Another post of EAS SSL...

I'm still not able to connect after doing the routine of startcom ssl.

My configuration:

* Client machine is a Mac OS Leopard

* Entourage 2008 - worm 12.1.5

* 2003 SBS R2

* I had a member of the forum help me by adding "custom A' records." (For my Moto Q9c & 755 p, I used my IP address that has worked well.) However for the Pre, I was brought to understand that it must be a domain name!).

* AW, I did the above & I was able to connect (woot woot) on the server, using my self-signed certificate.

* But all I saw was the Outbox & nothing else.

* Another search on the forums, has led me to install Startcom (or any other provider checked like Godaddy) certificate

* Gone thru' the movements of the same & installed.

* Installed certificates on my pre

* Opens the browser on the Meadow & was able to get on OWA

* A tried to implement pre & error "SSL certificate error. Check the date & time. »

* I restarted the Palm now several times. Do I need to restart the server too?

SOLVED.

With the help of another Member of the forum, MH, (who has a very few of his precious time with me troubleshooting), we got this to work.

FWIW, here is the solution for EAS to work on non - SSL exchange servers. (HD, if you read this & would like to add, please do.)

My configuration:

* SBS 2003 R2

* Without SSL

* Download the latest 1.03 update.

* If you are the administrator, make sure you have 'Type A' record for the e-mail domain, since I dn't believe meadow accepts IP addresses. So mark the IP address for this record of Type A. This area is the even that you will have access to your exchnage via OWA & no are not the domain name of your server.

* If you are not sure, stil connect to your server, right-click on "My computer" > properties & you will find your computer name, details etc...

* Do what no SSL is set up, OR your active directory, etc. don't want the same thing.

On your Pre:

* Email: Enter your email as [email protected]

* http: since there is no SLL, you can enter http://maildomain.com (see that there is no https)

*: Your (identical to that of the server) domain name

* Name

* Pwd

If your settings are correct, you should see a msg "sycnhronising Exchange".

G'luck.

  • Another post "this set of operation will be OK for CS5.5?

    This again is another question "is the computer I want to be good enough for CS5.5." Before I ask you to please forgive my ignorance and the length of this post. I am new to having to worry about hardware. In the past any decent PC meets my needs, but I find that this is the case I now need to edit video.

    So I'll start with my special needs. I need portability. I am a student and directing a summer camp. In my role at the camp, I identified the need to improve our hardware promotional camp, and that's where video editing comes into play. I will be filming and editing of several short promotional films and a couple of short documentary style using DSLR footage and perhaps a small camcorder or two. After much research and play with some free trial software, I have it set on CS5.5, but there is that one problem, my computer is not up to the task. Conveniently enough, my current computer has seen better days, and it's time to spend anyway, so I was searching and shopping around trying to find a suitable computer. That portability is a must and I can't afford a decent desktop and a laptop (and even if I could it would be boring data transfer back), I've been looking at laptops. It seems that any mobile off - the shelf that is well suited to run adobe isn't really all that portable. Of course, you can carry it much easier that a computer desk, but you can't expect to get a full day in the life of the battery out of it, are not a reasonable weight to carry around the creation (my point is that a computer 17 "laptop is out). I did some digging, and after reading a lot of posts on this forum and a lot of information from other sources, I think I came up with a solution. I am looking for admission in any people of enthusiasts see potential problems with my idea, and for dell sales representatives are not tech savvy, so I thought it was a good place to discover how well adobe would go on my set - up proposed (I'm not a pro and won't be of feature films (, edition, so I don't think that I need the same performance that your desktop wearing I have just need to perform well with as few hold ups as possible).

    Here's what I came with:

    Dell XPS 14z:

      • Intel core i-7 2640 M (2.8 GHz, with "turbo boost" up to 3.50 GHz)
      • 8 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM
      • 750 GB SATA, HDD 7200 RPM
      • NVIDIA Geforce 520 M 1 GB graphics card
      • The only information about the screen resolution I could find on the site web of Dell were "true 720 p HD display" after reading a few reviews, I found the specs are lower that the minimum recommended by Adobe, I forget exactly what they are.

    If this computer is no longer that I never needed for my needs no video editing. On paper, it's a nice small laptop, a little expensive ($1300!), but they can be had at a very reasonable price ($700 - $800) refurbished Dell online workshop. None-the-less, I see several problems with this configuration.

