Aggregation period default dimension

Hello

I just have a question, I noticed that any member with type summary period in the period dimension such as quarters or Yeartotal or half year if necessary are grouped by default even if they are storedata. and accordingly data can be entered with these parents and is divided between the months as well using the distribution.

So when do we need to have parents as dynamic calc? -What for the view storage or if the users are not demanding enter data into the yeartotal or quarters? or there is no other perspective?

And is a property of the periods summary of dimension period they can aggregate although they are to store data, like other dimensions can not do it.

Thank you.

Hello

as explained, "it's a feature on the data form, not in the underlying database Essbase."

Planning knows the logic of aggregation, since it is built in the planning and then pushed to Essbase. If the logic on the data form don't logic and recorded Level0 members but also the parents calculated.

The nice feature, you will save an aggregation (if all the data is loaded through the data forms).

I hope that answers your question.

Kind regards

  • Assignment of a hierarchy of default dimension to a cube

    Hey,.
im working with a dimension that has multiple hierarchies. I want to attribute this dimension to my cubes via different hierarchies.
Im going to describe the situation in the following example:
    --
    Dimension: time
    Hier1: YEAR - MONTH - DAY
    Hier2: YEAR - MONTH
    --
Cube1: Measure of sales (at the level of the day)
CUBE2: Measurement of costs (at the level of the month)
    --
Cube1, I want to be able to drill down to the level of the day, but in Cube2 only months and NOT to the level of the day. This is why ive create these 2 dimensions. I noticed that I can only put hierarchies of aggregation methods.
Setting the "Set as the default hierarchy" area on multiplehierarchies General tabs does not help me.

So the question: is it possible to limit the depth via hierarhies, or will I define multiple dimensions to achieve? (Perhaps can I control this level of worksheet)

    Thank you
    Szilárd

You cannot set different default hierarchy for the two different cubes. Creating two-dimensional and use in different cube can be a solution for this.
We cannot hide the visibility of the hierarchy, but in one of the tab (in blocks), you can actually choose what hierarchy to aggregate. For example, you can select only hier1 for cube 1 and hier2 for cube 2. But keep in mind that the 1 cube data will be displayed to you at the level hier2 sheet.

  • Hyperion Planning: It is recommended to change the default name of the dimension?

    Hello

We have created a new planning application, where we have default dimensions (account, duration, year, script, Version & entity) created automatically.

    1. can change us the default name of the dimension according to my requirement?
    2. If so, will there be an impact if we publish?

Note: Come Planning application only. Database has not yet been created.

Your help will be very appreciated.

    Thank you
    Beatrice

As you created the application it should be no problem, the edition names, it is common to change the year to years to DTS.

  • 1 h period and the time dimension

    Hi all

    1. I'm new to OWB and I was wondering is it possible to force the default time dimension (done using Wizard) to have some 'small' level then a day (say, 1 h)?
If this is not the case, have you tried to manually update the dimension and mapping?
Or it is better to leave default dimension and start with my own time dim?

    2. What is the difference between the dimension created as the dimension "time" and with a similar but defined content as typicall dim? (issues / analysis performance)?

    Thanks in advance.
    See you soon,.

    Hello

OWB can create dimensions date to the level of the day.
You can use this dimension as a source of a map of your own to create a time dimension to the level of the time (enclose it with values of 1-24).

Have you considered using a date on the day level dimension and a second dimesion of time containing only 1-24 hours?

With the help of the wizard makes living easier, but there is no advantage in terms of performance in relation to a normal size. Be sure to add all the clues you need.

  • Add Qtrs back to the Dimension of the period

As a newbie to the schedule, I deleted my period Qtrs dimension expected I might add them back using the summary time add if necessary. My base period is the month, but apparently not that I can use the function period time summary to add a shift back to this dimension.

When you try to add neighborhoods using the function of summary time period, I don't see the possibility of January as the period start time and December as the time of end of period.

Is this possible or should I recreate the application with the quarters?

    Hello

It is possible to add them back in.

    'Add a summary period' - Qtr1 - early Jan - end dec
    Expand Qt1, highlight Apr > 'Add summary period' - Qtr2 - start - Apr - end dec
    Expand Qtr2, highlight Jul > 'Add summary period' - Qtr3 - start - Jul - end dec
    Expand Qtr3, highlight Oct > 'Add summary period' - Qtr4 - start - Oct - end dec

  • Disable the grouping or the distribution in time dimension

With target version, you can enter values in the nonleaf member. But even allocation or aggregation in period values dimension. How to enter values in the quarter and month members?

Top-level default period members are dynamic Calc. Also as an integrated feature of planning you can enter data in the above period level member and he'll get distributed evenly or 4-4-5 or 4-5-4 etc., depending on the configuration of your account...

If I understand your request, just make Q1, Q2... and as stored YearTotal and then it should allow you to enter different values at the level of the year quarter or Total and months.

  • Formula Member: IF... OTHERWISE describe the aggregation

    Hi experts,

How to write a formula for a member parent entity as follows:
    IF (@ISMBR ("Member"))
    do something
    ON THE OTHER
default hierarchical aggregation of his descendants
    ENDIF

I want to just the 'do something' to run to some account in. If there is no ELSE statement, the formula will replace the hierarchical aggregation by default. The problem is that I can't find any manually default aggregate function.

Please ask if my question is not clear.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello
I got approach it slightly differently. I would not on the Member parent himself, instead I create another dynamic member in the same dimension and write the formula here.
If (@ismbr (@list (list of accounts)))
    Parent1;
    On the other
    #missing;
    Endif

Another alternative to write this in Parent1 would eventually end up with a formula too costly and complicated.

  • Difference between the formula rule and column aggregation in edit form

Someone please help this is the use of aggregation formula rule and column in column edit option.

What is the difference if I ask the sum in the aggregation rule to apply sum (column name) in the formula in the column.

When do I need to use that one.

    Thanks in advance

When you create a column of the RPD, you have the opportunity to determine whether the column should be aggregated in some way or not. For dimension columns, you would not put the aggregation. To say, a column of accounting balance account, you may be putting the SUM or AVERAGE aggregate. Aggregation put you on this column will be 'default' column aggregation in the responses.

Thus, in Answerrs, if you use the balancing item of the account column and you have only the size of the region, will bring together the OBIEE or SUM the book balances in order to have an AMOUNT for the level of the region. If you district, that the balance of the book column will consolidate at the district level. It is a convenient way to create reports without having to specify what should be aggregation.

However, OBIEE gives you the ability to override what the default aggregation for a particular column. It is the purpose of the drop down at the bottom left of a column when you click the fx button.

Say the aggregation by default of the book balance is the SUM of the RPD, but for the report that you create, you want to calculate the average, you can apply the AVERAGE function in the fx window and it will be overridge rule of SUM aggregation which was to the RPD.

    I have it?

  • Logical level dimensions

    Hello

I'll put up a new hierarchy at the enterprise level, RPD and in the news 'Dimensions', the 'Table' tab is disabled, I tried to open it in mode both online and offline, the same question.

When I add a new object "Logic level" under him, the child level 'Add' key is also disabled. Help, please.

    Thank you.

    Hello
When you create a new default dimension tab "tables" will be disabled because there are no tables in the dimension. and if you give a right click on the new dimension, it only shows the logical level because there must be at least one level to create the levels.for child and parent you just to select the columns in the dimension table, and drag them into the logical level created in the dimension. and now the level of parent and child will be enabled.this is the process to create the hierarchy if you select 'Create new dimension' instead, you can directly go to the dimension table in the MDB and give a right click and select Create dimension option. This will create the dimension hierarchy.

    Hi all

Is it possible to put or have an aggregation column in "dimension table?

    Thank you
    Nestor

    Hi Nestor,.

Technically, it should be possible, but it is not recommended. Put you aggr-columns in the fact table.

    Why would you do that?

  • sum of a column of the dimension

    Hello
If my requirement of report said we get SUM (Treasury of column) of the dimension table then can we do it? I have undersatnd that function must be used for measures in fact table. What are we doing to reach the sum of the columns in the dimension table? The report tries to compare the sum (column done) sum (dimension columns). Earlier when I used the sum on the column dimension function he gave no precise results. Please advice.

Unfortunately, I could not explain this matter in a simple unique way, without seeing exactly the report and generated queries

In the simple table, OBIEE is supposed to do something like this (I assume you put the attribute of the year, money and a measure of 'real')

    "+ select +".
    + Year +.
    + Sum (cash) +.
    + Sum (fact measure) +.

    + Of +.
    + time_dim_table, +.
    + cash_dim_table, +.
    + fact_table +.

    + where (joins).
    + Group by year +.
    "

You can check if the physical demand looks like this, in order to understand the results.

In the PivotTable, it's totally different.
Your physical demand will be no aggregation: so what will:

    "+ select +".
    + Year +.
    + Cash +.
    + Sum (fact measure) +.

    + Of +.
    + time_dim_table, +.
    + cash_dim_table, +.
    + fact_table +.

    + where (joins).
+ Group by year, money +.
    "

But, OBIEE then apply logic calculatiosn to display goods results in the PivotTable.
Who can explain the different results.

But don't forget that told you right: avoid the aggregation on the dimension attributes. You can sometimes has good results (ex: using the pivot, or other), but it's not really the best way to make your reports. If you often need a "sum (cash"), create a new table of logic made with the 'picture of cash' (even if it is also a dimension table).

  • Navigation between the SWFs in the output of the aggregator

The CP4 aggregator is an excellent tool again, but I need some advice on customization. Because the aggregator generates an HTML and SWF that serve as the skin for the films Captivate it loads, on-board navigation in Captivate movies (i.e. "chaining" films using "Load project" or "load URL / file ') no longer works. "Load project" fails because there is no HTML file to launch, and "Load URL or file" throw the user off course and the target SWF in the parent window. That means the user depends on the table of contents to navigate between Captivate movies.

I hope that somebody figures a way to control the SWF aggregator since in Captivate movies so navigation between Captivate movies can be achieved with a next button or other object.

After that play with it some more, Steve is right... Captivate movies added to a project aggregator do default Garland. Specifically, what has worked for me puts the end action 'Stop' in the project preferences, the last slide on the the exit action to 'Go to the next slide' and the next button or click action box to "continue". Works great!

  • Financial report by default

    Hello
In financial reports, which is the setting that I need to set so that when a user interactive Planner opens the report for the first time, the POV does not by default the name of the Dimension? I have a report with the scenario and the Version in the POV (with safety defined on them) and when a user opens the report, they get the error that they have not access to members of the scenario and Version. This happens because the default report both name the first Dimension as the user opens the report I think.

Is there something I can set so that whenever a user opens a report, it will not default dimension name which you cannot set security? Thanks I appreciate any help.

    Hello

I know you must go to the preferences in the workspace for financial reports, turn on preview, this means that when reports are run, they are invited to select members and the report should not miss.
