  • Desktop and personal settings have changed after the restart of norton antivirus update

I recently had Norton through Live Update and restarted my computer as required by the update.  When I logged in, it me considered a new user and created a whole new desktop and profile - same created a new default folder under My Documents.  I logged in using the same information as before ID - but now instead of her load my old profile, office, and preferences, it loads up as if it were the first time that you log on as a new user.  It does not reference my old information.  All my documents are still there.  It created a new folder using my name. Media CENTER (the name of my pc's media CENTER).  So now, instead going into the folder "bcwinn" to load my profile, he created a new called a 'bcwinn '. • I want to stay on the 30 version and have never check for verified updates then why he update to 34?

shows to be on the road to the beta. How do I get beta channel and just keep using version 30. I know there are security problems by using an old version, but am using the antivirus update. I want to only update or update when the antivirus has caught up. A lot of my kaspersky protection Add ons become disabled when the last updated version.

    Thank you for your Question.
To return to an older version of Firefox, save your Firefox profile first, as a precaution, and then follow these steps:
Download the version you want to http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/firefox/releases/ or http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ Note: If you are looking for an older version of a "final" of Firefox release, look for a download with no suffix letter (for example, 18.0.2 is the last final version before 19.0). Publish versions ending in esr (for example, Firefox 17 0.3esr) are Extended Support Release versions for organizations. Versions ending with b (e.g., 19.0b6) are beta versions, intended for users who are testing pre-release versions.
Exit Firefox and then uninstall it. Be sure to remove the Firefox installation directory.
Install the older version of Firefox. You can install Firefox at the same place in order to minimize the side effects. For example, the Windows registry or other installed programs can wait for Firefox to be in the default location (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox or C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox on 64-bit Windows).
After you install the older version, disable the automatic software update feature of Firefox (if enabled).
Reconfigure your firewall if you have one.
If Firefox disable one of your modules, you might be able to replace it with a version that supports an older version of Firefox.
If you encounter other problems, create a new Firefox profile and transfer your data to the new profile.

  • Update Flash seems to have bricked my phone; Please do not laugh

I am at a loss here.

So last night I was watching Netflix and YouTube, and the next thing I knew, that Norton NIS started popping up warnings multiple 'Rootkit blocked', and then YouTube stopped working. It seemed that the Flash drive is malfunctioning. It would show a black box empty when the video is, and I would be with the right button on it, I would say just "will not charged animation" in the context menu.

After a few minutes of YouTube not working not at all, I got a dialog box install a Flash update, which usually occurs at startup. Made sense, so I clicked on it, but it does not solve anything. Norton skipped a few messages more "blocked Rootkit' identical and then pops up a message that"reboot is required to continue fixing your computer."

I did backup my most important info, so I'm not completely stupid, but everything as I figured, once I hit the restart, the computer itself in bricks. It won't start Windows. I get an error message, then a screen dialog black BIOS or the POST or what you call asking "start Windows normally" or in "repair" mode Starting loops normally just back to the same error and repair mode dialog asking the boot floppy, which I cannot find at the moment.

Now, if that were the only problem, it's one thing, but here's the real problem:

That treat everything with Flash broken on YouTube and then Flash attempts to upgrade and Norton NIS misunderstanding the Flash update for a rootkit... it's going on my second computer now. I'm not going to run a Flash update, and I'm in no hurry to even restart the computer more, until I understand what just happened here.

If anyone can help me? What could happen?

    It is a 220 X.

Well, thank you for all the answers; There everything went well enough. It seems it was well a virus masquerading as a updated Flash, and I'm inclined to think that it happened because I jumped with months and months of Windows updates.

I had been using a SSD cloned, so I dropped my old drive hard in and went from there, install all Windows updates and antivirus updates. I used a separate computer to scan the SSD infected on a USB adapter, and it turned a simple virus "trogan.gen". Once it has been cleaned, I ripped all my new files on a separate hard drive and wiped the SSD and then used to clone the hard disk again. Back in business.

