analyze network traffic

Hi all

first of all, I want to say hello and that this forum was already a big help for me.

Unfortunately I could not find anything on how to analyze the network traffic on a blackberry device. It is possible to analyze the network (ip) traffic using an api (signed) java?

Something like an OutboundMessageListener for IP packets would be perfect. What I found was net.rim.device.api.system.RadioInfo.getNumberOfPacketsSent (), but I want to get the content of all sending packets (ip). Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

not possible, unfortunately.

  • Wireless - C6180 network traffic

    Product: Photosmart C6180 all-in-one

The printer has been set up wireless to share among 5 computers and works very well.  My concern is that the amount of traffic network the printer generates.

I analyzed the network traffic generated by my computer using Wireshark Analyzer (packet sniffer) network protocol.  Traffic is presented as a series of SNMP (from the computer) requests to the printer and the answers SNMP from the printer to the computer.  This status of probable reports in near real-time.

This isn't a problem, but I would like to discuss the volume of network traffic.  I see on request 20 and 20 responses per second for a single computer.  Request/responses start a port 1026 (sending a request and get an answer) then increment to the next port 1027 (request / response), increment to the port 1028 and continue.  This continues until it hits port 5000 then begins to port 1026.  About, through 4000 ports every 3 minutes.  Each request and response being about 100 bytes of information.

This traffic volume is normal?  It can be reduced?

I looked in the printer and the software congifurations to see if it can be reduced to a minimum and can not see a framework to reduce the traffic.

Well, I expected someone to complain about this. Also, I think that it is rare as well.

What you see, is the HP SW on each computer to the printer for admission to the status of vote. I think that changes of the PC port with each SNMP request but you should see that all SNMP packets going to port 161 printer and that the printer meets the port 161 originally PC port...

You'll also see shows SLP in 427 on the printer port as well (most used ARP and NETBIOS stuff).

To my dismay, this is normal (an old design in fact) and we are changing. Yes, it's a chatty Protocol but the bandwidth network should not be significant (using your numbers – I thought the refresh frequency was 1/3 Hz):

    5 computers * (20 packets/SNMP-s) = 100 packets/SNMP-sec * 200 bytes/SNMP-package (estimated) = 20000 bytes/s.

(Is this a lot on a 11g wireless network has a bandwidth of?)

The real problem occurs when you have a wireless network. Because UDP is not reliable, the SNMP get s/SNMP-response may be lost, especially on the airwaves. When this happens, the SW will attempt the request again, and after a series of delays, the HP SW will think the printer is offline.

Now to answer your original question: you can remove the most background traffic by disabling the HP printer services. You will still be able to print but the scan will not work. Another option is to uninstall the HP SW and manually add the printer in Control Panel. Unfortunately, this also gives you printing without analyzing.

    Hello

You have a Realtek Lan card?
If Yes, then you should contact the ASP in your country for a fix.

I had a similar problem with my card Realtek Lan on a Satellite A110. From time to time my system locked up for the big copy via the port LAN Realtek.
I talked to a local technician and he said to a patch.

Unfortunately, I put t know what he did, but after the update (or install the fix) I didn't noticed the same problem again.

So I recommend to contact the authorized service partner and request the hotfix.

    Hello

I appreciate the efforts to try to solve the problem. You might face this problem because corrupt or the network driver. You could also face this problem because of the incompatibility between the IP address. Please write us with the following details.

    1. What is the brand and model of your computer?

    2. You did it all changes to networking prior to this problem?

    3. Do you have an error message when you try to access the Internet using a browser?

I suggest you follow the steps below.

Method 1: Run the network troubleshooter utility.

  • total number of bytes of network traffic for a given period and given a vm guest

    Hello

I want to see the total number of bytes of network traffic a given virtual machine generates in a give period.

I think it's possible with a great metric but don't know how.

    Any help is welcome.

    Kristof

This is for vrops x 6

    1. create a metric configuration

    2. create a new dashboard with a list of objects and graphic metric

3 edit the object list widget, and the filter object type\Virtual Machines and save

    4. change the metrics graph and select the metric config that you created in step 1 in the metrix configuration box and save it

5 in Widget interactions select list of objects in the menu drop-down and click on apply Interactions and save the dashboard

When you open the control panel and select a virtual machine from the list (or search for it in the filter), it will display the average amount of data received and transmitted in Kbps in the metric table. Use the controls to date to specify when you want to see the data to and from.

    Hope this helps

  • Asked to "monitor all network traffic" Fusion 7.1-8.1 Windows plain vanilla VM - I didn't ask for it, how to disable it?

    Hi all

I created a computer virtual Windows 8.1 on October 1, 2013 with the current, at that time version of VMWare Fusion (not Pro, who has the tab network preferences and the check box associated to whether to display it's fast) on my Mac.