    First is the screen: it is not enough. Which is easily solved using an external monitor, and you can get a pretty decent screen off tiger direct for less than $200. I can tolerate a video editing at a desk, I need portability to other applications.

    Second is the hard drive. Reading this forum, I understand that editing with a single hard disk can slow things down a bit. I was wondering how big a deal it really is for the occasional Editor? There are adapters that allow you to place a second hard drive, where the optical drive is in this laptop. If necessary, I intend to put a second 750 GB 7200 rpm HARD drive where is the optical drive. Problem solved, right? Did anyone see any problem with this idea? My next question on the subject of the hard drive is: how would a third hard drive really benefit me? And data transfer using a with a USB 3.0 external HARD drive connection be fast enough to be a viable option for a third drive? Anyway I could take an appropriate hard drive and caddy for a little less than $175 and $100 for a USB 3.0 external HARD drive to be used as a third drive if necessary.

    The third potential problem is the RAM. It seems there are a lot of opinions out there about how much is enough. 8 GB is enough? According to the website of intel, this particular processor is compatible with up to 16 GB of RAM, and after searching the forums I found a few cases of people expand their RAM on this computer to 16 GB with no problems. I understand that I can replace the 2 x 4 GB current implemented with 1x4Go + 1X8GB or 2x8GB to give a total of 12 or 16 GB of RAM. Is it necessary or even beneficial?  8 GB would be more than enough for anything else I do, and since I have some experience with video editing I thought I would ask those who know. Need an upgrade of RAM? By using this configuration, I could update the RAM 12 GB for about $100 and 16 GB for about $200.

    Finally, the graphics card that is provided with this computer is not on the list of cards recommended by Adobe. I understand that this is because it only supports CUDA, how much of an issue is it? I'll be able to edit video without recommended card effectively?

    The point of all numbers is as follows: 800 + 200 + 175 + 100 = 1, 275. $ 1275ish seems to me that I could get a very reasonable video editing set up which is always portable. It is less than the price of the tile on these laptops and much less than a Mac book pro, which is the world's first recommendation when I mention that I want to use the computer for video editing. This looks like a very reasonable price for a laptop with a processor intel 2.8 GHz i7, two 750 GB 7200 rpm HDD, 12 GB of RAM, and an external monitor when I want to sit and change. Am I delusional thinking it would go well with CS5.5?

    So I guess the point is the following. Life is any compromise, since I need portability and I am not a professional (just an anal consumer with high standards :), I am willing to trade a little performance for improved portability of video editing. I want the opinion of those who have experience using CS5.5 with different layouts, my proposed set-up seems like a reasonable compromise? Improvements are still needed? They would be sufficient to provide a reasonable editing experience? All the other tips (not to mention than buying a desktop computer or a computer wicked expensive 17 "laptop which weighs two to three times more expensive and chews through the battery life)?

    Thank you for sticking with it and give me any comments. We appreciate it!

    Benson,

    Trying to stick with your original objectives and I think I can see where you're going, I have some tips and suggestions...

    -Since the SLR CAMERAS and camcorders (I guess as ACHDV) are very difficult codecs; I suggest that you consider only Intel QM 32nm processors (i.e. i7 2670QM w / 4 carrots + hyperthreading); Having twice the nuclei is HUGE for CS5/5.5

    -Suggest that go with a 14 "display 1600 x 900 for a good compromise between size, weight and cost

    -A video installation of nVidia level "gamers" will allow the massively useful EMT be put on (carrots GPU cuda)

    -8 GB of RAM will work; of course the 16 GB would allow for faster burns to DVD, but I don't feel that to be a need

    -Supports for the conversion of optical Bay NewModeUS are asesome to add a 2.5 "2nd if you need to change on the fly, but since you said you don't need this capability I suggest you get the external drive USB3.0 to 7200 RPM bigger, more formidable, you can plug in when you change. Of course a RAID 0 (disk 2) peripheral USB 3.0 would be even more ideal, but it can also break your budget.

    -Dell Alienware M14x meets all of these criteria; Yes, it will be a little heavier. Yes, it will be more expensive. But, more important still, it will get the job done. Any laptop ' thin, light and smooth "and which includes the current more little line of Macbook Pro won't be so IMHO.