I guess I could have tried to rescue the SSD without having to shoot anything, but it's so much easier to clone the HDD again, given that I had no new paid software.

    pinkygranny,
Try the following and let us know the results.
Clean boot your PC and then test.

If you can not access the internet, then check your updates installed and see if KB980182 has been installed.  If so, uninstall and then test.

So that the results answer with what anti-virus\firewall programs you're running.

Well, it came with mcafee anti-virus and it worked for 1 year. I forgot to write that (sorry). It's my girlfriend's pc, but I have the same and it works fine.

Your GF never need to subscribe to the McAfee preinstalled application or replaced prior to the expiration of the one year free trial...?

    Assuming Vista, see...

Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows.  Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) otherwise and before using a flash drive or the SD card that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:

NB: No matter what Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free and download/run the removal tool before installing updates, Windows Service Packs, or updates IE and before installing your new anti-virus application (which will require WinXP SP3 must be installed).

  • Do installed Windows updates remain intact after back by using the system restore?

I installed the Windows updates at the same time, I've updated my antivirus software, and now when I try to delete a message from Inbox in Outlook 2007 by using the DELETE key on my keyboard, Outlook crashes.  I am trying to determine if this problem was caused by the updates of Windows/Outlook or the update of the antivirus software.  I did a system restore to an earlier date to do all the updates and the Outlook/remove key question has disappeared.  Even though I know that system restore has removed the antivirus update, I don't know if he removed the updates of Windows/Outlook.  Just try to understand that you caused the problem key to delete.  Strange problem, huh?

  • A updated Windows caused inconsistent Web Page loading

I have this problem have fought for about 7 months and feel now that this question may have some merit. On November of last year, I noticed that one of my records came to a point that a session on the internet would have on the same sequence of events on my ISP, different from search engines email account or another web browser outside of the Internet Explorer that I always used: web pages load normally for a period of shooting then the Green loading bar at the bottom of the page shows 50% completion & load entirely web page, then to the same bar of fine corresponding to 100%, but the web page is empty. At this point, I may be able to close the web page, but more often otherwise I have to use the Task Manager to end the session. Even after this point I couldn't access the internet unless the system has rebooted. I thought that not much in light of 6 years + of very intensive use, it was time to do a new install & really cut the number of programs installed and fragmented garbage.

The drive was wiped cleaned before anything was started. A firewall & antivirus updated were in place before any connection to the internet. All XP critical and recommended updates loaded first thing and installed. Minimal programs have been installed. DSL result same slowness.

I spent hours with my ISP support for any solution. My older router was suspected, so a newer version has been purchased. No change.

Then, my wife made a comment that its XP disc that she uses only for the printer on my desktop still works very well. I now widely used and it is not a fake. Wipe the disc again and done the same installation of all windows, as before, but duplicate updates install it software she has: no change. The only difference with his, is that no Windows Update were conducted on it for some time, as he was very low on disk space.

    Thank you

As it became very obvious that I was not to get more answers to my question, I found the solution through another forum by examining the response to slow down the loading of the web page. Log in Mode safe mode with networking privileges. Things will appear somewhat sluggish clicking around but that's ok. Begin to surf the internet. All my symptoms went away. In this case, Internet Explorer settings need to be reset & can be done using the Microsoft FIX - IT Site, charging to @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 . If it doesn't clear up the problem of IE and your computer is running slowly as well, this MS web page might be the solution: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353.

  • Is it possible to set up a Vista account which can only download "microsoft updates" (that is, no other non-microsoft files can be downloaded or installed)?

    Hello

Is it possible to set up a Vista account which can only download "microsoft updates" (that is, no other non-microsoft files can be downloaded or installed)?

I know that you can create a 'guest account ' with essentially the rights of internet browsing. I would, however, allow for some more flexibility, such as if there are microsoft updates or antivirus updates, this account is permitted to accept these files. I fear that non-microsoft files such as google or yahoo toolbars settle.

Thanks to anyone who can help us with that.

There is no installation in Windows to allow this, and I can't say I've ever heard an Add on for Windows that would allow this.

