  I've contacted the ZTE ebay store and for about 2 weeks, came and went with things to try. Nothing helped, and they end by had me send the phone back and sent me a replacement.

  The new phone is still the old version of the operating system, but at least it works.

• Softbricked ZTE C open after flashing v1.4 Gecko & Gaia

  Not-very-happy user of ZTE C opened here.
  It happened as follows:
  I downloaded the embedded firmware of comebuy.com.
  The main reason was to install Russian keyboard, that I managed to do in building and flashing Gaia.
  The Gaia was branch v1.4, and some applications do not work properly (camera & keyboard, in particular).
  Then I made the fatal mistake, it seems--rather than return to the v1.3, I decided to build & flash v1.4 Gecko. Almost everything has worked except that I hit a bug where the SIM card wasn't working at first but the flight mode switch & stop fixed the situation. However, after a restart, the screen just off right after the boot of the fox image display. At this point, the system always started in normal mode, so I tried to recompile Gaia again and on-camera flash. And then only the recovery mode became available =.

  Then, I tried various things, and the current state is:

  • modes of recovery & bootloader works
  • updates cannot be applied, fail with "E: signature verification failed" for the rooted and official firmware
  • fastboot flash does not work, printing the message "FAILED (distance: flash write failure)" whenever
  • ADB shell does not work - everything first, it has been barking on bad permissions (-exec "/ system/bin/sh" has no permission denied (13)), by now, I deleted the partition/system altogether using fastboot because adb push printed an error message on any space left on the device, and I thought that maybe helps erase some of the partitions (it was too naïve way I confess...)

  Now, I return to the firmware of origin, either from site Internet ZTE or comebuy.com. The more appropriately seem to apply an update to the recovery mode, but the failure of the audit must somehow be circumvented.

  Any thoughts?

  OK, I was able to unbrick it. My main problem was that I deleted the system partition, which created additional problems.

  A few facts:

  • fastboot flash actually works, but he is unable to send large files (the limit seems to be around 300 M in my case) and after unplugging the unit while the process of fastboot is sending State, I had to change the port and reboot the machine. using the same port or do not restart led to write failures for some reason any

  So, the steps that have helped me are:

  1. Download and unzip it update.zip, boot bootloader by pressing power + volume keys
  2. Check out the "file_contexts' of the boot.img and recovery.img file
  3. create or use the existing system / update.zip directory, if there is a problem with sending large files on the device (as in my case), you can keep only lib /, bin /, build.prop file - which makes for simple ~ 50Mb; or maybe even just build.prop, I didn't try that
  4. create the directory system.img, using the command line ' make_ext4fs-l < size in MB > M - a system if file_contexts system.img < directory with system / files > '
  5. the on-camera flash: fastboot flash system system.img - now that there will be no problem of nonexistent /system/build.prop when applying updates
  6. Then, run 'fastboot boot recovery.img"where the recovery.img is from the extracted zip file
  7. Finally, apply the update via ADB or SD

  I tried to save JPEG images after making a few changes to Photoshop CS4. For each file, I get the message "cannot save (file name) because the file is already in use or left open."   If Photoshop says that the file is opened - then some external process left the file open. It has nothing to do with it being open in Photoshop, or even in the bridge. This sometimes happens when Spotlight had bugs (who came more than once and been corrected in versions of dot operating system).

  The external process could be another application or service to OS like Spotlight.

  After all, I contacted the seller and he gave me the link to download FFOS (one related by Ralph Daub didn't work for some reason any). After installing FFOS, it recognizes my phone C OPEN, so I guess it's one of those Chinese mysteries, I never really understand.

  I understand that you tried to update your open C of ZTE eBay using the image on the page Comebuy, but that the update seems to have been unsuccessful.

  I suggest you try to redownload your image and go through the update process once more.

  If the problem persists, you will need to contact ZTE for extra support. ZTE is the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) who created the device-specific construction and update tools.

  OK, I'm answering this question myself because I was finally able to reproduce a bug of wallpaper until it has set.

  I have a collection of LAAAARGE music and videos in 2, both ALWAYS connected external HARD disk to my PC, and that becomes a real problem is that whenever I open WMC, it loads my libraries, but start "counting" my songs one by one and it never end! Makes my slow WMC! Sometimes I have to wait 4 o 5 minutes until I'm able to choose a song for the game!   I had a similar problem with the ZTE open running v1.1. I was not using Gmail, but my own IMAP provider. It turned out that my desktop e-mail client (Thunderbird for Mac OSX) created a strange trash where it shouldn't have been. Once I deleted this file, the phone worked again.

  You use a desktop e-mail client? Make sure you check the settings IMAP, especially how map you your trash folder on the desktop. Make sure that you store your messages deleted on the server.

  This is what solved the problem for me, and I stopped using Thunderbird.
