After downloading recently some 60 more Windows updates that me seems to be stuck in an infinite loop restart your computer.

Download the historical State successful but may need to restart.   Several attempts to restart always end with reboot so unable to see if other updates are available.

Windows Update does not work

This is a very common problem lately.

Download and run the appropriate version for your system from the system update readiness tool.  System 32-bit X 86 must https://support.Microsoft.com/en-ca/KB/947821.  System 64-bit X 64.

As a general rule, the following rather simple and fast process should be.

http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows8_1-update/Windows-Update-problem-error-code-80080008/de8114b5-1487-4B31-9b28-f11974718df1?auth=1  This thread has essentially lists a series of commands that I found generally fixed WU.

Start, all programs, accessories, right-click on command prompt, select run as administrator, OK.  Type the following in the black box:

  1. net stop wuauserv
  2. net stop cryptSvc
  3. net stop bits
  4. net stop msiserver
  5. Ren SoftwareDistribution.old C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
  6. Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
  7. net start wuauserv
  8. net start cryptSvc
  9. net start bits
  10. net start msiserver
  11. pause
  12. Output

Services of type in the text box above the start planet.  Find each of the following items and make sure they are set to automatic: Intelligent Transfer in the background, cryptographic, Windows Installer, Windows Update services.  Double-click on each item and choose automatic.

Now restart Windows Update.  Do NOT restart Windows.   Be very, very sick, it will probably take a while.

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

    2. which antivirus app do you use?

I suggest you try these methods and check.

  • "Configuration of the Windows updates failed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer"error when you try to install Windows updates

    Original title: problems with updates

I tried to install windows updates since the store won't let me update to 8.1 otherwise, but I've been miserably lacking 4 days in a row now. Commissioning Windows Update in Control Panel or the charm of parameters found 133 available updates and informs me that they will install automatically. If I then try to install progress remains at "downloading 0 KB", after a while updates are shown as installation. When the installation is completed I'm prompted to restart my pc. After the reboot if I'm greeted by the "Failure configuring Windows updates" screen for about an hour, then I'm able to reconnect to the desktop computer. I've been searching the forums for similar problems looking for an answer and trying different solutions, such as:

Stop the update service then renaming or deleting the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. No positive results on this one.

Using SFC and DISM, first came up with my system is clean, the second did find and fix corrupt elements of store, but the problem persists.

Download the tool for troubleshooting Windows Update from Microsoft page, who reported finding and repairing problens with service, but again without success.

Reduce the installed updates at a time, in the instance that Windows can't handle most of the many updates at the same time. I tried this and it seemed to go well, but a strange point of interest that is so annoying is that several edits I checked are installing somehow, even if it is the only example that shows the number of updates being installed before restarting. Yet I always comes to the same conclusion. Failure of Windows updates the screen. What should I do?

    Hello

Please update us with the State of the question. We apologize for the delay in responding

    1. You have a disk to install for Windows 8?
    2. Can you please explain what did you mean by update failed?
    3. Have you an error message when the update failed?

I propose to perform the refresh once more using the Installation of Windows 8 disc, but before to perform updating please follow the procedure below

    Step 1: Repair of drive

One of the best ways that you can check the alteration in the hard is to run a check disk on this subject. Please follow the steps below to repair the disk using the disk check.

    1. Open This PC by hitting on any fly in the Dashboard screen, quilting Search (or if you use a mouse, pointing to the top right of the screen, move the mouse down and then clicking search), recording this PC in the search box, and then tapping or clicking on This PC.
    2. Press on and hold or click the drive that you want to repairand then tap or click Properties.
    3. Tap or click the Tools tab, and then, under error-checking, tap or click check.   You may be prompted for an administrator password or to confirm your choice.
    4. Follow the instructions. You may have to restart your PC after that error checking is complete.

Important: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

Step 2: command tool (DISM) deployment image Service and management.

By running this command, we can retrieve or modify information in an image. To run the DISM command, please follow the steps below:

    1. Go to the Windows Start menu.
    2. Type cmd on the keyboard.
    3. Right-click on the program from the command prompt and choose Run as administrator.
    4. The command prompt dialog box.
    5. Type the command Dism.exe / online/cleanup-image/Restore health and press ENTER.
    6. Wait for the command to run which can take about 30 minutes.
    7. After running the command, please try to make the backup of the system.

  • Message loop "the configuration of the Windows updates failed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer. »

I had to edit this post, because I was the lack of information on my problem...