Since then, I upgraded the version of OS X to Yosemite and the version of VMWare Fusion to 7.1.1.

At one time, months or years, I started having the prompt below:

    VMWarePromiscuous.png

A virtual machine tries to monitor all network traffic, which requires administrator access. Type your password for this purpose.

I don't want to allow this, I never asked for this virtual machine to use the "Promiscuous" mode, I don't want to do, and I can't find anyway to turn this off!

I always leave the command prompt and everything works fine.  Discussions only I can find this in the forums are all related to people using ESX to vSphere, neither of which I have no knowledge where all used.

I had an another VM Windows 8.1 on another Mac during the same time, which has crossed all the same updates, and it never shows this prompt.

Please help make this stupid, quickly go and stop this virtual machine to try to use the "Promiscuous" mode!

    Thank you - Harold

You have the Hyper-V role installed in the virtual machine?

  • Should separate you network traffic and storage?

To give some background, we use FCoE, and each server has 6 adapters. The way it was intended was 2 for network, storage 2 and 2 to the DMZ. The subject was brought on the use of network and storage 4 to increase the flow.

Could someone point me to the best practices of the present or advice if they believe that it should be separate or combined?

    Thank you

I always recommend using a disparate network for IP storage (or at least one VLAN unique), unless you have some really strong QoS that will ensure you packets of storage (as with something like a blade case). The problem is that storage is much more sensitive to latency as (most) network traffic, and contension could cause significant problems.

    http://blogs.VMware.com/Networking/2011/11/VDS-best-practices-.html

IP storage traffic is via the ports of vmknic and this traffic varies with disk i/o requests. More data are transferred to configuration-to-end jumbo frame, with each Ethernet frame, reducing the number of images on the network. Plu framework reduced the load on the servers and targets and improves the performance of IP storage. Congested and low speed networks can cause latency issues that disrupt access to storage over IP. It is recommended to provide path at high speed for IP storage and avoid any congestion in the network infrastructure.

  • Virtual network traffic control

I am currently evaluating different virtualization products and have a special interest in virtual machine network traffic control.  What I want to know is: is it possible, in VMware Server (or drive), to completely control the network traffic between virtual machines?  In other words, can I programmatically control the virtual network so that I can decide if and when, a bunch of VM #1 is passed to VM #2?

I had planned on using network invited only, but if NAT or Bridged Networking is necessary to make this work, I'm ready to do.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dan

Is it possible, in VMware Server (or drive), to completely control the network traffic between virtual machines?

N ° Server VM Ware or player has no such controls.  ESX has traffic shaping.  None of these can do however to balance INCOMING traffic load.

You would need a virtual computer with the software between them to control data.  But if you do, upgrade to ESX Enterprise Plus with Cisco Nexus.

If you write your own URL handler as I propose, you can capture all the traffic I believe.

  • Can I use the timestamp to a global variable that is published to network to reduce network traffic?

I would use a couple of network-has published the global variables that will contain large groups of data.  I want to host them on a device, but read them in several - consider a distributed control system.  The data will be updated very rarely, but when that happens, I want that all my GUI to know quickly.  I have all the GUI, simply read data 4 x per second (which would be fast enough), but I was wondering if there is a more elegant solution (always using global variables).  If I read only the timestamp 4 x per second each of the HMI, compare to the last reading and then interrogate the integer variable if timestamps are different, which will require fewer resources that just enter the integer variable each time?  In other words, the read timestamp uses the same amount of resources as the reading of the entire variable?

  • No network traffic VM being withdrawn and any data store Info

I am running a trial of Foglight Enterprise visualization and upward and running things and an agent installed to my VMWare vCenter server infrustructure.  He shoots a lot of info, but none of the basic data store info is pulled (not the stuff that requires the Foglight for integration of storage) and none of the information network is taken for the individual virtual machine.  Guests and parents have netowrk showing traffic, but nothing on the side of the virtual machine.  The environment is configured with dvswitches for data, iscsi, vmotion, etc..  Any idea of what might happen, or I can look at?

I see some errors in the agent log if I pull it down on data warehouses... Here's a sample:

  • Hub and spoke VPN network traffic between two points talked

Hi, I have a star VPN network topology, and all traffic is remote office to the data center,

I have a request to build a tunnel between two remote sites to access some servers between two remote sites,

Can I just change the ACL of valuable traffic to to include say a Cabinet to Office B in rule Cabinet a Datacenter and Office B tunnel to tunnel data center.

In doing so, I can avoide the tunnel between two offices (and B)

    See you soon

    Hello

You can make the traffic between the two rays go through the hub or build a new tunnel between the rays.

If the hub is an ASA you must authorize same-security-traffic intra-interface permits

If the hub and the spokes are routers, you can also use DMVPN to dynamically create a tunnel between the spokes when necessary.
