3.5 to 5.0 migration path

We have two hosts running esx 3.5 with vCenter 3.5 and wish us migrate 5.0 ESX host to vCenter 5.0 with two of the nine.

What is the correct migration path to make it work?

Is it possible to have host ESX 3.5 and ESX 5 hosts two same LUN access if they are on install it / data center totally different?

Thank you

Jimmy

Yes - the new ESXi hosts should be able to detect on ESX 3.5 data warehouses as much as they are presented on the news using the same ID LUN... also if you want version VMFS VMFS-5 - 3.5 ESX host will be a problem to access data warehouses

  • Migration path from 32-bit vCenter Server 4.0 to 64 - bit vCenter Server 4.1?

I'm having a hard time coming up with a migration path that will get me to my existing vCenter Server 4.0 (Windows 2003 32-bit), to vCenter Server 4.1, what I understand is 64-bit only.

My current vCenter runs in a guest on a 64-bit hardware, so from a point of view of "hardware", I have no problem.   But I can't get Windows 2003 32 - but to 2008 R2 64 bit in place.  I could build a new server, but I am at a loss on how to migrate from my old server vCenter function to the new.  Several instructions simply said to import and export the sql database - which I am not convinced that I can do without explicit instruction (no mssql expers here).

I hope that there is a simpler way.  Maybe if I could set up a new 64-bit server, bind them, leave it to move data across and decomission one 32-bit?  (I don't know if the vCenter Server linking works this way).

Any suggestions, or paths of existing documented migration that could help me?  I'm a little confused as to how to address the issue.

    Thank you

The important question is where you vCenter data stored? Using SQL Express, a local SQL Server or a remote SQL Server? All information related to your vCenter environment is stored in the database - so if you build a new vCenter server all you need to do is the Connector ODBC to point to the existing database and when you install vCenter 4.1 the data base will be get upgraded.

I migrated opening for Photos, but I am satisfied with all of the features.  Is there a pictures 1.0.1 for Lightroom migration route where I can keep my files and projects.  Unfortunately, I've added several projects/folders since my initial migration.

    Hi mfeilinger,

From now there is no Plugin to import the photo library in Lightroom.

However, you can export the images of Photos and then import them into Lightroom.

  • R710 - migration Perc 6 / i of H700i

I guess it's a migration path taken in charge, but I try to find documentation on the exact process and have failed so far.  I've seen comments about the other controllers (i.e. Perc 6i/R for a H700) stating that import a RAID with OS only is not supported (OS will bluescreen).

So I guess my question is, is this a supported migration path?  What are the exact steps?  I guess I draw just the 6 / i, H700i, start, drivers/firmware update and done.

H200-> PERC5 certainly doesn't work. They are not yet comparable compatible / controllers. You would need to make a backup independent of the hardware and restore. Move to a PERC 5 is crazy - just get a H700.

  • DMM 5.2.2 7835 H 2 DMM 5.4 VM migration

    Hi all

We are running DDM 5.2.2 on a MCS 7835 H 2 Server and use only the DMP 4400.  We are looking to migrate to DMM 5.4 as using our software upgrade contract.  I went through the options options/upgrade of migration and to understand the process of having to go through the 5.2.2 > 5.2.3 > 5.3 > 5.4 > 5.4.1.

But I don't have access to a a MCS 7835 H 3 or C210 server, but I have access to a C220M3.  Is there a migration route to take me to 5.2.2 for 5.4.1 running on our UCS B series taking place in VMWare 5.0?

I saw the migration document that references the migration of 7835H 2 for the C210 to http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/hw/platform/migration/dmm-mcs-ucs.html

But, as mentioned above do not have access to a C210 to undertake this.  Is there a way to take 5.2.2 configuration and this directly to import it into a new installation of 5.4 (I guess not).  can I use the C220 instead of the C210?  If possible can I run through the migration, do upgrades to get to DMM 5.4.1 install a double DMM 5.4.1 in VMware and backup the C220 and restore the installation of VMware?

    Thanks for any help.

    Happy new year

    Hi David,

You can see a similar description in the following thread:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/thread/2190258

The answer is no, it is not a migration path official at this point if you have not already migrated it to C210 before, unfortunately. You need to trigger this to your Cisco team account in order to get help with this.

