AnyConnect VPN log in failure

Today, we had a very disturbing failure.  We have a private network fully functional virtual on our device of Adaptive Security ASA 5510 8.2 (5) running.  I was installing a new user on a computer of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit using FireFox instead of Internet Explorer.

The initial connection has worked well, but the client download has failed.  I clicked on the link to download the client manually and the Cisco VPN client appeared to download and install correctly.  However, when I tried to open the VPN after installed customer he says again once the automatic download of the client failed and he offered the link to download the client once again, that I made with exactly the same result.

I thought that perhaps the problem was with FireFox so I opened Internet Explorer and enter the url for the VPN.  After that the user name and password entered (and validated), I got the same error on the failure of client download and I selected the link for download it manually like I did the other 3 times in FireFox.  This time, it seemed indeed that it worked as I received the certificate on AnyConnect error (which I normally receive it) However, the login screen remained on the page after I clicked on the certificate error to continue.

The PC seems to hang so I finished the VPN session and then attempted to re-establish the connection.  This time when I entered the username and password, it came up saying "opening session not valid."  I tried again and got the same result.  I tried another user but no joy... same result... is not a valid connection.  I went to another PC; that worked fine a few minutes earlier and I got the same invalid login message any user name and password I entered.  Something happened that was blocking all users to connect to the VPN.

I didn't believe that attempts to connect to the VPN using FireFox on a Windows 7 64 bit machine could sort my Cisco VPN fall but I was out of options... so I restarted the ASA and much to my reboot disappoinment has completely restored the VPN service.

Now, if it was a router LinkSys of 75 million dollars instead of a safety device several thousand dollars I just shake, but how can it be that a failed connection attempt could put a Cisco ASA 5510 VPN kneeling?  I thought maybe I had grown the max license for SSL VPN connections... I think its 2... But if it was the case then why don't the message indicates that instead of just saying 'invalid connection '.  Also, there is no other opening connectionsat the time unless all downlaod failure attempts counted as active sessions.  Also, I had already checked in ASDM and no active VPN sessions have been recorded.

Any guidance someone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Ed

Hi Edward,.

I went through the issue and I think you have only 2 license for SSL and when you try to login several times, nomatter if the installation completed successfully, or it has failed but the sessions have been built on the SAA and after the construction of the session, ASA pushed these files on client computers. I know that it gives you a message beside the point, saying: 'Invalid logon', but if you run the debug web svc 255 on the SAA (using SSH/Telnet), you will see a message:

Session could not be established. Session limit 2 reached

.

You say that you don't see any session on the SAA, so could you please get the output of the command:

debugging web anyconnect 255 (or debug web svc 255) and share with us.

Thank you

    Hello people!

I would like to know how I can see the story of anyconnect VPN.

See current webvpn or ssl vpn client session, I now this command can be using, but I Don t know about history.
    ASA # display webvpn vpn-sessiondb
or ASA # display vpn-sessiondb svc

    Thank you

    Marcio

    Hi Marcio,

To do this you must configure a syslog server.

    Please visit this link:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/PIX-500-series-Securi...

You would be able to extract the information from the Anyconnect users who have a link in the past.

    It will be useful.

  • ASA5505 SSL AnyConnect VPN and NAT Reverse Path failure

I worked on it for a while and just have not found a solution yet.

  • AnyConnect VPN and HP Office Jet Pro 8500 A910

I can print from my laptop IBM T400 running Windows 7 64 bit. However, when I log in work AnyConnect VPN, I can't print. He says that the printer is disconnected from the network, even if it is connected. IT support at work said he can't change or adjust the VPN settings. The only way I can print is to disconnect from the VPN. Is this what I can adjust on the software of the printer or the printer itself?

    Hello

To be able to print on the local network when you are connected to a network remote VPN might be possible by changing the VPN split tunneling configuration.

However, it is depands on the VPN features and cannot be authorized because of the security requirements of your IT Department.

Anyway, there is no way to configure such a thing by the printer or the printer software... It is directly affected by the configuration of the network and therefore require to modify VPN settings.

