Airport Express do not reset

My parents have a problem with their Airport Express (latest generation, redeemed in 2014).  We had a storm yesterday and dropped their internet.  I went to try to reset their router, but it will not reset at all.  The indicator light remains just orange/amber and when I try to do any sort of reset (soft, hard, factory) there's just orange/orange and never flashes as it should when it is set to zero.

Is this thing toast?

Would not be the end of the world as they asked me how to get a better signal in the yard and told them that probably they needed a larger router.  Nature may have forced this issue.

Unfortunately, a solid amber status LED light seems to indicate a power supply for the base station. If you have already tried all types of reset, the chances are very good, as the storm has damaged the device and must be replaced. Sorry!

  • AirPort Express will not set up

It must be the 10th right now - all I'm trying to do is to add an AirPort Express Terminal to my home network, with the aim mainly attaching an external hard drive to it.

I have a BT HomeHub 5. Whenever I open AirPort Utility on my iPhone, iMac or MBP, I see the AirPort Express, start the installation, select "Add to the existing network", continue with the rest of the installation.

After awhile, it sets up, I press "done" and it appears in AirPort Utility window. If I change the settings on the airport, it crashes and I have to click on "forget" and do a reset.

The same thing happens if I connect my external hard drive to it.

The craziest thing: closure of the AirPort Utility application and reopening apparently cause the EPA have a yellow triangle next to him and I have no choice but to press on "forget", and the whole cycle repeats again.

    It's very frustrating...

all I'm trying to do is to add an AirPort Express Terminal to my home network, with the aim mainly attaching an external hard drive to it.

A potential problem here is going to be that an AirPort Express will NOT support a hard drive... as the USB port on the Express only supports a compatible USB printer.

-What are you trying to do?  Alternatively, your hard drive will connect to the AirPort Express using wired Ethernet?

The next issue will be 'how' you are trying to connect the AirPort Express Terminal to the HomeHub.  The Express will connect wireless only, or it will connect using wired Ethernet wired, Permanent?

  • Airport Express does not work

I need help. I have an Apple Airport Extreme and extend it with an Apple Airport Express. One day I needed to my extreme, which I did, forward port (which was for the xbox, and I followed this: Xbox NAT open (Apple routers)) I then updated my Airport Extreme. Subsequently, my Express glows green but it does not actually give a signal, I stay connected to the extreme, so I tried to use ethernet with the Express, and who won't let me connect to the Internet. So, I need help.

If the Express was created to connect to the AirPort Extreme using a Wi - Fi connection, and you later connected to an Ethernet cable to the Express... that creates a huge feedback loop that actually blocks the network provided by the Express.

You will need to restart and reset the Express back to default settings, then set up again.

If you want the Express to connect permanently at any time to the extreme by using an Ethernet cable, then you must establish this connection before you implement the Express again. The Ethernet cable can never be disconnected.

If you want to Express to extend the wireless network, then you use an Ethernet cable to the installation.

If you need more tips, post back to let us know what operating system your Mac is running or you use a PC or an iPhone / iPad to configure things.

  • Old Airport Express lost after reset of the router, the connection cannot be seen/accessed

    the train:

-Mid 2009 Macbook Pro, OS Yosemite airport 6.3.5 10.10.5, utility

-Existing wifi network via a former Ubiquiti AC wifi or router which gets internet radio antenna on the roof of the local ISP.

-old (1st gen.) A1084 Airport Express used only as a customer to listen to the music of the said Macbook.

I am a musician who has been using my old AEX to listen to the music and the recording via Airplay and Airfoil for my Roland onstage for years without problem. I don't remember how I initially put in place, but I think it's as a customer only... IE, it broadcast as its own wireless network, or extend my network wifi etc, I just use it for listening to music.

Well, a week earlier, a disgruntled rogue ex-my local ISP hacked their radio tower and all the customer routers turned into useless bricks (and also all our wifi network names changed to a name that begins with "mother" and ends by "-ers", but that's another story).

Local ISP technicians have managed to get my router all re - set up and working, but I had to reconfigure my wireless devices (example: wifi printer) from scratch to be able to connect again.

The tenacious hold on is this old Airport Express.

I try to use the instructions found online to get connected again, but nothing does.

