  • ADE closes unexpectedly, everytime I open an EPUB library book

I just downloaded Adobe Digital Editions to read an e-book library on my Mac. I created an id ADE as well. When I open ADE, I found the help EPUB doc ADE and had a quick look. This document opened very well with just a double click. Then I double-clicked the file of SOCIAL mobilization, that I had downloaded my library. ADE has created the EPUB file and added to my library ADE - and crashed immediately, only to give me a ' ADE quits unexpectedly "dialog box. I opened ADE once again and saw that the book from the library was in the list next to the help guide ADE. I click right on the book from the library and selected 'read '. The program to close unexpectedly (well, step as unexpected as the first time, from my point of view, but perhaps twice as frustrating).

I tried three other things, without success:

    1. double-click on the file of mobilization in my downloads folder. This reproduces only my first failure: ADE reopened, showing a second copy of the book - but crashed immediately. I then looked in the 'Digital Editions' the created program folder and saw two versions of the EPUB. (Each is 5 MB in size, compared to the CMHA 2 k file).

    2. I opened ADE in my Applications folder, then select the file > add to library > and chosen the EPUB file. This added the book to my bookshelf in ADE again, this time with a label of "twenty days" in the corner, showing how much time I can get the book from the library. I double-clicked then the book in ADE. ADE closes unexpectedly.

    3. I returned to my drive hard Digital Editions folder and right click on the EPUB file. I selected "open with...". "and then clicked on iBooks. The iBooks program refused to open the book, saying he was corrupt.

It is just that my library gave me a file CMHA glitch. But since the file is apparently a protected EPUB, an open document, it may also be that iBooks cannot open it at all. It occurs to me that something I did caused the ACSM file is corrupted. (I have re-download the mobilization, with the same results as above, on all the steps.)

Where this is important: I have been using Overdrive on my iPad to read books from my local library. I have not tried to open the EPUB book in Overdrive on the iPad yet, because I do not have the iPad with me at the moment.

Any suggestions you can give would be welcome.

    Please try the steps below.

Yes, I had allowed the reader with my adobe ID and reinstated the info but it did not help.  I finished of unsubscribe and re-registration drive and start over AND also reauthorizing ADE to my computer.  Together, these two things has solved the problem.

(I also signed in and out of my Kobo account, but it does more either.)

I get very frustrated - I never had this problem with my Kobo Touch or earlier versions of ADE.

  • How can I find library books in the ADE

I just installed ADE 1.7.2 on my PC (Windows XP) & trouve found in the sample library, but still have not found the main library so that I can download books to my e drive. Where can I find the library within the site of ADE?

Marilyn, I think that you misunderstood my comment about 'signature'  You do

on the Adobe website once and it will record your use of ADE.  When

you have ADE on your computer, you should have an icon on your

desktop, that says "Adobe Digital Editions".  When you click on it and

Open it, ADE will show the page from the library on your computer.

Many if not most of the libraries offer an option that allows you to choose the file

type you want to download (the same is true for many ebook sites).  If you

chose "epub" or "Adobe epub" of their option, the download process

opened ADE on your computer and as you choose between open

or SAVE the ebook.  Whatever it is, the process would be directly load the ebook

in ADE - and would open ADE in playback mode, if you said "OPEN."  You do not have

mention if you have downloaded your ebooks library before or after

installed ADE.  If you downloaded previously, they were stored on your

    hard drive.

I don't know your level of comfort with technical things on your PC, so I

have to make certain assumptions.  The first is that you are comfortable

managing files with Windows and can use it to search for files on your PC.  In

this case, it will be your downloaded ebooks.  The most common application

use to do this is Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer) because it

allows you to watch all the files and folders on your PC. My comments below

    assume that you can do.

The process to bring ebooks on your hard drive in ADE is relatively easy,

but we must know where the ebook on your hard drive.  You start by

ADE opening in library view.  Place your cursor over the word 'Library' and one

small arrow will appear next to him.  Place your cursor on this arrow and a

drop-down menu appears.  The list of choice 'Add the item to the library' and

    Click on it.

A menu will appear allowing you to specify what file/ebook you want to add.

It is practically the same menu as one in Windows Explorer and you can browse

the drive to find the file.  When you have found it, click on it, and

It should appear in the lower box.  Then click OK and ADE will be

view this ebook to his point of view of library on the right side.  You can repeat

This process for all ebooks you have downloaded before installation of ADE.

Transfer the ebook to your ereader is relatively easy, BUT it

will not work correctly unless ADE recognized your ereader.  You have to

start this process by plugging the ereader to your computer's USB port,

and wait Windows tells you that it is recognized by a reader

letter.  When this is done, you log on to the Web site of the ereader and follow

instructions for registration the ereader with them.  In this

treat, use your Adobe ID, questioned, ADE allows to recognize your

eReader.  Once this process is complete, disconnect from this Web site.  Wait a bit

moments before the end of the update itself ereader and then open ADE on

your computer.  ADE should recognize your ereader and the list on the left

side of the display of the library (who called the side of the shelf).  ADE could

you ask to allow the ereader during this process, and you can do

    with a click or two.