Best regards and happy new year,

  • Migration of the AAA

    Hello

I have AAA 4.1 on win 2003. I want to migrate to 4.2. What should be my migration path? Update files I have are ACS - 4.2.1.15. When I try to update the message that I can spend to 4.2.1.15 only of 4.2. Please suggest what migration path should I take?

    Thank you

    Jérôme

    Hi Sophie,.

I think that you are in the process of upgrading your Windows ACS 4.1.1 to 4.2.1.

ACS 4.2.1.15 version can only be improved over the ACS 4.2.0.124 since you run ACS version 4.1.1, so you must first upgrade to 4.2.0.124 and then to 4.2.1.15

If you are looking for the regular version of 4.2.0.124 then you need to open evidence of the TAC but evaluation version you can download link under listed:

    Hello

I'm running a vCenter in the form of an appliance. I want to move now to a windows installation. I'm actually under version 5.1 and I intend to migrate to version 5.5

Is it possible to migrate such device if possible in a one shot?

    Hello

Why do you want to migrate to the Windows Version?

There is no direct upgrade/migration path.

What you can do is to use an adhesive to VMware: InventorySnapshot & #8211; VMware Labs to migrate your inventory to the Windows Installation.

  • ESX 4.0 to ESX 4.1 - migration

    Guys,

I have ESX 4.0 and Vcenter 4.0 in my environment. VC server is windows server 2003 64-bit and oracle database. I have to migrate all my hosts ESX 4.1 and I think that I have to migrate VC also to 4.1.

So my question is how can I migrate Server VC 4.0 Server VC 4.1. After that I have each of my guests migrate from 4.0 to 4.1 using of pre and upgrade.

Please help me if I am wrong in my plan. I have to migrate, but never did before. Thank you

Migration paths are documented in http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_upgrade_guide.pdf

For vCenter, you can make simple upgrade: install the new vCenter, use existing DB connection and there will be an upgrade.

Then switch VUM to 4.1 and use it to upgrade the hosts.

  • Migration to different SAN storage

    Hello

I need to change the storage array in my environment and want to check the migration path. It's as simple as

    1. plug the new storage to existing servers Bay;

    2. create the new existing VMware Cluster data store;

    3. move VMs are old to new (Storage vMotion) or Offline data store;

    4 remove the old data store;

    5. disconnect the old storage servers;

Are there problems with a cluster of vSphere 4.0 the migration in this way?

    Thank you

    Hello

Once you connect the new SAN storage, make sure that the redundancy of paths and multitracks with path for each logical unit number selection is correct do ensure the availability and active/active paths are available.

Also, better test all the components of the new SAN storage redundancy correct, as the power of connections of storage and mapping of table turning each components off / ON, then try your migration.

  • OS migration is no problem for Upgradation(8.0.4-11gR2) DB with Windows

    Dear all,

I'm collecting documents and information to a downgrade to the latest version 11 GR 2.

The current version of the database is 8.0.4 out support for Oracle version. his lies in Windows 2003 server.

    What is the best way!

    (1) set at the operating system level and the database upgrade

    or

    (2) upgrade of the GR 11, 2 with the same OS (WIN2003) DB, then migrate the DB to the new Windows Server 2008 operating system.

Nobody tells me how far I have to go for the points mentioned above.
What are the risks if I point 1! and what will happen if I'm the point 2. Does the GR 11 2 BONES in this way 2 to approach support!

Waiting for your comments and advice.

    Hamza says:
    Thank you Srini & Mr.Helios,

Sorry for the late reply because of the Eid.

Yes, you, the experts are correct. I will modernize the DB, so I'll go for the OS migration.

DB size all is 20GB and the customer can in down time up to 48Hrs, moreover, I want to make sure about the location of the scripts to manually upgrade at 8.0.4 in 8i DB.

I would like to discuss the old topic, I shared in the same blog on scripts and migration paths.

8.0.4 - it's the basic version of the DB. in running u0800040.sql the DB will change its version 8.0.6
8.0.6 - this new version, should I upgrade to 8.1.5 db (8i) by running u0800060.sql

It has bee a long time because we are all dealt with 8i - I don't remember if simply run u0800060.sql will spend 8.0.x to 8.1.x.

    8.1.5 - script u801050.sql replace his version 8.1.7

    Same comment above applies.

