Areca Arc - 1210 SATA vs SATA-SAS/Arc-1212 he's he's

Hello

I was thinking to get a map of a Arc-1210 for Internal RAID 3 with my samsung F3 1TBSATA he's 4. during the

my research on the places where to buy the map, I found the CRA-1212 with the best speed of buses and support he's SAS/SATA

devices for only a few dollars more. So I thought I'd get the 1212.

I contacted Areca to check the usability of my samsung F3 with the map of the Arc-1212. They answered me:

the 1210 and 1212 are 3Gbp controllers, an important difference between
1210 and 1212 is the 1210 is a SATA controller and the 1212 is a SAS
controller.
controller SAS 1212 use most recent processor than 1210 used, more quickly and more
flow rates, so you can got higher on 1212 performance if your readers have
higher rates 1210 can manage.

but because the 1212 is a SAS controller, which means that it can not completely
compatible with SATA drives as did the SATA controllers. and the car you
used are at records office which can not enough reliable for the purposes of the table.
I can't say you use 1212 with these disks is a good configuration or
not.

This response from Areca, I don't always get no clear answer if it will work. I found a lot of information for

the arc-1210 on this forum and it seems to be a good purchase but mostly nothing on the 1212.

Did someone have a successful professional with the Arc 1212 F3 by car or with another sata drive? or knows where I

First of all, based on the experiences of many people here, the F3 are perfectly OK in a raid array. Even from my F1 of slow and old job without a hiccup.

Second, if you have the choice to get a 1680 or even an 1880 map, you can enjoy many many IOP fastest and fastest cache. I'm not quite familiar with the range of 1200 to say it is better the 1210 or 1212.

If you're going to bite a bullet, opt for the Areca ARC-1882LP

It has double the cache memory, this memory is much faster, 1333 instead of 800 and although Newegg doesn't, it supports PCIe 3.0 instead of PCIe - 2.0. If you bite an even larger ball, think of the Areca ARC-1882iX-12 , which adds not only additional ports, but has also upgrade cache up to 4 GB.

The 12xx line is quite dated, it uses an older processor, the dual core on the 1882 line, use a lot slower cache and is only PCIe - 2.0.

I suspect you can do but a 1883 ARC would really an investment towards an upgrade of the future system.  I don't remember your system (I am not in vain PPBM5 results), but did not find your data.  So some of the expensive benefits of the most recent Board that you cannot use with former components of your mother/disc card. Why not check with Areca to see if they have an old lower price option, unless you plan an upgrade of the system in the future not far away I just dared my basement filled with junk and checked on one of my very early builds that has a controller from Areca in it, but unfortunately it was the previous generation model ARC-1680.

You can check ebay for a used or I think one that I just looked on Amazon seems to be unused.  Perhaps Areca upgraded older models.

  • What is the good memory of 2 GB for my Areca ARC-1880ix

    Hello

My Areca ARC-1880ix came with 1 GB of memory onboard.   I can't upgrade to 4 GB of memory.  But I'm just upgrading it 2 GB of memory, replace the key of 1 GB to 2 GB memory.

I want to double check to make sure that the new memory is "compatible".  One of the reasons why I'm checking although it seems that the stick indeed fits within the Council, the stick is not too 'high' as the original memory stick.

I guess that I'm being too cautious. I guess I could just the memory stick in the card and see if it explodes.  But I tell myself that I would run the sticks by experts here.

See the attached photo of the two sticks, side by side. BTW, the upward alignment slots...

The memory stick supplied with the card has these specifications:

  • T420 - Question of disk drive (wired Sata + SAS / Sata 2.5 / 3.5 is possible?)

    Hello

I bought the T420 PowerEdge with a single SATA drive. I've added 3 more to max on internally wired to 4

I wonder, do I ALSO have to add the hot swap 2.5 or 3.5 and all have work. I guess I have to buy a special raid card if it is at all possible.

I want to be able to do is have the 4 cables + start adding the other 2.5 or 3.5 (based on price) and build slowly upward.

If possible, could you please recommend this card, I have to use to get there?

    Thank you very much

    DellUserMichael,

Unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to do, it is because the chassis are different depending on the storage option selected. T420 storage options are the

    1                                   2                                 3

    • Player 4 option x 3.5 inches: (#1).

      • Cable drive bays
      • SAS and SATA disk drive

    8 x 3.5 or 2.5-inch drive option(#2)

    • Hot swappable drive bays
    • SAS, SATA or SSD drives

    option 16 x 2.5 in drive: (#3)

    • Hot swappable drive bays
    • SAS, SATA or SSD drives

So the question is the chassis are actually different by the selected option.

Let me know if it helps.

I sent a few requests to Areca for support and they came back today teach me update me my drivers of vmware and has reported me on its Web site.  The page shows the driver as a 4.0 driver drivers but it installed:

This is the driver I have installed:

    http://www.areca.us/support/s_vmware/esx_4/VMware-ESX-drivers-SCSI-arcmsr-400.1.20.00.15.VMK.110418.zip

I'll check back with an update if it breaks down or is stable.  I have reactivated the NCQ too.

