Appellant to Windows?
I just got a call from a man speaking Indian who informed me that he is with the technical support with Windows. It says error reports come from my computer and that it is infected with a virus. He said he would show me how to take care of the problem. He told me to click on start, then Control Panel, which I did because I was afraid of a scam. I stopped him and asked "How do I know that you are who you claim to be? He told me that I could call 315-320-6161 and confirm that it is a TI with Windows. I asked his name and he replied: 'James Thompson"(red flag), and he was calling from Manhattan. I said OK and that he was going to hang up. He said no, stay on the line with him while I called him. I just hung up and he tried to call twice. I did not. Also my ID called said no name no number (another red flag). Someone at - he would call Windows?
It's a scam. I'm glad you don't fall for it. All other calls suggest that tell you the caller you brought calls to the police who should dissuade continue to harass you.

How can I check if the appellant microsoft Windows is authentic?
I got several calls from people saying that they are from Microsoft. They tell me I have technical problems on the pc which could lead to a loss of information. I know that there were several scams & have not given access them to my pc, but they are persistent & so real I would rather sort out problems. Thank you very much. Wini
Microsoft not never initiate calls to users. Unless you've placed a support call and expect a call back from the support agent, the call is not Microsoft. You can ignore it, or, if you choose, you can keep the crook on the line as long as possible to keep him from calling other gullible users. You might even be able to obtain information which would allow Microsoft to identify which plays this means round.

Cannot open PS CS6 because no available disk - new info
Under CS6 PS on a Mac Pro, Mt. Lion 10.8.1 10 GB RAM, 3.6 to 4 internal drives. A new problem just popped up today. Launch PS brings error msg could not open because a dik wasn't available, and a 2nd msg could not open a file... Deleting the Prefs file works, but there is a BUT: I can't change certain preferences without laying new problem.
I can reproduce the following: Reinstall PS CS6, 1 change of preference, to make another disc, scratch disk, move to the 1st place. Problem reappears. It seems that I must leave the startup as the primary scratch disk disk. All my drives are OK, repaired and verified by disk util permissions.
Even if I just delete prefs, check releaunch is OK and change this one preference, I get the prob.
FWIW, here's the last few lines in the Console log:

The audit functions (and repairing) disk utility permissions won't be a permissions problem preventing Photoshop using your work no bootable disk. Which only checks if files and directories have permissions that match the permissions that they have been given at the time of creation or modification by Apple Software Installer packages.
My first "scratch disk" is a non bootable volume. Here are the permissions of the volume as seen at the bottom of a Finder Get Info window.

2 people called me on my home phone, told me that they were Microsoft Windows, that I got error report to Microsoft from my computer and they went into my computer remotely and was told that they could fix. They said that my Windows guarantee had expired (on a less than 1 year old computer) and wanted to sell me a 1 year for $ 25 years more more money. I told them that I need to check. Less than 10 minutes passed and another call. It's when they said my computer was crashing. I told them it was covered by insurance, they hung up. I haven't lost a few programs but nothing that I can't live. They have external access to my computer. First thing I had to do was press on keyboard and the letter r windows icon as it took me to a Web site called showmypc.com. These people really represent Windows - Microsoft? If this isn't the case, who should I report it to? They also originally (before I have them checked) gave me a call back number in case I changed my mind. 1800 651-2595 but told me it would cost me 125.00.

I can get the info if I right click on the fax and click Properties so I know that I get the info, just can not get to automatically mount in the columns.
Hello
To add the ID of the sender's name and calling to appear in the columns of Windows Fax and Scan. Try the following steps.
1. click on start, type fax and scan, click Windows Fax and Scan from the list.
2. click on the view menu, click Add/Remove columns.
3. Select the items you want to display and add them.
Add these elements to the columns, and it should show the details like who sent the fax.