    Kind regards

    Jim

  • Remote systems missing - followed by another post

    Now I have a little time and I installed 2010 and drivers who install MAX 4.7. It is a sequel to this post here. Still miss me remote systems in the tree. I was going through the steps to repair a corrupt database max and one of the steps is to make a copy of the data directory. Well... When I navigate to the location, the data directory is not yet there. I think this might be my problem. I download some drivers to reinstall MAX and see what happens. I don't think it's the DVD of drivers because other people in my office have used the same DVD without problem. I'll contact support technique ot tomorrow, but in the mean time of suggestions on the missing data directory?

    In case anyone has this problem now or down the road here is how I solved it with application engineers of NOR. Check if there is a mxRmCfg.dll in C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\MAX. If it is there and you are missing the remote systems, it's probably your problem. This means THAT MAX tries to run the dll of this repertoire that she shouldn't do (at least as far as I understand). Deletion (or just rename may be safer) the .dll file that should solve the problem.

  • Another post on BIS and the Alliance program

    Hi all

    I am aware that there are already many posts around about establishing a HttpConnection of an app, access to the BIS - B connection. and the obligation to be part of an Alliance partner to be able to receive a BIS - B connection string.

    I've tested in applications, it seems possible to use BIS - B combined connection (if it has a) seeking Service book for the details necessary to establish a connection. All Ive done reading I have not seen if you use this method in an application is acceptable (in terms of licenses etc.) If you are not a member of the Alliance program; and if you are able to distribute such application to be distributed publicly without being a member of the alliance program. Is this acceptable; and are there implications if you distribute applications that access to the API signed without being a partner of the alliance?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I've seen a number of posts on this forum that claim to offer a way to use BIS-B by looking in the service books, for example

    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/Java-development/connecting-your-BlackBerry-http-and-socket-c...

    As far as I know, this code will not work.

    I think that the blog you will find here:

    http://www.naviina.EU/WP/BlackBerry/the-magic-string-BlackBerry/

    gives a very balanced (and not RIM) take on the use of the BIS-B.

    If you think that easier networks will make your app, think again.  Network communication is a very small part of the entire application, and it is possible to obtain a reliable communication using other means.  And BIS - B isn't too without problems, I had problems with encoding with data sent via BIS - B.  BIS - B is not a panacea.

    However if you are convinced that BIS-B is the best thing for your app, then I suggest that you have two options:

    (a) approach RIM for access to it.  If you have a convincing application, then I think that they will look favorably

    (b) ask someone else to develop your network code.  We did this for a Client and got permission to use BIS-B for an application that we develop for someone else.  We delivered the communication as a "black box" code that their, but they have the source for the rest of the application and can maintain they like now.

    Your last question is:

    "is there no impact if you distribute applications that access to the API signed without being an alliance partner?

    There is no impact, signature is not related to the use of the BIS-B or members of the Alliance.

    Edit: And of couse - welcome on the Blackberry forums!

    Any ideas for what I can check, please?

    Thank you, John

    The connection string, you really used to connect knowing would have been helpful...

    =================================
    ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified

    This error means one thing and one thing only. The customer couldn't find the entry specified in the tnsnames.ora file being used.

    Following this statement, remember that when you use a dblink, the database that defines the link acts as a client to the database that is the target of the link. So in this case, the tnsnames.ora on the host of your source file must have an entry for your db target, as defined in the db_link.

    And for the umpteenth time... This error has NOTHING to do with the status of a listener. The connection request never got far enough to reach a listener. If someone tells you to check a listener in response to ora-12154, they do not pay attention, or do not understand how works the TNS. This error is equivalent to not be able to place a phone call because you do not know the number of the part you want to reach. You would not debug this situation by going to the home of the other guy and test his phone, or by accessing the phone company and the standard test. And you are debugging an ORA-12154 by checking the listener. If I had a list of ten albums of 'Incredibly Simple Concepts (tm)' which must be burned in the brain of anyone claiming to be an Oracle DBA, it would include "ORA-12154 has nothing to do with the listener.

    =================================

    Suppose you have the following in your tnsnames.ora:

    larry =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myhost)(PORT = 1521))
        )
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVICE_NAME = curley)
        )
      )

    Now, when you issue a connect, say like this:

    $> sqlplus scott/tiger@larry

    TNS will appear in your tnsnames.ora for an entry called "larry". Then, tns sends a request to (PORT = 1521) on (HOST = myhost) to aid (PROTOCOL = TCP), requesting a connection to (SERVICE_NAME = curley).

