All Documents and files of Desktop/shortcuts will miss - restore but still - missing but the properties of the folder indicates the used disk space

I use Windows Vista Home Premium.  I am the only user and gave me administrative prvileges.

I was working on my computer when I decided to look at some of my data to the application.  I have come to C:\Users\MYPROFILE but don't see the AppData folder.  However, all my other files were there (office, Documents, etc.).  I have a click with the button right on my profile and click on the attributes Hidden and hit apply.  He took a few moments he went through all folders of files (you can tell by when it indicates the size).

After this happened, I tried to go back in C:\Users but my profile was gone.

I restarted and when the office came, all my desktop files had disappeared and the shortcut to IE.  When I click on my profile, it was empty with the exception of the default folders.  All default folders were empty of all my data.

I did a restore system a few days ago and my profile came, but it was always empty.  However, when I go to c:\users and right click on my profile and press properties, it shows size 11.5 GB as well as the creation date of February 17, 2009 (which is correct).  However all my data are still missing.  Any ideas?

Display your user folder by deleting a hidden file attribute can be set on the access property page when you right click on your user folder.  Let the net of new low for subfolders and files not hidden attribute when the option is available to you.

To see the hidden files and system under normal circumstances, go to control panel / Folder Options / view and uncheck both options so that they are visible.  This is not your main problem, however, you must remove the attribute hidden in your user folder.

  • Need to backup all programs and files without the System Image

    Hi all

Recently, I myself in a dilemma. I installed 4 additional disks with the intention of creating a RAID volume supported by the BIOS. To do this, I need to change the BIOS setting of the controller which includes all the volumes, including my boot drive (that I don't intend to RAID). The problem I have is that when I pass the UEFI to RAID controller, Windows Recovery will not use the System Image I did. He said that the volume was created under a different arrangement (Bios vs. EFI).

What are my options? Is there a different backup setting, which allows to keep all my installed software? I am not concerned with the data that I can copy it to an external volume, but it would take several days to get all of my software reinstalled. I would like to avoid this. I guess I'll have to reinstall Windows Pro 8.1 and then use a backup program to restore everything. If this is the case, then I need to know which backup program will work. If there is a better way, I would like to know. I see my options in the form, get another backup program, get a map of controller for the boot drive or the RAID volume or just reinstall.

    Hello

I want to make a directory tree, including all directories and files to another location, but keep the last part of the sourcepath directory

    Robocopy \\server\share\sourcepath \\server\share\destpath *. * / S/MOV /COPY:DAT - ok, but retains the internal directories

    Robocopy \\server\share\sourcepath \\server\share\destpath *. * / S/MOVE /COPY:DAT - ok, but also moves sourcepath. I want to keep this directory

    Robocopy \\server\share\sourcepath \\server\share\destpath *. * / S/MOVE /XD sourcepath /COPY:DAT - /XD has no effect, same as above

Is there a way I can move all of the files and directories within the \sourcepath, but to keep the sourepath directory?

    Kind regards

I have deleted all THE files in my libraries FCPX rendering but have still 1.5 TB of unidentifiable used disk space. I don't have FCPX libraries on my 3 TB external drive. The total size of my libraries is 650 GB (when I add up the individual), but when I click on read the information for the reader, it says that I use 2 100 GB! It does not show that everything is on the disk. I went in each library individually in FCPX and deleted all THE files of rendering.  Reducing the total size of several concerts, but there are still almost 1 500 GB difference.

I tried to copy all libraries on another drive and they occupy only 650 GB (with no unidentifiable used disk space). I'm a bit confused.  Someone at - it ideas?  I would like to release 1.5 TB that starting to use the new hard disk with only 650 GB and reformat the drive, but if there is some kind of hidden, important files on the original drive as FCPX needs to work properly I won't ruin the hundreds of hours I spent on editing. The Windows.old subfolder contains all of the files from a previous installation of Windows. If you copied all your personal data of the user subfolder of windows.old. Then, it is safe to delete.

    BuggyG,
I saw that error and even if it says access denied it will actually save your changes.  After you disable all move forward and apply then restart and see if it kept the changes.  If it's not then I hope that you are able to borrow a disc it would in time look for resettlement. • Management of the backup history file using disk space

    Original title: file history

I have a HD 500 GB partitioned into two 250 GB drives. One contains Windows 8.1, the other contains Windows 7. I recently ran history of files on the disc 8.1 and it is now complete. I also ran the Windows 7 disk backup and it is also now full. Where can I find these backups and delete files? Most urgent concern is Win 8.1 because I added just the update and was about to move everything to the new OS and player, that I am now unable to do. Looking forward to getting help earlier. Thank you

    Hello

I understand that your backup disk is saturated on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.  Here are links that will help you manage the backup disk space:

Also, the Windows 8.1, you can use file history cleaning to remove older Versions of files. Follow these steps:
    a. open the Control Panel (display the icon) and click on the file history.

    b. on the left of the file history window, click avancΘs.

    c. under the link of section, click on the cleaning of the versions of Advanced settings .

    d. in the drop-down menu, select the exact age that you want to remove the versions of files and records, then click Cleans toward the top.  Follow the instructions on the screen.

  • In the use of space Audit why are my fonts such a large percentage of the total size of the file?

In the use of space Audit why are my fonts such a large percentage of the total size of the file?

4 MB of an interactive file 6 MB (71% of the total file size).

    I'm only using Verdana.

In this case the problem is not one of the fields have the police other than Helvetica. All fields are buttons, and all use the Verdana font in their appearances (icons), as opposed to their labels (aka Legend). This is how InDesign works when it generates the appearance for the buttons. As a result, that Verdana is incorporated several times as a subset, more than 300 times, once by button. This includes a lot of overhead, so that you get the size of large file.

It would be much smaller than that you need to add buttons in Acrobat, even if you've used Verdana. In this case, the entire police would get embedded, but only once. It would take more work, but the process can be automated, if you need to do this sort of thing a lot.

  • All Documents and the missing photos after a system restore, what happened, and how can I recover my files?

    Hello
All of my documents and photos are missing after a system restore. Here's the story. A virus called "Windows Recovery" popped up earlier and I did a system restore to get rid of him. To restart the computer, all my files and photos were missing. I used the system restore in the past in similar situations and have never had any problems. I opened MS Office, and I found some documents in the recent documents list. They open up fine and I saved them, but is only some of the documents. I can find the files in my documents when I do a search on them, but they are empty, when I open them. I also find some pictures and documents when I do a search for them by name, but I remember only a few file names, so I can't retrieve many files this way.

Can someone help me out here? Thank you
