Aero works only on Vista Ultimate

Greetings-

I have a real stumper, and I'm curious to know if someone will be able to crack this particular nut.

I have a Macbook Pro (5.1 - one model unibody early in 2008 - with a 2.53 GHz CPU, 4 GB of RAM and a GeForce 9600 GT 512 MB) and the need to run a large number of programs on Windows.  No problem, I got a full copy of Vista Ultimate 64 bits of detail and run it with Boot Camp (i.e. on "bare metal", without emulation).

My problem: Aero does not work.  It isn't even an option anywhere.  I want to enjoy the pleasure of the eyes, but I can't do it - and I'm lost as to what could be the issue.  Well, to tell you the truth, I'll be pleasantly surprised if I can get a solution here.

I did the following:
-Run the last Vista performance index.  My graphics score is 5.4.  Unable to enable Aero.
-Make sure that I am running in at least 32-bit color.  Yes.  Always impossible to activate Aero.
-Is - my refrsh of moniot above 10 Hz?  Yes.  Always impossible to activate Aero.
-Perform all updates, including SP1.  Always impossible to activate Aero.
-Ensure the Desktop Window Manager service is configured to start automatically, and that it has launched and running.  Always impossible to activate Aero.
-Ensure the themes service is configured to start automatically, and that it has launched and running.  Always impossible to activate Aero.
-Run dxdiag in 32-bit and 64-bit modes.  No problem not reported.  Always impossible to activate Aero.
-Run a command as administrator prompt sfc/scannow.  No problem identified.  Always impossible to activate Aero.  -Try the graphics driver to Boot Camp and the latest driver from NVIDIA.  Always impossible to activate Aero.
-Try another user.  Always impossible to activate Aero.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

3. find the updated drivers and install them or re - install the latest using these methods.

It's my generic how updates of appropriate driver: (drivers of display/video for your case.)

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system. For
each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver, description,.
version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - Device Manager - Display Adapter - note the brand and complete model of your
video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this
cannot do anything as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with their
own the software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and then of the manufacturer of the device
(Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and software)
updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - reset after each
installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This
because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a
pilot - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver in the Windows updates,
This leaves ONE of Windows updates, but it will not install the drivers who are generally older and cause
questions. If updates offers a new driver and then hide it (right click on it) and then go look for new ones
manually if you wish.

  • THE CALICO CAT WINDOWS DESKTOP BACKROUND WILL BE WORK ON A VISTA ULTIMATE 32-BIT WINDOWS AND ANY SERVICE PACKS DELL INSPIRON 531?

I have a Dell Inspiron 531 in the House. It's Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit without service pack. Can I download wallpaper cat Calico of Windows (r) and set it as background?

    Sincerely,.

    Numbuh3wearsabutterflycoutume

PS I went on the site of Microsoft Windows to download, but I cancelled.

Although the calico at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/personalize/wallpaper-desktop-background cat is technically for Windows7, I don't see that this will not work on your system (since it is, after all, just an image).  Go ahead and try it.  I don't think that you will have problems with the issue of the service pack with just a background image.  If it does not or you cannot configure it to your liking, then maybe it does not match with the theme you are using (but which is not likely or must have its size adjusted before putting the context).  But I suspect that it will work fine.

I hope this helps (and BTW, I LOVE the photo since I am a person cat myself).

I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite Pro P100 pspa4 with Vista installed.

But absolutely nothing happens when I insert an SD card.

I have a Mass Storage Controller not properly installed and I think that's the reason why, but I can t find any drivers for it.

    On XP, everything works fine.
Anyone know where to find the drivers for that?
On the Vista from Toshiba driver page I can only find drivers SD utilities.

    Thank you

    Hello

On the European driver Toshiba page, you will find the Flash Media Driver for Texas Instruments. This is the driver for the Bridge Media Slot. This slot allows you to insert an SD card, Memory Stick (Pro) or xD picture cards.

  • Windows Update service works only on Vista Home Premium 64 SP2

I am running Windows Vista 64 Home Premium SP2 on an Acer Aspire 6930 with 4 GB of Ram and IE version 9.0.8112.16421.  When I try to update windows, he said the service is not running, and maybe I need to restart my computer.  I rebooted and got the same result.  I checked the services and update service and BITS show to run normally.  The laptop was turned off and not connected to the internet for more than a year.  Can someone help me with this problem?

    Hello

Follow these steps to clear the software distribution folder.

    1. click on start and run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

Note on a Windows Vista computer, click Start, type services.msc in the search box, click services.msc and then click Run as administrator.