    8.1.7 - by a patch 4547803 the 8.1.7 DB will become 9.2.0.8

You will need to install 9.2.0.1 in another ORACLE_HOME first, then apply 9.2.0.8 patch for the HOME 9.2.0.1

9.2.0.8 - by patch 10404530 we can direct upgrade to 11.2.0.3

Once again, you will have need to install 11.2.0.3 (if t is now available for Windows) in an another ORACLE_HOME.

    >
    >

Dear Srini kindly varify what above and let me know where can I get the .sql scripts I mentioned above.

    Concerning
    Hamid

All this looks and feels unnecessarily complicated. An easier approach would be to perform a full export of 8.0.4 and uninstall the 8.0.4 Oracle software. Then upgrade the operating system as needed, install 11.2.0.3 (or 11.2.0.2) and perform a full import. A 20 GB database is really small and your window of 48 hours should be plenty. I would recommend that practice you all the steps on a server to test if possible.

  • Migration from JSP to Facelets

    Hello

We have an old application based on JSP that we like to migrate to JSF and Facelets.
A phase 1, we decided to let the JSPS as intact as possible, but the use of JSF and Facelet templating mechanism is established.
So the question is, how can we keep the contents of the JSP page for a first step and use it in a part of the model, for example the ui composition of 'content '?
I found a few articles on the General transition for Facelets, but I have problems with the details, in particular, how to deal with all this Java Code in < %... % > blocks?

    Thanks in advance,
    Geziefer

You can not. Its as simple as that. Your migration path will be as follows:

    -Remove all code scriptlet)< %%d="" ko.="" à="" la="" place="" faire="" les="" choses="" dans="" la="" fève="" de="" soutien="">
-translate all JSP pages for facelets pages of content. Generally this will include also translate the HTML content to XHTML content.

It is not difficult, but it's a lot of work. Are you sure you want to do this? Maybe you should just let it be and instead do next project without JSPs.

    Hello

Normally, if you have a single database in a version and you want to be converted to be CARS in another version, you can do the following:
    1. backup the database.
    2. install the binary files for the new version in the single database
-install 11 GR 2 as stand-alone (ASM already there, you just create binary RDBMS House)
3 level stand-alond database from the old version to the new version.
    -update of 10.2 to 11.2
check the 251.1 Note for more details on the upgrade and the checklist
    4. after the upgrade, go from the single-phase cars using following link:
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/install.112/e10813/cvrt2rac.htm (for Linux)
-of course check your platform link

Then you'll your updated database upgraded to CARS in the new version.

Hope this give you some good advice. Good luck.

  • Forms of migration from 2.0 to Forms 10 g / 11g

    Hello

    I want to migrate from Forms 2.0 to 10 g / 11 g. I know that the migration path is 2.0 - > 4.5-> 6i-> 10 g / 11 g. I want to know is - it possible to make the migration from 2.0 to 10g / 11g. What are the recommendations.

    Thank you and best regards,
    Noman

One consideration is that your 2.0 Forms using #EXEMACRO (brings it all back) and I do not think that it is all taken care Forms 10g (both in the generator of reports or in run mode) - you will definitely need of rewrite which in pl/sql. It depends on how the application is great (I guess) and whether it's worth just re-written from scratch.

I have never seen this as a requirement on this Forum in 12 years, being a member... so you pouvez be yourself here.

Personally, if it can be re-written, I re - write and take advantage of modern features of Forms10g.

  • Studio of migration in environments

EIS had / has the possibility to export the diagrams and other objects of study of environmental impact in the form of XML files that can be used to migrate environments.

Studio has no such thing (or if this is the case, I do not see it).

The docs talk about migration, but it is the study of environmental impact at the Studio. LCM, tantilizingly, shows the Studio, but when I click on it I get a "user is not allowed for action." Has my id every Studio commissioning is here.

I can see a migration path, sort, which implies the movement of a database full schema/database (Oracle/SQL Server) from one environment to another and then plunge into the tables to change the references to servers, rights, etc.. I have not tried because it reminds me of the migration of planning pre-11 and they hurt.

The approach described above is documented anywhere?

Will there be a way to migrate from development to production?

If there is, wonderful. After this good news, is it possible to selectively migrate an object or series of objects?

    Kind regards

    Cameron Lackpour

Can you say 11.1.1.2? As I understand it, the Studio dev team has added this feature (and much more) in the next version. I have not tried, but I bet you could migrate the repository and then go into data sources and change the connection information without changing the name. Who would preserve all of your minischemas, models, etc. If you only want to migrate a model, it would be a greater pain.