    Well that's even once...

I decided to give maintenance to my laptop then I formatted last night then in the morning, I started today with the updates of windows (was the first thing I did, so I haven't installed programs). It started to download as 110 updates, when you're done, asked me to restart, and I did. As at other times, it configures the first 30% before restarting, and when it restarts then got stuck in the message of "Configuration of the Windows updates... failure. It takes like 20-30 minutes to restart, and when he does, still happens once, I mean the restart and the same message. So I can not connect or anything.

    Some features:
    Laptop: Toshiba Qosmio x 875
    Processor: Intel core i7-3630QM CPU 2 .40GHz

    System: Windows 8 64-bit
    GPU: Nvidia GTX 670M / 3GB
2 500 GB HARD drive, don't know the model or brand
I have not yet installed antivirus, in fact I uninstalled Norton to install Kaspersky later, but I'm stuck with the real problem.
I bought this laptop as 14 months ago, is the first time the problem appears.

I have not tried certain steps of the links because some of them need to connect.

Perform a restore of the system (Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista)

  • Windows Update problem! Now it is stuck in a reboot loop!

I have Windows Vista on a Dell Latitude D620. Today I did a
Download of updates and it went through the shutdown procedure and restart the computer. Now it is stuck on "Configuring Updates - part 3 of 3 0 0% complete.". There is disk activity, then it restarts, only to return to the exact same page.

I tried every safe mode, last known good config, etc., but as soon as it starts it goes to this screen. I can't get to a prompt... nada... It comes
driving me crazy. Even the guy I talked to at Dell do not know which increased or how to fix it.

    Help, please?

    Restore point:

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:

As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.

As your falls into the above category: download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.

Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html

It's a very good Vista repair disc.

You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

There is not a disk of resettlement.

And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

    Hello.

First of all, I read this page - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358

It says this - "Note if this problem occurs, it may take 30 minutes to undo changes, and then the system will display the login screen Windows.»

But this is not true for me, I have nowhere near the logon screen. Earlier the PC rebooted, but is IMMEDIATELY returned to the exact same failure screen. There is a line.

    A few notes:

    (1) it is a G46VW mobile computer ASUS 'Republic of gamers ". I had 3 days. There is no DVD drive so I can't use any kind of boot disk.

    (2) I have no attached removable media.

    (4) all that happens is that I see the ASUS logo, then this screen failure immediately.

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.

  • Vista & check for box Windows Update doesn't seem to work

Hello, (Specs: Microcomputer HP/Compaq with Vista Home Premium, SP2)

The Windows Update control box seems to go nowhere.  Keeps audit and some never... no results.  I run FIX - IT, and he did of bugs.  Then restart and try again CheckUpdates.  Same thing.  And also, the "most recent search for updates" and "updates have been installed" two say '' never. ''  If I seem to have lost everything that was installed or checked in the recent past.

FIX - IT has deleted the ones?

I ran also malaware program and the program McAfee (that comes with my subscription to AOL) and clean disk.  Then tried the FIX - IT and re-run check updates.  I have received many downloaded and installed a few of them because so many updates were available at that time.  I'm going to install one or more other, but who has not installed.  Just kept running in mode installation, running and running, nothing happens.  I tried to re-boot, FIX - it again...   So now I'm back on the State 'never '.  Updates Windows to check once more runs from nowhere for the last 4 hours.

(I even tried before execution with Firewall disabled, just to see what would happen.  I turned back.)

I noticed that the computer activity light is very minimal (1 flashes every 10 seconds approximately) that check the update is running.  That the light should be blinking a lot?

I also do not know what to do at this point.  The update service is not running.

    Thank you.

updated-what precedes has worked once for a small set of downloads. (I had changed and reduced the amount of updates installed to shorten the waiting time for results)  When I went to install several updates, it did not.  I ran the Fix - It again and lost all facilities.  After a few attempts, Fix - It is not helping.

I cleaned the computer - clean disk, then my regular analysis of McAfee, then tried Malawarebytes program (nothing was found by any program scans, fyi) and then defragment the drive.

After that, several Windows updates appeared.  I installed Windows, not Microsoft software updates only those related to programming (I think that's what I did.)

And then install it worked and have stayed.  I'll check for another batch of updates installed as I imagine that there must be more, because I lost all the others who were there before the Fix - It.

I don't really know what the sequence preceding really helped and enabled the victory. Update service works.  But it's good for now.

    Best of all.
