Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working

Hello

Lose my night here.

Photoshop (64-bit) was fine yesterday.  Trying to open tonight and I still freeze at startup "Initializing" or "initialization of Menus".

Running

CS4 PS Extended

Vista 64-bit

8 GB Ram

What I've done.

Cleared with alt + ctrl + shift prefs

Manually deleted the Prefs

Clear bridge Prefs

Added ' ~ ' TWAIN prefs (just in case)

Installed 11.0.1 update

Uninstalled PS

Reinstalled PS

Update reinstalled 11.0.1.

Same issue, no matter what I do.  PS 32 opens fine.  But I want my 64 return.  Completely kill my feed here.

Any idea?

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working (Windows 7, 64-bit)

I am trying to run Photoshop CS5 in 64-bit Windows 7. Everytime I open the program, I get an error saying "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working", immediately after the startup screen goes away and the main GUI opens. The only option on the error is "close the program".

I'm on a computer with a processor i7 and 12 GB of memory. I have two Nvidia GTS 250 video cards, four monitors running.

During the last day, I reformatted my computer and reinstalled Windows twice. I reinstalled the CS5 Master Suite several times that I can remember. I also downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Nvidia video card.

I keep having the same problem whenever I try to open all of the programs in the suite CS5.

The only time where as I got near the do function was immediately after installing new Nvidia drivers, before restarting my computer. I could open only once without it breaking, once I restarted my computer, Photoshop kept giving me the same error everytime I try to open it.

I don't have any other software installed on my computer. This is a new installation of Windows 7.

I was on the phone with Adobe technical support for about an hour and a half, and I still have to get one unique suggestion other than to try with my unplugged network cable installation. Other than that, they seem to be fond of the transfer me back and forth between departments (and asking me to repeat all my information every time).

As you can probably, I am very frustrated at this point and would be very happy to suggestions.

    Thank you

    Trevor

    My scenario and history:

Windows Vista Ultimate Edition and now Windows 7 Ultimate

NVidia Quadro Fx 4500 screwing 4 monitors total SLi on or off - makes no difference.  Drivers are irrelevant.

    2 x Xeon 5160 (so total 4 cores)

    24 GB RAM

    PS CS 4 or 5

    4 monitors - Yep it's the thing 4 monitor.

Fails every time that you describe.

Comment - if you remote desktop on the computer - and so, indeed, use a single monitor - PS works fine.

A WORKAROUND solution for 4 or 5 - I don't consider not that difficult because you lose some features, but it gets you 99% it and is the same workaround for CS4 or 5

    Go to: Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 bit) \Plug-ins\Extensions\ (or CS4 - according to version)

    Look for the file:

    ScriptingSupport.8li

Disable this extension by renaming the file with a tilde before the name of the file.  So:

    ~ScriptingSupport.8li

Start Photoshop - it works and is essentially functional.

The only real drawback I found is that disable this script extension means that you cannot use some of the scripts integrated under FILE - SCRIPTS - larger PIA for me to be that of the Contact Sheet Builder no longer works.  But as I now use Lightroom to create planks-contacts - this is not a big loss.  Other features script - I'm sure is applied - but not to the point I find PS unusable.

ADOBE - if you read this - it was this extesión now for the last two editions of the PS.

    Hi Craig,.

Please provide a detailed account of your question. You, the efforts are very much appreciated!

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    a. you did any important changes made to the computer just before the problem occurred?

    b. what fixit did you run, when you say "Run FIXIT"?

You have tried most of the linear troubleshooting, it can be concluded that the question could arise also following a conflict of third-party software that impede the performance of Adobe Photoshop CC. To diagnose the problem, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

It is possible that the application has not been uninstalled properly and have hampered after the new installation. I suggest to try to start the next fixit and then try to install the program Photoshop CC.

The problems that the programs cannot be installed or uninstalled

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 2:

The question could also arise due to a conflict of third-party software, so, I would be as you suggest clean boot of the system once and then try to install the program in a boot environment.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows

If the problem does not occur in the boot, you can determine which applications and services on the computer is causing this issue.

Note: See "how to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need more help, we will be happy to help you.

Since you get an 0xc0000005 error code, you can deal with some Windows system files to address faulty. A lot of Photoshop depends on the use of the existing Windows files to work. It could be that the files requiring these specific adjustments are missing or damaged. Try to run a repair of Windows system (using the SFC Scannow command) or follow the instructions here to reinstall the necessary files: How to remove and reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries. • "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working" on the new installation.

