I discovered that he was under the bombardment with ethernet frames for the MAC address of a computer virtual located on a host across the data center. After a few brief troubleshooting, I discovered that I was able to stop those erroneous frames by disabling NETWORK adapters on my VMWare host group.

I believe that in my situation when ESXi is configured to use two network cards to all frames received on vmnic0 and retransmits them on vmnic1 and vice-vesa. I experienced these symptoms when ESXi is configured for failover with an active adapter and adapter mode standby and I also experienced the same symptoms in the following load balancing configuration.

Symptoms: some time after activating the load balancing, all frames Ethernet for the MAC address of a virtual computer on the affected host are broadcast on each switch port in the entire data center.

    Steps to reproduce:
    (1) implementation below configuration.
    (2) unplug the ethernet cable connecting vmnic1 and switch1 port gi2/0/4
    (3) run the host 1.1.1.1 EI - n - q tcpdump on any machine physics linux in the data center (don't even have to be connected directly to 1).
Confirm there is no packet seen with the IP address of 1.1.1.1 destination
    (4) plug the cable between vmnic1 and switch1 gi2/0/4 port ethernet
    (5) wait 60 to 120 seconds
    (6) watch a burst of frames ethernet with the destination MAC address of the VM (which owns 1.1.1.1) in the output of tcpdump

    Cisco Configuration:

    hostname switch1

I apologize for the delay in my response.

Unplug physically 2 cable NETWORK card on the host and configuration mirrored port on the switchport to 1 NETWORK adapter of the host, I have been able to confirm that the host VMWare issues guides on NIC1 with a destination MAC address of one of its own VM.

After carefully reviewing the captured data, I noticed that the destination frames wrong "02:bf:cb:50:a2:76" MAC address actually belonged to "Local Area Connection 1' one of my Windows 2003 Server WHAT VM installed on the suspected host.

Dig a little deeper, I discovered that this virtual NETWORK card is presented to the operating system as
    Name: Local 1 network connection
"Type: VMware Accelerated AMD PCNet adapt."
    MAC: 02-BF-CB-50-A2-76

But the configuration of the virtual machine in vCentre is
    Name: Network adapter 1
    Type: Flexible
    MAC: 00: 0C: 29:fa:e8:83

    Note the different MAC addresses.

Digging a little further I discovered that Windows 2003 server has configured on "Local 1 network connection" network load balancing and NLB is the cause of the altered MAC address.

Rather than to investigate further I have just placed a load balancer linux before the server windows 2003 cluster and that you turn off NLB.

But I suspect that there is still a fundamental problem in the Virtual Switch VMware with how he learns the MAC addresses of the virtual machine is using flexible vNIC. In particular, with a virtual machine that uses a form to override the MAC address such as that used by NLB.

    Hello

I think that it shouldn't be a problem to upgrade the WLan card.
As far as I know its a card wireless network of miiPCI and you would need to also use a WLan card which would support the miniPCI interface.

The wireless network card supports two pins for the WLan antenna cable.
Usually, you must connect a white cable to the HAND and a black to the auxiliary voltage

    CPU = Intel (R) CPU Xeon X 3430 @ 2.40 GHz

    Memory = 16GB

    NIC = Intel 82574 L Gigabit Network connection-2 no

  • WLAN, lan, dmz on esxi with 2 network cards

    Hello

I'm newbie esxi. What I'm trying to achieve on my esxi server is simple firewall/gw between internet (vmnic1), LAN (vmnix0) and DMZ. I have only physical 2 NICs in my server, DMZ should be "completely collapsed DMZ. I intend to have 1 web server (www, ftp) in the DMZ, 2 LAN and smoothwall acting as firewall servers.

After reading some pdf files and some forum discussions I've come with an attached 'Networking' design.

Could you experts please check design and advise me how secure is it and where are the potential pitfalls?

COS you need to manage your esxi server.

    The following work of wll:

An Esx3i server with two physical network (Teddy) interfaces

    pNic0 connected to the internet

pNic1 connected to your local network

3 vSwitches configured, one for each natachasery and one internal vSwitch (DMZ)

Comments "Smoothwall" configured with 3 network cards, one for Internet, a local network, and a DMZ.

Guests in the DMZ must be created with vNic on the DMZ vSwitch.

SmoothWall manages the firewall and passes the correct port_number, etc. to the ip address in the DMZ.

  • HP 2000 Vision: D1E80UA #ABA: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit drivers for network cards

Upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a laptop HP 2000 Vision. Lost Wi - Fi connectivity. No recognized network card. Go: Device Manager: NO network card. No drivers for: Ethernet controller; Network controller; PCI device; SM Bus controller. Downloaded HP all software and drivers for: network drivers. Downloaded: Drivers for Ralink (HP) network on their Web site. The same problem. Need help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Karl.

    You are the very welcome.

You need these drivers for the remaining devices...

    Ethernet controller:

This package contains the Realtek driver local area network (LAN) that allows the NIC (NIC) Realtek chip in the notebook models that are running an operating system supported.

    File name: sp56680.exe

    PCI device:

This package contains the driver that allows the Realtek card reader in laptop models running a supported operating system. The card reader allows users to read or write to removable storage cards supported, which are typically used in digital cameras, digital music players and cell phones.

    File name: sp64801.exe

Don't forget to install the graphics driver.  That rarely comes as a missing device, but if you see a standard vga adapter that is listed under the category of display device manager cards, this means that you need to install the graphics driver.

This package provides the AMD graphics driver high definition (HD) and Catalyst Control Center for models of laptop computers that are running an operating system supported. For laptops equipped with switchable graphics modes, this package contains the drivers for the two graphics (GPU). Switchable graphics allow users to switch between a graphical power mode (normally used under the power of the battery) and a mode of graphics performance. If the video output high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

    File name: sp58617.exe

I have a 3 year old desktop computer (Compaq Presario SR5548F) and a few days ago I downgraded my Vista to XP (raw just XP programs) and now I have no internet connection (internet works fine on another desktop computer) there due to lack of driver because I don't see any network adapter on my device manager. I went looking for a driver but I couldn't install them because I need other drivers/hardware or programs. Microsoft technical support (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315275) it says to go to the hardware compatibility list, but when I click it, it took back me to the Windows 7 Compatibility Center, so I could not find a driver. Is there a driver that works without the need of a driver or hardware?

    Hi ThousandsBlades,

-What is the brand and model of network card you use?

Here is a link for the Windows XP hardware compatibility list.

I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of your network adapter to see if there is a driver that is compatible with Windows XP for your network card.

    Hello

I'm trying to install the server 2008r2 on the HP Pavilion p7-1000, has four cores amd 64 bit cpu, 8 GB ram, 1 TB hard drive.   For some reason I can't seem to locate the drivers for the NIC realtek.  Of course, I'm pressed and trying to accomplish something in a single day.  And many other things at the same time.  I never thought that this Server 2008 would have a problem with a common network card.

    I put t even know that :(

    Help me

    Hello

The Satellite L300D-10U belongs to the series of PSLC0E and it supports the Realtek LAN card.
LAN driver can be found on the page of Realtek.

You ask how to disable the modem? I think you mean how to reset modem DSL
Well, usually your modem should support an ON / OFF button simply turn it off and then turn it back on.

If you are unable to access the internet then you should first check if your modem is properly configured and that the right data ISP (internet service provider) was used.

Sorry, but that's all I can say right now I think you should just check your modem settings, make sure that the NIC is properly recognized and connect the model of the laptop using a LAN cable.
