Adding another target iscsi

Hello

One of our hosts running 3.01, currently on an iSCSi SAN Netapp. We have deployed just a Compellent SAN, how do I add a new ISCSi target? In the dynamic discovery tab of the initiator, I added the server (and port 3260), but also add known as iqn on the general tab? The reason why I ask this before I try it is I don't ' want to lose the connection in progress, and I'm afraid to hit set up under the general tab and entering the new iqn name could remove it.

Thanks in advance,

After the target storage has been added via Discovery dynamic all LUNS presented to the esx host must be visible in the sight of devices for the software iscsi adapter. He will go through the process of a new analysis of the storage adapter to recognize the new storage and should not cause problems with the currently connected storage.

    Initially, I had only a single device defined within the iqn.2012 - 10 .cpd .net: san.target01 and I was able to create a data store on the ESXi hosts that I have running in my lab. I then added a second disk (LUN 1 above), but I still show that the possibility of having the original data store. When I look at the "storage adapters" on another host, details the software iSCSI card show 1 target connected, 2 devices and 2-way. If I should not be able to mount MON 1 as a second data within the host store?

    I don't use iSCSI anywhere in production and only play with it so that I can familiarize myself with the portion of iSCSI for test VCP5-VTC. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Has proved to be a problem with tgtd. I actually had to reboot the server to get exports to work properly - the normal command "tgtd restart service" has been leaving some kind of autour artifacts that prevented VMware to see the changes properly.

  • I share the same target iSCSI with multiple hosts?

    I have an iSCSI LUN target that appears when I discovered the storage for an ESXi host, but when I discovered the storage for another host, it does not appear. I added the suitable adapter software network and iSCSI on the second host, dynamic analysis and he sees the same iSCSI target, however when I go to 'Add a storage' there is no displayed LUN.

    I'm obviously missing something, I just can't understand what it is.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Storage Area Network - FC and iSCSI - do not automatically appear LUN to all hosts that connect to them. This is also called masking and prevents accidental access to LUNS of the host that is not allowed access to that LUN. You must configure the storage system, access to the LUN - once you do this for the other hosts will be displayed in the list and you will be able to access all hosts logic unit number.

    To avoid trampling of the ESXi put a lock on the VMDK so that a subsequent host will not be able to power of the virtual machine and write than disj virtuak

  • Target iscsi ESXI 5.0, active path connected, mounted, are not not in the data store data store

    HI -.

    I am looking for help to point me in the right direction.  This problem occurred after a reboot of the system.

    I'm in vmware esxi essentials 5.0.0 821926

    I use the starwind software as my iSCSI target

    I use ISCSI to connect to my server from storage to the esxi hosts.

    I have 2 warehouses of data showing inactive under clusters of data storage and the data store.  I have a third-party data store on the same server that is loading properly.

    I currently have the same behavior on three esxi hosts:

    under configuration - storage adapters is the ISCSI path is active. Data warehouses appear under devices and mounted.  In data warehouses, they are inactive. On the same storage server

    on the starwind Server - I have

    built a new target

    removed and added the databases to the new target

    Changed the IP address of the target.

    On Esxi hosts, I removed the ISCSI server, discover places BOF dynamic and static and added under the same or IPs news discovery

    I can restart esxi hosts & storage servers and get to that same point.

    Whenever I find myself in the same place - course assets, devices mounted, inactive in data warehouses

    I don't know what else to share, let me know what you need to know to help out me.

    Thank you

    Dylan

    OK, incase someone crosses my ramblings, it may help.  My original question was warehouses of data that would not rise.  They were visible as devices in the area of storage under devices and as devices in the scsi adapter.

    When I would try to force mount them, add storage, keep the signature, mount they wouldn't mount.  I did some research and my question was after a failed mount attempt strength as got data attached as snapshots warehouses.  I then mounted force them and he tells will data warehouses and I got them back.

    I followed this KB to identify and resolve the problem

    manipulation of vSphere detected as snapshot LUN LUN (1011387)

    When it was over, I tried to add vms back and found a new show.  Power of vms would expire.  the vmkernel.log showed;

    2014 05-27 T 07: 20:40.010Z [verbose 'Vmsvc' 564D7B90] Vmsvc: filtering Vms: ignored not ready to request power state vm vim. VirtualMachine:75

    I had latency huge read write showing upwards, 3K and more

    After several searches, I had in the ESXShell and found that there is no conflict of booking.

    On a whim, I took inventory all virtual machines that are now inaccessible.  I then added a DOS virtual machine. Alto! the latency down to version 1.2 a.7 ms for all data warehouses.

    ultimately the instructions said you may need to add virtual machines in the inventory, but does not remove all virtual machines first.  I was grabbing vms that were not in stock, so I didn't remove the old virtual machines in the inventory.