Server crash window MacBook Pro
My MacBook Pro has regularly made a break, and then falls back to the login screen. Based on other similar questions posted here, I executed the script recommended by Linc Davis diagnosis. I'd like some pointers to what could cause this problem.
Thank you

According to the specificationsof Apple, your model may use a maximum of 8 GB of memory, but you have installed 16 GB. The results are unpredictable. The Manual of the product gives instructions for adding memory to spare that read something like this:
You can add both modules of memory of 4 GB for a maximum of 8 GB of memory.
I know that the RAM vendor indicates that the configuration of out-of-spec will work. If you accept this insurance, please ask the vendor for help in case of problems you have with it. Otherwise, reinstall the original brief, or new memory in accordance with the instructions from Apple.

T450 - Windows Startup hangs after BIOS update
After updating my BIOS T450 1.24 to 1.25, the Windows splash screen hangs. I tried all variants of the Secure Boot options in the BIOS, set the default BIOS, tried to decline to 1.24 (1.25 prevents now downgraded to the previous version of the BIOS). Someone at - it see it or now how to fix it? I am close to appellant assistance. Thanks in advance.

Kernel Panic in OSX but not Windows (Bootcamp)
I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro (early 2011) which has recently experienced sudden stops and the kernel panics. Panic report always comes out:
panic (the appellant 2 cpu 0xfffffff7f8d8ae4e6): "MCO GPU REGISTRY RESTORE FAILED: rdar://7254528, VendorID invalid"@/Library/Cahes/com.apple.xbs/Sources/AppleGraphicsControl/AppleGraphic sControl-3.11.33.1/src/AppleMuxControl/kext/AGCPowerManagement.cpp:1158.
....
....
Here is what I have done so far:
-Went to the Apple Store for the MacBook Pro video problem Extension program repair (it goes the diagnosis made here)
-Ran an Apple Hardware Test (error 4HDD/11/40000000: SATA (0,0)) and repair of disk utility (no problem found)
-Re-installed backup Time Machine but still experienced kernel panics
-Erase the Mac partition and made a new installation of OSX but panic kernel continue to hamper
^ - After completing these steps I suppose now that it is not a problem related to the software/OS, so I thought it must be a hardware problem. The strange thing is that Windows 10 on my Bootcamp partition still works and has no problem. I don't know if I'm missing something, but if it was a hardware problem (hard drive, SATA cable, RAM, logical card) so shouldn't the Windows partition also have problems?
Please let me know if you have ideas or suggestions. I'm stuck with Windows help in the meantime.
When the Apple Hardware Test results by generating an error code, there is a hardware problem. The error you posted indicates a problem connecting to the HARD drive.
It might be useful if you have published the report of whole kernel panic.
Ciao.

Hi all
I've written a vi file that calls a subvi. For some reason (it never happened to me before), when I open the main program (the appellant), the sub - vi opens as well. It really becomes a problem when I use the exe of the main VI version because I have 2 windows appear on the screen instead of one.
I think that the solution is quite simple as checking or unchecking a box. However, after half a day of research I give up and ask for help you guys. The main file of VI (main menu) as well as the sub - vi are attached.
Thank you
Yes, there is a checkbox. Under VI properties, appearance of the window, click Customize, and then uncheck the box "see the front when load.»

