After the black and White Conversion, I can still see the color

LR3.4.1 on a desktop Windows XP SP3.  I opened a raw file in LR, click on change in Silver Efex Pro 2, that the plugin opens and I set the resultant b & w image and save it.  She then appears in LR with the name of the original file and annex suffix Edit-TIFF.  However, instead of appearing in b & w, it appears in color.  I then right-click on that image and select open in Windows Explorer.  I've then right click on the file and select Preview and it appears in the Windows Viewer in b & w.

So why can't display it in LR in b & W?

What you see in the library is the preview, which was probably created during the import.  What you visualize in develop is rendered according to the current image data.  Since you changed the image after importing data, the preview of the library has not changed.  Just that the preview is again (there are several ways to do it, but selecting it and using the menu option are the simplest).

  • Always the color in the photos after the black and white conversion

    Hello

I have a very strange problem. After the conversion to black and white photos in Lightroom (no matter if I chose B & W in the basic menu, set the saturation to 0, the HSL value 0 saturation sliders or choose a B & W preset) my photos have still a few colors in them. Before and after have exported them.

The pictures are taken in RAW with a 550 d or a RX100. Same results for all. I use Lightroom 4.3.

I searched a lot on google and also here in the forum and have not found anything.

    Any ideas?

    Kind regards

If you have Lr and PS side by side they appear identical. If they are not something certainly will not, and I agree with ssprengel that it's most likely a monitor profile bad that one of them is choking on.

If you don't calibrate and profile the monitor yourself (what is the right way to do it), the safest bet is always to use sRGB (or if you have a wide range of monitor the Adobe RGB, but you do not have). > This thread contains a description of how you do it.

    ---

    Some information:

Monitor profiles contain two parts. One, quite simply, white fixed point, correct the response curve and remove color casts. It is loaded into the video card (or the screen itself) and affects all across the system. This is the part of the calibration.

The second part is the profile itself, which is more complex. It is, in short, a complete description of the features of monitor in three-dimensional space color. Among other things, it defines exactly the position of the three primaries. It takes the calibration in the image, so in other words it is a description of the screen in its calibrated State. But only color management applications to read the monitor profile and debug to display accordingly. Other applications just ignore it and send the numbers directly through.

This second part, the profile itself, is what often causes problems because many profiles are not properly written. Manufacturers of monitor (and portable) are known for this. You would think if he succeeds, but it's not fair.

To compound things, these bad profiles are often pushed through Windows Update, so that people don't even know they are being installed.

  • Is there a convenient way to selectively apply the black and White Conversion?

First of all, I know how to use the black and white adjustment layer and I am familiar with masking. What I want to do, it's something more complicated.

When I convert a picture n & B, I often find that there are areas of the image that would benefit from a slightly different treatment than the rest. For example, I have a lot of foliage that I want to run by using the yellow and green Sliders, but maybe there's Green House which I want to clear up instead. Using a black and white layer adjustment I can't make this kind of decision as it effects the entire image. And other layers B & W setting on one has no effect because it has already been converted.

My first thought was to use two different adjustment layers, one with a mask reversed on the other, but not only is it very clumsy (what happens when you need more of two sets of adjustments, but it always seems to be an area left along the border of the selected areas / unselected masks where some remnants of color.)

Use B & W adjustment layer and mask areas that you want to assign. Set the blending mode to luminosity. then you can put a final above all convert to the true B & W.

  • I am trying to print the color of the CS6 PS and it comes out black and white. How can I fix it?

All other Adobe applications print correctly.

Check your settings in the printer driver dialog box.

If you send a color image on a color printer, Photoshop sends color.

The operating system or the printer driver are the only things that could change the image in black and white.

  • 5.5 to 7 screens black and white conversion

    Hello community,

I just upgraded to 7 Captivate of Captivate 5.5. I have a simulation project that has been saved in Captivate 5.5. However, now when I play it in version 7, some of the slides appeared black. I've re-edited and those who went away, but now some of the slides deep into the project (after 100 slide) are completely hidden except for calls. Republication does nothing.

It's frustrating. I have no choice but to re - save these slides?

If you keep the quality of slides, you must check the quality of the slide. You can substitute the quality of the slide by unchecking this option keep and you have selected above.

If this does not work, try to uncheck all the compression options.

  • I can't seem to change the black and white on my Lexmark printer.

At the same time, I changed my printer set default print black and white.  Then I would just change color when I need it to be.  Then I noticed that the check box for printing black and white has been checked and gray, so I couldn't change it.  I thought it was because I was really low on my color.  I now have a new color in this cartridge, but still it won't let me uncheck the box in black and white.  I tried to restart my computer but no change.  Help, please.

    I have a Lexmark 7600 series.

Check the settings of the printer itself to verify that it is not changed and there only in black and white (if there are all these settings on the printer)-which would probably override the settings on your computer.  BTW, what is the exact printer?  This is it: http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=answers&startover=y&question=lexmark+7600+series&locale=en&productCode=LEXMARK_X7675&segment=SUPPORT&userlocale=EN_US#1?  If not, what is it?

You can get in trouble with your device drivers, firmware and/or software.  Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get the drivers (and you shouldget them to at least the printer (http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=content&productCode=LEXMARK_X7675&actp=PRODUCT&id=DR11032&segment=SUPPORT&userlocale=EN_US&locale=en (if I was just on the printer above and you are using 32-bit Vista) and all you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem)) leave the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html. You can also try the Driver Verifier Manager to see if you can identify the driver or the responsible device (assuming that it is the cause):http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244617.

Also, check the color cartridge belt moves freely and not get stuck on one side or the other - if the belt does not move, the printer can turn off the option.

