Hello

Is not supported by us, but yes, it can be done without driver conflicts.

I have a Pavillion DV9000, AMD Turion 64 x 2 processor and the Nvidia GeForce 8400 M GS chip.   I had all sorts of problems (BSOD, no boot, etc.).  Finally disposing of the BONES and a complete refresh of Vista Home edition.  Shortly after (30 minutes) - the system has crashed with a video driver error.

If it goes again and felt the botoom of my laptop - real hot... so now I tell myself, I have an overheating problem.  I installed a gift called "Core Temp" to monitor my time and raised the back legs of the laptop to get a few more blood circulation.  Also used compressed air to ensure that all fins were clean.

    My heart #0 is running between 49 c - 58

    My #1 core is running between 52c - 61c

I can't find anything on the site of HP to tell me whether or not it is within the 'normal' range.

Grateful for the help there... normal?  or too hot?

The longer, the better... the alternative is a new laptop.  I use it just for home use, so nothing too taxing.  It works really well at the moment.   I'm just trying to keep it this way.

    1. I have tried search not found. I need sm bus controller now after reinstalling XP. HP´s bios update did not work. Could you help her?

    2. I tried memory update. 2 x 1 GB pc2700 sodimm 200pin ddr333mhz. With works that one, but with others gives me 'blue screen '. Broken memory or is it just too much for this old repairman?

We need to know the exact model number to be sure, but I'll assume that you have the AMD of the zv5000 version. I've owned one for 2 years some time, so I am very familiar with the big beast. For some reason any HP does not have the available chipset driver that is necessary for the bus SM work properly. It's the nVidia nForce3 chipset that is somewhat difficult to find online, but I found it for you:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce3_winxp_5.11.html

Regarding the memory you seem to have a bad stick because I can confirm that the system will operate 2 GB of RAM and it takes DDR333 2 x 1 gig modules. The graph is nvidia GeForce 4 440 or 420 Go 32 or 64 megs, not AMD (ATI), if you have the AMD processor.

  • Fonts suddenly stripped - looks like I'm missing font setting West...

All of a sudden, my default font is smaller, paler and harder to read. It changes in tools-> Options-> content-> fonts & colors does nothing.

After searching for which need to be addressed, everything seems OK, BUT miss me the selection of 'Western' in the "fonts for:" drop-down menu and I am missing the 'Western (ISO-8859-1)' selection in the menu drop-down "default character encoding".

I still have the West selection in the view-> list menu drop-down character encoding. However, she maintains herself swinging back on Unicode even if I turn to the West.

I guess this setting West missing is the cause of my problem. Fonts look good in Internet Explorer, so I don't think that there is a problem with the fonts on my computer in general.

Advice is appreciated, because whatever the police it's by default after the Western missing parameter is very squeaky on the eyes.

Hi, this is probably caused by kb3013455 of update from microsoft that can cause problems of rendering fonts on vista:

After you have installed the 3013455 security update, you may notice a degradation in quality of text in some scenarios. The problem occurs only on systems running Windows Vista SP2 or Windows Server 2003 SP2. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

    Reference: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3013455

an option may be to tackle this particular update for now until there is a fix from microsoft or you could also look at if there is a graphics driver update available on the Web site of the seller (intel/amd/nvidia) which could also be solved this problem in some cases.

    Hello

The Intel graphics chip, which is part of the central unit should be used for low performance applications, because it allows you to save energy and reduce the internal temperature.

For best performance while game, it s advisable to use the external GPU (nVidia or AMD)
This setting can be changed in the nVidia control panel s

Here, you should choose manage them 3D settings (can be found on the left in the nVidia control panel)

Now in the main window, you will find two global settings and program parameters tabs
In the program settings tab, select the (game) program that needs to use the nVIdia GPU

If it is not listed, click the Add button
Then choose the graphic processor preferred for this program (generally must be nVidia processor high performance)

Last but no less, in this program-specific settings, you can assign additional features to improve performance.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 6b51ea: GPU stuck at Intel, AMD GPU has stopped working

    A year ago, I received a notification of the CCC AMD the driver update and did. Since then, the 7400 m has stopped working and still did not so after;

    (a) rolling back drivers

    (b) reinstall the drivers from the HP website

After some research I found that the discrete GPU in HP laptops only works with the drivers offered by HP, but those who fail to solve the problem of too.

