After the recovery of Windows XP, all images show encoded jpeg and unreadable

I lost my hard drive, recover windows after the installation of the new hard drive, but all my photos on the FlashDrive (plugged when the incident occurred) came comme.jpeg.encoeded (file name) and are unreadable by any program that I can find. more than 200 photos have been lost!

Run the command prompt and navigate to the images directory.  Then type

Rename *. JPEG.encoded *.jpeg

(Note the space after "Rename" and ".encoded" above is) and see if they will open in Windows then and show the images.

Make sure you come out of encoded correctly, or how its spelled in the file extension.

You can try one in Windows to see if it works without going through the command prompt, and if that's the case then you can do all 200 like that.

  • System restore after the recovery running disk

    Hello

Is there a way to restore my system to previous state after you run recovery disk?

I forgot to backup my files and apparently lost my data after the recovery running disc. All suggestions will be appreciated. I'm trying to restore my system, but it is not restoration, its shows me only today's date.

    Best regards

    Hello Jazz

Please slow down. Your ad is quite confusing. You can the prior words includes on two completely different ways.

    (1) previous state as factory settings. If you use recovery media is removed from the entire HARD disk and all data will be lost. There is no way to recover them. To the review no data more.
    (2) previous state by using System Restore tool. It will roll back OS time earlier, but all data will be there. Sorry, but if you have ever used recovery media, it's too late for this option.

  • My laptop camera image on the upside after the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

I have a laptop Asus G50Vt - X 1, which is a 64-bit computer. It had Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit installed on it and the unit worked properly with him. I ran the update of Windows 7 Advisory on this matter and he said I could upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit. After the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit the images from the camera are all upside. I contacted Asus about the problem and they sent me the drivers updated, but the images are still upside down. Pourrait Windows 7 cause this problem as I know that it worked fine under Vista?

I also noticed that my dvd/cd player and external hard drives don't stop the execution after that I have quit an application. When this happens, I can't eject the cd or remove the drive from the computer.

  • Suddenly cannot open new tab, immediately after an update of MSWindows7, or after the upgrade to Windows 10 - tired, all kinds of bugs, no luck.

Never had this problem until what MS downloaded and installed updates (for Windows7). So I said I'm going to widows 10 because I thought anyway, so I did this - still cannot open a new tab, or by clicking on the tab '+' or 'ctrl + T.
I spent about an hour going by most of the measures that have been provided by the support of Mozilla tech note and it did not help. I'm not going to create a new FF profile.
I restart my PC, nothing helped. I chose "never" (I forgot the exact wording) on all the Plug Ins and then rebooted and this did not help. I have not loaded Extensions.
I installed FF for Windows 10 just after the installation of Windows 10.
I am a user of whether average PC.
Thanks for any help you can give,
    Steve V.

    Dear cor - el,

Now, I'm happy! Thank you very much.

New tab works now. It is because of me running the first program malware that you listed above, Malwarebytes. I am grateful that you suggested it because I would not have thought that that would be the problem (because the problem occurred immediately after a MS Windows7 update.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing your time and skills.,.

  • Satellite A200 - cannot use Vista after the recovery of the product

Hello. I hope someone can help me with the following... This week I had various issues with which follows my laptop a Vista update that system restore did not fix, so I decided to go for a full recovery of product (which I have a complete backup of all my files).

So far I have used the product recovery on my laptop in the 3 ways I can see (and more than once): without changing the settings, change the settings and maximize the partition, change settings and select advance / expertise.

Whenever I was able to complete the initialization of windows, create a new user account, etc. Once the Office has been set up, I get a small window with a progress bar and when it's over, I click on the button 'restart '...

After the reboot, I get the black screen that says Microsoft Corporation with the green progress bar, but he's there for what feels like 'too long '. After a while, I get a black screen with a cursor, then a blue screen for a crash dump.

If I use F8 and boot mode safe, the system stops the CplIR.sys file, although the hard disk activity seems to be continuing. I turn off after 10 minutes.

If I use F8 and then select Repair computer... This is what is happening with each option
-Restore the full windows operating system: after clicking on OK nothing happens.
-Diagnostics of memory: there is no problem with memory
-DOS prompt: I run CHKDSK and there is no problem with the hard drive
-Restart: there is no errors, even if the word diagnosis 'impossible' when he sees, there is no system restore points

Then on reboot I get the black screen with cursor followed by the crashdump OR if I managed to log in and access my desktop, I get the crash dump, as soon as I try to do something (like open Control Panel).

Following the instructions found elsewhere, I have tried this after removing the battery, then changing power management options immediately after the initialization of windows (ie. before clicking on the restart button). No change.

I even ignored the button restart! But still get a crash dump, when I try to do something.

Any ideas? I've got past (ie. wasted) so a lot of time on this and don't understand what may be wrong after formatting the windows drive image and reloading...

    Hello

It's very interesting story. I got several notebooks several times but I never noticed anything like that.
I must say that what you did right and you think appropriately. If I were you I would try exactly the same steps to make it work somehow.
I do not know which issues you had before, but I imagine that here it's just the problems of software and not important for the operation of the equipment.

It's really hard to say what can be the problem. What you can try, is somewhere to get facilities Microsoft Vista disk and install naked Vista to see if the same thing will happen again.
Anyway, the fact is that images of recovery are tested and adapted for each laptop model and if the material is OK there no reason for this kind of behavior.

Try again with the new installation using Microsoft facilities drive and let us know exactly what is happening.

  • After the recovery with CD Satellite C660-1FE keyboard does NOT work

    Hello

A month ago I bought a Toshiba C660-1FE. After three weeks my HD broke down. I bought a new HD from Western Digital and I replaced the broken HD. I did a recovery of my HD image, so I had to order the recovery disks of the product on the Toshiba site (3 disks, which drive 1 and 3 were the only required for installation).

