Addition of hard disk storage

VMWare.JPG

Hello

I'm new and I'm starting to learn more about Vmware. I am trying to add a new drive as storage space, but I get the following error. Can someone advise please?

Thank you

Chris

Welcome to the community of bro.

This problem may occur if:

  • The LUN size is greater than 2 TB - 512 bytes. The maximum size of the LUN in vSphere 4 is 2 TB - 512 bytes. For more information about this restriction, see Troubleshooting a unit number logic that extends in size beyond the limit of 2 TB/2047 GB (1004230).
  • This LUN has been used as an RDM earlier and does not have a valid partition table.
  • This logic unit number was used as a device to drive on another operating system and is not a valid partition table.
  • Logic unit number contains a GPT partition that cannot be deleted.

  • check and blue or green box returns the hard disk storage

I had this problem every since I bought the external drive.  Loads of storage there, but when I view a file, if I use all or part of it, restore it, there is a blue or green box which returns with the restored item.  The green box is enabled, and the blue box has double arrows pointing to the right.  What a pain...  I placed in checked and removed indexing and archive capabilities, and who will be after several tests some of them take off the file, but so far I can only do one at a time.  I'd rather the machine in the dumpster than that and if I replace the external hard drive, I have one problem with another.  The problem has nothing to do with windows 7 or 8, I upgraded from 7 pro 8 and they both do the same thing.   ANY IDEAS?  EVEN A HINT?  ?  I THINK THAT I FORMAT THE DISK AND THROW IT INTO THE RIVER. .

Looks like your drive came with a program that synchronizes data. Or you are looking to your Skydrive storage folder.

  • You want to add additional SATA hard disks to the Pavilion p6310y...

This model looks like it should be particularly conducive to the welcoming the addition of another or even a third hard drive. Why then when I open it there only SATA for the master and all the other connectors coming out of food are these old things of molex 4 pin?  I find it quite confusing because the hard drive, I am trying to add came out of my last HP (older)... but it is SATA, and even the old model had at least a SATA connection available for the slave. This computer is brand new... buy adapters do expect?

Thanks in advance for anyone to help.

Your model came with a significant (1 terabyte) hard drive. One option is to make another partition on the disk through the disk manager. You can add a card pci or pcie x 1 sata controller to do more SATA ports available.  There Iadapters PSU ndependent ($ 3.00 USD) for connectors from Molex 12v which will convert SATA power connectors available

PC OEMS are not built to be extensible without some additional expenses. The alternative is to build your own and select everything you want inside the case.

  • Hard disk - storage space Maximum allowed for Pavilion G7 2233 cl

    Hello world

Long time lurker, first time here poster.  This forum helped me a lot when I removed Windows 8 and Windows 7 Professional installed for helping me find the right drivers for everything.  So thank you all for this.

in any case, on my question...

I'm modding my HP Pavillion G7 2233 portable cl.  I added a 512 GB SSD Crucial MX100, but I saw somewhere that someone who has exactly the same laptop replaced the DVD optical drive with a caddy to hold a second hard drive.  I want to add a second hard drive to use as media storage space, documents, video, photos, etc.  He will see a lot of movement between the download, delete, etc..  I didn't want my SSD doing so wear out prematurely.  I already bought a caddy for that.

My question is what is the spaced maximum storage allowed for the Pavilion G7 2233 cl?  I couldn't find the info on the BIOS to tell us what it is.

I have Windows 7 Professional installed (came pre-installed with Windows 8, but has been removed because it caused so many problems).

Happiness is not around the corner... it's IN the corner

1 TB is now the 'bigger' standard hard drive for your laptop (2 TB or 3 TB for desktop computers). There are bigger drives for laptops out there, but assistive technology that storage in a small space is still fairly new. Especially with new laptops, there is not a limit, in itself, the size of the hard drive, you can install.

  • T500 swallowing hard disk storage

T500 to my daughters, what's new in June shows 74% of the hard drive used in a box 'unparsed' 0 files, but uses more 94 GB.  I checked the repair and recovery and it shows no. backed up the files.  I deleted the DPR program and it did not recover any space.  Any ideas what is slowly corrodes the available storage. Incidentally, the hard drive is a renovated as the new died, and Lenovo sent under warranty as a 'replacement' a car refurbished.  The operating system is Vista.

    erviv, welcome to the forum,

you don't mention which operating system is installed, this may be relevant.

Please take a look at this possible solution.

