  Thanks for the reply. I was able to finally get the new Webroot program to install after running a Microsoft Fix affecting the directory uninstall the old prgm Webroot and meets a new error code (1603), which led me to this site to permissions Grant full control to the SYSTEM account.

  The System File Checker can repair some of the files in there, but probably not all.

  It's probably at least some of the files that have been overwritten. so I would say the the more safe thing to do is to reinstall Windows.

Because of the way my system is set up, I would change where Firefox updates a file when they need to be accessed by another application (for example, a .doc file). The default is to place them in / tmp, which works for most people, but does not work in my particular installation. (Among the programs that I use to read some files are actually on another computer, but can be started automatically from the computer, I'm browsing). I need to place these files in a network directory, so that the other computer can see.

  I looked into: config, but can't find anything pointing to/tmp. I hope that it is one of these "add a new line to about: config ' things that are supposed to be (from bones), but can be changed if necessary.

  You probably can make only by changing the variable of environment TMPDIR = / tmp to point to this network drive.
  
  You can start Firefox via a script file if you want to do this for all applications.

  1. you are trying to move files in and out of Windows\System32?

  By default, windows has not usually (4) or (2) and if there are several files that it can be indicative of a program to move files if you do not have them.

  I rename a directory of Windows and now all of the previous content are missing.  I need suggestions on how to recover.

  Background:

  My machine runs on Win7 x 64.  The "Downloads" folder under my profile of the user (C:\Users\Brian\Downloads) had been innaccesible for many months.  When I try to open, that it does not open and, possibly, the time-out.   I could see the content when you browse the directory in a shell.  As a work-around to access the content via a command prompt I moved all the files/directories in a new directory that I named "downloads" in the folder My Documents (C:\Users\Brian\Documents\downloads).   All files are installed perfectly (about 9 GB) and I could see all the files in the new profile of downloads (C:\Users\Brian\Documents\downloads).  Then I renamed the «_downloads» download folder

  When I open the _downloads file then all files were missing!  The directory is now completely empty.

  I tried two programs of recovery of files (NTFS Undelete and Piriform Recuva) without success.   I haven't restarted the computer.  I read that a possible solution would be to rename the original name 'downloads' folder, but I didn't yet.

  Any suggestions on next steps?

  TestDisk (free) or R-Studio (not free).

  CHKDSK may be able to solve this problem, but be aware that there is always a risk of data loss when chkdsk is run, it is advisable to start on a clone rather than the original disk where the files are stored.

  I am writing a script that's supposed to scroll (open, process, close) a bunch of InDesign files in a directory specified.  I have this job with the exception of the fact that the script only opens one file and then after that it closes the file, the script ends.  It won't scroll all the InDesign files in the folder.  Here is my code:

  I confirmed that myFileAmount contains the correct amount of files in the specified directory (35 files).  Also, I have confirmed that each of these files is indeed the correct file type. Can we see something wrong with my logic?

  Throw in a few alert of before, inside and after the loop - then at least you can confirm if the loop continues, but think it has nothing to do (for example, when the loop variable 'i' is messed up by the non-show 'createHyperlinks()' function), or stops right after the final order close() and therefore never "becomes" for the closure of brace (something like that shouldn't happen really).

  seems a little silly to me given that these files have two functions and I don't want to have the same file in multiple folders for different purposes.

  What I ended up doing was I am connected to the computer as a mass to the right folders-access memory and I put my ringtones in the appropriate folders and is therefore present, works very well