Thanks for your help, very much appreciated a response.

Assuming that I am in a bind.

HP should not make laptops for gamers or those who buy specifically for the use of the dedicated GPU, if they cannot upgrade their GPU drivers dedicated by the manufacturer of this GPU IMO.

Sister with a DV6 bought with my DV7 (2012) was lucky, I tried the update before she accepted AMD update notification

Thx for any help at all

    Greetings,

I'm running an EVGA GTX 960 4 GB SCcard in a 810-150se desire. Not exactly the same motherboard as yours.

This PC (810) was built in November 2013 and UEFI BIOS. Your PC is most recent. The 810-150se sport PCIe 2.0 PC so the new EVGA card is backward compatible and works fine.

I made sure that all previous Nvidia software and drivers have been uninstalled before installing the new card. This process, surprisingly, took about seven or eight uninstall and restarts until all previous versions of the Nvidia software had disappeared. Maybe it's not the case when moving from AMD, Nvidia, which removes several versions of the AMD software and drivers before installing the new graphics card.

Also disabled the start safe and active start inherited in the EFI (BIOS) before installing the new graphics card.

    See you soon

This isn't a mistake. This is just an informational message. It's just saying you that you do not have the equipment needed to use a specific feature. Don't worry; This is a feature that you have almost no reason to worry - the traced the beam 3D rendering engine. There are many superior ways to do 3D in After Effects without using this feature. • Compaq Presario C700 CTO - blue screen drivers/events/mode RAID or AHCI?

    Hello

I need to know if my PC Compaq Presario C700 CTO Notebook is running in RAID or AHCI mode because of problems with a driver Intel Matrix Storage Manager (IMSM).  The Read Me text file in the menu start > all programs > intel Matrix Storage Manager folder said if my system works in RAID or AHCI mode determines if my computer needs this driver.

For the past month, my computer stops and restarts with a blue screen and message when the desktop appears as a message. (The blue screen does not last long enough to read.)  The message is always the same except one I had yesterday which is described at the end of this post.

"Windows has stopped unexpectedly. '.  The details are:

    Signature of the problem:

    A solution:

Problem with the Intel IMSM driver.

Intel IMSM driver has stopped working properly.

Press or click on to download the update on the site of ASUS computer.

I several times installed upgrading after the blue screen event ever.  The download is an application called V8.9.2.1002_logo_Win7Vista3264.exe.

The Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver is not in the list of devices in Device Manager > show hidden devices.  I found information on the HP site indicating how do I know if my computer has the driver, because I thought that maybe it has not been installed correctly.  I found the Intel Matrix Storage Manager program folder in the start menu > new programs.  I can't know what version it is.  Reading tells Me to text file in the folder to open the Device Manager and search for specific controllers SATA RAID and SATA AHCI controllers.  If not in the list then it appears that my OS is not running in two modes.  I can't find these devices in the list, but the Read Me text file advises me to contact the manufacturer in case of doubt.  My warranty has expired, so I'm here asking for help.

When I use the HP product detection analysis to try to automatically scan for driver updates, it reads my product incorrectly.   Running the tool has sometimes followed by a crash and blue screen.

I do not remember the changes that I made at the time when the events of the blue screen started to happen.  There was an event yesterday blue screen and the message on the desk said a problem with the HP Recovery Manager and backup.   He advised me to install an update from the HP website.  The link did not open so I downloaded the version 4.0.100.1189sp39296.exe of HP update.  I've also updated my graphics driver.

I would be grateful if someone could help me solve this problem.   I'm worried about damaging my computer.

    Hello:

First of all your needs from laptop to have the hardware (CPU and chipset) Intel to run the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

Your C700 CTO may have either hardware Intel or an AMD/Nvidia chipset so I can't tell you what your laptop has.