    Where's (HOST = myhost) on the network? When the request is passed to tns to the next layer in the network stack, the name "myhost" resolves to an IP address, either via a file 'hosts' local, through DNS, or possibly other mechanisms being used less. Alternatively, you can hard-code the IP (HOST = 123.456.789.101) in the tnsnames.ora.

    Then, the request arrives at port 1521 myhost. If all goes well, there is a listener on myhost configured to listen on port 1521, and this listener knows SERVICE_NAME = curley. If so, you'll be connected.

    A few important points.

    First, the listener is a process only server-side . It's all in life seeks applications for reception for connections to the databases and set up these connections. Once the connection is established, the listener is out of the picture. It creates the connection. Is not maintain the connection. A listener, linking an oracle of the House, listening on a single port, use multiple instances of database in several versions of several houses. It is unnecessary complexity to try to have several headphones. It's like the telephone company, to build a separate table for each customer.

    Secondly, the tnsnames.ora file is a problem on the client side . Its purpose is to address resolution - the equivalent of the 'hosts' file tns further to the bottom of the network stack. The only reason it exists on a host computer is because this machine also can run client processes.

    What can go wrong?

    First, there may not be an entry for 'larry' in your tnsnames file. In this case, you get "ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified" no need to go looking for a problem on the host, with the listener, etc.. If you cannot place a phone call because you do not know the number (cannot find your phonebook (tnsnames.ora) or can not find the party looking for listed in it (no entry for larry)) you don't look at problems at the switchboard.

    Perhaps the entry for larry was found, but myhost could not be resolved to an IP address (for example there is no entry for myhost in the local hosts file). This will mean by "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist.

    Maybe there is an entry for MyServer in the local hosts file, but it specified a bad IP address. This will mean by "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist.

    Maybe the INVESTIGATION period was good, but there is no listener running: "ORA-12541: TNS:no listener.

    Maybe the INVESTIGATION period was good, there is a listener to myhost, but he is listening on a different port. "ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error.

    Maybe the INVESTIGATION period was good, there is a listener to myhost, listening on the specified port, it's unknown SERVICE_NAME = curley. "ORA-12514: TNS:listener is not currently of service requested in connect descriptor.

  • How to disable the verification of all ssl - sec_error_ca_cert_invalid

    Is it possible to disable SSL any verification of any sort in firefox?

    I'm stuck with this error. (copied from another post) https://support.CDN.Mozilla.NET/media/uploads/images/2014-08-04-14-05-02-bc62ea.PNG

    I already have mozillapkix to false. I don't want to import the self-signed certificates for all my servers in firefox. I also deal with "ssl broken", as strings of incomplete certificates, etc... on load balancers or other strange Machines.

    I had a version of night who worked with mozillapkix set to false but looks like she auto-updated: (so it is now 33.0.2 and is more like my certificates self-signed again.) (Which reminds me that I have to disable auto-update if possible).

    If there is no way to completely disable ssl checking in Firefox, there at - it a night build version or build version prior (I forgot what version this new ssl audit begins), I can use that will prevent this strict ssl audit (why there is no 'add exception' is still confused...)?

    If it is a puzzle, you can use the Extended Support Release of Firefox 31 version. In my view, the preference to disable the use of PKIX still works in this version. You could test with the 'Portable Apps' version first before switching.

  • See 4.5 SSL fails after installation of the certificate

    I have a problem after installation following the steps described in the VMWare KB (and a bunch of other places) a certificate is currently working on an assessment of view 4.5

    I set up the environment and everything worked without problems.  Then I installed a certificate using the keytool and the steps described above, ssl connections ceased to work.  The admin page would be just a moment and my client view (currently on trial with the OS X client) would also expire during an attempt of SSL connections.  I had previously enabled connections not secure so that both connections use http still operate.

    The only difference in my SSL import procedure, it's that I signed the certificate using our AD CA.  I imported the complete certificate chain as a .p7b file and keytool complained that he did not trust my CA, (I said yes to import in any case).

    After this issue, I even tried to go back to the original signed cert free by removing the key file and the file locked.config and SSL still does not work.

