  I understand that you have forgotten the administrator password for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M274n and want to reset it.  I'll be happy to help you.

  I'll message you private instructions you need to do. Note that reset will clear your wireless settings, then you may need to reconnect to your network when you have finished resetting. (It's like the printer out of box at that point).

  If you have a desktop PC, you can disconnect the power cable, open the case and remove the battery (Silver thing small round-shaped piece). then try to restart the computer, you can disable it in the first black screen with white text, it will probably give an error of the BIOS in any case. Then disconnect the power supply again and replace the battery. You need to reset the BIOS, but it should work.

  If it's a laptop is more complicated and you probably need a technician, you will need a few contacts on the motherboard to short and it's not just a deal to open a plate of control over some.

  Thanks to MikeMo to provide specific help on "Hard Reset" of this model of printer.

  After a few attempts, I learned the trick for this task.

  ATTENTION: During this process of resetting hardware you will lose all your settings of the printer (i.e. printer settings will be restored to default settings & [security] admin password is removed.

  It is and if you are looking for then go forward with following steps.

  1. turn off the printer power switch (located on the left side of the printer)

  2. when the printer is off, look at the touchscreen of this extreme left printer

  3. the extreme left of the touch screen, you will see 3 icons areas [not visible as bright] as follows:

  (a) ? -brand (located on the upper side)

  (b) >-right arrow (located in the middle)

  (c) X - (low) benchmark

  4. tap & hold (b) area - do not release the hold

  5 rocker switch switch on printer now & still hold you in the area of (b) touchscreen

  6. once the touch screen displays "Storage Init" then release the zone key (b)

  7. wait a few seconds

  Now the customer data to the printer are wiped including device security password.