You can tell however, and you can tell what mode of the controller to your PC is currently running (AHCI or RAID).

If you have PC, go into the Device Manager and if you have a category of an ATA/ATAPI IDE controller based on an Intel processor, click to expand that and if your laptop is running in AHCI mode, the controller will have the AHCI word in the description of the controller.

If your mobile phone is set to RAID (which I doubt), scroll down further on the Device Manager list, and there would be a category of storage controllers if the command is set to RAID.

Click to expand, and you would see a description of disk with the word inside RAID controller.

  • XPS 8500 card video, power, upgrades

I see several threads looking for upgrades XPS 8500 graphics card that can be used with the stock PSU 460w or improved power supply.   However, in upgrading the GPU for this machine, there are a few cards that are not compatible and will result in a black screen.    Even with a correct video card installation, an appropriate power supply and/or upgrade video card fans are going to work, but there is no video.   The problem lies in the BIOS to 8500 XPS motherboard does not recognize the video card and it is a known issue that has carried over from the XPS 8300 to the current XPS 8500.

There was a video BIOS updates of some card manufacturers to fix this problem for some cards, but there are many old maps that do not work.  The safest bet would be to use a new card with the PCI 3.0 specifications.

In the sticky in this forum, a link to the current Dell drivers shows the following video cards that support drivers for Windows 8:

    Video

    GeForce GT 545 | GTX660 | GTX555 | GeForce GTS450 | GeForce GTX 590 | GeForce GTX 460 | GTX680 | GeForce GTX 580. GeForce GTX 560 Ti | GTX 480 | GTX690 http://downloads-us.dell.com/FOLDER00753042M/3

Since it's cards Dell OEM that are supported, there are also specific questions from manufacturer where a given video card model may or may not work according to its configuration.  Considering that an XFX HD 6870 will work in the XPS 8500, the same map made by another manufacturer may not work.

Please consider this when you do upgrades of the PSU and GPU and, hopefully, BIOS upgrades in the future will answer these questions.

It would be useful if you have a SPECIFIC card that does or does not, to indicate the manufacturer and the model number full in this thread.

Operating system information and the Bios would be also useful, and if you use the power SUPPLY Dell or a block upgrade of power.  Specific model please!

    Edit:

Please include following and other useful information

Manufacturer number and model of graphics card:

    BIOS:

    Operating system:

Power supply manufacturer otherwise Dell 460w PSU:

    Compatible: Yes or no

Original card with the system that has worked:

I just installed a GTX 970 in my Dell XPS 8500 with questions for the first time.

    It's pieces:

    • Updated my XPS 8500 Motherboard Bios to version "A12" while you wait for my parts arrive
    • EVGA NVIDIA GTX 970 Superclocked Graphics Card (EVGA 04 G-2974-KR)
    • EVGA SuperNOVA 750B 1 750W power supply (PSU) (110-B1-0750-VR)

Note that I have chosen the 'Return of the fan' version of the card, rather than the version dual fan ATX 2.0.  This is because the design of the housing of the 8500 XPS is not 'Great' traffic.   The style of 'Référence' (shell solid video card with a single fan - which pulls air from the case in... and vents at the rear of the PC) is better suited to the XPS.

Put a new power supply in a Dell XPS 8500 is a little something.   All ATX power supplies were about the same height and width (150mm or 5.09 ") and (86mm or 3.38").    The problem is the depth.   How deep into your PC can reach (extending to the back of your CD/DVD).   Don't forget, you have this tiny USB/headphone jack thing sunk to half way:

I did some steps and realized that MAX PSU depth that would work would be approximately 165mm or about 6.5 ".     It's difficult because I wanted a 750w power supply more power and its REALLY, REALLY hard to find good food slot with less than (180 mm/7.09 "").   And who didn't come home.

I have scoured every Watt 700 +, 80 + certified PSU carried by Newegg (from 01/12/2014).   Then, I checked cross the specs from newegg for each prospect with the manufacter to audit Web site.  I focused only on PSU at least 8 comments and then only if they have averaged a 3.5 rating (unless the low notes were for trivial things like discount).

