Laurawilliams65 - we heard you! There is a new update for the applications of communication (e-mail, calendar, people, e-mail) which allows you to manage the files of the Mail app!

You can learn more about the updates here: http://blogs.windows.com/windows/b/windowsexperience/archive/2013/03/25/the-mail-calendar-and-people-apps-are-getting-better.aspx

Once you update your applications, you can select a folder in the Mail application, display the control from the lower part of the application bar, then choose folder options to manage your records.

I hope this helps!

Thank you

Brian

I use Windows mail, last night (10/07/13) wiped my entire email, folders I created, everything. The only thing is that there are records of statndard. I was on a pop 3 and since his arrival in South Carolina last week and get rid of verizon I don't know what happened. During this time, he had 17 updates from microsoft, which had started the download as well. I tried to clean my system with Evidence Eliminator and this is the first time, this never happened. I was a sure stop where he cleans your files and then is supposed to be closed, because there no I did a manual stop with the power button when it started 17 updates, rebooted and then I check my emails and everything has disappeared? HELPPPPPP!

Do a search for *.eml and include the hidden files and folders. See if get you what it is.

You can also try a system restore. Not likely to work, but worth a try.

Time to start backing up your messages, I think.

  • Too many folders in windows mail.

Normally, when I open Windows mail on the side left under local folders, I have the Inbox, sent, deleted, project & junk. Now, when I opened W.Mail, I have these files but lots more under them, I Recovered messages starting & 3 batches of normal files usually have. I did nothing to change this & I'd like to go back to how it was, as now all my emails are distributed between different folders.

Unless you make a backup, you will need to manually fix things.  First compact and repair the database (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/) and see if that helps things.  Beware also of the antivirus software which can lead to this problem (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).

  • How can I set up separate e-mail folders in Windows Mail to two companies each with its own email address and the password?

We use Verizon as our ISP.  I was getting our email to two different companies by connecting to Verizon in with another user name and password for each company.  However, we have received messages in our email that we were almost our quota and customer emails we would not come through and have been having rebounded.  I spoke with Verizon and learned to use a 3rd party to channel messages and thus free up space from the server.  They helped me to set up the email to go in Windows Mail, but now all the email for both companies will in the same e-mail account.  How can we separate the email for both companies so that each company can log on to Windows Mail with their own separate IDs and passwords?

  • Records Windows mail disappeared (local folders (1))?

My windows mail subfolders are missing - all my emails are now just in the Inbox.

I checked in the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\ Mail\Local folders of Windows - and there are now 2 folders in Windows Mail:

Local folders - which is my original Sub-folders

Local folders (1) - which has the new layout with just the Inbox

Please can someone tell me how to restore the original file from local folders?

    Thank you

You must check for interference antivirus in Winmail because it is the biggest problem he has.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Then you should compact and repair the database (see www.oehelp.com/WMUti/).  If that doesn't fix things, then the best you can do is start all over again and rename the Windows Mail Windows old Mail directory.  Then create a new directory which replaces the former called Windows Mail.  Then start WinMail.  This will give you a basis of messages not corrupted.  Then, once it works fine, you can go to the file. Import | Messages and import them from the old directory (you might need to import twice, then point to each local folders in the older directory.

  • How do I re - arrange Windows Mail folders?

I'm a wonderful user, but I don't know how these things work, so I'm referring to the experts for advice.

Somehow... my folders in Windows Mail has redesigned and are now completely out of use.  How can I put the files in order, with the Sub correct folders where I want them to appear?

Thank you in advance for your help!

If you want the XXX folder to be a subfolder of the YYY folder, just drag it to YYY and let him do. If you want a folder to be a subfolder, drag it into local folders and let it go. Bruce Hagen

  • Problems of Windows Mail after you set up Sky email on Android phone

I had an account of Windows Messaging for many years. Computer uses Vista. My email account is with Sky.

