Adding a new dvd/CD-RW drive does not work on my PC 4600
Hi, my laptop comes with a standard cd-rom drive and I bought a dvd/CD-RW drive to replace. When I enter it it appears power because I can open the drawer and the light comes on when I turn on the computer. However it is not coming in my computer.
I tried several disks so that the player I use is not defective.
can someone please help me with what I need the dvd function on my laptop for my work.
Thank you very much
Tommy
Hello
New device is recognized by the OS? Can you use it at all? Is there an error message or is defrost just marked in Device Manager?

Hello: the dvd/CD-RW drive does not work. apparently it has been disabled somehow! Any ideas on how I can turn it back on?
Have you tried the Device Manager and it says it works normally!
Any ideas please?
Thanks :)
> apparently it has been disabled somehow
I put t think that the disc has been disabled! How someone or something should turn off the drive? You have disabled the drive? I don't think so!
You said that the drive appears in Device Manager. So I guess that the drive is enabled and is recognized by the OS.
You are getting error messages or what's wrong?Perhaps the reader can read or burn CDs or DVDs.
This happens if the lens of the drive cannot calibrate properly and can not handle the inserted media.Maybe the replacement drive is required!

DVD/CD RW drive does not work after update from Vista Premium for Vista Ultimate
I have a gateway notbook, series P-7805u - 8400. DVD/CD RW drive was working fine until I upgraded to Vista Ultimate. Now, I can't even restore to a point before the update, nor that I can run my recovery disks. I have to correct this problem. I hate not having a phone number where I can at least speak to a technician or a place where I can scream my lungs. I need help, real help.
Something is terribly wrong when you spend too much for a product that doesn't work not as advertised and then you can't get the help you need when you need it. No wonder they want to keep things civil here...

DVD/CD-RW drive does not-Tecra A4
Hi, I have a problem with my Tecra A4.
My DVD CD - RW drive does not work properly (power is there, but it does not appear on the system), I have temporary installed a drive of DVD - RW from my HP laptop which works very well.
I tried to run my restore disk (never used), but nothing happens (press and hold C to start). This will only work with the good drive installed or I do something wrong?p.s. I bought this second hand, but it's new. He had a damaged screen I have replaced
Julian
If the old drive will not read media if it s damage.
You know that not every disc is compatible with the device because of the csel/slave/master settings. You said that the button C doesn't allow you to boot from the disc.
In this case, I would recommend to get into the BIOS, and there you can change the boot order.
However, this trick is everything works only if the new drive is compatible and supported -
My DVD/CD drive does not work in Windows 8 Professional with or without data or audio in it. However, if I turn off the PC with a bootable CD/DVD in there, the PC recognize the media and initiate the CD when turned on. This confirms that the DVD/CD drive actually works, but for some stupid reason, Microsoft Windows 8 Professional will not recognize the same DVD/CD player it loaded since! Thanks again Microsoft for another product of shit. Now, how are you going to fix this? And how are we supposed to run things such as WordPad or paint, etc. I predict that Windows 8 will fall faster than Windows Me!

External Combo CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive does not work with USB 1.1
Hello world
I have a problem with the PA3352E - 2 CD 2 CD-RW/DVD COMBO USB 2.0. A colleague is owner of this car and use it on a NB DellC610 with Windows XP on it. The problem is that the drive does not work with this type of nb (with a NB from Fujitsu-Siemens newest there no problems); There is always an error message about "surge." I think it has to do with the USB 1.1 because the player seems to be built for USB2.0. Is it possible to use this drive correctly with usb1.1 (ok, the flow is low, but more important is it works in general)? Unfortunately his nb will not work with USB 2.0...
Thank you very much in advance.
Kind regards
Steffen RiegerHello
AFAIK this external must have a power adapter. You use it too? I'm not 100% sure, but there are difference how much power Gets the USB slot. Toshiba notebooks is around 500 my and some producers another laptops send between 300 and 500 my. The external device requires approximately 700 my.

F:\ is not accessible.
The request could not be performed because of an i/o error.I talked to my local computer Wizz and does everything that he suggested to the letter and still the same problem. He suggested updating the bios drivers and the only way to do that is on a disk drive that she cannot take the an or a CD or dvd drive is not working. Can you please help me!
Begging you a lot
Michael BorgerIn my view BIOS update will not change.
I assume that the reader has worked in the past with the same BIOS version
It is a drive hardware problem or some registry keys are corrupt.I think that it s a hardware malfunction may be a matter of lenses.
But try this;
Remove the drive from Device Manager and shut the laptop computer. After restarting again the operating system should recognize the drive again. Then you can check the functionality.Otherwise, you can remove the disk from the laptop, and then start the laptop without the drive. Then stop the laptop, put the drive in the notebook and start over.
The firmware should again loads. But if these procedures help t, I don t see it differently as for replace the drive

CD/DVD drive does not work on my Satellite L300D
Hi all
* I have Toshiba Satellite L300D laptop and my OS is Windows Vista.*
I don't have any driver cd... when buying. They ask me to download from internet if any necessary driver software.
Now if I put a cd/dvd is not readable. The option of cd/dvd drive is invisible in the my computer window.
I renewed my anti virus and checked the laptop. There a few virus and I deleted all the viruses.
But still my drive does not work. What should I do? Also, my warranty period expires last month. I'm not having any recovery cd also.
Please give me the solution.Hello
Please check if the CD/DVD drive is listed in Device Manager.
If it s listed, then it means that ODD has been recognized by the Windows operating system.In this case, try this;
-Remove the STRANGE to the list of devices.
-remove the filters above and below of this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
-Reboot the laptopUsually, this helps.