After having looked up the plug on more than 200 of the PSU (over a period of 5 hours), I only came with 5 potential:

    • EVGA SuperNOVA 750B 1 $69.99
    • MARINE RX-1000AE 1000W $119.99
    • SeaSonic SS - 750KM 3 750W $139.99
    • CORSAIR AX series AX760 $159.99
    • Coolmax 1200W ZPG-1200 b $282,35

I also want to remind the reason why you MUST make sure that your power supply is 165mm or less in depth, and you can't say anything by looking at a a particular series.   Many unique models factory in a series which is just 'smaller '.   You have to look at the specifications of each individual model.

For example, all except a psu on 700 wats EVGA are (180 mm/7.09 po).  Only 750B 1 is about 165mm.   You will also see that he is a 'Bronze' rather than 'Gold' or 'Platinum' unit 80 +.    I suspect it's "BRONZE" side has something to do with the size.   I they omitted huge heat sinks and a little efficiency to achieve the reduction of 15mm in size.   The quality of the PSU is always more than enough for my needs, and the price can not be beat.

Now for the installation.   I won't say it was EASY to get the power supply into the case.  I had to unplug all my SATA power supply and cables.  I had to bend the cables on top of ATX case a little, and I had to be very patient reconnection.

I also had to reroute the wire connecting the top of the case to the Mini PCI (?) card slot.   I didn't honestly it only those who were (they sit behind the rear USB sockets on the motherboard), and they snap on with small quotes as the clichés about the Jeans.  I tried to not interrupt them (because they look fragile), but I accidentally their popped.   Thank God they fix on.  There are even small arrows above each terminal (a black solid, outline to indicate white) so get back you them on in the right order.

I found it very convenient for stuff a lot of cables in the vacuum "floppy" spot below the CD player.   I also found that I had to plug in the cables in a certain order - because some cables blocked the access to the terminals for others.   (SATA/Power to the CD player, for example is right behind UAP.  I had to do these first, because I would never get my fingers here if I saved that for the end).

Now for the pre-installation preparation.   I updated the BIOS to A12 and downloaded the installer for the GeForce drivers before moving on my hardware.

Driver Bios A12 two years ago, but they allowed detection of my GTX 970.  Someone asked me for the version of the drivers, so this is:

Dell XPS 8500 / Vostro 470 system BIOS
    A12. EXE
    Release date October 29, 2013
    Last updated October 31, 2013
    Version A12

As I said at the beginning, I was on the A09, but A12 is cumulative and takes you all the way (including all versions in the meantime).

I uninstalled all my old ATI drivers until I stopped the first time.  I did install the Geforce drivers until after I went on my hardware.  (I wanted just the installer on my desktop - ready and waiting).

Overall - it worked.  The map spans 2-4 "later in the case, but it fits.  The power supply is approximately 4 "away from the back of the CD, but it fits.   And it starts.

I just finished playing "Far Cry 4' on the Nvidia setting 2560 x 1080.   The new parameter (beyond ultimate) appeared after I plugged on the map.  I also played Assassins Creed Unity (which is what I chose as my free with the card game - since I already had 4 Far Cry).   The two seem to play 60 fps with no problems.

Because of the fan on the power SUPPLY and the evacuation from the rear video card, my machine works currently more cool now.

Hope that helps.   My total cost was about $435.  $349 for the card and $69 for the power supply (taxes extra).

    Sincere greetings,

    Andrew Russell

P.S. If you have questions about this weird brace to the right of the PSU...   I added a 3rd hard drive under the CD player.  There is only the 'Front holes' so I'm a little creative and put up one of the "PCI mounting plates" from an old ATX case.   I folded the right-hand curve and he the perfect length to attach as a cross tube to keep the hard drive in place.

The default font used on sites like Facebook, Craigslist, Google etc. has become much worse since the last update. It is much less clear, looks almost like a chop and transparent.
