Allowing students to multiple attempts to answer a question

Greetings,

I created a questionnaire multiple choice which has three questions, a correct and two distractors.

The quiz works very well as long as you choose the correct answer on your first attempt. If you select either the two wrong answers, the quiz slide "will automatically advance" before you had a chance to select another response. If it is possible to return to the question slide, I would like to than the participant to have at least four attempts to do this just before the quiz slide "advance auto.

With respect to the installation program, the question are defined to allow four attempts before the failure

. I also tried to put the measures in case of failure to 'no action', but this has absolutely no effect.

The same way setting doesn't seem them preferences to display 'back button' to work.

I would be very grateful for any help that anyone could give.

Kind regards

Cameron

Yes. That is right.

Now that I know that you use the advanced option, I would say that it is the question.

  • Is it possible to answer a question in a quiz-unlimited page without leaving the quiz page?

    Hello together!

We work with quiz-pages in our Adobe Captivate project. In the menu quiz, we can choose unlimited attempts to answer the question as often as possible. In HTML, if the answer was wrong, there is no way to answer the question once again, without leaving the page, go to the next page and then return to the page of the quiz. We seem not to understand each other? In Captivate 9, you must verify knowledge slides, which, unlike the normal Question slides never will be added to the score because you can even add a note to these slides. In earlier versions, you had to tweak quiz slides to convert slides to check knowledge simulated by removing their score on the Total score.

  • Listen to the audio before answering a question

    Hi all

I'm new to the forum. I am Hanneke, a Dutch designer of (sorry for my bad English) instruction for the moment works with a free trial to explore® Captivate® 5. I've never worked in earlier versions. I'm fast and a lot about the apprenticeship program, but still struggling with some points. One of them I post here:

I have a few question slides (all kinds). Some of the slide contains an audiofile which students have to listen before answering the questions. I don't want to click immediately students response (listen to the entire audio). When I tried it myself that I can easily fill some answer, press the submit button and go to the other, without listening to the audio. How can I avoid this? Perhaps by adding an advanced action? Is it is for example possible to say the response to buttons "wait for the audio ends" or something? However I have no experience in the script . I hope someone can help...

    Thank you.

Rick, did translate the Dutch part?

  • Tracking number of attempts to correctly answer a question of MC

I have a number of MC and T/F questions where I need to track the number of attempts it takes for a user to answer the question correctly. The T/F is easy because I am only allowing 1 attempt, so I can check to a pass/fail. However, the questions of MC allow 2 attempts. If a user he responds correctly, I need to know if it was the 1st or 2nd time and it seem not to be a way to track it (not that I can find).

I created 2 user variables for each question, the answer choice 1 and 1 for the tests, but he doesn't seem to be a way to fill until attempts maximum has been reached that defeated the whole purpose.

There must be a way to fill a meter of attempts until the maximum has been reached. Of course, Captivate is followed that somewhere, but I can't find a system variable that seems to fit.

I am tracking also attempts to quiz and need to aggregate the question through the quiz attempts total attempts, but let's first. I'll be happy to get information of attempts to question once at this stage.

    I use 8 Captivate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello and thanks for responding.

I am aware of the events that I have to use the quiz questions, I just regret the fact that, while in captivity titles nicely your attempts to answer for you so that you can add different success and failure of the options, there is no easy way to retrieve this info.

I figured out how to track attempts to question without having to change the number of attempts on the issues of choice of MC, so I kept the 2 attempts. I had to create a lot of variables and some cases rather complex statements multiple decisions for success and failure to do so, however.

Now 'all' I have to do is double what effort each quiz attempt, which will not be very easy because I am already bypassing the default of Captivate built to go to the 1st question quiz on the recovery and I have many other customization on some slides that must be taken into account with subsequent attempts to quiz. Once I got that all together, I'll be happy to share, even if it will take a lot of screenshots!

  • Go to the next slide, until you answer the question correctly

I use Adobe Captivate 6 and I'm creating a quiz that if students continue to next slide, they need to answer this question correctly.

    Here's my setting.

    Quiz Setting 2.jpgQuiz Setting 1.jpg

After above adjustment, when I reached this quiz, it did not continue. and then I answer incorrectly and then click on send, it shows that I have answered wrongly. Then I click on the next button, it allows me to go to the next slide. I guess I can't do that. May I know if the setting is correct? Thank you!

Subscribe to the required option. Since you have endless attempts, user will not be able to get unless it provides a correct answer. And you didn't hide the next button, which means that it can not move. But I think it's a bad idea to allow navigation back, because when a user navigates back, the next button is not there, so it will totally get stuck.  And if you want to allow the review, you need the following button as well. And you don't hide the PlayBar, which means that the user can ignore the questions.

I would reset the option you want on optional. Then hide PlayBar in Quiz and cannot move backward. Drag the next button under the clear button if you want the ability to review, but I suspect that this is not the case because you show slide of Score, which means that you won't have the review function.