Now I have the problem that my laptop keyboard doesn't work. I am currently using a USB keyboard and a mouse to replace my keyboard and the touchpad of the notebook.

The keyboard of the laptop works fine in the BIOS. Therefore, I hope that it's just a driver issue.

    I have:

tried to find and install a lot of pilots since the toshiba site, no results.
tried to change settings in the bios (usb enabled).
tried to fix the problem by reinstalling all of the computer repeatedly.

The keyboard seems to work until windows loads. When the system is switched on I can press caps lock and num lock and the green lights will turn on. All this stops working once windows starts is displayed.

Perhaps another problem in Device Manager: under the graphics card, 2 subcategories have exclamation points: it says Mobile Intel (r) 4 series express chipset family twice! I can't seem to fix these with the drivers I can find either. When I check the settings I have this message (google translate since it is in Dutch):

+ Digital signature for the drivers for this device is necessary, cannot be verified. Possible after a recent hardware or software change a file that is installed signed incorrectly or damaged, or malicious software is installed from an unknown source. (Code 52) +.

+ You must restart the computer for this change to take effect. + (obviously I've tried that too)

Can someone give me it please help? I'm at the end of my intelligence.

    Sincerely,

    Daniel

    Hello

Keyboard works in the BIOS, it means that the keyboard material should be ok and the connection between the keyboard and the motherboard is established.

So, what could be bad? Keyboard driver?
Hmm, the keyboard driver is part of the Windows operating system and is installed automatically during the installation of the OS
    I would recommend following:
Go to Device Manager and remove the keyboard point.
You should see something like PS/2 standard keyboard
If you see a red x next to this unit, then it means that the keyboard is disabled.
Usually, you should be able to activate this again (in Device Manager).
If there is no Red Cross, so I you would recommend the deletion of this keyboard in the Manager list of devices, then reboot the laptop. Usually, the operating system should recognize the device automatically deleted and should install the driver too.

    Select this check box.

By the way: it is possible that you received a recovery disk wrong which could explain the problems after the recovery procedure

Solution, according to this link, is:

  • Satellite A100 loads the operating system correctly after the recovery procedure

    Hello

I'm in trouble... I used the recovery CD last week after my laptop developed problems. After the recovery procedure, when I turn on the pc, it loads directly in mode 'Owner' - the pilot of the internet has no charge, Norton AV, supplied with the pc does not load. Basically, it's a shadow of his former self.

And when I try and start the recovery process, that it doesn't... it does not read the disc.
I know that the recovery process did not work properly cos when I look in C: it shows that 60 GB of data is present on the hard disk, so the recovery is not cleaned the hard drive at all.

The only way I can describe it, is that the pc is in some sort of limbo. I can't access the original account I created.

The recovery disk is still okay because I "explored" the drive on another computer and it contains all the data.

    Help, please.

Looks a bit the problem I have with an A100 recovery disk. Mine formatted PC, unpack
a load of stuff and then freezes.
    See...

Like you, I can read the DVD in another PC. I wonder if there is a batch of duff of recovery DVD?

I think I'll try to install XP from a different installation disk. It'll be a bit of a pain in the neck
because it will not authenticate with MS, but at least he's going to prove whether or not the hardware of the laptop is duff.

I'll post back here when (if) I get anywhere.

  • Satellite A30: HDD size after the recovery procedure and Defrag

I have a Satellite A30 and just did a complete reinstall from the recovery of the product disks. My question relates to the amount of disk space hard should be resumed aftre reinstall it.
My hard drive is 4.95 full GB according to the procedure that is much higher than I expected.

Also, after reviewing the reader with Defragmenter I seem to have twice taken up training with Greens, unmovable files like Blue contiguous files. Unmovable files is there and if not how to I remove them?

It's where I guess that extra hard disk space is lost when it is lost?

    Thank you

    Hello

It's not easy to say exactly how much space should be taken after the recovery procedure.
I have so much that I know on the recovery CD, you will find the whole operating system Windows XP, driver Toshiba and utilities as well as additional software like OneNote, WinDVD, etc.
This additional software could take as much space on the disk outside the OS.

Blue not moveable files belong to the Windows operating system, and as a result, the files are placed together.

  • Volume controls on the keyboard after the upgrade to Windows 8

I have a Touchsmart 520-1070 with the mouse and keyboard without wire factory.  After the upgrade to WIndows 8, the volume controls no longer work.  I tried the Recovery Manager to reinstall the keyboard drivers, but there is no driver keyboard under hardware drivers.

In the following device manager are listed under keyboards:

    HID keyboard device

    Keyboard 109 MCIR Microsoft eHome

    Keyboard MCIR Microsoft eHome

Microsoft eHome key remove control Keayboard

    PS/2 standard keyboard

Any report that they are installed and are working correctly and that the drivers are up to date.

Has anyone else seen or solved this problem with a Touchsmart computer?

The instructions below were provided by HP support.  This has restored the function on the keyboard volume controls.  The referenced below drivers are drivers IDT high definition Audio Device.  I am not sure that it was necessary to reinstall the audio drivers.  It can only had to remove the USB dongle and back to restore the functionality of the button.  Note: the USB dongle is located behind the VESA Panel to the back of the PC.  No tools are required and the dongle can be removed and replaced without shutting down the PC.  VESA panel removal requires a bit of a steady hand, pulling the lip which is close to the connections on the rear panel.

    Instructions received from HP:

Please go to the following link and check the "return of the system", article #7 is the USB dongle:
