  • Install printers network without Local administrator rights in windows 7

I need enable general users select the printers on our field network and install them without administrator password prompt. is it possible. or the administrator needs to install permanently. It is a feature of windows built-in to protect the pc from things being installed on this subject. I tried a few soultions and none of them worked. I tried to allow non-administrative install and put the GUID for printer in there, and it did not work. the only way I can get this to work is by adding the drivers on the PC as an administrator and then the local user can install the printer. because the driver is already installed.

It worked for me... found this after I posted above. hope this helps some of you having the same problem. I did it on my local pc not the domain GPO if it would work in two places.

There are TWO settings of "Restrictions of Point and print"

    • Computer Configuration/policies/Administrative Templates/printers/Restrictions point and print
    • User Configuration/policies/Administrative Templates/Control Panel configuration/Printers/Point and Print Restrictions
Of these two, under the Computer Configuration seems to be an important. But guess what? The original Server 2008 does not include this parameter in the list - you must Server 2008R2 for this setting is displayed. If you download the Server 2008 R2 administration models, extract and copy to C:\Windows\sysvol\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions PolicyDefinitions folder, this missing policy will magically appear in the Group Policy Management Editor. Of course, Server 2008 R2 ADMX files causes Group Policy Management Editor of Server 2008 of tocomplain of errors of analysis, but it works very well to click 'OK '.
Once you have installed the appropriate ADMX files, to make it work under Windows 7, configure both of these "Restrictions of Point and print" settings to:
    • Activated
    • Security prompts, when installing drivers for a new connection = not display warning or rapid rise
    • Security prompts, when installing drivers for a new connection = not display warning or rapid rise
Also, remember to ensure that users have the permission to install printer drivers, since you don't even try to use more administrator privileges:
    • Computer Configuration utilisateur\strategies\modeles Templates\System\Driver Installation
    • The setting is called "allow the non-administrateurs to install drivers for these device setup classes."
    • You need to add the printersdevice GUID class : {4d36e979-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Don't forget to update the strategy on the workstation computer by running the command "gpupdate/force". Log in as a non administrator user and test! It worked for me with a boring Konica Minolta bizhub C550 driver fax which was causing my win7 administrator for privileges users when the logon script tried to install the driver for them. YMMV.
    Good luck!
  • blurry display with the new update of windows 8.1

my computer compaq presario CQ60, whose orinionally running vista) automatically updated windows and now the screen is fuzzy and the icons and the sign on the screen is too big for the screen.  It does give me an option to change the display changes the resolution.  is it possible to go back to an earlier version of windows 8 (I bought online when vista has stopped working) or someone has another solution?

    Thank you

    Hey @telbanks ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that your laptop screen became fuzzy after a recent Windows Update.

I took a look at the specifications of your laptop and see that you are using the graphics card Intel GMA 4500. This card not a not the addition of drivers available for Windows 8 performance cannot be guaranteed.

If this problem started after the update to Windows 8.1 form Windows 8, you will need to perform a system refresh. You can see how to do this here: How to refresh, reset, or restore your PC. The update will uninstall all the software on the laptop and back to Windows 8. A nice feature of this process, is that it records a list of programs uninstalled on the desktop, so you can easily re-install. This process does not delete your personal files.

You can also follow these steps to prevent it happening again:

    1. Press the Windows Key + R.
    2. Type gpedit.msc , and then click OK. This opens the Local Group Policy Editor.
    3. Go to Computer Configuration > administrative models > Windows components > Store.
    4. Double-click disable the offer was updated to the latest version of Windows and set it on " Enabled".

This should you return to Windows 8 where we are short of things well and prevent it from happening again.

  • Problem with Gpedit.msc - local Intranet Sites

    Hi all

    I have a Server Windows 2008 R2 with IE 11 (latest update).

I had a problem with my local Intranet Sites.

On my server, I added these parameters on gpedit.msc:

User-computer configuration (both)---> administration model component Windows---> Internet Explorer---> Internet Control Panel Security Page---> Site to the list of assignment---> active---> 192.168.50.226 box--->--->: value 1

but it seems that nothing has changed.

I want that when I go to this site (192.168.50.226), it will automatically log in with my credentials. I've already put this setting on Internet Explorer Option:

But it is still asking me the credentials.

The strange thing I did it work on another server (same OS, same version of IE, same settings gpedit, same everything) and works. Not here.

If I go to Internet Options---> local Intranet Sites, on my server I see this:

Site window all is greyed out.

The window on the other server (the working one) is like this:

I do not understand why, I did the same things...

    Maybe someone knows why?

    Thank you very much.

This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)

  • How to restrict access to the drive of Wndows xp sp3?

I have 3 user account on my computer, it is has the administrator rights and the other is a standard user account.

I want to restrict access to all readers for the standard player.
I used gpedit.msc to enable the administrative model, but it also limits the account admin and me to access the road
    OS: windows XP SP3
    Please advice
    Hi Utkarsh.Ranjan,

If you want to restrict access to a drive by using the Group Policy Editor, you can not apply for a particular user account. This will change for the user accounts.

You can't restrict access to the complete transmission. However, you can resrtict access to folders and files inside a car to a particular user.

Refer to the section "set, view, change, or remove special permissions for files and folders" in the following article and follow the steps to remove the authorization of the user access to the file/folder.
  • How can I disable keys

How can I disable keys such as CTRL + ALT + down arrow?  I use this combination quite often in another program and whenever I do, it flips my screen upside: (.)  I tried to open gpedit.msc and go to user administration models, components Configuration Windows, Explorer Windows and help turn off Windows + X Hotkeys, but that did not help.

DonK!  The short cuts keyboard of windows are all combinations of the Windows key + something else, for example Windows + L will change user.  The CTRL + ALT + Basel is a shortcut for graphics.  To disable them, just do a right click anywhere on your screen and select Graphics Options, then keys shortcut, then clear.  Problem solved.

  • Activate the battery for Notification greyed out icon

    * Original title: Impossible to activate the Notification Area Windows 7 battery icon, I tried the gpedit

I can't find a way to activate Windows 7 battery icon. The option is grayed out in the Panel-> items-> Notification area icons Control Panel. I tried using GPEdit as some other answers said, but there is no option to activate the battery icon. I opened GPEdit, go to the administration model, and there is no option to turn on/off the battery icon at all. I use Windows 7 Home Premium, and my battery is a CyberPower UPS System. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello ZRAMN,

The probable cause for the reason for the battery icons are not displayed in the notification could result from notifications being off for the battery icon under the Turn system icons on or off. You can enable notification.

  • "The action cannot be completed because the file is open in another program" error when you try to delete folders in Windows 7

I've just updated 5 machines for a client to windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro. their data is stored on a server (SBS 2003) and so far, if they wanted to move files or folders or update documents Word / Excel sheets that they could do to will be no problem. What seems to happen now, is that if they try to edit files, then re-save (Word Documents, data sheets Excel etc), they are told the file is in use and changes cannot be saved. We have also upgraded their MS office Pro 2003 to 2010 Small Business but this seems to affect all based not only social files, so for example if I try and move a PDF file from one folder to another I get "file is used and can not be moved / deleted.

I also have another customer with the same problem, same configuration (positions upgraded Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro) they also have problems with moving / deleting files from the shares on a SBS 2003 Server?

I checked the server and the files are certainly not open where else?

Can someone help me on this...

I also tried the following to see if I can cure the problem:

I changed the parameters of GP on Small Business SERVER 2003 as follows:

User configuration - administrative models - Windows components.

    • Click on Windows Explorer.
    • Right click on the entry 'disable caching of thumbnails in the hidden thumbs.db files', then select Edit.
    • Select the parameter.

like apparently Windows 7 stores files in a Thumbs.db file information & to see if that makes a difference, but still no change.

It's seriously trying my patience and my clients are now wondering if they have windows XP back!

Surely theres a fix for this somewhere?

Should also add that I have disabled offline files that I thought that this may be the cause of the problem, but no change.

  • Unable to connect to a printer Brother MFC - 240 c to Windows 7 computer network

The computer of my network which is connected directly to the internet and my router is a computer running Windows Vista (32 bit). My computer is connected through the network to access the internet and the printer connected to the computer base. My computer was also under Vista and networking has worked well.

I installed Windows 7 (64-bit, not by choice, done automatically) on my computer and now I can't connect to the printer on the Vista machine. I can access the internet (even if it is significantly slower than when I had vista) and on basic computer file sharing, but I can not configure the printer. The printer is a Brother MFC - 240 c
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

I'm assuming you get an error indicating that the print driver for 64-bit is not installed in the Vista machine.  You can either install a 64-bit driver that has the same name as the x 86 driver on the Win7 machine printing and reattempt the connection, install the 64-bit driver that has the same name on the Vista computer (for other 64-bit machines), but it's more difficult.