    Kind regards

  • AnyConnect VPN client authentication using certificates

Guys, I'm trying to configure my ASA5505 to authenticate the AnyConnect VPN clients using certificates. I have 'Certificates' defined as my method of authentication in my AnyConnect connection profile (see screenshot), but I get 'Certificate Validation failure' whenever I try to connect. The certificate I want to use is a computer issued by my CA certificate company root (Windows Server 2008 running Active Directory Certificate Services). Screenshot of certificate is attached. I added the root certificate on the SAA, and I tried all kinds of combinations by using the corresponding certificate in the AnyConnect Client profile. Each attempt failed, and I'm having no luck finding documentation on how to proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello Shaun,

The problem you're describing, not be able to authenticate through certificate through Microsoft Internet Explorer, is the fact that the certificate is in the computer store.  You do not want to confirm with Microsoft, but, I understand that only Microsoft Internet users explore the user store, this certificate is not available to attend the ASA via the Internet browser.

  • ASA Anyconnect VPN do not work or download the VPN client

I have a Cisco ASA 5505 that I try to configure anyconnect VPN and thought, I've changed my setup several times but trying to access my static public IP address of the external IP address to download the image, I am not able to. • AnyConnect VPN setup problem

Hi all, I'm going to have bad configure anyconnect VPN on my router. I'm CCENT pre level and especially followed a tutorial, but feel I'm missing something simple here.

It's a fairly simple installation on a Cisco No. 2851 - faces of a single interface my LAN 192.168.1.0/24, the other has a public IP address.

I created a network 192.168.2.0/24 VPN users, mainly to have phones Android connection of their mobile phone networks, and have access to the servers/security cameras/etc by using their local IP addresses. When my phone connects, it gets an IP address and is connected, but is not communicating with my LAN correctly.

The VPN client can ping 192.168.1.254 (the router's LAN IP) - but not the other devices on the network. However, the devices on my LAN can ping the VPN clients to their address 192.168.2.x.

Here's a copy of my current config, I have reorganized some elements with #s. Also pasted my ip sh road under him. Do not forget that I am a novice, please forgive the hack :)

can you try to disable the FW on your internal lan hosts and then try and ping from users of vpn client

  • Lock the AnyConnect VPN with broader access list

I'm trying to lock my AnyConnect VPN interface. I use the split tunneling. I want only to http tunnel traffic to an external http server we have and ftp to another external server behave. I don't want anything else through the tunnel or anywhere else allowed on our network. My current setup, I can connect to the vpn and the servers ping external ip address, but not by name. I can also not navigate anywhere else while I'm connected. It is not imperative for me to navigate anywhere else, when you are connected, but I need to allow only access specified above.

    Configuration:

    attributes Anyconnect-group policy

    VPN-tunnel-Protocol svc webvpn

    Split-tunnel-policy tunnelspecified

    value of Split-tunnel-network-list WebAccessVPN

    WebVPN

    list of URLS no

SVC request to enable default webvpn

WebAccessVPN list extended access allow icmp disable any newspaper host FTP - EXT object-group Ping_and_Trace

External FTP FTP access WebAccessVPN-list comment

WebAccessVPN list extended access permitted tcp disable no matter what newspaper to host FTP - EXT object-group DM_INLINE_TCP_2

WebAccessVPN list extended access allow icmp disable any newspaper host LICENSING-EXT object-group Ping_and_Trace

WebAccessVPN list extended access allowed object-group TCPUDP any LICENSING-EXT eq www log disable host

WebAccessVPN list extended access deny ip any object-group DM_INLINE_NETWORK_1

You can use the vpn filter under the attributes of political group. In the vpn-filter, you can reference the access list you created.

  • Select the timeout on ASA Cisco Anyconnect VPN

    Hello world

I use the Cisco Anyconnect VPN client with the ASA 5540 firewall. I need allow a time-out on the VPN clients, so they log off after x hours of inactivity.

    Thank you to

    Best respect

    Hello

To my understanding of the default timeout value is 30 minutes

You should be able to change this setting in the "username" configurations (if you use LOCAL AAA on the SAA) or under the configurations of the 'group policy' .

    The command is

    VPN-idle-timeout

Here is the link of the commands reference

  • Cisco asa anyconnect vpn client mode issue

    Hi team,

I get my users anyconnect vpn connection failures very frequently and it that comesup.

Can you please check see the version attached and explain, if I run with licenses right into place.

    concerning

    SecIT

    Hello

You've got license for 250 users anyconnect so unless you are having more users than this number, it shouldn't be a problem. Debugs could help reduce the problem in this case.