    Hope this helps

  • Pavilion P6-2125 - adding additional hard disks

    Nice day.

Can I add additional hard disks SATA internal? Is the power supply sufficient to allow this? In addition, this will void the warranty?

    Thank you, Joe

    Hi, Joe:

When I look at the upgrade and maintenance of your PC guide, I don't get a hard drive Bay.

So, I would say that your PC is not configured to handle more than one hard drive.

  • Can I add an additional hard drive storage?

A 40 GB hard drive, I installed in my computer and I would like to know what would be the best practice to install an additional hard drive?

A 40 GB hard drive, I installed in my computer and I would like to know what would be the best practice to install an additional hard drive?

    Basically, you have two choices:

    1. install a second hard drive (only possible if your computer has physical space for this)

    2. replace your 40 GB with a bigger drive.

If you add or replace, there are two important factors you need to consider size and interface type.  Most laptops use 2.5-inch disks.  Most of office/towers use 3.5-inch disks.  There are several different hard drive interfaces, and you get a drive that has the same interface as your computer.

Most older computers use the Parallel ATA interface (PATA or sometimes simply ATA).  These discs are also called IDE disks.  There are several variations, but those generally available today is the Ultra ATA66 IDE / ATA - 5, Ultra ATA100 IDE / ATA - 6 and the Ultra ATA133 IDE / ATA-7.  The numbers refer to the data transfer rate.  No matter the data transfer capacity of the disc, however, your actual data transfer rates will be limited by your motherboard.  Finally, you'll notice an RPM rating and a size of "cache".  For the performance, in general, the higher these numbers the better the performance.

Number of computers more recent uses the interface Serial ATA (SATA).  There are three versions of the present.  SATA-1 (1.5 Gbps), SATA-2 (3 Gbps) and SATA-3 (6 Gbps).  However, given that you currently have a 40 GB drive, it is strong enough to bet that you have NOT of SATA.

Another interface is SCSI.  You have probably not SCSI.

The starting point is by identifying the brand and model of your computer.  If you have a desktop/Tower computer, you can buy almost any hard drive, that you like; laptops can be a bit more picky.  A good resource for readers (once you know what you want) is newegg.com  Drive Solutions offer one advice that should tell you what players are compatible with your computer.

If you choose to replace rather than add them, you will need to 'clone' of your existing to the new drive.  To do this, you will need appropriate software.  Sometimes, the software basic disk of cloning comes with the disk (remember to read the product description or email/call the seller before you buy).  Sometimes, it is available as a free download from the manufacturer of the drive (for example, if you buy a Western Digital drive, WD has "Acronis True Image WD Edition Software").  Or you can get your own copy of various applications of cloning, some are free, but more for sale.

If you replace a laptop (or a drive in a desktop/tower with no computer available drive Bay), you can buy an external hard drive enclosure.  There are a variety of them.  Just be sure to get one with the internal interface correctly to match the drive and an external interface that is compatible with your computer (usually, USB 2.0).  External hard disk enclosure are sometimes comes with disk cloning software.  And, once your new drive is in place and functioning satisfactorily, you can put the old drive in the box and erase (format) it and use it as a backup drive.

Above sounds a lot more complicated than it is.  You will probably find even the process YouTube videos, if you look at.

  • Additional HARD disk adds HP ENVY 6-1120sq

I just bought a HP ENVY 6-1120sq which has a SSD 128 GB on it. Is it possible to add an additional normal HARD drive?

Really, they don't want messing you here... envy 6 Ultra is a closed system. However, it is configured to use a 2.5 inches wide but thin 7 mm 'standard' hard drive and has a slot for a smaller WSSD (physical size), which is what you have. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

7 mm 500 gig hard drive

Get the MSSD and a normal hard drive to play nice together cannot be too easy. In many systems, the WSSD is used as a 'cache' drive to speed up the main drive. In yours, it is used as main storage.

  • Dimension 8400-addition of a hard disk secondary?

I have a 8400 Dimnesion with a Seagate st3160023as 144 GB of hard drive. I do a lot of digital imaging with my computer and another that constantly backup my files on cd and dvd... the hard drive fills up fast.

I would add a secondary internal hard drive, and I wonder if it is possible to do with this computer? I have a DVD and a CD/R in the computer, but I guess there will be an open crack or two in the computer.

Is there a limit on the size of the second hard drive I can put in? I was looking for a 300 GB hard drive... but with some of the 700 GB hard disks became cheaper... I might want to go that route.

