T500 swallowing hard disk storage

T500 to my daughters, what's new in June shows 74% of the hard drive used in a box 'unparsed' 0 files, but uses more 94 GB.  I checked the repair and recovery and it shows no. backed up the files.  I deleted the DPR program and it did not recover any space.  Any ideas what is slowly corrodes the available storage. Incidentally, the hard drive is a renovated as the new died, and Lenovo sent under warranty as a 'replacement' a car refurbished.  The operating system is Vista.

erviv, welcome to the forum,

you don't mention which operating system is installed, this may be relevant.

Please take a look at this possible solution.

Hope this helps

Merry Christmas

  • check and blue or green box returns the hard disk storage

I had this problem every since I bought the external drive.  Loads of storage there, but when I view a file, if I use all or part of it, restore it, there is a blue or green box which returns with the restored item.  The green box is enabled, and the blue box has double arrows pointing to the right.  What a pain...  I placed in checked and removed indexing and archive capabilities, and who will be after several tests some of them take off the file, but so far I can only do one at a time.  I'd rather the machine in the dumpster than that and if I replace the external hard drive, I have one problem with another.  The problem has nothing to do with windows 7 or 8, I upgraded from 7 pro 8 and they both do the same thing.   ANY IDEAS?  EVEN A HINT?  ?  I THINK THAT I FORMAT THE DISK AND THROW IT INTO THE RIVER. .

  • Hard disk - storage space Maximum allowed for Pavilion G7 2233 cl

    Hello world

Long time lurker, first time here poster.  This forum helped me a lot when I removed Windows 8 and Windows 7 Professional installed for helping me find the right drivers for everything.  So thank you all for this.

in any case, on my question...

I'm modding my HP Pavillion G7 2233 portable cl.  I added a 512 GB SSD Crucial MX100, but I saw somewhere that someone who has exactly the same laptop replaced the DVD optical drive with a caddy to hold a second hard drive.  I want to add a second hard drive to use as media storage space, documents, video, photos, etc.  He will see a lot of movement between the download, delete, etc..  I didn't want my SSD doing so wear out prematurely.  I already bought a caddy for that.

My question is what is the spaced maximum storage allowed for the Pavilion G7 2233 cl?  I couldn't find the info on the BIOS to tell us what it is.

I have Windows 7 Professional installed (came pre-installed with Windows 8, but has been removed because it caused so many problems).

1 TB is now the 'bigger' standard hard drive for your laptop (2 TB or 3 TB for desktop computers). There are bigger drives for laptops out there, but assistive technology that storage in a small space is still fairly new. Especially with new laptops, there is not a limit, in itself, the size of the hard drive, you can install.

Is there anyway for there no pointed out that memory?  I have a lot of room in my iCloud (143 GB) account for storage. I tried dragging and deposited in iCloud, but that did not work.

  • Photos can work using just an external HARD disk and leave my only intern?

    Hello

I am using v1.5 Photos. On my Macbook HARD internal disk fills up very quickly. Fortunately, I have a nice external 1 TB drive and I would like to:

    (1) move all my photos on the external drive and direct Photos program so search the folder on the external HARD drive to find all photos.

    (2) when I import pictures from my camera in the future, that the Mac them automatically in the folder of photos on the external HARD disk and not keep fill the space limited on my Mac small disk internal.

Is this possible? I remember that I was able to do it with iTunes years when I used a Powermac with 4 x internal HDD of various sizes. iTunes has been able to see the music on each disk files and present them to me as a single list of iTunes.

I'm not interested in using iCloud at all, I have everything on HARD drive and memory sticks and I am satisfied that, as it provides all the storage I need and I only use a computer for my work.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Yes, it is possible to keep the pictures library on an external drive. Make sure that the unit is running at the launch of photos from your Mac.

If it is a result of a damaged index, force Spotlight to reindex your disk/volume:

    1. from the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.

    2. click on the projector.

    3. click on the Privacy tab.

    4. drag a folder or an entire volume (hard disk) to the list.

    5. If prompted for confirmation, click OK.

    6. remove the element or the volume that you added to the list by clicking on it, then clicking the sign less (""-"") button.

    7. close Spotlight preferences.

  • Satellite A-P70-11V - HARD disk protection works without accelerometer?

    Hi all

    I'm new here.
I did another post. In short, I'm expert enough in Toshiba Satellite laptops, but my new, Satellite P70-A-11V, a portable high professional range, had some problems. It came with Windows 8, which I upgraded to 8.1. Unfortunately, the degraded system so bad that all pendrives made plant. I have connected my Toshiba camcorder, and it also crashed the laptop.

The search indexing was not working outside the C: drive. The pointer of an optical mouse has started to freeze for seconds on the screen.
This last I believe was due to the low power USB ports.

So, I really had no choice after 2 restorations system total and installed Windows 7 Enterprise x 64 SP1. Operating system almost seems ok, but I still have problems, and one of them is that but I'm trying to install the accelerometer utilities, there is no driver.

I tried that Windows 8 x 64, but just, it does not appear on the list of services.

I found that the utility of the HARD disk protection was also arrested, I searched this forum and someone said that the Intel Rapid Storage technology must be uninstalled. I did and my HDD is running... but I don't know if it's effective!

I remember with the 8.1 Windows, the utility always shown a message on the upper right: Vibration is detected, the drive is temporarily closed, etc..