  • I need an app that interacts with the user... user answers a question, app indicates correct or not. Is this possible with DPS?

I'm a provider of publication for an educational publisher. Customer wants to allow students to test and receive feedback on their answers within the app. Also, the client wants to receive the responses made by the student to measure progress through the "book."

    Is this possible with DPS?

It must be created with HTML.

  • Why not the customer answer my questions

I sent support of services and the client twice today.  The first time last Thursday, but no response despite their promise of a response within hours.

My organization will not open port 80, so I need to know where Captivate 4 reviews before loading when on the network.  If Captivate 4 is not on a network by default to download from the internet at the beginning upward.  However if you are on a network there a good 5 min delay why Captivate 4 trying to access a site through port 80.  I asked a technical support and service to the customer but no response.  When I know where Captivate tries to go to that my business will allow me to filter on port 80.

Why not the customer answer my questions

    Hello

I am at a total loss to explain why the customer is not answering your question.

Have you tried to ask your IT people perhaps judicial investigations? I think that if Captivate attempts to communicate on port 80 that is sort of "calling home" to an Adobe web address any.

I hope that get you it sorted! Rick

  • Delay feedback for multiple choice - 9 Captivate quiz questions

    Hello

Captivate 9, is there a way to delay your comments on responses to answer until the quiz is completed which is at the stage of the examination?

Captivate 9 by default is to show comments for each question immediately after the student has answered the question. It is not appropriate for my needs.

    Thanks and regards,

    Grant Bailey

If I understand what you wanted? Have you used one of the scenarios to have feedback not appearing does not immediately? My only explained methods how to 'hide' the immediate feedback.

This 'new' question: Yes, can be done, but you will need to use shared (or advanced) actions to raise the event to enter for each slide of the questionnaire.  It will be a lot of work, you will need to store the answer to each question slide (at least for the wrong answers) in a user variable. This answer will be in the cpQuizInfoAnswerChoice quiz system but variable is a variable system reused. You must prepare your various comments text containers (for every possible situation) which are hidden initially, but indicated on the questionnaire slide when in playback mode. This can be done with a conditional action checking the cpInReviewMode system variable (Boolean, has a value of 1 when it is in playback mode).

  • How to make a slide to wait until the user has answered a question correctly, even after activation of a smartshape?

    Background:

I created a questionnaire in which the user must answer each question correctly before to proceed to the next slide. That's what I did:

    • Set preferences Settings > required > respond to everything - the user must answer each question to continue
    • Set the number of attempts at the level of the question to infinity
    • Made the Next invisible button and disabled the PlayBar

In this way, the user can proceed to the next slide in the issue with the submission process - and, since attempts are endless, this means that after having answered the question correctly.

    Current objective:

I want the user to be able to click on a prompt for a hint. To configure this, I did the following:

    • Created a smartshape titled 'click_for_hint' to display the text that says: "click here for a tip.
    • Created a smartshape labelled 'hint' text display
    • Show "hint" success value "click_for_hint".

Now, when the user clicks on the text that says: "Click here for a hint," the suspicion appears. So it works - great! However, once the indicator is activated, I would like to for the user to continue endless attempts until respondent correctly to the question... and then only after answering correctly, proceed to the next slide.

    The problem:

If the user has submitted one or more wrong answers, and then activates the indicator, the slide just waiting until the user has answered the question correctly. Instead, it will be set in playing, proceeding to the next slide. I tried the smartshape 'hint' to take a break on the success of adjustment, but it does not work.

Is there a way to make the slide to wait until the answer to the question correctly before moving on to the next slide, even after the indicator has been activated?

Are you aware that your required parameter can cause problems, the blocking of the user? It is also completely useless because you have unlimited attempts at the level of the issue and hid the next button (hope, you don't need review, otherwise, I would recommend not to hide this button but slide it under the Clear key: the Question slides in Captivate - Captivate blog)

The index problem is related to the fact that a simple gesture going out of reading. I would like to see the timeline of the slide, to compare the points of suspension form and the question slide button. And maybe this blog can also clarify difference between simple/advanced: Why choose Standard Simple action?-Captivate blog

Regarding the buttons on question slides form: buttons on slides of Question/Score of Captivate 6?-Captivate blog

  • Jump backwards and forwards without answer to question

Questions that I get sometimes; when im using the button back on reading control without answering a question and return back to the question, it won't allow me to answer the question (get a message, "You have not answered this question". There are some users who need to play back and forth. Is it a bugs or some set up I have to do?

Personally I have even shut down the PlayBar totally during the transition to the first slide of the Question. This can easily be done by assigning the value 0 (zero) for the cpCmndShowPlaybar system variable when entering the first question slide (does not exist in the Action on the list of slides to enter) and eventually turn after the slide of score or the last slide in the question.

Be sure to not remove the back button, but cut the movement back in Quiz preferences and agree to have the rear buttons automatically deleted. Because if you remove them manually on the slides, they could reappear magically...