    2. in the Services (Local) pane, click Automatic updates and then click on stop.

    3. reduce the Services (local) window.

    4. Select all the contents of the Windows distribution folder, and then delete them.

Note by default, the Windows distribution folder is located in the folder drive: \Windows\SoftwareDistribution. In this place, the drive is a placeholder for the drive where Windows is installed.

    5. make sure that the Windows distribution folder is empty, and then enlarge the Services (local) window.

  • Satellite A200: After Vista Ultimate upgrade Chicony webcam does not work

    Hello

I hope someone can help me. For 3 weeks, I have buy the Toshiba A200 with Windows Vista Home Premium and very good built-in Webcam function. I have no problem.

Yesterday I did an upgrade to Windows Vista Edition full and now the Webcam does not work.
Every time when I want to launch the following software message come «Please activate the webcam»

In the it´s control panel that wrote this function of Doesna´t of hardware because the software isn't fair. But I have the right software. I have try the original software on me the hard drive and, of course, I do a download from Toshiba and I try this.
But I still got the same message.

    Please help me.

    Hello

I m not an A200 owner and, therefore, I can not say much about this webcam tool, but to my eyes the Chicony webcam software should work with Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, because this version is almost the same as Windows Vista Home Premium. The ultimate version supports more features like Home Premium, but the software is running and must be compatible with both versions of Vista.

How did you install Vista Ultimate? You perform a new installation of the OS, or you upgrade only the Home Premium-> Ultimate?

Anyway, currently version 1.0 of the Chicony camera software is available on the Toshiba page.
You may need to wait until the new update has been published.

  • Cannot upgrade Windows Vista Ultimate Edition after the HD upgrade

I have an ASUS computer which is about five years old and works fine. It runs only Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit SP1.
The HD has been giving signs which is failing. I bought a new HD and copied the old HD to the biggest news. Everything seems to work fine until I tried to run Windows Update. It does not allow me to update and gives the 8024A 000 error code every time I try to run it. I called ASUS for help and they said
    to contact me Microsoft.

    Thank you

    Harold

I found the solution to this problem. I went to another Windows help forum. It is to reset the Windows Update program. I tried the one here on the Microsoft site, and it did not work. But I tried this one http://wind8apps.com/windows-update-error-code-8024a000/ and the fist solution worked like a charm. He fixed the update and install issues with Powershell 2.0. After that and a certain number of updates, it's updated, Windows Update will update to the latest version. After this release he went and found many updates, I had to install. So be patient, you're in for a little wait.

  • Impossible to upgrade to windows vista ultimate from vista home Basic using the upgrade disc

I bought a disc "to upgrade use only" Windows Vista Ultimate at my University and tried to upgrade my current version of Windows (Vista Home Basic).

At the stage where I had to select the 'Upgrade' or 'Custom' installation option, I noticed that the interface was telling me, 'Upgrade Disabled"with a message that has been along the line"this version of windows is already installed and cannot be upgraded."
I know that the upgrade disc was probably intended for the upgrade from an earlier version of Windows like XP, but I assumed that because Microsoft also sells discs "Anytime Upgrade" to do exactly what I'm trying to accomplish this I would have had no problem.
For any help or suggestion that contact would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    It's all about Service Pack.
We don't know what you have.

If Service Packs came pre-installed on the operating system, there is no way to uninstall them.
You will need to swap the disk to upgrade to a later version that includes the missing Service Pack.

In this case, your upgrade disk has NO Service Pack installed with it.

Take it back to the University, if you cannot uninstall SP1 operating system.

  • Can I do a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on Vista Ultimate 32-bit upgrade. Installation file will not work. The error is described below.

The XPS 730 with Intel Q9450 computer yourself running Windows 7 64 bit? The details of performance show that it is capable of 64-bit. When I try to install Windows 7 pro 64-bit upgrade, the installer will not work. I get an error that reads:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows that you are running.

I'm currently running Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Everything that I read on Microsoft and elsewhere says that you can go from Vista 32 bit to an operating system Windows 7 64-bit as long as you do the clean install. I'm that far away since I can't even run the installation.
Maybe nobody knows what could be the problem?

    Hi Hal K,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

If you are currently running a 32-bit version of Windows, you can only perform an upgrade to another 32-bit version of Windows. Similarly, if you run a 64-bit version of Windows, you can perform an upgrade to another 64-bit Windows version.

If you want to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows, and vice versa, you will need to back up your files and then perform a custom of the version of Windows you want to install installation.