She has been associated with some high tone sound indicating that the drive has been effectively stopped. Now I can shake it off the laptop, but no message appears, there is no sound.

I checked all the boxes on the interface of protection of HARD drive to indicate if there are vibrations, but so far nothing. The drive protection is in place and running, but in the absence of use of the accelerometer, the protection of disk HARD just don't know when to act.

Am I wrong? Can Toshiba fix this?

    All responses are greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Toshiba drivers and tools available to win 8 or 8.1 to win are not entirely comparable with Toshiba available for Win 7 OS software.
Some drivers and tools that are available to win 8 don t exist for the Win 7 system.

For example; commercial accelerometer or HDD Protection Utility released in particular to win 8 / Win system 8.1 and are not available for Win 7.

But for Win 7, you can find the Toshiba VAP (value added package) and this package installs a range of important services that are an essential component of the Windows system and this PPV will perform the other original programming TOSHIBA works correctly.

Therefore, you must install the VAP as Toshiba's first tool to ensure that other software such as HDD/SSD Alert Utility or PC Health Monitor

  • Re: Canvio external HARD disk. What is the preloaded software?

Just installed this unit of 500 GB and there are two files pre-installed on it. One, "autorun" to 34 bytes and the second 'software offers"to 15.6 MB. Autorun does not work and software offer is just a screen that looks like its intended to show the contents of the HARD disk, but does not work. You can delete these two files? No information in the literature on each file.

I do not have this external HARD drive, but as far as I know Toshiba offers software to backup very uncomfortable. After installing the software, you have several options that you can use for data backup or data storage.

I assume you have not be able to install this software, right?

  • Help to find the driver on the Satellite A200 (PSAE6) HARD disk controller

Greetings. This text has been written through a translation program, to try to understand :)

    Problem:
My friend bought a few days back to herself TOSHIBA Satellite A200 (PSAE6) where it has been established operating system Windows Vista Home. He asked me to change OS on Windows XP Pro. With the first problem I have consulted - have deleted Vista, but to set up XP is not possible due to the absence of the HARD disk controller driver in the OS distribution kit. Windows Installer cannot find the HARD drive. I read that it is necessary to load the driver during Setup, press the F6 key. But a problem I can't find the driver in that.

We have no disk with drivers that should go with a computer and therefore it is necessary to search independently on the Internet. On the Toshiba site to locate the pilot, it was not possible. Then I came to the Intel site and download "RAID/AHCI - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager» After unpacking I got only «infinst_autol.exe» archive

    Question:
Where can I download this driver (not a "EXE" format) that can be used during the installation of Windows XP?
    PS: a chipset - Intel PM965 Express

    Thank you

  • 15 - e016TX: SMART hard disk error

When I started the laptop before 2 days I got this smart disk check error 301. I registered number free and portable compain is under warranty, so I have no problem, but I want my hard drive data.

It's true on some models, but see the manual. In your case, the hard disk appears in the section "automatic client repair" and there is an accessible sign of the customer in order to remove the hard drive and always keep the warranty. Just reseating and affects upward before sending it to HP.

If he really bothers you to open it and I do not understand if this is the case, there are other ways to get data but require some advanced tech skills as booting from a live recording of LInux and these methods would still require some sort of external storage drive to store data. A large USB key would work. After the back if you want to discuss these possibilities.

If it's 'the Answer' please click on 'Accept as Solution' to help others find it.

  • A MK-8025GAS HARD disk will fit in my M10 Pro Sat?

I think my laptop satellite PRO M10 HD upgrade but I do not know if the Toshiba 80 GB HD MK-8025GAS fits well inside the laptop. would be any problem of pins or something similar? I did look at other Toshibas not HD and they are not due to external HD case, near the axis side.

    Can any boyd help me?

The response of the Toshiba storage Division was:
"For more information about using a 80 GB HARD drive, contact the manufacturer of your laptop."

    Yes really well!

    Hello

As you probably know hard drives manufactured by Toshiba, you can find in the notebooks of different laptop manufacturers. Toshiba HARD drive producer is not obliged to test the compatibility of products with thousands of laptop models. Regarding that it is OK.

Back to your question: your laptop model comes with 30, 40 and 60 GB HDD, depending on the hardware configuration. Unfortunately there is no public document on the compatibility of the HARD disk for your model, but it is possible that 80 GB HARD drive will not be recognized correctly by the BIOS. If you wish, you can contact the Service of your country partner and try to pick up a few details.

    Good luck!

    Concerning

    Hello!

Have you looked for a bit in the forum for this problem? You will find a large number of threads.

However, you need the SATA drivers if you are installing your notebook computer with the Microsoft installation disc.
I put t know what laptop do you have but for laptops equipped with Intel chipset, you need Intel Storage Manager.

Download the drivers on the Web from Toshiba or Intel site, copy it to an external floppy drive and load it with F6 after booting from the CD.
Or create you your own installation with nLite [www.nliteos.com] disc.

    Good bye

Hey! tomorrow, I installed the HP support Assistant software and in its storage > hard disk, I found TOSHIBA hard drive and I was shocked... now I m facing problems because after some time during the use of the laptop the screen turns blue and displays the hard drive error... What should I do now?

You can buy on eBay India? The size of a hard drive you want to? For US $150, you may get a 500 gig SSD which will speed up the system a lot. For less than US $100, you can get a big regular hard drive (1 TB).