Yes, I tried pressing the Reset button for 10 seconds, etc... He just goes at once orange flashing or sometimes solid orange light, and don't see the Airport utility. I tried to plug its ethernet port to the router's LAN port to see if the Airport utility, would see no change, Airport utility requires no base stations found. It has no Airport icon in my menu bar and no Airplay icon in any relevant application such as iTunes.

Remember that in past I was able to reset/reconnect after network changes, it seems to me (I don't remember how). BTW, its location is located a few feet from the router, in order to hang it up through ethernet is easy if need be.

Once again, I only want to not to listen to the music and the tracking records of my Macbook. Roland aren't in a convenient place for an electrician. As you can tell the age of my stuff, I'm a starving musician, don't want to have to buy something new.

  • Airport Express does not connect to WiFi!

My Airport Express has lost its connection to the WiFi and cannot reconnect, keeps flashing yellow!

It is only used to stream music from my iPad and not connected via ethernet. Its working well for 2 years until he lost the connection to my iPad because I took the iPad out of range of WiFi. Now, I can't get the the airport to connect to the WiFi again.

I tried to reset button Reset 20 sec, also tried turning setting turned off and now the reset button for a maneuver on once again, however, does not. Any ideas?

    Gorm.

    Hello

There may be a firmware update available.

Open the AirPort Utility application located in HD > Applications > utilities , then click on the AirPort Express .

If an update is available, you must do.

  • 2nd generation Airport express does not not with El Capitan

My express shares two airport were suddenly disconnected my wifi. Despite the soft resets and reset hard I'm getting nowhere.

Airport said (6.3.6) utility it is impossible to extend the network, and amber flash units.

I think that this could have happened when I updated the software to 10.11.3, iMac but I'm not sure. earlier versions of El Cap worked very well.

I run a Time Capsule and then two Airport Express units off that to extend the network. The two Airport Express are 2nd generation.

    Thanks in advance

Make sure that the Time Capsule is not save at the time and then pull the power cord to the back of the unit or remove the plug from the AC outlet

Wait 10 to 15 seconds, and then turn on again time Capsule and let it run.

Temporarily move an AirPort Express Terminal in the same room or in immediate proximity to the time Capsule. Power off of the 'other' AirPort Express for now.

Perform a hard reset on an AirPort Express Terminal by pressing the button of reset for 5-6 seconds while the airport was turned on for a few minutes. Release the reset button and allow a minute for the AirPort Express restart to a slow status of amber light flashes.

Rerun the Setup program on the AirPort Express

If things set up correctly, turn off the AirPort Express and move to the desired location, and then turn it upwards.

Turn on the second AirPort Express Terminal, perform a hard reset on the device and set up again as you did the AirPort Express.

  • Airport Express had not cooperated and TC?

I got my TC and Airport Express for a few years now without any problems.  Recently, no known changes, I could no longer connect to my wifi/internet. After that everything in that I can get troubleshooting, it's when the TC and AE are physically connected to my my wifi internet network and stop working.  When I have either connected by themselves the internet and wifi works very well.  My setup as follows:

Router & Verizon Fios Internet Service

Airport Express hard wired to the Fios router

Time Capsule hard wired to the Fios router

I have updated firmware on TC and AE today and no luck.  Any ideas on what might be the cause?

    Thank you!

Reset both the TC and Express to plant and restore the configuration.

Make sure that both are in bridge mode... and get IP address valid for the FIOS router.

If you are roaming network then both TC and Express needs to create a wireless network of the same name and same level of security / password.

If you still have questions, post screenshots of the installation.

  • my airport express does not extend to my network

Hello to you all guru out there...

I 5g internet and comes with the router and signal is fantastic in the main lounge, but it is a large apartment and once I get my room the signal decreases considerably.

I bought an Airport Express and it connects to the wifi perfectly, green light and everything, but it does not extend my wifi network...

Do I need to have another Aiport Express hooked up to the main router, then extend the Airport Express wifi or should I get an Airport Extreme?

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Do I need to have another Aiport Express hooked up to the main router, then extend the Airport Express wifi

Yes, the "main" AirPort Express should be connected to your router using a wired Ethernet cable connection, permanently. This Express will be set to "create a wireless network.