    Kind regards

  • AnyConnect VPN session disconnect and reconnect

I have a firewall cisco ASA 5525-X set up to accept the AnyConnect VPN client (IKEv2) connection.

AnyConnect VPN client can successfully connect.

During the 1st 10 minutes after logging in, will the client Anyconnect VPN lost VPN connection for a few seconds (ranging from 3 seconds to 10 seconds), then it automatically reconnect back. After that, no more lost connection times.

The lost connection happened at all multiple. So far, all at least 4 show the same problem.

It does not affect the operation of the network, but it gives an unpleasant impression for users.

I tried to surveillance of the ASDM firewall logs, no newspaper of no errors.

I use Wireshark to capture traffic on the client side, also no errors detected.

Can idea how I can continue to troubleshoot this problem?

    Hi Limlayhin,

You can go ahead and capture logs of dart. You can download the Pack of dart for the anyconnect version you use and that you run after you experience this problem. Please make sure that everything you clear observer logs event before you launch you the Anyconnect client.

To clear the observer event logs, follow these steps:

    1. start > run > Eventvwr

    2. it will then open Event Viewer Window

3 maximize the application logs and services and that you will find an option "Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client"

    4. right click on the Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client and select clear logs. Select clear after that.

Once you are done with this, launch the anyconnect connection and allow the problem to happen. Once the problem occurs, unplug the anyconnect client and run newspapers dart. It will create a Zip file on your desktop (by default) and you can go through the logs of connection Anyconnect to look for the root cause.

Let me know if it helps.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or what access list I'm missing?

I have two Cisco ASA 5510 firewall with a similar setup configuration and the AnyConnect SSL VPN works great.

    Hi Matt,

You are probably landing on the tunnel-group by default - you will need to indicate which group to connect to the client. This can be done in different ways - I see that you already have a defined group aliases, but to be able to use that you must configure:

    WebVPN

    tunnel-group-list activate

Alternatively, if you have only a single group, you can add 'group-url https://yourasa.yourcompany.com/ permit' to the webvpn attributes tunnel-group.

  • Setup for use with Cisco Anyconnect VPN IPsec

So, I had trouble setting up VPN on our ASA 5510. I would use IPsec VPN so that we don't have to worry about licensing issues, but what I have read you can do with and always use Cisco Anyconnect. My knowledge on how to set up VPN especially in iOS version 8.4 is limited, so I've been using a combination of command line and ASDM.

I am finally able to connect from a remote location, but once I log in, nothing else works. What I've read, you can use IPsec for client-to-lan connections. I use a pre-shared for this. Documentation is limited on what should happen after have connected you? Shouldn't be able to local access on the vpn connection computers? I'm trying to implement work. If I have VPN from home, should not be able to access all of the resources at work? According to me, because I used the command-line as ASDM I confused some of the configuration. In addition, I think that some of the default policies are confused me too. So I probably need a lot of help. Here is my current setup with the changed IP address and other things that are not related to deleted VPN.

NOTE: We are still testing this ASA and is not in production.

Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.

I would recommend buy AnyConnect Essentials. The cost of the license is nominal - list of US $150 for the 5510. (piece number L-ASA-AC-E-5510 =)

Meawwhile you can use the Cisco VPN client inherited with IKEv1 IPSec remote access VPN using profiles *.pcf.

I believe you can also use the client Anyconnect client SSL or DTLS transport access remotely (non-IPsec) without having to buy the license Anyconnect Essentials for your ASA focus.

As an aside, note that if you want to use AnyConnect Mobile (e.g. for iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry etc.clients) you will also get the additional license for it (L-ASA-AC-M-5510 =, also price US $150)

  • AnyConnect VPN phone

I'm working on the Anyconnect VPN configuration for a customer phone.  I created a separate group of tunnel and the group policy for both phones.  For the part of CM, I worked with one of our engineers to voice for the configured part.  However, when you try to connect a phone to the VPN, authentication fails.  I did a debug and see what follows:

I can see the phone tent to connect through the display of the real-time log in ASDM, so he tries to connect.  I don't know why it fails however.

TIA for any help.  If you need more information, let me know.

    Hi deyster94

'Anyconnect of Cisco VPN phone' you licensed?

Load you the certificate into the call manager?

Load the certificate on the SAA?

Did you leave the phone register once inside company network until you tried conencting the VPN?

You have the strategy of group tunnel for the authentication of the certificate?
