After restoring to a new drive, I need to create a recovery partition?

I have successfully restored a backup time machine on a new drive.  The recovery of the old system drive partition is also got copied over, or I have to manually re-create on the new drive?

I've got Yosemite, mid 2011 iMac, and the new drive is an SSD.

I got my answer: a restore partition is also created.

To see this, you must first activate the debug mode in disk utility:

http://Macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/Qt/enable-disk-utilitys-Debug-menu.htm

Then, open utility disk, go to 'debug'-> 'display each partition '.

Under the new drive, you will see the initially hidden recovery partition.

    Hello

You should definetely create a set of recovery media - this is your copy of the operating system.  An example of when you might need, it would be if you had to replace the hard drive - details on the creation of this can be found on the next document in HP.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03481733

About McAfee, you must uninstall that first before trying to install Norton - you can do this in the usual way by opening the Control Panel, open programs and features, right click at the entrance of McAfee and select uninstall.  When the process is complete, restart the computer before installing Norton.

  • Create a recovery partition. How? I lost my hard drive

Hello.. I am a new user, so please be patient... The drive in my computer hp pavilion dv5-1199ew laptop has been damaged. How to create a recovery on the new disk partition? Maybe I have to buy a new operating system? greetings. Thank you!

    Hello

Unless you created your set of recovery DVDs you will need to order a replacement set of recovery disks using the link below - the use of these will reinstall the operating system on your new hard drive, install all of the original software your laptop came with and will re-create the Partition D of recovery on the new drive...

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

  • HP Envy 15t: 8.1 Windows Installer Clean in the hard drive model GPT without losing the RECOVERY partition

Always I try to format my windows partition, I get the following error:

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is the GPT partition style.

So I'd like a clean install of Windows 8.1 without changing the style of hard drive or in bulk my RECOVERY partition.

OBS.: I just can I perform boot after you disable UEFI and Secure Boot.

    @lucasc ,

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forums.  You will not be able to do it without damaging the recovery partition.  If you want to do a fresh install on your system, use the system recovery.

If this isn't the case, you will install the operating system of your choice.  So before you send that the laptop came with the operating system, and you supported drivers for the operating system you want to install.

If this isn't the case, you will not be able to find in driver support and you end up with hardware problems.  The drivers are built for laptop based on the OS that it was released with and they are owners.

I hope this helps.  Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

  • need to create the recovery disk

I went in circles. Please, I appreciate all the helpful answers, but please don't refer me to other articles, etc. I just want to know what to do. I need not long-term articles that complicate things. Sorry, but I'm frustrated that MS makes it so difficult to implement the basic things.

I have an Asus EeePC with Win 7 starter. In fact, I have two of them, me and my mother.  I am them is getting ready to sell and I want to create a system image or download win 7 iso. I intend to create a recovery on USB tool but I could use a disc. But I can't get the store to check my product key. It's my computer, never possessed by someone else... so I thought ok, I'm going to create a system image, but it would take half a dozen CD (it does not recognize the USB when you create a system image apparently).

It shouldn't be this hard. I want to erase the disc completely and reinstall win 7. I can't get it all put in place. Repeat the process with the second Eee PC with its product code.

Just tell me in steps what to do... How can I get the iso if it does not recognize my key?

I get them ready to sell.

I want to create a system image

    or DOWNLOAD Windows 7 iso.

I intend to create a recovery on USB tool but I could use a disc.

-> If you want to sell, you need the image to?

-> Why download an ISO of Windows 7?

-> Why create a recovery tool?

When people sell a machine they restore it to "factory condition". The process of launching a 'Factory Restore' is different from one machine to the other. With machines Asus you usually type F9 at startup, but you might need to confirm this on the Asus web page.

  • Need help with the recovery partition/create recovery media

HI - first thing I did when I got my thinkpad is a clean install of w7, but then I thought about it and restored the recovery partition, conviniently located at the end of the training, in order to create a backup dvd factory. Thing is, when I click the autorun (lenovoqdrive.exe) and select 'create recovery media', I get an error stating that "program files (x 86) \lenovo\factory recovery\recovburncd.exe" is missing... obviously since the operating system partition was crushed.

I tried RnR and looked on the software + drivers page and nothing happens as "... \lenovo\factory recovery\" when it is installed. So, where can I download the program that creates the recovery discs?

(I know possible to restore the operating system of the *.wim file but I want to leave that as a last resort).

Okay here's what I did to who mightve had the same question: as mentioned earlier, I have restored the partition Q with (your favorite free partition recovery tool), then booted from a usb winpe (with imagex) generated from victory aik (free).

first I deleted (from winpe boot usb) windoze partition with diskpart and recreated the 2 partitions S & C (and Q is on the left) by hand according to 'recovery.ini' found on q. then I restored S and C 'sdrivebackup.wim' and 'cdrivebackup.wim', respectively, using imagex.exe, which is actually two one liners.

Finally, I tried the bcd to fixation by hand according to "bcdinfo.txt", also found on Q, but that did not really work... so I just jumped into a bootable win7 USB and he rewrote the bcd by itself (I assume). the last step has been fixing the mbr by using /fixmbr and /fixboot bootrec.exe.