Once the ereader appears, the process of transfer of ebooks is easy-

    simply drag and drop.

You can go online to a bookstore or a library with the ereader connected to

ADE, download an eBook to ADE and then drag and drop now.

When you are finished making transfers, you can close ADE.  Your willingness to ereader

Update for a few moments, and when it's done, you can disconnect it.

I hope this helps.  Otherwise, just ask more questions...

  • Loading library book in ADE

    Hi all

Seems as if a few people have had the probs get library books on ADE. I did some time ago (in some way) but can't do it now. I have Windows XP running ADE 1.7.2.1132. No message, nothing. «Allow the computer...» "said she is allowed to my email. I'm a little puzzled. Anyone with any ideas on what could be the problem?

For this problem, you must Deauthorize and reauthorize the ADAM.

Follow the steps below: (note you must know your current permission user id and password)

    Windows:

    Click Start > run.

Open, type regedit in the text box and press ENTER. The Registry Editor opens.

  • I can't open the books on my Kobo e-reader

    Hello

I want to open e-books I've downloaded on my e-reader. But when I try to open it it says:

    This file cannot be opened.

This document is protected by Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM) and is currently not available with you Adobe ID. Connect using the authorized Adobe ID and try again.

I allowed the pc and ereader - with the same address of e-mail, but on the site I have downloaded books since then, I use two other addresses. Can someone help me?

Hi I got the same message on my Kobo touch when I tried to open the books of the library (this document is protected by Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM) and is not currently authorized for use with your identification code Adobe please connect with the authorized Adobe ID and try again).  After reading a few posts on this topic, I did the following:

-Make sure you have Adobe 3.0

-Deauthorize the computer by following the instructions on their site (OverDrive |) How do I Deauthorize Adobe Digital Edition...)

-get a book pulled the book from the library

-When prompted, open using the ADE (or download I said just opened instead of download)

-When you try to open the book in ADE, it will ask you to authorize the computer

-J' put in my authorization (the same as my Kobo), then transferred the book to my Kobo.

-J' was then able to open my library book in my Kobo!

  • Wrong file download, library books can bring them on computer

After having used it with happiness ADE to load books from library on my computer for 2 years, I went and he screwed up.  I didn't have a shortcut for ADE on my desktop - the only way I could get was to open Adobe Reader and then via the "help" menu in Adobe Reader, I could go to ADE.  Well, I got tired of doing that, so I've played around with things and found a way out of ADE and make a separate icon on my desktop and start menu.  I thought everything was fine until the next time that I tried out a library book.  All of a sudden when I went to download the book, I got an error message & I noticed that the name of the file where the book was trying to load to a changed from ' adobe digital editions ' something weird, like 'ACS' as well as a few more things.  And it does not give me the option to change to something other than a drow in the menu drop-down or by browsing my files or anything like that.  I am still able to enter in ADE & use it for books that I have already downloaded, just can not download anything again.

Is it possible for me to change it manually to the correct file name?  Is it possible for me to solve this problem without uninstalling and reinstalling ADE?  If I need to uninstall, it is possible for anyone to give me very detailed instructions, step by step, as I agree with the basic principles on computers, but not very good with this stuff.  I'm on Windows XP.  Thanks much for any help you can offer!

Try to reinstall everything, uninstall it and see if that helps.  It should not upset your old books and settings.

As you are on XP, I suggest the slightly older v1.7.2.  (In fact, the new version has so many bugs I suggest the other oldest for everyone.)

    1. Download from http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/cant-install-digital-editions/_jcr_content/main-pars/procedure_2/proc_par/step_0/step_par/download/file.res/digitaleditions.exe
(see Adobe page http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/cant-install-digital-editions.html for more details).
    2. Click on the file downloaded in your browser (or double click as appropriate to the particular browser) to start the installation.
    3. He's going to ask you a few questions, just take all the easy answers.

With luck, that will make the file association for the .acsm file.

If it isn't, there's a chance that at least passing by the rigmarole you tried above works now.

    Good luck...

  • Back to top library books

I would use my Mac OS v10.5 computer. (not a handheld device) to return the library E Pub books initially using Adobe Digital Edition. How can I do?

    Thank you!

The "avatar" is the image of the cover of the book or the line of

description that appears in the library view of ADE.  When you place the cursor

This, a box will appear around it and a small arrow (actually something like

this: >) appears in the upper left corner of the box.  When you put

Place the cursor on the arrow, a note appears that says "Options of the element.  When

you click on the arrow, a drop down menu appears and the choice will be

include the element, the removal of the element, element of information (Editor's rights, opening)

and other things) and return point library if it's a library book.  View

    ebooks are called 'elements '.

    I hope this helps!