Other Express your distance can then be configured to "extend a wireless network.  In its current form, your existing Express is configured to "join a wireless network.  It will work for AirPlay like that, or allow you to connect a supported USB printer, but it cannot extend a network provided by a third-party router wireless.

Regarding matching them things, it would make sense to use two airport expresses, or the two extremes of the airport.  The extreme might be your "primary" router if you wanted to, but the Express would not be able to expand the capacity of faster speed to the extreme.

  • Airport Express do not work when the mac has been turned off

I plugged our mac mini and the Airport express separately to the internet via a network hub. When I turn off the green light on the airport Mac Orange and blinks. The internet connection disappeared.

Is anyone know how I can configure the network, so I can turn off the mac without cutting off the internet at the Airport express?

Post a screenshot of the express installation of airport utility.

I plugged our mac mini and the Airport express separately to the internet via a network hub.

This seems odd... What is a network hub? They went to fashion 20 years ago. Do you mean a switch? Real model number please.

    What model is the express?

Is anyone know how I can configure the network, so I can turn off the mac without cutting off the internet at the Airport express?

Plug the Express directly on the main router... and implemented in Bridge mode and create a wireless network. That's the way it should be installed now... but this 'hub' could be a problem.

  • Airport Express does not extend WiFi range

OK, I posted a long time will cost about an airport older Gen Express not extending my wifi range when implemented to extend (wireless) and connected to a network of Apple (Airport Extreme). No solution, so I gave up.

Still frustrated by the lack of a strong wifi signal to my back door / Garden (it is a small house!), I bought a new Express and set it up again to extend my current network, placed it on my window sill back room (where I get a pretty good wifi signal on my iPhone and iPad), but about 6 feet of him, the other side of the glass in my garden I get a flicker of 1-2 bars the signal strength that is de-energized intermittently.

I get no significant (or even vaguely reasonable) increase in force wifi when I approach from the Express, but increase next to the extreme.

Or should I put either the express until properly (I'm sure I'm) or I am fundamentally misunderstand the term "extend a wireless network. Alternatively, I bought 3 years 2 defective Express apart.

    Can anyone help?

    See you soon.

You have a handy Mac laptop? If so, we can run tests to understand the current quality of the signal at each location where you want to have a Wi - Fi access. If all goes well, we can find better place to place your Express extension for your goals of networking.

  • Terminal Airport express "could not extend network" after working fine for a week

I bought an express airport last weekend and got on the rise and working on the 2nd floor of my house without any problem.  I had problems with reception shotty in my son, which is the furthest from our extreme airport room.  On Wednesday night, trying to connect to the woman in his room I continued loss of reception and so when I looked at my express it's orange flashing.  Pulled up to the airport utility and it says that the connection was excellent, but that the airport base station could not extend the wireless network.  The only thing I can think is that I used my iphone to listen to music through my apple tv the same day and I'm not sure if that set something off somehow. I have the express several times using the soft/hard factory redefined and methods without success.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

BTW, I created this as an extended network. Try to read and understand any bypass but do not know if this is the right way to go

  • Airport Express used as a range extender with a Virgin / superhub of Netgear does not work

I use Wifi around the House on three floors and in the back kitchen.  in the kitchen, reception is poor, probably because of masonry between the modem and the kitchen walls.

I bought an Airport Express 802.11n in January 2016 hub to extend the WiFi in the kitchen and I hope that the patio beyond.  The distances are not great - 10 to 15 m.  We have the Virgin as a provider with a Netgear Virgin Super Hub (490 VMDG).

Express to the airport moved and this is confirmed when to check on my Mac with Airport utility, the MONKEY shows and itself a steady green light.

Problem is that in using wifi designs in the kitchen the signal is poor to non-existent and when I turn off the EPA the signal isn't as well, which implies that the received signal is that of hub Super rather than the EPA.

I guess I can't realized overall upward to extend an existing network?

    Any suggestions?

The Airport Express is not designed to extend the signal of a 3rd party router, so if you try to have the Express connect wireless wireless and to extend the signal, he can not do with your Virgin Super Hub.

The Express is designed to extend the signal from another wireless only router from Apple.

The Express 'joined' your wireless network, it could be used to connect a compatible USB printer or for use with AirPlay.