    Looking through the logs of the events on the server, there is no error SSL and the view admin page itself don't report problems with the server.

    The only other reference to a similar problem, I have seen on this subject is another post on the forums, but it appers that issue was because the server was also the Wyse report server running on this issue, my server is running anything else that the display manager, I do not use a security server just one server.

    Hello

    > I had previously enabled connections not secure so that both connections use http still operate.

    The option ' require SSL for client connections and Administrator display: "is common for the customer and Admin UI connections.

    Because you have disabled this option, only the connections non - ssl will work for both.

    Connect to youyr Admin UI by using http://serverfqdn/admin/ and enable this setting and restart the login server.

  • HP Z600 workstation: Z600 - POST error beep (5 five beeps)

    I bought an opportunity Workstation Z600 with 12 GB of ram and two processors E5520 Xeon a year ago. It has operated VMware esxi 6 like a champ, 24/7, no problem.  I made a change to esxi to activate technology hyper threading that I had not been activated previously. The change required a reboot.

    Directly after the restart, the Z600 gave an error of 5 beeps with power led to change from blue to red and flashes red with each beep.

    I found the Z600 maintenance manual and the diagnostic code refers to a "memory error video pre.  I have tried the following to resolve the error without success:

    1. Reinstall the DIMMs.
    2. Replace DIMMS one by one to isolate the faulty module.
    3. Removed power system without DIMM DIMMS, bike and re-placed DIMM (it was a 'technical' repair suggested on another post here in the forums of HP for a matter of "5 beeps").
    4. Replaced with different compatible DIMM DIMMS.
    5. Replaced the motherboard with used, but identical motherboard number and repeat steps 1 to 4.

    At this point, I don't know what I can do a troubleshooting point.

    For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Just a last follow-up.

    I removed the 2nd CPU, cleared the CMOS but it still some messages with error 5 beep. Swapped all of RAM sticks, swapped CPU 1 with the 2nd and traded off the RAM sticks again. Each combination was the POST error.

    I threw in the towel. I thought about buying the new RAM since all my RAM is used, but I can't justify spending good money after bad on a hunch, it's the RAM. I will part out the Z600 and try to recover some of my losses.

    Just that there is another method I wish diagnostic I could apply to understand what is the question.

    Who knew restart, after a year of solid service, would kill the PC.

    Thank you all.

  • How to copy data from one hard drive to another after the upgrade?

    I have a HP e9220y, and I recently bought a new hard drive for it. There is nothing wrong with the former, but this one has a 64 MB cache and 7200 RPM so I hope it will be a little faster. I installed it and it works fine, but I want to copy all data from the old disk to the new so I can start everything off the faster hard drive and I seem to have a bit of doing wrong. I can't just copy and paste because of the Windows system files that are used. And last night when I set up Windows backup, and went to bed, when I thought it that Windows has recovered from a stop unexpected, rebooted, and only 2 GB of data saved obtained.

    What is the best way to move all the data from the old drive to the new drive, make it the default C: drive and move partitions system and factory_image as well? Thank you!

    (1) If your old drive and the new drive is Seagate or Western Digital, then free House with their cloning software.

    (2) before starting the clone process, I found best to perform a disk cleanup and defragmentation.

    Cloning software to copy the two partitions. Example:

    Old drive 250 GB formatted to 232 C: created 220 and 12 GB D:

  • Initialization of an array to match another size of array using the formula node.

    I want to get a few different pictures of the same length and constants in the formula node and output a table corresponding to their length after some minor calculations. Another post, I discovered that I can simply initialize the table as such:

    float pp [100];

    The problem is that I find myself with a much bigger picture than what I need. I want to do is something like:

    float [n] pp.;

    where n represents the entry of an array size in the form node or is something like:

    n = sizeOfDim(td0,0);    Here I use a table 1 d

    None of these methods seem to work. How do I initialize my picture 'pp' such that it matches the length of array 1 d of "td0?

    The more likely your initialization externally.  Create an entry named pp and wire td0 inside as well.  Now create an output with the pp even name and it will contain an array of the desired length.  Of course, this assumes that you want to edit all items in pp.  Otherwise, just use initialize the array to create a new table and feed in the length of td0, and whatever default value you want (ie. 0 or NaN).  The blank values will keep this value after the node of the formula.