Your search: is - this customer call HP about their windows 'license '?
I just to receive (07/01/2014) a call from a male person with a strong Asian focus, saying he was with HP and that he had received numerous alerts that my Windows is in danger of being corrupted and he wanted to confirm my "Windows license number" so he could access my computer and "solve" problems. The phone number that has shown in my phone was 209-794-4843 which is Stockton, California area. We tried to remember, we had a message that the "number has been disconnected or is no longer in service. There was a period of about two minutes between hanging up and our trying to remember.
There are many voices in the background as a call center when I answered the phone and was hard I hung almost jup on him, but when I heard HP I stayed. It did NOT confirm information with that person. When we asked a number of callback confirm the call was not a scam he would not give one so we hung up. Everyone knows this kind of call?Pattivand,
Welcome to the HP Forum!
It is certainly possible that others have received invitations to fraud of this type.
There are thieves everywhere and those who wish to take advantage of a careless consumers.
As a reminder to all those who read this:
HP does not call not invited to your home, your mobile phone, your office or your car.
HP doesn't send unsolicited e-mail asking for private information.
HP DO you will call to tell you that your computer is damaged.
HP will NOT call to ask you for your private information.
HP won't you call and ask a unauthorized access to your computer.
HP will NOT call you and ask for money to solve a "problem" on your computer.
The ONLY way that HP will never ask for access to your computer if CONTACT YOU HP, you open a ticket and is - with the technician of HP on line or with you in a CHAT session allowed - you go through a special approval process that allows once and secure access.
If you do not filter your calls, you might get taken - say what you want as long as you do NOT give the appellant any - not even to confirm your name. Then: 'goodbye' and hang up.
You could block this phone number to call you again. The smile.
Thanks for posting - it's good to remind people about these dangerous individuals.
Click on the star of congratulations !
It's a nice way of saying 'Thank you' for help.
Although I strive to reflect best practices of HP, I do not work for HP.

Windows Update, error 80040154
Hello
I have problems with a system virtualized Server 2012 is not able to receive Windows updates. The system is configured to check for updates, but not download them. Shortly after clicking check the updates, I get an error message with the code 800040154. I searched the net and found some possible fixes:
- Compensation %WinDir%\SoftwareDistribution folder
- Restart the service WUAUSERV
- Restart of BITS
- Disable Windows Firewall
- Disabling the antivirus
None of these corrections helped. The system can communicate with the internet. Here is an excerpt from WindowsUpdateLog.log, things I see as potential clues are in bold:

Questionable e-mail on windows license has expired
I'm doing him Microsoft report on an email I received on 07/11/12, supposedly from MS Headquarters, telling me that my windows license has expired and I have to renew it by replying to the email or in appellant:
Nicolas Carter
Senior Associate (Department license)
Palais Cardinal

London, SW1E5Jl, UK
Support line: + 44-793-742-6692.I have no answer or call due to grammatical mistakes in the letter and my suspect character! (The first paragraph of the letter reads "this letter is information to make you aware of this operating system of windows (sic) (recorded under your name) has now expired.") I don't think that Microsoft would send a badly phrased letter, and I didn't know where else to report!

Yes, it's a SCAM!
In the United States, you can contact the FBI, Attorney general, the police authorities and consumer
Watch groups. Arm yourself with knowledge. The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), funded in part by the Bureau of Justice Assistance
(BJA).
http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspxNo, Microsoft would not email or call you unsolicited. Or they would know if there were any errors
on your computer. So those are the frauds or scams to get your money or worse to steal your
identity.Avoid scams that use the Microsoft name fraudulently - Microsoft is not unsolicited
phone calls to help you fix your computer

anyone receive calls from computer warnings Windows Rep.about?
said he went to Microsoft Windows on my computer made me do a start and assumed he was of Winow. Said I had a lot of problems and had to go through and the next thing there is a page, and it was all the mistakes, said there could be charges and came with 559 dollars. I refused and close the info. Says he will call again to conform to i chage my mind... it's my first time here.
This is the second time iI received this call. People I spoke were East Indian, says it is Microsoft Windos > that's familiar to anyone else?
It is a fairly common scam. From what I've seen, he seems to be more prevalent in the United Kingdom.
The right answer is to hang up if someone says that he or she "is to Microsoft." Microsoft is never the unsolicited calls to Windows users.
In no case allow any such appellant to have access to your computer and don't provide any personal information, including credit card information.
You can also get a phone number on which you can recall and then report the incident to your local police.

(Windows 2000) Error #0x80072EFE when you try to run Windows/Microsoft Update
Hello world. I hope you don't mind offering support for a Windows 2000 based platform here, (I don't think Windows Update deferred much, if at all between the two operating systems)
In any case, all of a sudden, I get error 0x80072EFE in Windows Update all of a sudden. I tried several troubleshooting steps, delete the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to just reboot my computer. Nothing seems to work, and I hope someone has a step that will be.