  • How to choose IMAP or POP, when adding another email account

    Recently, I wanted to add another (IMAP) e-mail account in the mail. I opened the mail, choose Add account in Messaging menu and then a different e-mail account. In earlier versions of the mail, you can choose the type of account in the first step, but in version 9.3 (3124) you are prompted to type only the username, your email address and your password. If you then click Next, mail adds an account without having to ask for the account type. In my case the added mail always one account pop. I couldn't change the account type in the account properties. The field for the incoming mail server shows gray the pop mail server. The only way to add an IMAP account type in incorrect parameters in the first step. Then, a window opens where I could type in the incoming and outgoing mail server settings. Same behavior on my iPhone with iOS 9.3.2 5s (13F69).

    Best regards Lutz

    Well at some point you can hold down the option key after completing the first screen and then press the continue Option, but it seems that no longer works.

    So now, when you add a new account, put in incorrect information in the user name or password, or both. Which will cause a failure and make up the most advanced screen, where you can choose the type of account that you are interested in.

  • PERC H330 and Raid 5, try adding another SATA drive raid 5 array

    Hi all

    I have one server PowerEdge T330 with 8 slots of disc and have currently 3 SATA drives running a raid 5 configuration.  I have a virtual disk configured for Raid (must).

    The operating system recognizes the disk and is able to use the resources...

    My desire is to add another hard drive to the table (hard disks of the same size, same brand, etc.) with 4 disks without losing any data.

    I looked in the settings of the iDrac and the only adjustment was to add the new disk as a global hot spare or a hot spare dedicated to the virtual drive.

    I also looked in the BIOS and do not see a way to add the new drive.

    Does anyone know how to increase capacity?  I can blow the virtual drive if necessary and start over without problem.  I intend to gradually accomplish this Act until adding 8 disks. (5 times).

    Help!

    Hello.

    Management controllers RAID and tables is not made in the BIOS iDRAC or systems. For the management of the RAID (virtual disks) arrays, you have OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA). If not installed, see the link: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=TK61C once installed, go to-> Storage->-> H330 PERC controllers-> virtual disk--> sub tasks available-> select reconfigure and run-> then check a box to add the fourth disk on the next page. Follow the prompts and allows you to extend your range of RAID 5.

    I must be missing something simple. Any help is very appreciated.

    As far as I know, it is not possible with the current construction of PowerCLI to set several iScsiNames on the same target.

    You use the $esxcli I'm afraid.

  • Adding a second iSCSI VLANS

    Aloha kakou - from now on, I have an iSCSI SAN (98.x) connected to my cluster. I need to add another connection to a second SAN (99.x). The only difference (at least for now), 99.x will be given LUN only (access via iSCSI initiator within the virtual machine) and 98.x has VM LUN and data.

    To do this - even if it's just data, the structure of 99.x vSwitch must be identical to 98.x (they have the same components)?

    Mahalo, Bill

    That's right, because communication iSCSI occurs between the o/s VM and iSCSI SAN - the Service Console/VMkernel port does not - this should answer any questions http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1010547

  • Unable to connect to target iSCSI for ESX 3.5

    Hi all

    I have an esx 3.5 build 82663 (update 1). We took over this company, so we are migrating this data center. I understand tha patch isn't 5 update but it wasn't our environment and we try to turn it on.

    We have three esx servers

    (1) console production svc - 192.168.7.x

    (2) storage network - 192.168.9.x

    EqualLogic 3)-192.168.9.x

    (4) storage Switch - CISCO 3750 Switch

    (5) frames enabled on vswitch, vmknic, physical, switch, network interface cards, table vlan and storage.

    (6) software iscsi client allowed an outgoing connection through 3260 (tcp)

    Performed troubleshooting

    esxcfg-vmknic - l - seems ok and with activated jumbo frames

    esxcfg-NICS - l - looks ok with activated jumbo frames

    esxcfg-vswitch - l - looks ok with activated jumbo frames

    esxcfg-road - l - (looks good)

    192.168.7.0 255.255.255.0 local subnet

    192.168.9.0 255.255.255.0 local subnet

    by default 0.0.0.0 192.168.7.1

    Works of vmkping between the storage network interfaces (192.168.7.x) i.e. physical switch, equallogic, and other interfaces for esx storage network.

    vmkping s 9000 192.168.9.11 (equallogic san) works without packet loss.

    Ping does not work between interfaces.

    Ping of physical switch to the san and esx equallogic storage network interfaces work

    Access to LUNS equallogic shared among interfaces are restrticted by the ip address of storage network (192.168.9.x). The LUNS they check marks against them to have several initiators communicate with them.

    No enabled chap authentication anywhere.

    I had another server with the same configuration connection to it without problems to the only difference is esxi can be accessed and the esx servers cannot access.

    Our environment has been only esxi. This is the first time I use esx and a system of update 1 for iSCSI.

    I'm on the critical path to complete the project.

    It would be useful that I can get all the help you can.

    See you soon,.

    Knockaert

    If I'm not mistaken in your service console needed to have access to the storage network 3.5 too.  Try to configure a second service on the storage network console and see if you can view the LUNS.   Can also be useful to filter through the vmkernel logs and see if you notice any errors.