If you want to Express to extend the signal of the Super station, the Express needs to connect to the hub using wired Ethernet wired, permanent.

Alternatively, another option would be to add another Express, install it near the hub and plug it into the hub with an Ethernet cable. Then, a 'distance' AirPort Express would be able to extend wireless signal of the Express 'main '.

  • Airport Express has stopped working after a reboot?

My internet is slow so I disconnected all my gear to restart, and subsequently, my Airport Express flashes orange and doesn't seem to work. It is used as an Extender for internet and wireless printing. The Internet access does not work in the room in which it is located, and the WiFi is low, around this room. Internet working in other parts of the House near my Airport extreme AC.  I opened Airport utility and the only thing that appears is the Internet connected to the AirPort Extreme this. The Airport Express is not displayed. What can I do to fix this?

    Thanks in advance!

    • Soft reset: perform this reset if you forget your password.  Soft reset resets your password and disables security settings (settings of access control and RADIUS are temporarily interrupted). Forget the password would normally prevent connection or device configuration. If you make no changes within five minutes to do a soft reset, the unit will return to its former State. All the parameters of the device will be available once it has rebooted.
    1. Connect the device to the power supply and wait for it to complete its startup process.
    2. Press in and hold the reset button with a pen, a pencil or paper clip straightened for 1 full second, then release it. The lamp (LED) starts amber flashes, indicating that the unit is in soft reset mode.
    3. In the airport menu bar item, choose the network created by the device (the network name does not change).
    4. Open utility AirPort from Applications > utilities.
    5. Select the base station, and then click on edit (editing window indicates that the base station is in Soft Reset mode).
    6. Move tabs to make changes to your passwords or other settings as needed, then click on update and continue, as requires it
    7. Quit AirPort Utility.
  • Question Airport Express.

I'm so confused. I'll try to keep a long story short. I lost my internet connection a few weeks ago, and instead blame Mediacom, I blamed my old airport of 12 years and I bought a new Airport Express Terminal (with a new ethernet cable to replace a at least 20 years. While the implementation of the new Terminal Airport Express, I was unable to get anything to work and finally called Mediacom. The problem was indeed at their end, where the cables to connect in the basement of my four-plex apartment.

Now to cut to the Chase: given that I reproach myself my own equipment and not of Mediacom, I managed to set up two connections Airport Express (call Network1 and Network2). When I restart my computer, it connects inevitably to one or the other, but never the same. It connects only to those who, at the time, won't let me connect. So I turn to the other and all are well again. At the same time, when I get home, my iPhone will almost always automatically connect to the network which does not connect to the internet. It might work with Network1 while my computer only works with Network2. Same thing with my iPad. It is either 1 or Network2, but never both, and never the same. The three units can be on different networks at the same time for each group in order to connect to the internet.

    So my question (s):

How can I remove one of the networks so that it completely disappears? There is apparently some kind of criss-cross current that confuses my computer and its peripherals.

If I delete that which does not (at the time), I ALWAYS keep one connect correctly or I need to reset my Airport Express and start from scratch?

I even does not start in the subject what a pain it was to connect my Tivo to my wireless network, because it works too only with one or the other. And I still have my printer wireless to set up.

Help/suggestions/explanations are greatly appreciated. I've been using Mac and set up networks since the dark ages, but it left me speechless.

The Airport Express should not have 2 networks unless you have enabled the guest network. Is it possible that your Internet router has a Wi - Fi network on it as well?

I highly recommend you reset the default Airport Express Terminal and try again. It's really the only way you are going to get a suitable resolution.

It is also possible that your network of old and new settings are still in iCloud keychain and causing some confusion.

I would recommend you disable iCloud Keychain on each device, then make sure that you forgot the network name on each device.

Recreate your wireless network (giving a new unused name so you can tell if it's all working), then log in to the network without wire on each device, one at a time, making sure the internet connection works.

You can then re-enable iCloud Keychain if you wish.

    Good luck.

  • Airport Express showing no light

My Airport Express does not long green light solid (I got it a few years and it worked perfectly).  If I turn it on again it flashes green for a short time (not orange) then turns off completely.  Sometimes it flashes green again for a short period.  It is not picked up at the Airport utility.

The internal power supply has failed. The Express need to be replaced.