Remove the printer from the computer (I do not mean the drivers or software - I mean the configuration in the control panel).  Create a new printer in the start menu / control panel / printers section. Click on add a printer and start from scratch.  Then see if the new connection/configuration of printer works better than the old.

If this does not work, then contact Support technique Lexmarkhttp://www1.lexmark.com/content/en_us/about_us/contact_us.shtml and see if they can help you because I don't think it would be a problem of Vista if you have reinstalled everything.  It may be a problem with the installation but it can also be a hardware problem - so be it, they should be able to help.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • How to determine the real colors in a black and white photo?

I don't know if I'm in the right section, but I wonder if it is possible to use an Adobe program to restore real colors in a black and white photo? I want to add color by imagining or guess; I need determine the real colors. This may not even be possible, but if this is the case, please tell me what I can use.

    Thank you.

That's where the art comes into play when they colorize old movies.

A lady wearing a pretty dress: is it greeen or purple?  It seems gray.

A baby comes home from the new baby clothes cute hospital: pink or blue?  They have light gray air.

It's a nice tie school the guys to wear: use the colors wrong on the bands, and it is in a different school.  But they are nothing more than various shades of gray.

If there is one thing missing in a B & W photograph, every vestige of the color information.   All you have is gray.   You may need TO determine the real colors, but without a color photo to use as a reference image, you are out of luck.

  • Lightroom black and white to color

When I download my pictures from my camera to lightroom 2.2 it takes pictures that I shot in black and white and converts them into color t-anyone knows if there is a setting or a way to avoid this?

    Hi Andrew

I'm assuming that you are shooting in RAW. If you take photos in JPG format, you will get the black and white photos. The reason why you see a black and white in reading on the camera must be because the camera shows a preview in black and white.

Fortunately for you, RAW capture red, green and blue and combines them into a picture, your photo. If the RAW converter in lightroom necessarily combines the components, which makes a color image.

It's a good thing. RAW images capture as much as possible, if you have a lot of information and details for a shot as possible.

Black and white conversion in lightroom allows you to play with colours by photos. If she has imported black and white you would have lost so much information.

What if you came home for a shoot and directed a shot could have been great in color, or you rushed to film a sunset forgetting that the setting was on black and white...

To make the lightroom import photos in black and white, you will have to do a develop preset.

more simple way, forgive me if I'm teaching to suck you eggs.

    1. open lightroom

    2 goto development

    3. click on shades of gray in base salary

    4. right click on the thumbnail on the bottom which is now black and white go gold the PRESETs on the left of the screen by opening the Panel if ifs not here and click on the +.

    5. enter a name of the preset - import IE black and white

    6. Select Auto Grayscale Mix

    7. click on create

    1 preselection made

    To import

    1. click on library

    2. click on file and import - from the disk, the system...

    3. Select the files you want to import as a black and white, check them while they are selected

    go to the development parameters

has chosen the basic settings and

According to the information to apply develop settings and select from the drop-down list select import in black and white

    and then import it.

The pictures you have selected then will be black and white.

It will work - you may need to remember which photos were black and white as thumbnails in the import dialoge may not be black and white.

I'm not black and white I want to play with the color that I made in black and white.

Mode shooting black and white means that you can NEVER have a color version of the photo, so you may lose is a beautiful photo of your bet.

As you use Lightroom, you're messing around with the images, so shoot color, and then click Grayscale and play them with the mixture of shades of gray, you'll have a lot more fun.

But who is mentioned above process will bring your black and white photos.

    Hope that helps you

(I still shoot color and convert every time - even if jpeg)

  • Sort of printing black and white only when magenta cartridge is empty?

We have a HP Office Jet Pro 8500 a. computer running Windows Vista.

The Magenta cartridge is currently empty, and we need to print an urgent document before we will be able to get a new cartridge.

While trying to print a black and white document only, the following error has occurred:

    Exhausted ink cartridges

    HP 940 Magenta

The cartridges listed above must be replaced to resume printing.

HP recommends that you do not remove an ink cartridge until a replacement is ready to install.

Specified in printing dialog windows that we want only black and white, but it is still received this error message.

Is it possible to adjust the printer settings to specify explicitly that you want to use black ink?

Thanks for any help you can give.

This printer takes individual ink cartridges (IIC), and this ink delivery system requires that all cartridges to be installed for the printer to work. You can set the printer to "Using black ink only", but that must be done before a cartridge is exhausted, that the printer inks for other uses in fairest impression. It also uses the ink for the maintenance of the print heads. Here a link to a document that turns to explain various ways that ink is used in a printer beyond just printing.

  • HP 4520 Envy: Envy 4520 only printing in black and white

Whenever I try to print a PDF online or a document of microsoft word or powerpoint ect., it prints in black and white. I did a test of color of the printer and align the cartridges and everything went well. The properties are not set to print in grayscale. I have no idea how to solve this problem.

    Hello @BlueOlive, greetings!

Thank you for joining the HP support forums, I would like to help

I understand that your printer prints in black and white only, even if you can make a color copy.

According to me, the question is in the print settings itself. Please follow the steps and check mentioned below:

    • Go to control panel - devices and printers - give Envy 4520 right-click and select Printing Preferences.
    • In the pop-up window, click on the 'Advanced' button - check for printing in grayscale option. Make sure it is turned off.
    • Also once you try to print a document please go to properties of the printer to make sure it is not set in the option "print in grayscale".

If the steps above has not resolved the problem, it could be a problem with the printer drivers. In this case, we might need to uninstall the drivers and re - install the same. You can visit http://hp.care/2bYZled to download the drivers.

Let me know how it goes!

    See you soon