Ideally, I reformat and clean install my original disk first... and install the Windows XP operating system and my programs normally used on it. I have then add the second hard drive and use it for my digital and video imagery.

I know that the Seagate drive is a SATA drive... so I guess that the second disc should be SATA?

What is a plug and play, set up?

My diet will manage an extra drive?

Will be a 700 GB (or also a 300 GB) drive to work with this system?

Any problem that I should watch?

I really appreciate any advice or comments you can offer!

In Windows 7, you can get a lot of details by selecting Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, system information, components, storage disks. It was very similar to Windows XP, but for all information users tend to use Everest or Belarc Advisor for additional information not available. Everest has been best Bellarc advice but they ceased to offer tan updated free version. However, the 2.20 version is always available from third-party sites.

  • Configure a raid with a single HDD on board more than 2 external HARD disk.

    Hello

I run Win8 Pro 64 bit with Media Center, updated Win 7 Media Library on a 27-1007ev HP all in one desktop pc with a 500 MB HARD drive inside.

I have 2 external hard drives - one is 1.5 TB used to store data such as pictures and videos etc. NAWL, the other is a 2 TB used as a backup device.

I want to set up a Raid mirror on the PC's HARD disk to one of the sources, without having to do a reinstall if possible.

I appreciate the external ability could be underutilized unless I upped the HARD internal disk capacity to match.

    Any advice warmly welcomed.

    Hello

The motherboard in your PC's bios for RAID support.  In addition, there are only two ports SATA; one for the HD and the other for the CD/DVD drive.

You can use a function of storage W8.  Check out this video W8 storage space.  You cannot use the current drive although I got it to work a long time ago, but have not tried to do recently.

Another possibility would be to try a software RAID using only two USB external drives. Other possible combinations, but none are going to be as robust as using the bios RAID supported feature.

  • A few questions about the defrag and hard space as I get a notification saying my hard disk space became full of drive

I have problems with my hard drive. I got a notification saying that my hard disk space became full. So I cleaned a lot of programs and files of the irrational. I've freed almost half of it. Then I had another notification a few days later and realized that I had less than 1 GB of free space on my hard drive 600 g. I cleaned more and went to defragment my disk. It is set on a calendar, but I don't think that he has never been defragmented. He ran for about 2.5 days until the cord is unplugged and the battery is dead at 91% consolidated. Do I have to start again and wait again 2.5 days before I little hard drive space open? Or progress in the early days of 2.5 will remain défragmentée? In addition, defrag and do a disk cleanup will stop my hard drive to fill almost instantly after deleting and uninstalling programs? I'm running out of things to remove and I am a full-time student full and really need a computer in operation, please help!

Defragmentation is complete, will continue from the left point last time. Therefore, if you raise, he will continue that 91 percent (of course, it will start from 0%, but the scan will go up that 91% and continue with the rest of the space on the hard disk, that 91% of surface of the hard drive has been defragmented already).

Yes, you can delete all the files inside the Temp folder. TEMP folder is a temporary storage place used by some programs to temporarily store the files/folders. Some programs remove the files/folders after working, but some retain them, causing space problems.

You can use disk cleanup, on occasion, to delete unnecessary files from the hard drive.

  • When installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system?

Have a Dell system, caught a virus and it has really messed up the PC. Recently, it got worse so I tried to reinstall the operating system with the Dell disks. It wouldn't work. So I bought for Windows 7 Professional, it will not be installed. My first question when installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system? Because this does the same as the Dell disks, is to take what is on the hard drive and put it in a folder called windows old, is not formatting the HD. When I boot the disk, it shows the installation of files then open windows and start the installation. Before he could finish I get an error missing or corrupted files. Tried several times now, windows will still not open. Any suggestions? Once while trying to install the pc crashed with a blue screen which is one of the reasons why I have reinstall the OS, he started to plant a few times. I don't remember all the details on my PC, but its 4 years, triple core coprocessors, ram 8 GB, 500 GB HD. At the same time just after all this started in Jan. I had also improved my 3 GB to 8 GB memory. I bought the Dell memory for my system. Since the crash, could there be a problem with these new memory chips? Last night I tried to disassemble each and reinstalling it, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Before I tried to reinstall the operating system, the pc was see the concert 8.

Disconnect any other (additional) internal hard drives and external USB devices.
Look for any loose hard drive power or cables SATA, graphics card or other power cables.

    First run Memtest86 +:
It runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if one or more of your memory
sticks are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours (at least 3 full passes), so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.
