AMD or Nvidia GPU? Support CUDA?

I'm building a Photoshop/Lightroom computer based on the processor i7 - 4770 K from Intel.

Are there still no CUDA support in Photoshop?

Choose an AMD GPU?

And finally, I think put in 32 GB of RAM. That is excessive or Photoshop can use this amount of memory or not?

Thank you?

Hi fetiflis,

NVIDIA or AMD should work for you.

32 GB of wont RAM overkill photoshop, but if the program can use a lot of memory or not depends on the type of installation you perform.

Thank you

I've just updated to 2015.3 CC PP (as well as Media Encoder) with the hope that CUDA would work again. Screens black and (unknown error) coding problems persist. Kre,

I also have one of these old GPUs, begins to have similar problems and feel that it is probably time to update the material on my side of things. As time passes, more there your material and these older NVIDIA GPU do not have enough power to formats that I want to use.

If I use open CL, I don't have these errors. What is the solution for non-traditional nVidia cards that encounter errors using CUDA, when encoding in Media Encoder? Is this one?

OpenCL even start to fail for my 650M now, even if my GPU is listed as recommended for OpenCL (but not CUDA). I have the feeling that your GPU should not be on the list of GPUs supported longer for CUDA.  Please use OpenCL until you can replace your existing GPU.

  • Why Nvidia GPU in the 900 series is not in the list of Adobe first Pro CC (2015) requirements?

I don't see any Nvidia GPU 900 series in the list of Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2015) system requirements

No idea why this phenomenon occurs? NVIDIA Quadro M4000 and M5000, which are based on the 970 and 980 chipsets are in this list.

Correct, although Maxwell CUDA used in the GPU Nvidia series 9000 is not officially supported by Premiere Pro, it works fine. As long as you own a card quite modern with at least 1 GB of VRAM, you should be able to activate this card in the settings dialog box of the project and after that you click on the warning message that your card has not been certified by Adobe, you can use GPU without any problem.

You can not. Supported GPU for 3D Raytrace requires an nVidia GPU. That said, this is a deprecated feature and will not be developed further, so better look for alternatives like learn how to use the Cineware or obtaining of plug-ins such as 3-d element.

  • Qosmio x 770: cannot read to revolution - how to switch to nVidia GPU

    HI :)

I come from Germany and my English is very bad, sorry.

I need help, because I want to play Worms: revolution on my Qosmio x 770 with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 M and it does not work.

This is the post coming from "support @ team17.

    Hey,.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems during the revolution of Worms. It seems that your computer is trying to run the game via the integrated Intel graphics card, rather than the dedicated Nvidia GeForce graphics card.

If you want to run the game through your dedicated graphics card, you will need to consult your computer manufacturers documents or instructions if you are unsure on how to do this, or if you do not have these documents, contact the manufacturer directly.

Unfortunately, we cannot directly provide you with instructions on how to proceed.

Hope this helps and thank you for your continued support,

    Hello

    Check out this youtube video:

You can assign any application to use the dedicated made Intel or nVidia GPU card.
This can be done in the nvidia Control Panel.

    1. click on start and then Control Panel. Select Classic view in the left side of the window.
    2. double-click on the NVIDIA Control Panel.
    3. click view, and then add the "Run with graphic processor" Option to the context Menu. Close the NVIDIA Control Panel.
    4. right click on the title of the application and select run with GPU. Then, click on NVIDIA processor high performance.

  • Y410P Nvidia GPU works only when plugged in?

    Hi all

I know that this is a frequently asked question, and I also knew that the Nvidia GPU raised only when an application heavy 3D graphics is charged.

This is the case. But I don't get a bad 3D rating (1 star or higher) during the game.

I have configured the program updated Nvidia 3D well on a level of high performance battery. The notification bar of Nvidia is also show that the game is loaded using the Nvidia GPU.

On the other hand, when the laptop is plugged in, I get a better mark 3D on the same game. How is that possible?

It is not comfortable, due to the fact that I need to plug the laptop when I want to play the game to get the best performance.

    All solutions? Thanks in advance.

Regardless of the number of parameters of high performance you activate, you will never get the same set of battery power that you can get plugged.

The battery can not simply support the GPU for the amount of power he needs to play games. At best, you can play a mediocre performance.

  • Satellite P875-102: how to choose nVidia GPU to run in battery mode

    Hi all

Displays the first time since a long time owner of laptop Toshiba.
Just bought a new P875-102, which I am very happy with (non - HD 1600 x 900 screen is the only downside).

In any case, I was wondering if there is a way to force the machine to use the graphics card from nVidia while on battery? Graphics performance through the floor when I unplug the power cable which leads me to believe that it is not through the nVidia card for the integrated Intel chip for low power.

I am aware that without a/c running nVidia card will limit my battery life, but I prefer to control this manually. The "eco mode" switch is fine for this.

The Setup is standard factory: Win7 x 64, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia GT 630 M GFX.

I checked the settings of the Intel and nVidia control panels and have done everything to use the nVidia card. I also checked under Win 7 power plan settings and everything put on max performance on battery.

I'm running out of ideas about where search - any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    > I was wondering if there is a way to force the machine to use the graphics card from nVidia while on battery?

Optimus technology automatically switches between the internal Intel HD gpu and nVidia GPU in order to save the battery.

But you can force and simple application to run and use the nVidia GPU.

  • HP Pavilion 15-ak011na: you are not currently using a screen attached to a nvidia gpu

I had the laptop for a week.

HDMI port stopped working last night.

I tried to run the nvidia Control Panel today and received the following message:

"you are not using a screen attached to a nvidia gpu"

I need a second monitor to work effectively.

Is that what the problem of ideas?

    See you soon,.

    Sean,

Edit: I've updated the BIOS and it is fixed.  God knows why.  I hope that's all and it will continue to work.

The updgrade BIOS seems to solve the problem of monitor because he is still working today.

He is allowed to make a BIOS upgarde is a new PC, but in general, manufacturers of motherboards do not recommend updated the BIOS unless it's giving questions.  Strange that the previous BIOS could cause such a problem...

If all goes well, he continues to work!

  • How to set up the Intel Graphics = battery / AC Power = nVIDIA GPU?

Right, so I formatted my laptop and reinstalled all the drivers Lenovo stocks to avoid headaches

I'm on a High Performance plan for the moment

What I want to do is... set the plan of the High Performance always use the nVIDIA GPU if I was connected to the power adapter or battery.

I also want to set the balanced plan to use the GPU nVIDIA while on AC power, but go to the Intel graphics card when I use the battery

How can I configure it that way?

    Thank you

Never mind, I just realized I can simply press the button located on the right side of the laptop to switch between graphics chipsets

  • problem with nvidia gpu

    Hello

    Yesterday I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 5937-2862 with NVIDIA gt740m gpu.

I have notcied that as a defect of the laptop uses the integrated intel hd4000, I searched the forum and confirmed that bios switchable option is enabled and I also changed the settings in the nvidia Control Panel to always use the nvidia gpu.

How will I know when I start a game that its really switched to nvidia gpu?

    Thanks in advance.

    There is a way.

Open NVIDIA Control Panel-> click on "Desktop" in the menu bar-> turn on "display GPU activity icon in Notification area".

Now, whenever your computer does not use dGPU there will be gray a rectangular icon in the Notification area, and it will turn color when dGPU is in use. When you click on it, a list of applications using dGPU opens.

BTW the GPU from Intel works well for anything but modern (say that after 2006) games. It's OK to use, because it saves energy, thus reducing heat and... increased autonomy and is more 'green '.