    It will give the results you want in view of all the data of your table, or data that can be added to your table in the future? It depends on what you want. It is impossible to everything that publish you current data, and it is impossible to display all of the data that you can obtain in the future. The best is you specify exactly what you want. For example:
    "I want to group the lines and assign the we_pid lowest in the group like the merge_we_pid for all members of the group. Every row belongs to a group exaclty. The following rules define what a group is:
    (a) last_name, first_name, middle_name and suffix identical lines are always in the same group.
    (b) the lines with different name or last_name are never in the same group.
    (c) two lines with different middle_names and/or suffixes can be in the same group, subject to the following conditions
    (c1) One of the lines must be 'more complete' than the other
    (c2) If row is "less complete" that line B, then A must not be "less complete" any line C less than B or C is "less complete" than the other, whereby all 3 ranks fall in the same group.
    Line A is considered to be "less full" line B if and only if
    (1) A middle_name matches the beginning of B middle_name (first name of B can be longer), and
    (2) if A suffix is not NULL, then B has the same suffix. »

    I think that the example above describes what you want now. I guess that a suffix simply cannot be less than a complete suffix; that would deal with "II" as a less complete form of 'III'
    What you asked for in your previous thread differs only in the role of suffix. The query I posted yesterday treated suffix such as first and last name: it had to be exactly the same for all rows in the group, and suffix played no role in the condition (c) or the definition of the "complete".
    In the above query, if CONNECT BY condition tests a child line is more comprehensive than its parent. In the version I posted today, I changed the CONNECT BY clause to match the new definition of the "complete". Obviously, there are requirement suffix had to change. Yesterday, the B line could be more complete that the line has only if its middle_name took longer; now, they can be the same. But we cannot tolerate a situation where a line is it's own parent: to avoid to connect BY loops, add a condition that the middle_name or the suffix must be different.

    Added explanation.

  • Disconnect the target iSCSI via the script?

    Someone knows a way to script (or command line) a (deletion) offset of an iSCSI target?

    Here's how to turn that function:

    function RemoveIScsiTarget ($vmHostList, $address, $port) {
            foreach ($vmHost in $vmHostList) {
              $storageSystem =  $vmHost | Get-VMHostStorage | Get-View
              $storageSystem.UpdateViewData("storageDeviceInfo.hostBusAdapter")
              $iScsiDevice = "vmhba33"
              $iScsi = $storageSystem.StorageDeviceInfo.HostBusAdapter | where { $_.GetType().Name -eq "HostInternetScsiHba" }
              $sendTarget = $iScsi | foreach { $_.ConfiguredSendTarget } | where { $_.Address -like $address -and $_.Port -like $port }
              $sendTarget = $iScsi | foreach { $_.ConfiguredStaticTarget  } | where { $_.Address -like $address -and $_.Port -like $port }

              if ($sendTargets -ne $null -and $sendTargets.Count -gt 0) {
                   $storageSystem.RemoveInternetScsiSendTargets($iScsiDevice, $sendTarget)
              }
              if ($staticTargets -ne $null -and $staticTargets.Count -gt 0) {
                   $storageSystem.RemoveInternetScsiStaticTargets($iScsiDevice, $staticTarget)
              }
         }
    }

    And here is an example how to remove iScsi targets all hosts in your VC:

    RemoveIScsiTarget (Get-VMHost) "10.10.10.*" "*"

    Oh, my, why don't you tell that the starwind, vmware, firfox, and most other software is all copy of windows? They're all menus, toolbars and dialog boxes, even they seems.

    Just because of a dialog box, say you steal, a stupid reason.

    Don't lose your heart, Aldrichzh, as much as I know, the person to the top of star is an employee of starwind.

    I just santrunk, hong kong, a new provider of iSCSI target business also. But we have done in this period of years, we are also competitors.

    BTW, if someone comes here, I'll deal with it.

    Aldrichzh,

    As you know here, after our new released software, they'll say, I copy from him, I steal, or even crack and change the names of us / stealing source code from him, blah, blah... blah, blah... blah, blah... blah, blah... blah, blah...

    HA, people of the Earth like to brag about.

    We are competitors, but I hate unfair competition with no quality.

  • How to keep English as a default value in the spell checker after adding another dictionary?

    I added a Spanish dictionary for firefox that I sometimes email Spanish-speaking. Since then, the spell checker has stuck to Spanish language by default whenever I restart the browser.
    As soon as I select English, it remains until I close the browser. But goes back to Spanish when I open a new window.
    I tried every setting I could find, and I also tried to remove and reinstall both languages via add dictionary.
    I am at a loss. Can anyone offer some advice?
    Thank you

    You can check the spellchecker.dictionary pref setting on the topic: config page and if the pref tells the user the value (in bold) and then try to reset via the context menu to the default value.

    You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
    You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.

    If you do not keep the changes after a reboot or have problems with preferences, see:
