AIX to Linux migration path

Hi Hussein.

I want to migrate our form of 11i EBS AIX OEL.
Can you give me Notes on how to do this?

Source:
AIX = 5.3
DB = 10.2.4.0
EBS = 11.5.10.2

Target:
OEL = 5.8 or 6.3 (x 86 or x86_64?)
DB = 10.2.0.4 or do I put?
EBS = 11.5.10.2 (us improve not now)

Note: 238276.1 - migration to Linux with the version of Oracle Applications 11i
Note: 362205.1 - process of Import/Export for Instances of database Oracle Applications Release 11i with Oracle Database 10g Release2
Note: 557738.1 - process of Import/Export for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i with Oracle Database 11g Release1 or 2

My Questions are
1. can you 11i migrate OEL 6.3?
2. can you 11i migrate OEL in x86_64 version?
3. can you 11i migrate to other linux(RedHat/CentOS)?
4 What Tier(App/DB) migrate first?
5. can I migrate DB (10.2.0.4) DB (11.2.0.3) in the target directly, or I have to migrate to the same version of db, then upgrade to 11.2.0.3?
6 should. what I do?

Thank you very much.

Hi Nick,

I want to migrate our form of 11i EBS AIX OEL.
Can you give me Notes on how to do this?

I see that you already have the docs :)

Source:
AIX = 5.3
DB = 10.2.4.0
EBS = 11.5.10.2

Target:
OEL = 5.8 or 6.3 (x 86 or x86_64?)
DB = 10.2.0.4 or do I put?

Oracle EBS is not certified on OEL 6.x

2. can you 11i migrate OEL in x86_64 version?

Yes for the database layer node, but not for the application tier node which must stay on 32 bits - frequently asked Questions: Oracle E-Business Suite Support on x 86-64 [343917.1 ID]

3. can you 11i migrate to other linux(RedHat/CentOS)?

Yes for Redhat - please check the Certification Matrix in the site Web of MOS.

4 What Tier(App/DB) migrate first?

Or the other. I recommend the crux of layer of database (10g, and 11g import export) migration.

5. can I migrate DB (10.2.0.4) DB (11.2.0.3) in the target directly, or I have to migrate to the same version of db, then upgrade to 11.2.0.3?

You can migrate to 10g and 11g

6 should. what I do?

Note: 238276.1 - migration to Linux with the version of Oracle Applications 11i
Note: 557738.1 - process of Import/Export for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i with Oracle Database 11g Release1 or 2

  • migration by expdp/impdp db to AIX and Linux. Impdp errors, help.

    Hi, I did complete expdp (11 GR 1 material) and complete impdp (11 GR 2) migrate db from aix to linux.

    I have the following questions in mind:
    (1) I checked the imp papers and found a lot of mistakes. I think that most can be ignored, but I just want to be double sure before that I release the new db migrated for use. Is there a better way to avoid these mistakes?

  • Travel power (AIX) to Linux (PureApp) questions Documaker

    Hello

    I was wondering if there are documents with respect to the facilities of Documaker migration from one server to another.

    We are looking to move our DM SE 11.3 and 12.x moved from AIX to Linux.

    Is the recommendation to make a new installation on the new server for each version or can we simply move from one to the other?

    Thank you!

    The binaries on these platforms are different, so a single copy will not work. You should be able to copy your settings and MRLS, adjust these do match if directory names change and then tap a Documaker installed Linux system. Assuming that you are talking about standard edition and not business.

  • 3.5 to 5.0 migration path

    We have two hosts running esx 3.5 with vCenter 3.5 and wish us migrate 5.0 ESX host to vCenter 5.0 with two of the nine.

    What is the correct migration path to make it work?

    Is it possible to have host ESX 3.5 and ESX 5 hosts two same LUN access if they are on install it / data center totally different?

    Thank you

    Jimmy

    Yes - the new ESXi hosts should be able to detect on ESX 3.5 data warehouses as much as they are presented on the news using the same ID LUN... also if you want version VMFS VMFS-5 - 3.5 ESX host will be a problem to access data warehouses

  • Migration path from 32-bit vCenter Server 4.0 to 64 - bit vCenter Server 4.1?

    I'm having a hard time coming up with a migration path that will get me to my existing vCenter Server 4.0 (Windows 2003 32-bit), to vCenter Server 4.1, what I understand is 64-bit only.

    My current vCenter runs in a guest on a 64-bit hardware, so from a point of view of "hardware", I have no problem.   But I can't get Windows 2003 32 - but to 2008 R2 64 bit in place.  I could build a new server, but I am at a loss on how to migrate from my old server vCenter function to the new.  Several instructions simply said to import and export the sql database - which I am not convinced that I can do without explicit instruction (no mssql expers here).

    I hope that there is a simpler way.  Maybe if I could set up a new 64-bit server, bind them, leave it to move data across and decomission one 32-bit?  (I don't know if the vCenter Server linking works this way).

    Any suggestions, or paths of existing documented migration that could help me?  I'm a little confused as to how to address the issue.

    Thank you

    -Ken

    The important question is where you vCenter data stored? Using SQL Express, a local SQL Server or a remote SQL Server? All information related to your vCenter environment is stored in the database - so if you build a new vCenter server all you need to do is the Connector ODBC to point to the existing database and when you install vCenter 4.1 the data base will be get upgraded.

    See section 5 of this document http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_upgrade_guide.pdf

    Hello

    I have a deployed EPM Planning 11.1.2.2 environment on Windows, with the exception of Essbase, which runs on AIX.  I would like to migrate to Linux Essbase.

    Is it possible (except set up a new EPM and LCM/import environment)?  I have difficulties to find information about it.

    I hope I can do something like:

    1.) install the new Essbase server on linux and configure shared services

    (2.) the source change to point to the new essbase Server planning data

    3.) deploy application planning

    4.) import data to new Essbase

    5.) set up the old Essbase

    If anyone has the resources or advice they can direct me to, it would be very appreciated.

    (2) then import them using impdp on Linux. Little bit confused becuse windows and linux by using other fails the path to data files and how Max easy to do this?

    Thank you very much!

    This happens because you have a different character in the source to the target database database.

    For example, if you export a character defined single-byte and import into the multibyte character set it is likely that you will encounter this problem because a single character who now uses a single byte in the source database can use 2 bytes (or more) in the target database.

  • Database Oracle from Windows to Linux migration

    Hey guys,.

    I'm database oracle 11g R2 in Windows 7 migration to Red hat 5 (64-bit) Linux using RMAN by transport.sql file. I installed Oracle 11 g R2 on the two system.

    But the problem is that my data files are scattered in different locations (I mean that all are not in the same directory) and I did not have enough space to all copy in the same directory. Can someone tell me how I'm supposed to write several locations as value the NAME of FILE DB CONVERT parameter when creating transport using RMAN script, I know the command for a directory only.

    RMAN > Convert the new database database linuxdb

    script of transport for "C:\test\transport.sql."

    db_file_name_convert 'C:\oracle\oradata\orcl\' "C:\test".

    the platform "Linux IA < 32 bit >";

    This command allows to convert all the files in the database that resides in the orcl directory and place them in the test directory. But in my case, all the files are not in the directory orcl

    and I can't copy other files in there because I don't have enough space on the entire system.

    I can't create transport script several times because it is incorrect.

    I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

    You can specify as many pairs of directories as needed

    Can I migrate EBS 11.5.9 to 11.5.10 solaris linux directly or I must first upgrade to 11.5.10.2 on solaris only then to RHEL5?

    Upgrade to 11.5.10.2 migrate then.

    11.5.9 (solaris)-> 11.5.10.2 (linux). is this possible?

    It is not possible that you can not have 11.5.9 on OEL5/RHEL5

    or 11.5.9 (solaris)-> 11.5.10.2 (solaris)-> 11.5.10.2 (linux)?

    This is possible.

    Since you plan to upgrade to 12.1.1, why upgrade to 11.5.10.2 first (you can skip from 11.5.9 to R12). What I would say, you or the other upgrade your 11.5.9 existing instance on Solaris 10 for R12 and then migrate to Linux. Or, install RHEL 4 on the new server, migrate the 11.5.9 to the new server, and then upgrade to R12 and finally upgrade the operating system to RHEL5.

    If none of these approaches work for you, please let us know so we can provide you with all the documents (in case you need it).

    Thank you