  • Impossible Windows 7 update when connected to my WRT54G.

For some reason, the computers that are connected via cable or wireless through my WRT54G verse. #6 (the v1.02.8 firmware version) will not connect updates (Error Codes: code 80072EE2-Win7, Vista-80072EFD) especially BONES, anti-virus, malware updates.  It seems that I have some sort of virus, Trojan, worm or what have you, but I have Eset antivirus on these systems and there is no detection of anything.  I ran Spybot Seek and Destroy with no signs of spyware.  These computers are not share files, just connect to the internet.  Now, when I connect directly to the internet by modem cable each they have no problem updating.  All indications point to my router as the suspect, but I have not changed the settings that would have restricted access or connections.  I googled this to death.  Y at - it a simple explanation to this problem? Any help is appreciated.

    Mike

OK, I'm back to OS update again as well for my antivirus updates.  Some how my router has been updated with a static DNS address.  I did a complete reset of my router because I didn't know what else may have been reconfigured without my knowledge.  Once reset I've re-established then the password for the network and the router, and then I restarted my computer.  Everything works very well.  I spent a total of 4 hours of work this problem with very little help from cyberspace.  I hope that my pain helps someone.

I must point out that Vista can update itself, I get the updates without problem.  I also use internet and outlook without problem, so I know that I'm connected to the internet.

I had problems in the past with some other updates (AVG Free, Ad-Aware) being unable to load.

    Thank you!

I saw someone else having the same problem and they have changed the parameters concerning the Scheduler and worked. Have you tried to change the automatic Scheduler settins. Make sure that there is a control in automatic mode.

  • KB947821 update [October 2014] appears suddenly in October 2015?

    Hey there will:

I hope someone can help and answer my question.

I am running Windows 7 SP 1, 64 with IE 11 x and have kept all current Windows updates, since I bought my Dell laptop 4 years ago. Updates are still installed and I did have problems with updates failed, etc. I also keep the antivirus updated and scan 5 times a week.

Yesterday, the following appeared in my list of updates of 'Important '; KB947821 update [October 2014] system tool.

Why something dated a year ago suddenly appear as a 'new' update? More so that I keep all the updates, updated! It really gives me a bad feeling, and I'm afraid to install it before you know whether it is legitimate or not. Of course, I may very well just be paranoid, but would rather be safe than sorry!

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I hope you have a nice day!

    Hi Dragonfire,

It is safe to install because it was offered hollow a Windows Update.

If you have any changes that may have evolved this update of your system, make it install it again, or it may have an update update. If you do not have to worry about this.

I hope this helps to solve the issue. If the problem persists, get back to us. We will be happy to help you.

  • Impossible to do a clean install on a Partitioned drive C - the screen of the Machine is a "black screen" after Microsoft NVidia driver updated optional; Cannot roll back.

Some time before, Microsoft had an optional update for the NVidia graphics driver on a 32-bit F3V ASUS laptop.

Prior to that, everything worked perfectly. The only problem was with this 'bad' optional driver update that was installed once before; and got the black screen, but managed to make it back this time.

The machine has two partitions; both have a defined password.

I lost the password to one of them and have no backup.

Until the black screen, antivirus updates have been updated.

    The equipment works properly.

Other than a slight overheating issue while games graphics w/3D acceleration (83 degrees Celsius), the machine works pretty much perfectly.

The machine display perfectly in safe mode.

    Done the following:

    (1) roll back; has failed because the regular (important) Windows Update has not created a restore point * and * previous restore points had been erased.

    (2) the Startup Repair (without and then with the Windows 7 installation disc). Message says "unable to repair.

    (3) w/installer disk, went to the command line as an administrator, tried to format c: received message "there is not enough space on this partition. Please allocate more space, and then try again. "

    (4) boot safe mode with network, downloaded and successfully installed the updates of the NVidia - graphics driver and still have the black screen to normal startup.

Went 5) for computer management and cleanmgr without success.

I'm almost ready to consider a shop.