  • Precision T5600 SAS/SATA Controller Driver

I recently received the workstation Precision T5600. The original configuration was the installation in RAID 1 with 2 SATA drives. I killed the RAID and loaded a single drive SAS instead of RAIDs. When I loaded a Windows 7 installation disc, windows could not see all of the hard drives. So my question is there a place where I can download the driver for the SATA/SAS controller and throw on a USB to load during the installation process of Windows 7?

    Thank you.

    Dell Dear user community.

I having the same problem as jHartweck,

I recently bought the Dell Precision T5600, but I'm not able to install Windows 7, because the SATA/SAS controller driver is not available.

Someone of you managed to solve this problem?

I'm looking forward to your reply.

  • SAS expander backplane directly reduce in SATA mode?

I have a C6220 II with an Expander backplane of 2.5 ". However, I don't need performance of fast storage in this machine and want to use the PCI slot for something else, so I thought to remove the RAID controller and attach directly to the controller of the motherboard, which takes only supported SATA. My drives are SATA, rather than SAS, but I understand that this will not work because the controller should support SAS to use the Extender.

I was wondering if it is possible to change a setting, perhaps a rider, to allow backplane running in SATA mode directly, rather than as an Expander, so that I can use the direct connection of motherboard? I only need two drives from the node, then I don't need to use the expander control.

    Thank you.

    Tentonin,

There are no jumpers to move for this, you need to replace backplane with version 2.5 live Backplane part # WC17M (below)

That will allow you to connect directly 24 SAS/SATA ports to 24 2.5 "SATA/SAS drives. Because it is a passive basket background, it does not support the flexible allocation of hard drives at the nodes; each node in the chassis will get an equal share.

Let me know if it helps.

  • Get 6G SATA in the platters of drive Mac Pro 2010

After some research, it seems that the procedure to attach a map of mini SAS PCIe to readers in the disc trays Mac Pro internal is simple enough for the Pros of the Mac 2006-8, but not so much for 2009-2012.

With regard to the very simple procedure for the 2006-8 Mac Pros:

    http://blog.MacSales.com/12247-upgrade-your-06-08-Mac-Pros-internal-bays-to-SATA-3-0

AFA I can tell, the Mac Pro 2009-12 is not a SATA port transfer to connector mniSAS on the motherboard as the 2006-8, but requires some antics more. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I found this kit, which is expensive, but it looks like it will do the job

    https://www.maxupgrades.com/iStore/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display & Product _ ID = 189 & ParentCat = 351

    Ideas on this or alternatives?

    3 x Samsung EVO 850 1 TB 2.5 "drives

    1 x HGST Ultrastar 3 TB 3.5 "disk

    Thanks for reading this.

Why not just buy a special tray in which you mount the SSD and it connects to your SATA bus using one of the four internal trays. However, this bus doesn't support 3G in this model, a 6G SSD will work, but not as fast.

  • RAID Sata 3 drive hard brand and capabilities recommendations

    Hello

    Please see this Discussion.

    http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/904726?TSTART=0

I start this new thread to focus on the recommendations of HDD for Raid SATA3 disks.

I'm changing my computer editing and totally without disk SATA2 on SATA3 readers.  I'm going to use is no longer my 'old' SATA2 disks in this system.

I will use them with an Areca ARC-1880ixl-12.

I'm looking for the brand and the model recommendations as well as the capabilities of each player. »

Currently I use 500 GB discs and wonder if there is an advantage in overall speed, more and more readers to 1000GO.

And your suggestions and comments will be appreciated.

    Rowby

This is the data I have on this disc:

    SKU: 0F12115, HDS723020BLA642, EAN: 5704327982289, 5704327985259

but of course, these are European or even Dutch figures.

  • Areca Raid Controller, which?

I am looking to buy the Areca ARC-1880i. Y at - it a big difference in the preformance between this controller which has 512 MB and the next cards upwards (1880ix) with 2g or 4g of memory.

I do not have hard numbers to substantiate this, but comparing the 1680 with 512 MB against 2 GB, the difference is clearly visible. The difference between 2 and 4 GB is less clear with video material, as often the clips are much more than 4 GB. To preview files or cache of media, it will be more noticeable.

Personally, I would always opt for the iX version and the largest cache that fits your budget.

  • ARECA RAID CARD PROBLEMS

I'm in the middle of my new build system.

I have problems with an Areca arc-1680 IX 16 Port.

Basically the card is so slow, I tried several volumes of 2 x hd 10 raid 0, raid 0, raid 30 ect. the most I've gotten is 170 ish mbs. pics from top to bottom.

I tried with HD Tach and HD Tune.

    Motherboard used:

    ASUS Z8NA-D6

    HD: Samsung hd103sj

    Windows 7 Ultimate edition.

I tried the 8 available only 2 x pci-e slots. makes no difference.

    arec awaiting return to me.

This is the second card I tested this week. So I have 2 cards that cost £££ and they are useless.

any suggestions what it might be.

    Baz

    Baz,

I tend to agree with Scott and Bill it could be the motherboard.

You know I have the same card controller (12 port one) and I use the older Spinpoint F1, which are a bit slower than the F3 and my HD Tach results like this:

Find it me hard to believe that give two cards this boredom and that is why I think that Scott and Bill are on the right track.
