  • AIR-AP1231G and PoE

    Evening,

I have a number of AIR-AP1231G scattered in my factory. All are fed power inline injectors and are working properly.

I am wanting to buy a number of PoE switches that will have the task off the injectors inline for an easier game to the top.

I bought a Cisco 300 Series 10 Max PoE Switch port, however the AIR-AP1231G won't start when you plug into the switch. No light on the switch or the AP.

Oddly enough, I have an AP1242G AIR of what powers well without any problem of the switch.

Is there any configuration, I need to do on the access point so that it can turn on from the switch? The datasheet of the switch indicates that it is 802.3af. I tried the access point on the 10MP models of 28 p of the 300 series and no go.

Can someone tell me please in the right direction? I'm really lost and PoE is slightly beyond me at the minute.

    Hi Tim,.

    You are welcome

Yes, it's worth a try. The 1230 is shown as it is supported.

  • Set up the AIR-AP1231G-A-K9 for WGB (IOS 12.4 JA (13d)

    Hello

I'm trying to set up one of our extra 1231 AP as a workgroup bridge. The AP has been configured as a lightweight access point so I think maybe that's part of my question.

It was the documentation that I found to do the config: http://cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/12.4_3g_JA/configuration/guide/s43hot.html

However, I don't have the available commands that they list.

    Here is HS worm info:

Is it not possible with the IOS and the AP I have?

    Hi Eric,.

I'm just curious, did you convert the AP to IOS already?

    This can be converted to a standalone/stand alone AP you want;

    Here is a method of conversion;

    Returning to standalone Access Point

You can convert an access point of the mode light return to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS version that supports stand-alone mode (Cisco IOS release 12.3 (7) JA or earlier version). If the access point is associated with a controller, you can use the controller to load the version of Cisco IOS. If the access point is not associated with a controller, you can load the version of Cisco IOS using TFTP.

By using a TFTP server to revert to a previous version

Follow these steps to return mode LWAPP stand-alone mode by loading a version of Cisco IOS using a TFTP server:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1 the IP address of the computer on which the server software runs TFTP should range from 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.30.

Step 2 make sure the PC contains the file access point (for example, c1200-k9w7 - tar.122 - 15.JA.tar for a 1200 Series access point) in the TFTP server folder and the TFTP server is activated.

Step 3 Rename the access point image file in the folder of the TFTP server c1200-k9w7 - tar.default for a series of 1200 point, c1130-k9w7 - tar.default of access for a series of 1130 access point and c1240-k9w7 - tar.default for a series of 1240 access point.

Step 4 connect the PC to the access point using an Ethernet category 5 cable (CAT5).

Step 5 disconnect the power to the access point.

Step 6 push the MODE button and hold the button while you reconnect power to the access point.

Step 7 hold the MODE button until the status of the LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds), then release.

Step 8 wait until restarting access point, as indicated by the LEDs become green followed the status LED flashes green.

Step 9 after the access point reboots, reconfigure using the GUI or the CLI.

    I hope this helps!

Also, I would be grateful if you can report a bad config under this interface. Thank you!

    Hello

    # You don't have to configure the power setting.  You can configure any desired power value, allowing AP to offset the gain of antenna to make sure that the TX power is wrong on the FCC regulation.

  • Aironet 1200 series - power of the weak signal near AP

I recently bought an access point of the Aironet 1200 (AIR-AP1231G-A-K9) series and the initial setup - IP configuration on the AP, the installer does a SSID and turn on the radio.

I used my laptop to connect to the SSID that I created, but to my surprise the signal strength of my SSID was only 2 bars and sometimes 1 bar and I'm within 2 feet of the access point. However, the speed of connection/signal quality was varying between 24 Mbps and 36 Mbps.

Why is the signal strength so low?

Is is because I did not buy them with external antennas?

I missed something during the initial Setup?

Y at - it an option that I have change/fine adjust in the GUI to get the best signal strength?

    Help, please.

"Is is because I did not buy them with external antennas?

Yes, that's correct. There is no internal antennas on this model of AP.

You need at least one, preferably two antennas of the same type for each radio. If you have the old 'A' radio with the paddle antenna, then you only need one or two antennas of radio 2.4 G.

    Good luck

  • The number of MAC address entries can manage a list of access (AIR1200)

    Hi all

I had a few AP1231G accesspoint with a configured MAC filter.

Now I'm curios if the access list has a limitation maximum mac address.

At present, there are about 130 MAC address and the couple of clients sometimes struggling to connect.

The default size of the database of the controller is different according to the verion.