ATM I started just and afaict it behaves exactly like the first start-up of the plant. see you soon

  • Satellite M45 - does not start after restoration on the new HARD drive

I installed a new PATA 250 GB HDD on my pc. The BIOS is configured to boot from CD/DVD. Toshiba Recovery disk started cold, start follow-up statement to load a new system on the HARD drive. He made a (quick) format on the HARD drive, spent 50 minutes, copy the files from the CD to the new HARD drive. Followed the instructions to remove the CD and reboot the pc. Did. I get the Toshiba homepage for 2-3 seconds, and then I get a white screen with a white block cursor in the upper corner of the LH of the screen. Looks like it does not find the block on the HARD disk?
The procedure of collection 3 times with the same results. Checked the BIOS to check that it is configured to boot from the HARD disk after installation.

The recovery CD is blank. Never used because I bought the PC (3.5 years). Put the new HARD drive in a USB enclosure and formatted with Windows, tried again with the same result? Put the old HDD, PC starts and works very well. Put the live CD Knoppix and boot from that, works very well. See the new HARD drive.

Thus, any suggestions are appreciated. The recovery CD Toshiba is defective? In any case to test?

    Thank you

    Hello

Sounds like a problem with the recovery disk or the new HARD disk if your computer starts up fine with the old HARD drive...

In your case before you start a lengthy discussion, you should try a Microsoft Windows disk to install Windows. If he work it seems that only the recovery disk is defective.

Otherwise, the HARD disk must be defective. Maybe a bad sector or something else

  • Some iPhone apps don't transfer after restoration at the new iPhone SE

I got my iPhone SE today and made a backup of my 5s iPhone and when I restored the new SE from iTunes a lot of my applications didn't transfer via. Another strange thing is that a few apps is not found in the app store now even if I used them on my 5s.

Some of the applications are for labour (US Army) in order to get them back would be great.

iTunes does not transfer apps from your iPhone to your computer as a result of the thinning of the app. This feature, introduced with iOS 9, allows an application to take less space on your phone by downloading only what is needed for a specific model and not the entire application. To restore a new backup of the old phone, you need to have downloaded them to iTunes on your computer or on your new phone already if you want on your new phone. Unfortunately, applications that can be found is no longer on the app store is no longer available.

  • Hard disk drive bad, need to use e-recovery in new HD

They gave me a laptop aspire v5 - 122p and the ALT + F12 for internal recovery does not work. The hard drive and the partition seems corrupt and damaged. Windows 8, try to start, but a message said: there was something wrong and that he will try hard to adapt but it restarts and do the same thing in a loop. I scanned the hard drive with an application which allow me to run it from a bootable usb flash drive. The hard drive came with errors in the sector.

If I install a new hard drive, I can order an erecovery disk and install all or what I need to do something special? I read somewhere that own hard discs must be prepared initially with another set of tools provided by Acer. The tools provided in the link are in a named ISO "Format CD".

Yep, it's possible and an unallocated HARD disk is preferable in some cases.

Cannot connect to the Internet, and then try to run upward with the keys Option and command R keys. If the model of the computer or firmware is too old to do this, you need the original computer disks or a Mac OS X 10.6.3 retail DVD; retail DVD cannot start a model of MacBook Pro 2010 or later.

  • Partition the new drive and put windows on a small partition, how can I "move it".

Hard drive crashed and had to get a new.  We partitioned the 500 Gig into 5 segments C:.5 Gig F:10 Gig G:H: I: integer 100 Gig... We used the production disks for the computer will... After a window few months started slow like a turtle, and then began there was not enough space on the drive to work. Other readers are empty or almost empty.  I am hoping there is a simple way to move everything to another drive with more space or something.  I just drag and start again, but I have programs that I also installed that I have since lost the discs too much that I don't want to lose.

Thanks for the info... uh do often criticize people on this site? I'm just a question because I am very novice in computer technology and I trust often more educated people. But I don't like to be belittled because I thought it was one person and another don't think it's a good idea. Worried if I should keep coming back here to get help or not.

  • Need help on the recovery Partition

    Caveat!
This area contains your hard drive contains the hard disk to perform a system restore

When I double click on my hard disc, it appears such intruction on my screen, may I know what is the system recovery means and how to use it?

    * Btw, I intend to reformat my netbook, however is this system recovery can help me as soon as possible restore settings and things? **

Any help and suggestions is welcomed and appreciated, thx ~

    Hello

The D Partition on the hard disk contains your recovered files that allows you to perform a system recovery using the hard disk instead of using your recovery DVDs.

To use this option, close the notebook, then press the rest away to f11 as soon as you press the power button to start the Recovery Manager and begin the process of reinstalling the operating system.

It is a destructive process, so make sure you back up all your personal files etc. before using it.

  • Need instructions on how to use the recovery Partition to restore my OS to its original state.

I need to use the recovery partition to restore my OS to its original state.  I'm getting crashes (invaded by "dumprep.exe" CPU cycles) and an occasional BSOD.

What brand is your computer?  Some computer manufacturers, including Dell and HP, have a recovery partition on the hard drive of the new computers.  By pressing a special key combination when the computer starts, you can use the recovery partition to restore the computer to the way it was when it was new.  Looking for a message about the recovery options on the first screen that appears.