Just loaded LR v 6.0 of disk. Whenever pop, 'Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working' window and the only option is to close the program. I use Windows 10 with Intel HD graphics card. I looked at the Lightroom 6 Preferences.AGPREFS file to disable the graphics card, but the file is empty anyway. I also started the Lightroom.exe with administrator rights. I also reinstalled but I still get the same error message no matter what I do. I tried the demo version of CC of LR and Photoshop and wonder if there is some kind of conflict, although I have uninstalled these before implementing the stand-alone version. Please help as worked on it during the day.

It seems that the graphics driver is at the origin of the crash program.

    Update the graphics driver.

Any ideas of what is the problem.

Mylenium, why do you feel it is necessary to run the first time as an administrator?  You know installation failures that will leave files or registry entries with a bad permissions?  I have not heard of this behavior with new versions; Photoshop has certainly experienced feature UAC Windows for quite a long time.

Rjleys , I suggest that you try (before the opening of a picture) go into Edition - Preferences - Performance and disabling the setting of drawing OpenGL use [].   Close, and then restart Photoshop after making this change.

If this works around the problem, you must update your video drivers on the website of the manufacturer of your video card.  Maybe it's that OpenGL operations that Photoshop is making can cause an error in your drivers, resulting in a drop in demand.

  • Photoshop CS4 has stopped working

I bought CS4 of staples in 2009 to about 1300 Canadian. After the year the product has stopped working. I tried to get help, but at the moment where no one helped me in the adobe community and support always force a faq and incredibly difficult to get specific answers from the company itself compared to when I guess it was in a smaller pool of market. in any case, this turn me off products Photoshop, although I always use photoshop 7, which is quite a small version. I'm not sure atm where is my version of $ CS I think that it s in stock at my place of mother when I was younger and some of my things in another province.

    My question is?

If CS4 just something temporary, so a $1000 for a year of the value? And I can get it back?

In no case when buy CS4 made say the license would expire I expected it has perpetual product auto. ALthoguh I've ever had response that was some time ago. It's only since I'm home in art and more technical creative art that I need a better product of photoshop that can handle my pen beyond the concepts of GIMP software free someone presented to me. SO my frustration also made me probably say a 100 more people currently on my dissatisfaction of the service adobe product I bought, because he wsa heavy cost on I student at the time.

Now, I want my CS4 back. Since I got back in art.

Money, I could careless on because I don't have a lot of it, however when something angers me I either deal so I can, if nothing is settled I just let talk about bitterly. Yes, that's the problem I have, and I don't know that if the community can actually answer this question, it would seem that the navigation of the site is more like a maze again just like the other growth companies, the speed in which they used to navigate becomes crossed with not not the KISS method. It's just another complaint, so I hope that someone can send me in the right direction.

I guess the first thing would be to get the serial number of my product. Hmm.

Individual license for Creative Suite like CS4 products are perpetual and expire (with very rare exceptions, that probably doesn't apply to you you bought your copy outright). If your product has stopped working after a year, there is probably a technical cause, that is indeed frustrating, but also very probably solvable. Therefore, you can reinstall if you work with the same operating system as your copy of CS4 (Windows or Mac) and your computer meets the Photoshop system requirements. Be aware that newer operating systems may be incompatible with the CS4, which is eight years old.

You are right that to reinstall you will need your serial number. If you still have the original packaging, check the cover of drive, box or inserts. If, however, the physical media disappear into the depths of storage of your mother, you can retrieve the number under Adobe ID Code associated with your purchase if you have registered the product. Sign in to your account and check under Plans & products. If you used a different e-mail in 2009, try under that. For more information on finding your serial number, please see this help document: find the serial number of your product Adobe quickly.

Once you have your serial number, you can reinstall CS4 disc or download: Download CS4 products. If you encounter problems with the installation or the whole upward, ask a question with precision just what you install, the specifications of your computer and any errors you receive in the forum to download, installation, commissioning . Experts specialize in types of troubleshooting, you might need.

And finally, if this wall of text does not answer your question, please respond to this discussion, and we will do our best to point in the direction where you want to go.

I recently updated a m9040n HP Pavilion age of 2 years for a new installation Win7 64 Bit system with 8 GB of ram. I installed all the updates that are applicable to both MS and Adobe.

The 64-bit version of Ps was working for about a week without any significant problems, and then 2 days ago, I saw the referenced object error.

My work around was simply to launch the 32-bit version of Ps, edit if necessary file associations, and disable the Ps 64 Bit script in Adobe Bridge.

Are there significant differences between 64 Ps and Ps 32-bit?

I download the latest driver WACOM, completely uninstall the old driver and install the new driver to see if the problem persists.

Check it before you make any mods instead of the WACOM. Might be a mod that you do that is creating the problem.