Alternatively, you can set the machine to check Windows Update for a printer driver that has the same name as the 32-bit print driver.  If gpedit.mcs run for the version of Windows you have.

If there is no matching driver name, you cannot make a RPC connection, but you can create an SMB connection.  Search for Local Port.  There are many posts on this.

    Hello

    Use a 3rd party firewall?

You can ignore this question, or use Group Policy to disable the notification.

    Be logged on as ADMIN - from the desktop (WINDOWS key + D) - WINDOWS key + X - RUN - gpedit.msc

Group Policy Editor - computer - models - system - administration
Model COM Distributed - Application compatibility settings - Enabled value-> allow local

  • Copy and paste not working not not between Customer View and Mac 10.7.4

We run see 5.0 and all agents on the virtual machines are version 5.  Our Macbooks run OSX 10.7.4 and that we cannot copy text between MS Word on the VM and MS word on Mac.  I thought 1.4 was supposed to address? Our Mac clients are running 1.5.

Does anyone else have this problem?  Another post says something about a policy from view but I have seen that global policies in the console admin and nothing paste is there.  There are only like 4 options to allow/deny the functions and copy/paste is not a.  All of us are set to allow.

    Thank you

You administrator must import the PCoIP administrative model in the AD (mass changes) server or an individual virtual machine, then you can find a GPO named 'Configure the Clipboard redirection. You can define (guest host, or comment), or both. Here is a link to doc for your reference.

    Symptoms

When you try to upgrade an existing installation of the VMware View Agent to 4.5, you experience one of these errors:
    • Error 28014. Cannot close the firewall.

    • 28013 WARNING cannot open the firewall.

    • 28051 shared access internal error.

    Resolution

If you see a version earlier than 4.5 Agent and if you used a group (GPO) GPO to disable the Windows Firewall, the Setup program returns one of these errors and the upgrade is restored.
If you encounter the error 28014 or warning 28013, you must use a GPO to enable the firewall services and run Setup again to upgrade the agent.
    To change this GPO:
    1. Connect to your domain controller or workstation that allows you to manage your group policy in your environment.

    2. Click Start > run, type gpmc.msc, and then click OK. This opens the Group Policy (GPMC) Management Console.

    3. Select the policy applies to virtual desktops that are affected by the errors. Right click and choose Edit.

    4. Navigate to Computer Configuration > administrative models > network > network connections > Windows Firewall > the domain profile.

    5. The strategy Windows Firewall: protect all network connections for people with reduced mobility.

    6. Close the GPMC console and windows all associated.

    7. Log in to the virtual machine affected by upgrade errors.

    8. Click on Start > run, type gpupdate/force, and then click OK. This forces the computer to update its local and group policy

  • View 4.5 on PCoIP vs Windows 7 resolution setting tab

    Hello

I installed view 4.5 and I use Samsung NC190 PCoIP zero klient. But I have problem with Windows 7 screen resolution Layout tab.

If I connect to view vSphere client desktop I can change the display resolution. (photo Windows_Resolution_Setting_tab_over_vSphere_client.jpg)

If I connect to see Office of Samsung NC190 or customer view 4.5 PCoIP session I can't change resolution display or setting settings "make text and other items lager or smaller" (Windows_Resolution_Setting_tab_PCoIPsession_over_View_Client.jpg) in this case, I see at the top of the screen "some settings are managed by your system administrator. But I have not any witch GPO disable or refuse to change the resolution of display for the users in the domain.

    Someone give me some advice?

    Thank you very much

    Maros

    Hello

This is normal.  PCoIP automatically resizes the window to the native resolution of the display. I just went in the same process that you go through now. I don't agree with the way it works, but it is what it is. You have three options:

    (a) use the native resolution (it is for me, but many of my users are older and like to use a lower resolution to make icons, etc are larger)

    (b) take the administrative model of strategy group vdm_agent and produces a Group Policy object, which changes the 'view failover control settings' to disabled.

    (c) change the value of the "NoDispSettingsPage" from 1 to 0

These are all for windows xp, but I guess it will work even with 7.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