I just bought a phone Android (Samsung Galaxy S 2) and to allow emails sync with this I enabled IMAP in my sky email account, then made a new account in Windows Mail IMAP settings.

The problem is that 10000 emails sent & received since 2008 trying to download. I continue to also invited to enter my username and password when I don't know the account entry is correct.

Finally, when in Windows Mail, I see now 2 lost records, a related probably to my previous account POP (still alive but not by default) and the other put my new IMAP account (and by default).

Can someone help me configure things properly? All I want is a set of folders in Windows Mail, and not that there are 10000 emails!

Anyone knows if I can talk to a human being in this regard if necessary?

    Thank you

Well, I did some research and was able to set up an IMAP account on my domain server.  There are some good instructions here: http://help.seattleserver.com/imap-setup-outlook-express that is specific to its installation, but you can see which screens, you will need to complete your details and options.

With respect to the 10000 emails, I suggest that you perform the following steps at the server level, which is to move messages from the Inbox to a folder created by the user.  Then in OE, go to tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | IMAP and uncheck the option to check messages in all folders.  When you synchronize it can ignore the folders created by the user rather then synchronize with it.

    See if that helps any.

  • My Windows Mail is withered on the vine!

Something very strange seems to happen to my content from the Inbox and my folders in Windows Mail. When I connect I get only my Inbox, and its contents so that I can easily manage my emails in my other files. Above my Inbox (in the now very short folder on the left list) there is the option of local records.

When I click on the content of the Inbox is replaced with the list of missing files. Each file, I open transfers to the list of folder and its contents are displayed in the main display. But I don't get up to five or six of these records until it breaks down and nothing appears at all. It all comes down to only local folders on the left, and below, the Inbox, but emphasizing one of them gives me no content in the main body of the screen. He said same no more of "no content, etc. The screen is just blank content and other files or a complete folder list are nowhere to be seen.

    Any ideas?

To download and install Windows Live Mail:

Look for the following folders in the Windows.old folder.

    (1) find the program files > Windows Mail
    (2) copy all files and folders in Windows Mail folder to a new folder (name the folder: VistaMailExport)
    (3) in Windows Live Mail, use the "Import" and point to the folder "VistaMailExport".

  • Can not save attachments in Windows Mail in Vista Local folders or subfolders

I have a new Vista 64 system and I have actually two problems.  First of all, I can't move old emails (more 2 G total) of my XP Outlook Express email on my old laptop in Vista 64 - bit Windows Mail on my new desktop.  Files folders and the content may be downloaded, but have not been recognized and installed by Win. Mail.  I talked to several computer technicians who could not find a solution except either to send the emails from old files individually or as a group to myself to my server (Yahoo more).  Is there a better solution?  Secondly, when I send my self a such email with multiple attachments and I try to save, I can't find a thread that will lead to my Windows Mail > local folders > Inbox >(folders and sub-folders).  Nor can I drag-and - drop these saved emails (they contain many different endings) to these files. Help, please.

    Hello Mmmaltby,

Thank you for using Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

A common method to transfer everything via is to use the Export command in Outlook Express to save all messages and contacts to separate files, copy them to the Vista PC and then use the option import (on the file menu) to import the data into Windows Mail.

If please reply and let us know if your problem is resolved or if you need more help

  • Outlook Express 6 emails were stored on an external drive and are stored in folders with the name of people. Is it possible to import them to Windows Mail on Windows 7?

The strange things about this is that the mails are visible when you view them via Solution Explorer and they can be added to Windows Mail one by one.  However, they do not seem to be in a dbx file and they are not imported when the folder is selected.  Don't know how all these emails got it sorted by name of the person (in the folders).

First of all, please note that Windows Mail is not provided and does not normally work under Windows 7. Perhaps mean you Windows Live Mail, which is a differnet program and also does not come with Windows7, well that many manufacturers together with the computers they sell.

However, there are solutions that allow you to run Windows Mail in Windows 7, so, assuming that you've used such a workaround, please read here:
